The British Museum
The collection of the British Museum spans 2 million years of
human history. The Museum is particularly well known for its
Ancient Egyptian collection, including the Rosetta Stone, and its
Greek collections, including the "Elgin Marbles." The British
Museum hosts special exhibitions in addition to its permanent
displays. Entry to the Museum is free, although a charge may be
made for some special exhibitions.
The British Museum is open every day except 1st January, Good
Friday, 24th, 25th and 26th December.
The main entrance to the British Museum is on Great Russell
Street. There is an alternative entrance on Montague Place.
