One of the worst networks I have ever come across, the key word which sums up this network is DELAY. They delay in answering their phones, they delay in sending final bills..in fact it is your "responsibility" as a customer to track them down to finalise payments on your account otherwise you might discover hidden costs and bills when you least expect it! Their network connection is grossly overated, as I did not receive network coverage in many main areas. All this being said, some of the staff are polite and helpful (when you finally get through to them that is) sadly the key word here is a few. In short I have given this network one star, if I could award less I certainly would have.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I've been with them a while and sang their praises for ages but I couldn't have been more wrong. I've been waiting TWO months for my phone to be repaired and sent back to me when it was meant to take 7-10 days. Every time I call them up I'm assured it will take just 2-3 days more, every time the deadline arrives and still no phone & they fail to keep me informed on what's happening so it's always me calling them and getting fobbed off with excuses. They won't even let me cancel my contract with them.

I have been a mobile phone user for about 20 years I guess (seem to remember having a mobile about 1991). I have used many different networks and find I have no choice but to use Vodafone. I use my mobile phone for my business and any missed or dropped calls are money lost to me. I don't particularly appreciate their customer service but then who does have good customer service these days? It's call quality and coverage that count. I have just checked out the UK coverage from links on this site and you can see from the links that Vodafone provide the best coverage. Not so sure about 3g as this is not used as often by myself but as far as calls go you need to be on Vodafone if you use it for business (unless you prefer not to be contactable, eg if you're a customer service rep, lol). My contract is up for renewal and although it's a shame I feel I have no choice but to stick with Vodafone.

I have been with vodafone since I got my first mobile phone in 2000, the whole family have, and we are very satisfied. Staff have always been very helpful - in the shops, on the internet and over the phone. I'm not rating them on the quality of any free stuff they might throw in, as simply I am not interested, I'd much rather have a decent network, than a terrible one with loads of great free gimmicks thrown in. Although saying this I do like being able to purchase festival tickets before they go on general sale. We've never had problems getting a signal, never had any unexpected charges, apart from once when we forgot to cancel insurance (which was quickly sorted). When compared to other networks they also work out the cheapest on a pay monthly contract, I would never switch to another network.

If I could put no star rating I would. Vodafone are a complete waste of time and money, had nothing but problems with them in the last 9 months. They take payments twice and refuse to refund the money, which is theft! They say they will change your payment date on request but never process it on their systems so you are late paying in their eyes do they cut you off. And when your contract finishes and you pay the bill they claim you never paid and send sent collectors after you! To add to the never ending list of complaints their staff are useless, rude and arrogant! I would advise anyone to stay well away as from my experience and a lot of others that I know they will rinse you for all you have! I am left with the threat of debt collectors coming after me for something I paid on time! I have all the proof I need to show i paid, so bring it on Vodafone it's my turn to rinse you!

Despite numerous promises to improve, they failed to do so. So I left them. Now on giffgaff who are on the o2 network, and the difference is amazing! I now get a 3G signal whereever I need it! My smart phone is now working to its potential! Too bad Vodafone, you rested on your 2G laurels. Your 3G network is more like one2one back in the 90s and early 2000s! I have to use Vodafone for work and their reception (outside London and major cities) is uniformly terrible. I don't get a usable signal at home, at work, or, for example, in either of the two hotels I've had to stay in this week. Vodafone's solution (rather than erecting more masts or negotating with other networks to share masts) is to have me pay for a suresignal unit for home and another for work. Doesn't help me when on the road, though. In return my company pays them a small fortune each month.

No sneaky charges like other operators and I've gone over my data limit and used tethering on a few occasions with no repercussions, financial or otherwise. 3g coverage isn't the greatest it has to be said, but then again iphone recpetion isn't the greatest either, as exemplified by my old K510i sony and it's all round excellent reception in comparrison.

I have had a Nexus One handset with a Vodafone monthly contract for a year now. I have had nothing but problems with both the handset and the service since I started. I have endless problems connecting to my mail service and with the touchpad. I almost never get a 3G connection. Additionally, last week I was on a course at which it was essential that other participants were able to text me: it turned out that even though the phone was apparently connected to the network, it couldn't receive incoming calls or texts. Vodafone complaints department couldn't care less (the only thing they can offer for the handset problems is to send it away for repairs - which will take up to 10 days. No replacement handset - because I haven't taken out insurance on it with them!) I could go on ad infinitum. The contract finishes in 02/12, and I'll be cracking open a bottle of champagne to celebrate. 1 star? Hah! Minus 10 stars wouldn't even come close!

Excellent network, I have been with Vodafone for 5 years now. Before that I was on O2. I transfered over to Vodafone I think it was because I was tempted by deals they had at the time. I have moved away from vodafone a few times within the 5 years but it never lasted long (always under a month lol) but, everytime, I came back to vodafone. I even went from vodafone to o2 to 3pay to orange back to vodafone once (all within a month). I even ported my number with me all through the networks. Vodafone imo are the most generous and helpful network of them all. They even gave my husband 5 pounds free credit when he ported his number back to vodafone (he left with me and ported his number too except he went to o2 then 3pay then back to vodafone and didn't do orange lol) anyway he sung vodas praises and he got 5 pounds credit lol. He asked if he could get his 'stop the clock' deal back since he had it on his sim before we moved and as did I, we didn't expect vodafone to say 'yes' as that deal was outdated/didn't exist anymore. My husband and I recently joined 3 again but, again only lasted 2 days lol it was only because we had trouble with the signal the previous day as we couldn't do anything at all on our laptops but after 2 days of an even worse signal on 3, we went back to vodafone(we didn't port our number though) Vodafone is where we are going to stay from now on no matter if we have signal problems. Vodafones signal is not rubbish like 3s' When we tried 3, the signal was 'up and down like a yoyo' unlike vodafones' yes it did go down once ane even had "SOS/emergency calls only" but not as much as 3! In my experience vodafones' signal quality has been enough to get a full phonecall out of and never once dropped and never experienced a signal where it sounds like you are talking under water nor did it ever sound robotic like I have had whilst on O2. Vodafone has also not ripped me off like orange have in the past. I have had credit taken fo r no reason, I never got a deal that was promised when I was with them hence why I was with them less than a week before asking them for my PAC and taking it back to vodafone. I am not leaving vodafone again and I love the fact I got my stop the clock deal back although when we first had stop the clock when the promotion was on, it was 15p to any network for up to an hours phone call then it changed to 30p for an hour then the simplicity? Tarriff came about and it went up to 60p for an hour then came the VAT increases (20%) so went up to 63p but, to me that's still great value. I don't phone anyone much as I mostly text but I don't send many of them either nowadays but, I use my phone mostly for internet, playing games and listening to music which I purchase from vodas music store. I buy the packages 10/25 track packs. I get voda text and web freebee just for topping up but, I don't get to use that as I have a Blackberry phone which I love so, have to purchase the BIS packag e at 5 pounds per month but, I don't mind. Never had all this value/choice on any other network I have been with. Vodafone forever! Lol

I ordered a mobile internet 3G dongle from Vodafone, but I decided to send it back to them because the signal strength and speed was absolutely poor! However, sending the dongle back took great difficulty! It took me approx 20 minutes to connect to Vodafone customer service (and this after being deliberately cut off twice!), and even then, the customer service rep was awful - extremely unfriendly, cold and unhelpful! Finally, after 15 minutes of trying to explain the problem, I somehow got them to send a courier service out to collect it in the end though. Furthermore, when I opened the dongle to put the SIM card in when trying it out, I found what looked like some dried red coloured deposit - possibly blood - in the SIM card slot! I also found out that once you have bought the dongle (I got it on PAYG), you have to continuously top it up every three months, otherwise they will permanently disconnect you! They deliberately put this in the small print, which was the second reason why I sent it back, in addition to the poor signal and speed I was getting (I thought Vodafone were supposed to have the best UK coverage for calls and internet???). Anyway, just to sum up, I've had an awful experience with Vodafone as a temporary customer - so I can only imagine how bad it would be to take a phone contract out with them! I was actually thinking of switching from T-Mobile (my current network) to Vodafone when my current phone contract ends this summer, as they are the only major network offering smartphones on a 12 month contract - now I think I'll probably either stick with T-Mobile or maybe go to Tesco mobile if they offer the new iPhone on a 12 month deal. I have been offered the solutions of either paying over £250 to buy out my contract for a service they can't provide or using a different phone which still won't receive a signal. I know that you can't cancel your contract just because they can't provide a signal, but this seems morally and ethically wrong.

I couldn't recommend any network over vodafone! With the exception of Orange I've never had better coverage for calls and texts. The Vodafone customer service is first rate, although their deals are perhaps a little more expensive than some of their competitors I prefer to pay a little more and know that if I have a problem it is sorted out within a couple of phone calls! Many companies would benefit from taking a leaf out of Vodafone's book. I have tried many different networks in the past and have been unsatisfied with unscrupulous customer services, or poor coverage and returned to Vodafone, where I have remained for the past 7 years. Admittedly the staff in Vodafone stores seem a little ill trained and not as informed as I would like, but this seems to be a common trend with branches of any network. I would certainly not recommend taking out a contract through a third party, things get very complicated if anything goes wrong. I am very happy to deal direct with Vodafone and have been for many years now.

Vodafone are good until you have a problem. I have been with them since 1996 and never had any real issues. My handset went wrong 3 weeks ago and its the firt time i have had to speak with customer services. All i can say is shocking.I have made more calls chasing them in the last 3 weeks then using my phone for normal calls. They have just recently sent some standard letter in response to my complaint and offered £20 compensation. Big deal. I have told them to keep the money and invest it on customer services. Never again. I will be looking for a new provider shortly.

Totally useless. Where do I begin... 1) Billing. Useless. Online service worked for all of 2 hours. Never worked again and requested paper billing instead. Got a bill after 4 months! Was a pain in the bum because despite getting a txt to say the bill was available online - no amount given, and not being able to log in meant every month I had to manually make a payment. Not convenient at all. 2) Handset breakage: If every other operator can replace a phone next day via post why should I have to travel 8 miles to a Vodafone centre? 3) Signal is a geographic thing of course and the coverage maps look great, but often performed poorly for me in areas with reported good coverage. 4) Customer service: useless, unhelpful, rude and arrogant (not quite as bad as 3 in their early days though) when challenged. 5) A draconian termination clause. I wanted to serve notice early on the contract and was told to ring on a date 3 months ahead to give them 30 days notice. Why? Is it beyond feasibility to hold on file that the customer wants out and develop the system to work better for all and send a termination bill? If you ring slightly late then congrats, you just bought yourself another 30 days of rubbish service through no fault of your own, despite signing up for whatever period you took out at inception. Who else does that? If you take out a loan or finance over a given period then you pay, get a letter near the end and then check your DD to make sure that it's cancelled and it stops. Win/win!!! Not difficult at all to implement and Vodafone (I'm sure not just them) could do this too. Of course I'm not cynical enough to suggest this plays nicely for them, am I!? Never going to use them again, like 3 mobile. Orange and T-mobile are way way way better to deal with on a personal and support level. Vodafone - too big - too clever and plain rubbish.

I have had a business account with vodafone for a lot of years and always thought of them as not the cheapest, but the most professional. I have seen them going downhill for a couple of years and there current instore staff have completely backed up that opinion. Been into two stores recetly to arrange an upgrade, firstly to crown point denton where the chav style kids told me they don't do demos anymore and i should "go into o2 and try it, then come back and buys it from us, innit" so off to stockport i went where they did demo and seemed a liitle more human, but in the end i didn't have the relevant correctly made out paperwork for them, for some reason they needed it differently than i have done 40 times in the past few years! The girl was new and young so obviously i asked to speak to the manager, but the nice young lady told me that he was too busy and he wouldn't change the decision anyway. So i'm not prepared to continue in my quest with vodafone and am now looking for an alternative provider for our business

Just so this makes sense to people, I live in Manchester and have regularly taken mobile phones to North Wales, Cumbria, Devon and Cornwall. (And abroad to Greece and Egypt). I've had the benefit of a number of providers since owning my first mobile phone... I began on Vodafone - it was amazing. Coverage was unrivalled and customer service couldn't be faulted. I then moved to BT Cellnet, and then O2 - they were a close second to Vodafone. Coverage not quite as good in certain places but not bad at all. I found in the remote areas of the Welsh countryside the signal strength was weak to not at all - Vodafone on the other hand was better. Then I went to 3... Not recommended. I went with 3 to get the many 1000's of free "3 to 3" minutes. I used hardly any of them as I never had enough reception. Strangely, 3's reception was strongest in the remote areas of the country - in Manchester it cut out on me all the time! (I ended this contract early with a buy-out!) I am now back with Vodafone and in my experience are still the best for coverage. I have had an 18 month contract and have just renewed it for a further 24 months. The data speeds are lightening fast. I can't comment on Customer Service problems, only that my last upgrade went smoothly and the staff were pleasant each time I phoned them.

Service is disgusting. Hard to believe you can get billed £1000's in 3 weeks in international texts. So between price and quality it fails abysmally on both. I can't now get through to pay the final bill as they only have an automated system and I am not now a customer - so they have made all manner of threats to me (I owe £16). I made some complaints in the last couple of months of my time with them. The ombudsman says I should make yet another complaint to them. They have not answered my letter sent over a month ago. You need to have rocks in your head to use these people. They should not be in business. You only live once and this is simply wasting your time. The lack of business ethics in disclosing fees and service is astonishing and the worst I have encountered in any business in my 57 years.

Their advertising and their prices makes them seem like the most reliable network providers. In my personal experiance this is not true. Their customer service is absolutely atrocious, their insurance (for iPhone at least) is overpriced and relatively slow and cumbersome. I took my phone into a Vodafone store after the screen was smashed my claim was accepted as a REPAIR, however my phone was not repaired, I received back (after 2 and half weeks waiting) a phone that seemed to be made from canabalised parts of other damaged iPhones. This would have been acceptable if had come back with some kind indication the repair was carried out by an official Apple engineer, I know for a fact that refurbed phones provided by Apple are sent with an Apple certified sticker, mine came back wrapped in paperwork. Anyway I wouldn't be on here moaning if that was the end of it. Since repair, the touch screen is totally unuasbale, it feels erratic and unresponsive infact the touch part of the screen worked perfectly even when the glass was smashed, now it simply can't be used. Without even touching the phone it decides to open apps etc. All that was offered was another lengthy repair and then after much complaint they will send another refurb at the time they collect this one. If they only intend to refurb why can't they have sent a refurb initially without making me wait over 2 weeks, that way when it arrived in a substandard condition I wouldn't have been fuming!!

The Customer service staff are no doubt doing their best and are always polite - but first you have to get connected, and after waiting on line for 33minutes having already spent ages getting connected in the first place I am texted a phone number of a department that is closed. The next day I gave up even trying to be connected to any of the help lines and emailed customer support, who responded a day later not resolving the issue at all. Tried telephoning to close the account and gave up. Now waiting on email customer support again. Still trying to close my account.
