Reviewed by Adam Z on 29/06/2008 1) Customer service is hopeless. After going through multiple electronic selections, end up with an unhelpful cust.service person with low IQ 2) They refuse to fix/replace your phone if >6months old even if within warranty. They say one needs to contact the manufacturer. This is unacceptable (and breaches trading regs). If one buys a phone from Orange one expects them to arrange replacement/repair it if still within warranty. 3) Reception not great 4) am going to try O2 when contract ends! Rating:
Reviewed by orange is ok...sometimes... on 26/06/2008 i have had an orange contract since october 2006 or 2007, cant remember which, and it was ok. bit of a rip off really, 19 quid for 75 mins and 225 texts, then in april i upgraded to 25 quid a month and i get 600 mins and 'unlimited' texts. they say unlimited but its actually really about 3000, which is not great as i text A LOT, but it will do. also, i almost never have any signal at one house, its is very poor, and at my school i only get signal in some places and i get low signal in the few places i get any at all! good points are that if you are clumsy and have to get a new fone every 5 or 6 months like me then you are ok as they replace them for you or you can buy a new one fairly cheap! and orange wednesdays they are good! Reviewed by Squeak on 25/06/2008 Been on Orange Contract 2 years in July, the first phone I had broke (for some reason I picked the RAZR) but was replaced with a refurb quickly and customer services were ok, they weren't rude to me like others have said but they didn't "wow" me either. When it came to upgrading the phone I got a huge number of calls from them in the space of approx. 20 min even though I told them I was at work and to call me back the next day. The phone I got with the upgrade has survived the year... which is surprising considering how many times its been dropped and scuffed etc. No super or terrible experiences with the company. Network coverage is moderate but it is annoying sometimes at work when my signal suddenly drops. Rating:
Reviewed by Alex on 23/06/2008 I have been with orange for about 7 years and have had alot of problems with them. First of all when i bought a new phone directly from them it went faulty after a few weeks (w580i) they replaced the phone four times and then said "you may now choose any phone you would like" so I choose a new phone and said I would pay the extra as it cost slightly more, they said they would call me back they never did! Orange then said they would send us a New W580i this was also a refurb but there have been no problems with this one but because of that they will not give is a new one, which is extremely annoying as you can buy the refurb from them for approximately £40 less. Another thing is when i purchased text bundles from orange they decided to remove it despite it costing me £6 of my credit when i contacted them about it they refused to reply about it. Occasionally they will cut your signal off which is just great if your in an emergency (luckily i haven't been in an emergency but if i was i certainly wouldn't be able to get help with an orange mobile) My advice is to stay clear of them if they annoy you at least once. However i believe that the free texts you get on the Dolphin Pay as you go plan is satisfactory and this is the only reason i stick with them. Rating:
Reviewed by I Hate Orange on 23/06/2008 Don't get me wrong. Orange works pretty well for me when I'm in the UK. Before I went to Amsterdam I called to make sure I had roaming swiched on and everything would work abroad. I was assured that everything was on and I would have no problems. I arrived in Amsterdam to find I had no signal so I plaid with the phone settings and tried every available network that the phone could see. After an hour of 2 of trying none of the operators worked and I was stuck on holiday using phone boxes!! When I got back I called to complain and I was asked why I didn't call them whilst I was in Amsterdam!!!!!!! Explainig to them that this was a pretty stupid question to ask they told me flatly that there is nothing they can do now that I'm back home and if I have problems in the future I shoudl call them whilst I'm abroad. The solution - I've now cancelled Orange and have Yodafone which works automatically without me doing anythign abroad. Orange couldn't care when you need help so avoid if you're going abroad. Reviewed by Tony on 04/06/2008 I find this site and people's comments terrific and very valuable! Been with Orange a lot of the last ten years and I agree with the overall view, that their customer service has gone down badly. I bought a Sony Ericsson phone in April, tried to set up emailing (direct from the Messages menu, not just by going via the WAP mobile internet). Should have taken minutes/hour or two. It has taken until June!! Countless phone calls, visits to the website, visits to the local Orange shop. The staff seem to be very poorly trained, know little about the technology, and seem to think that I am happy to wait around for weeks until they decide to get a move on. In the end, only threats of demanding a refund got my handset finally set up so that I can get Orange emails delivered straight to the phone in seconds. I am changing the phone AND the network ASAP!! Reviewed by Jane38 on 11/04/2008 I've been with Orange for years and they really have become inexplicably poor. The call centre is unhelpful too. Recently, out of the blue and without anything to provoke them, they asked me for 6 months of bank statements or I would not be able to use my bank a/c to top up my PAYG. I naturally declined and use a top-up card. Now, I just purchased a new handset and again, they want a bank statement. They didn't want to see it in person, they wanted it faxed somewhere. This is not a contract, remember and with all the current concerns about ID theft, I'm not sending financial info anywhere! I realise that as a payg customer, I am unimportant, but I rarely use it and certainly not enough to justify a contract. I feel bullied. I refused and continue to use my phone. I keep Orange as I need the coverage in Cornwall, otherwise I would have dumped them when they tried to gather this personal information before. Take the offers, register for magic numbers and Orange Wednesdays but keep your wits about you with your personal information. Rating:

[+] *Claiming under insurance* - I've broken or lost my phone twice and both were delivered next day under insurance no quibble. [+] Always polite and friendly. Value for Money = 5/5 Stars [+]*Orange Wednesdays* - On average I save £10 a month in free cinema tickets. [+] *Magic Numbers* - I've been with Orange so long I have the option of choosing five friends on the orange network to call for as long as I want without charge. You accumulate a new magic number every six months (max 6?). When one of that persons is your girlfriend, you save! [+] *Superior Tarrifs* When the contract is up I do shop around for the best deals and I always return to Orange. Although I negotiate with their Cancellations department the website deals are still better than competitors but I get a little extra because orange are keen to keep your custom. Network Coverage 4/5 I live in scotland and I always have a stronger signal than my friends on different networks where I live, some area's in the highlands dont receive good signals but thats on par with most other networks. Beats Virgin and 02 in those troubled areas. Overall = 5/5 Stars Rating:
Reviewed by Another reviewer on 14/03/2008 Overall Orange has been quite good for me. Coverage for me, has been fine around my local area (South Manchester). In the early days the coverage was abysmal, that's immaterial now. I have been with Orange for over 12 years and have always had good customer service and the phone upgrades have always been free (you have to push them sometimes to get them). But the last week when I've been trying to negotiate a better deal the service was unhelpful and drove me mad trying to explain that to pay £50 for a phone upgrade that was a lesser model than I currently had in my book is called a down grade. Oh well, it wasn't until I decided to go with Virgin that Orange offered me a better deal with FREE upgrade. So, I think that Orange is now going to lose out on customers unless they do something about 1) their Customer Service and 2) their initial deals. Rating:
Reviewed by rich on 12/03/2008 i have only rated as poor because abysmal wasnt an option. Orange are pretty good until you have an issue and from that point onwards they are rude, unhelpful and simply dont want to know. Orange have today lost a £1000 per annum customer Rating:

Reviewed by Lee on 01/03/2008 TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Rude and unhelpful. I was with them for about 9 years which counted for absolutely nothing when came to sorting out new tariffs & upgrades etc. I've moved both of my contracts, my wifes contract and my two kids PAYG phones over to O2. Much, much, much better!! Totally the opposite of Orange. To all the people in these reviews who say they're happy now, just you wait! It will change. Orange customer services will see to that. AVOID ORANGE AT ALL COSTS. Rating:
Reviewed by L4UR3N on 28/02/2008 On pay as you go, the texts are 10p, calling is 15p.But they also have bonus top ups. I am on one where if you top up with £10 then i get 300 free texts that month and so on. The network service isn't as good where i live, i have had better, but i have learned the certain places in my house which get me a decent signal, so it is ok. The other downside is that cost to go online on the WAP(or whatever it is) on the phone, as it costs a lot, it's literally a pound every 5 mins which is pretty ridiculous. So if you like going online on your phone then you are better off getting the t-mobile as they have it where it costs £1 all day and you can go on and off it as many times in a day, but that is all it will cost. So i really liked that. Overall i would recommend the network but only really for the bonuses you get on it. Rating:

Reviewed by digidiot on 25/02/2008 I've been with Orange for almost ten years as a business customer. It's been downhill all the way so I'm just in the process of leaving. But I do want to be fair in this review. With Orange, if you get the right person at the other end of the call centre, they can be fabulous. What seems to let them down is totally useless systems (online, billing, etc) on the one hand, and off-shore outsourcing on the other. More recently, however, it seems no matter what you ask them, it's "not possible". I get zero reception at my new office near Canary Wharf (unbelievable if you think about the number of people working and commuting in the area). Limited handset selection. I get billed for messages I've not made or requested. Ok, their covereage (elsewhere) is good. But their talk plans are stingy compared to others on the market. The seem only to care for corporate clients. I've just given up on Orange. Rating:

It's already broken once (I wrote this in February), and instead of the Walkman symbol on the front of the phone, they put the orange symbol and then an OFFCENTRE "w580i". It makes it look terrible. And also, it is EXTREMELY expensive. But do not think that going on contract with them will help because their internet is the worst internet you can get... probably. I'm not joking, it's awful. We've had the Orange internet now for about a year and a bit, and we've had to ring up Orange over 10 times to get it fixed, and it's still not very good. It's slow, has LOADS of pop-upps and worst of all, the "Wireless" livebox that you get... well, lets just say that we need WIRES for the "Wireless" network to connect. Terrible network, do NOT go on it. Charliee-XD Rating:

What I find annoying is that one of their staff phoned in December and said "we would like to repay your loyalty by offering .... ". The offer was a Nokia N63 with 700 mins at the same price as my current contract(that I was happy with, did want a N95 but they said "problems with the phone") but before we could conclude the deal my phone (Sony Ericcson) lost the signal! I have tried complaining in person over the phone, and in writting by email. It is getting me know where, and Orange seem to be ignoring me completely. I even spoke to a manager who promised to phone back with reasons why I was having problems. That was the last I heard from him. What hope do you have if management set an example like that. I am now voting with my feet, and all my families phones are now moving to another network. I would suggest that anyone thi nking of joining Orange, or renewing your contract to go elsewhere. I am now tied into an 18 month contract and expect nothing but a long battle with them over charging and cheating me. I have been overcharged due to their policy of connecting you first then allocating a billing date? This means you are charged for the period that the phone is being delivered and you could not use it! Why is billing date not the same as connection date? They also charged me for itemised billing and photo messaging, not requested by me and cancelled as soon as I noticed they were there. I was assured by operator all charges and bundles removed. Though they still appear on my bill? I have rang 4 times to sort this out each time I’m told it’s sorted and its not! You can not e mail them for billing enquiries hence you will have no record of cancelling bundles or refunds etc. how very convenient FOR THEM! I have other problems with them but don't want to run out of space! Anyone with advice on how best to complain and make life as difficult as possible for this cheating company please advise? Reviewed by Damian on 14/12/2007 One of the best companies I've ever dealt with. I've been with them for over 10 years. Always pay up if something is unfair. Customer service is full of educated people, not those who are hired to be difficult when you're angry or get irritated when they're not quick-minded enough to out-argue me. Always give me a good deal every year. I'm about to upgrade and (publicly) they can't beat last year's tariff I negotiated! so I'll ask for something extra. It does help, like at most companies, to talk to a male rep: the females tend to do things 'by the book', yet the male staff seem to be more customer-friendly and not so 'proud'. The complainers are judging on one incident, the supprters on years of service. Says it all. Rating:
Reviewed by Hugh on 13/12/2007 Been with Orange for years. Joined them because I heard that their customer support was outstanding. Have to say dented somewhat in 2005-6 when they were horrendously under resourced. A bit better now. Network coverage is excellent. When roaming abroad, I would recommend you manually chose your local provider so that you don't end up with the local Vodafone operation and barred from using all the Orange data services. Hopeful for the future although failure to secure iPhone extremely disappointing (especially as they had been the vanguard in Windows Smartphone technology back in 2003). All the deals are much the same between the networks let's face it. T-Mobile offers great flexibility (especially for data) but still carries stigma of One-2-None. O2 is Cellnet (they introduced the now original XDA range but now have the iPhone but Sean Bean?!??), Vodafone (there's just something wrong about Vodafone simple as that), 3 is great for the kids (second biggest music download service in the UK after iTunes apparently). As I said to someone recently, it's the devices that make us chose ultimately, not the network. Finally 2 for 1 Wednesdays and the great ads? The future IS bright. The future most likely is Orange. Reviewed by the boy on 03/12/2007 I've been with orange for 7 years now and the first thing to say is that the network coverage is very good as long as you dont want reliable 3g coverage. My complaints with orange (and the reason for the 3 star rating) is down to the appaling customer service and the fact they try to have your pants down when it comes to upgrades. Oranges idea of customer service is to leave on hold for half an hour and then pass you from pillar to post to sor t out a simple problem such as fixing an incorrect service plan. As for the upgrades, whilst they are competitive on the actual contracts , the phones and the prices of them are not. For example, i wanted to upgrade my nokia n80 for a nokia n95. They offered me a £30 a month contract with 500 mins and unlimited txts (good contract, but this was only offered after i told them what o2 could do for me) but then wanted £50 for the phone itself. For me, this wasnt good enough when i can go to o2, get the phone for free and get a 40 0 min 1000 txt contract. I suppose orange are good if you want 2g network coverage and arent to worried about customer service or the range and price of the phones, but for me it was time for a change. Rating:

They also had a customer support second to none. things you got from Orange in those days were:- Free 0800 access Free customer support on PAYG Free insurance The customer was always right V/good Technical support I'm still on Orange and none of the above exists since they got taken over. Customer support is now based in India and when you get through you're treated with disdain when they understand you. Technical support is given if your lucky to get through within 10 mins and when you do get through they transfer to another non-existent service! So why am I still on Orange ? Simple, because compared to the other networks they're still slightly better and they have retained me well with very good deals. This does not mean I'm happy with Orange!- just the best of a bad bunch. I do my own technical support by reading internet forums. Rating:

I have had no reception on the phone from day one, i called orange that night to tell them, they told me to test out the phone for a few weeks first, i did that and called back, then they told me they couldnt do anything as i was over the 14 day limit to end the contract, sneeky way to keep someone tied to a contract. I now have a phone i cannot use at home or anywhere near home, i can use it if i travel into town 12 miles away, or if i stand at the end of my back garden in the rain. the last time i called orange and told them i was missing all my calls/text because of ero reception, they told me there was nothing they could do because their contract does NOT cover use of the phone inside buildings. AWESOME, wish they had told me that i couldnt ou my phone inside my home before they started to take £35 per month of me, im stuck with them for another 12 months and i cannot handle it or them anymore, i have decided to sign over my contract to a friend of mine, they will take my phone/sim and my remaning 12 month contract, then i will get a new n95 with t-mobile. orange tried to tell me last time i was on the phone to them that all networks are bad in my area, not true, t-mobile had full reception, and my partner used to be on 02 and that works fine too. all in all the worst desicion i ever made was sign that contract, i would vote zero if i could, terrible customer service, if you ring them prepare to be on the phone for an hour at a time, then get told they cant do anything when they do eventually pick up the phone. oh...also, i created my online password/name to sign in online to view my bills, i have managed to do that once in the last 7 months, the rest of the time it tells me i do not have a password set up, i set a new one up with ornage and it tells me the same thing, and everytime i dial 150 to check how many minutes i have left it tells me that information is not avaiable at this time, please call back later, i called everyday for 2 weeks and i still couldnt get my balance, still cant, i have to wait for my bill to come through to see if i went over my minutes. might sound like im being dramatic, but if im paying £35 per month for something i expect to be able to use it. beware is all i can say. It takes at least half an hour to get through to anyone at customer services no matter what time of day you call. Last year they badgered me into having a new phone and new contract. I was quite happy with tariff I was on but htey insisted I had to change to one of their new 'animal' tariffs. I reluctantly agreed to go with dolphin as this was most similar to the one I was on and included 500 texts which are the thing I use most. When I got my first bill I had been put on racoon which only included 50 texts so therefore my bill was over £100 instead of around £50. I kept trying to ring them but they said they couldn't change it without written permission even though it was their mistake anyway. I spent literally hours on hold or trying to get through listening to their annoying recording telling me that they are all busy and to try at another time etc. They cut me off on numerous occasions even though I was paying the amount my bill should have been while waiting for them to amend it properly.
