Product Rating
Alton Towers is the UK's most famous theme park and occupies 500 acres in Staffordshire. It is suitable for all ages but is particularly well known for its roller coasters.
There are two hotels in the theme park - Alton Towers Hotel which takes as its theme the adventures of traveller and inventor Sir Algenon Alton and Splash Landings Hotel which is a Caribbean village style hotel overlooking the Cariba Creek Waterpark.
The theme park itself includes rides, roller coasters, live shows and costume characters. Cariba Creek is a heated waterpark which is open all year round. Extraordinary Golf offers two wacky 9-hole golf courses.
As a complete antidote to the thrills of the theme park, there is the Alton Towers Spa offering spa treatments, Aqua Relaxation Rooms, a Crystal Steam Room, a Meditation Room and a Roman Sauna.
To get there by car, leave the M1 at junction 23a or the M6 at junction 15 if travelling north. Leave the M1 at junction 24a or the M6 at junction 16 if travelling south.

Reviewed by Anne Joson on 02/01/2009 Alton Towers Hotel reception staff gave us a warm welcome. Bit of a trek through the hotel to find the Spa itself, but the hotel is themed and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. A lot of excited kids running about as they were visiting Santa’s grotto in the grounds. Spa reception staff explained the day’s schedule and booked treatments and we were given a guided tour of the treatment rooms and spa facilities. Changing area was somewhat cosy, but not a problem with good friends! Treatments themselves I would say were good to very good. Beauty therapists offered recommendations which were based on personal advice/evaluation as to what best suited the individual. Staff were also very knowledgeable about the resort’s other facilities which include a Waterpark, as well as the theme park. At lunch-time: we were escorted to the restaurant for the pre-booked lunch which was well-presented. In summary: I thought the Alton Towers Spa facilities were better than others I’ve tried locally and would recommend taking a day/ half-day pamper package for a relaxing break as I did, adding some extra treatments. I treated a friend as a 40th birthday present, so maybe in future they could offer beauty treatment vouchers as a gift idea. I would definitely look to return. Rating:
