I have had to set up more then 10 accounts, tried 3 different cards from 2 different banks, spend on average 4-5hrs a day for the last 3 weekends on the phone & web to their sales, aftersales and complaints team, none of who can help and say they cann't do anything; others promised to call back and never have. Do not use Tesco Mobile's pay monthy service. After the handset I ordered was lost by the parcel delivery service, Tesco mobile have tried to charge me for the handset! This was despite being assured over 2 weeks ago that the handset was found and the account closed. Apparently, the message was not sent to their billing department. I have been forced to take legal advice (the advice being that I am resolutly not liable). I am now pursuing this matter with the ombudsman. Abosulutely atrocious customer service. Avoid.

Reasons not to use tesco mobile They cap the spend to £90. If you go over it you cannot pay with a debit or credit card until a month end bill is produced so you stay cut off. It take 6 hours for top ups to be activated. They sent me an email with other customers full bank, address, password, card details on and werent bothered. Proof is available, ive saved the emails. Customer services only open during the day. They were cheap when they first started, but Ive just moved to O2 for the same price and get much better service.

Rang Tesco Mobile to ask about getting an iPhone 4S. Was told that I needed to be an existing customer to get one but that currently they were out of stock everywhere. I tell them I have been on the Tesco Mobile PAYG since the scheme started but was then told that I had to be on a contract to be classed as an existing customer and I would have to wait until existing customers were given their iPhones. Strange thing is that on their site it classes existing customers as both PAYG and contract. So I was just looking around the Tesco site and noticed that some of the iPhones were not showing as out of stock. Bought one thinking it would probably end up getting cancelled or made into a pre-order when I get an email with my IMEI number and new phone number as well. Phone arrived on the Monday (I ordered on the Saturday). Wasn't even asked whether I was a previous customer or not. I've also found several different Tesco Mobile sites... I got mine from Tesco Phone Shop which is still showing a lot of iPhone 4S 16gb in white and black on various TM packages. Yet when I rang up Tesco again he confirmed that they were out of iPhones still. BAD communications it seems. Looks like the left hand doesn't know what the whole body knows, let alone the left hand. Plus the bullcrud about being a previous customer wasn't even applied to my purchase. But now the real problem... My iPhone is only showing 2 bars where my Nokia never had any problems and shows full bars in the exact same place. Not Tesco's fault as both phones are on Tesco Mobile. It's definitely an iPhone problem so I can't blame this on Tesco. I've found Tesco to be generally good but the sales team for phones is absolutely awful. I'm only putting acceptable for the reliability of the system (but that is O2 so I'm being generous here).

Im on a £10 contract for ULTD texts, ULTD internet, 500 mins calling. 1) System is new and numerous different way to top up the phone (need to be done when exceeding limits on contracts too) - VERY CONFUSING 2) Customer Service is very poor 3) VERY expensive outside the country. 4) Online top up and paymetns systems are frequently down and never 'just works'. My phone is forever getting blocked, especially outwith the country. Tried raising limits and never seems acheiveable with them. Give them some time to sort their new systems out and it may be worth having... but not yet.

Recommended to Tesco Mobile by a friend and have never looked back. Experienced major problems on O2 who kept insisting that it was a sim card problem and replacing it, which never solved my problems. Decided to take out a contract with Tesco Mobile instead. Amazing price, great quality and I still get the great signal offered by O2. I have the price plan with 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500mb of data for £15 and chose the HTC Wildfire. This price plan is fantastic, a lot cheaper than anywhere else and the perfect amount of calls, texts and data for a frequent user. Very happy!

I ordered a mobile contract on-line, I gave my credit card details, had £15 removed from my account immediately and 2 weeks later I'm still waiting for my mobile to arrive. I suppose as far as Tesco is concerned, thats my 14 days cooling off period shafted then? I've tried to call their customer services twice now and gave up waiting after being put on hold for over an hour each time. I've even gone onto their live-chat to complain and got nothing but fed a pack of lies. Each time I have been told "your phone will arrive tomorrow". Well Im still waiting. Im bored now!

The pricing is great. Make no mistake about it: unlimited calls, unlimited internet and texts for £30 per month. So far the reception has been good. * Now for the problems: there are certain countries they still don't have roaming agreements with (even though O2 do!) so be careful to check before you buy. * Next, I was in New York recently and my bill went to £90, which is fine, but then they cut me off... I had to phone customer services to find out that they have a set allowance that cannot be changed. I had to top up £30 (the maximum you can do) but very soon I was cut off again... it turns out that this call to customer services had cost me £20! I was unable to top up again (there's a limit on topups) meaning I was stuck without a phone and unable to contact people for meetings. Professional network? * Lastly I got an iPhone 4s and have been told that in order to be sent the new "micro SIM" that it needs to run I'll have to be disconnected ("as you can't have two sims with the same number") and wait up to 5 working days to receive it. When I asked if they could maybe send me an unregistered SIM (or even a pay as you go one) they said "all micro SIMs need to be send out with a number on them". End of conversation. I like the Tesco brand, but this really does let them down. Looking at the number of comments on here it makes me feel sad. I guess it's a little too much to ask for good service and cheap prices. Brings to mind the expression "if you pay peanuts you get monkeys".

Better than moving from Virgin, that took two days and constantly giving me different PAC codes every time I had rung. I do have trouble with the signal in my house but I have with whoever I have gone with. I don't live in a good area for any mobile signal. It's the same when any one visits and uses there phone. I've had an iPhone 4 with Tesco for over year and it is great value, I've had no issues with call quality etc as they use O2 and where I live O2 and Vodafone are the best in terms of coverage, with Orange and T-Mobile being plain and simple. People complaining about Tesco's signal are pretty thick, surely before you sign up for a contract it might be worth checking online or even testing a pay as you go Tesco sim? And the guy whinging about a faulty iPhone 4 made a huge mistake by going back to Tesco. If you have a faulty iPhone which is under warranty then it's idiotic to go back to O2/Tesco/Orange/Vodafone/whatever operator you're with and waiting it for it to be fixed. You need to go to an Apple store, they'll replace your phone with a new one in 10 minutes, if you don't live near an Apple store then just send it back to Apple and voila, they'll replace it.

I had problems with my contract phone since day one... eventually things got so chronic that I sent the phone in for repair, it came back exactly the same. Battery eventually failed to the point where it wouldn't turn on. As for the network - I was mis-sold my contract data as "unlimited" with no mention of limit in the FUP. Seems it was 1GB - on my account it reckoned there was a fair use fine of £75. F--- off. Signal was dreadful in the two places I spent most of my time. I once phoned up to complain and the guy on the other end couldn't hear me complaining. Talk about irony. I'm currently in the process of trying to get out of the contract. Their help line will have you passed through about 5 departments and plenty of call-waiting music - and they never respond to complaint letters. They're a piss-poor operator. I took out a £15 a month contract with Tesco mobile in Aug, but then changed my mind as decided to stick to 02. Absolutely appalling customer service, they sent me in circles to get my refund, making me wait hours. I called on 5 occasions and they had no record of my prior conversations. When I complained, I got this response: 'I am sorry to read of the inconvenience Tesco Mobile have caused you when refusing delivery for your handset, please accept my sincere apologies for the time it has taken for the contract to be cancelled. Unfortunately Tesco Mobile are not able to offer any compensation for your time, I understand this what not the reply that you was hoping for and again I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.' I would not recommend them!

Tesco use O2 as the carrier. Tesco network coverage=O2 network coverage so don't complain about Tesco when you have poor signal complain about O2, go look at the coverage map BEFORE you sign up. Contract and tariff terms are there for all to see, READ them. Don't complain if you get a big bill because your phone or app did something you didn't know about, READ the phone manual and READ the app help files. Don't troll because you didn't read a manual, contract or website. Tesco in my experience are no better or worse than any other for service but do win on costs for what I want, cheap phones for the kids with low monthly costs for a reasonable amount of calls and texts!

I was impressed by the fact that I was able to return a monthly contract mobile telephone within the 14-day grace period and obtain a "no quibble" refund of what I paid; but, since then, I have begun to realise that all is not as good as first seemed... Looking back, I had to stand around waiting whilst the store section manager or supervisor was put through to the wrong department and so on - anyway, it took quite some time - as part of the "returning" of the phone process - i.e. there was some "remote" or "virtual paperwork" to be completed with a person or persons on the other end of the [store] telephone that was taking a long time - and actually this was inconveniencing us both. In fact, it was beginning to potentially inconvenience other people waiting for service themselves on this section. So, I began to be uncomfortable as I actually felt GUILTY that this poor chap was being unable to carry out his duties to other members of the public - potential customers - although it was not MY fault - who were having to wait whilst he dealt with me! I was happy to be returning this particular phone and so was ok with this at the time; that relief that I was returning it and obtaining a refund was outweighing the irritation of the process being a bit ponderous. Then I went and took out a contract on another phone off them.... whoops. To be continued

I use my mobile very little. After having had major problems with the IQ=5 staff at Vodaphone and then Orange, which was close to going to court, I decided to go to Tesco pay-as-you go. I bought a 99p sim and put it in my old phone. Now I spend £35 a YEAR, as opposed to £35 a month on a rotten contract I was wrongly put on without consent (I got all my money back after 18 months of arguing and threats). Value: this offer is not available at the moment, but I have five favourite numbers that the call and text charges are half price. So most of my calls cost 12,5p a minute. I get triple credit when I top-up. The free credit will be activated after 48hours and lasts for a month. You get a text to inform you about that. After that you will niggle off of your normal credit. To activate all this can be done from your phone, even if you have no credit on it, because Tesco will supply you with 20p to be able to call their automated service. Or you can log on to your compute r at home, and sort everything out on your profile that you set up. I also get Tesco points when I top up. The difference from most of the bad reviewers here, is that I read the instructions. Read The F Manual! Saying that, buying an iPhone or browse the internet doesn't seem to be a good idea with Tesco? Reception: never had any problem with bad reception. The infamous "inside Tesco store" reception is now better than it was with Orange. Customer services: never had to contact them. When I bought my son's phone I couldn't unlock it from T-mobile. The store in Pitsea took that phone back, no quibbling, and I chose another one. Overall: for two years I've been exceedingly pleased with how much money I've saved, being a low-profile user. I've just got a Tesco phone for my son, too. There are several ways to top-up your, or your family's, phones, but I find it easiest to do via my internet profile. I can also "ping your child a pound" via my phone, if his credit runs out. Now, after the harrowing nightmares with other companies I feel genuinely free!

Signal drops and cuts me off in four out of five calls which is very frustrating. Text is OK. Tesco have no customer service back up and even less techical understanding of the phones they sell. I would never use them again or have an HTC. 3 weeks ago I set up a £35 per month contract with Tesco and received a free HTC Desire phone. 6 days later my account was suspended as I have run up a bill of £250 on downloads that happened overnight. I telephoned customer service who were dreadful and just said I was spending too much time on social net work sites. (I had only used the phone, text and camera). They didnt seem to understand that not everyone actually wants to set up a face book account. I then took the phone back to the Tesco In Store shop who couldn't explain what had happened, so put it down to a fault and exchanged the phone. My complaint was that if they didn't understand why this had happened in the first place, then what was to stop it happening again with the new phone. I was unaware that the downloads were happening as I hadnt done anything, until the account was suspended. I was assured by tesco that it would not happen again (there way of getting rid of me I guess). 10 days later and the downloads have happened again, so I am faced with yet another £250 bill. Tesco did say they would write off the first bill but wouldn't do it again. However, they also assured me that this fault would not happen again. I am now left with a £250 bill and a phone I cant use in case this happens again, even though I still have 23 months of a 24 month contract to pay - its already run up bills of £500 in 3 week for no reason that anyone at Tesco or HTC can explain.
