In my opinion, vodafone has the worst customer service, very patronising, uninformed, even staff who lies. Should you have a problem with your service, you're in for a deep swim. For the last 12 days they claim that there is a problem with the mast(network) in the area, almost central london, and as a consequence I cannot use my USB broadband internet. I have spent serveral hours on the phone with them, and all they can say is that "they're aware of the situation, and will keep me updated as to when the issue is going to be fixed". No dates, not times, no nothing. I had requested to cancel this contract, but they're treatning to hold me liable for cancellation charges. They claim that only after 28 days of no service, I'll be able to terminate the contract earlier. Can someone reading this provide some information regardng this "28 days no service" or this is just another lie? I dont seem to find this anywhere in the terms and condiditions. This seem grosly unfair, and totaly onesided. Is anyone out there experiencing the same issues? I'll never go to vodafone again. Major dissapointment and frustration.

Recently, I have been unable to send e-mails at all. When I phone the support desk they know of he issue but say it is under investigation. To Vodafone's credit, they readily agreed to my request to terminate the contract.

So impressed I have ceased the landline. OK so I don't use my internet for watching films et all & if I did it would be expensive, but for what I want, which is to have a bit surf, get my e-mails it's fine!

For the first 6 weeks this thing was like a ferrari, regularly giving 3-4mbps speeds. Since Christmas however it has slowed by increments to the point where it can take 2-3 minutes to load a page. Last night I couldn't get speedtest to register more than 24kbps! When I switch to using my N95 8Gb as a modem over bluetooth in frustration it's much, much faster, despite both being vodafone, used within seconds of each other while sat in a hotel room. VERY shonky software and dubious hardware (should it get that hot?). I'm going to ditch the dongle and use my old N95-1 as a modem with the BB sim

I've been using Vodafones "broadband" for over a month now, I wish I hadn't bothered! Its quite possibly slower than the slowest dial up I've ever had. Simple downloads from itunes for example can take up to 2 hours or more! The page tick over ranges from 30 seconds to a few minutes, not to mention the amount of times it "loses the connection". To be perfectly honest I wish I hadnt bothered with it! I will be trying to get out of the contract and would not recommend this to anyone!

The upload speeds are dreadful so online gaming, a previous hobby of mine, is an absolute no-no. At peak times you can't even get online. The GREAT 3G rip-off is across the board with these grasping companies, I have had the misfortune of having to deal with Vodafone, like a lot of people on here I was fooled by the coverage checker which falsely indicated that my postcode had 3G coverage. Absolute lies not once have I been able to connect to it and all I have is GPRS which is rubbish and I keep losing the connection downstairs in my house. Then there's the woeful customer care, absolutely useless and the biggest shower of buck-passing merchants I have ever dealt with. I managed to get some contact going through the Vodafone eForum and I pointed out the inaccuracy of their map/coverage checker, but alas they are now trying to wriggle of the hook as well just read this pile of nonsense from them..."Vodafone coverage map, this is an accurate record of where we provide a signal. As with the maps we have in house, you can use this to zoom in to a specific postcode to view local coverage to a high level of accuracy. We do have alternate systems at our end, however this is not to have more accurate maps, but rather to have a system which shows us the local cell performance at any time. This enables us to see if there are any issues which might affect signal in your area at a given time, as opposed to the online map which gives customers an image of whether they can get signal in general in their area. I've actually compared the two maps side by side and the area shown as 3G on the online map matches with the 3G coverage on our own. As you have stated in previous posts, this is VARIABLE in you immediate area, however we ADVISE if a signal is available in an area, NOT GUARANTEE the strength of that signal, for example whether indoor or ourdoor coverage is available." This is unbelievable! Vodafone might as well just make these maps up and I think they do! These coverage checkers are nothing more than marketing tools and DO NOT actually bear any relation to what coverage you will actually have, this in my book is misleading customers and misselling of their product. I have refused to pay my monthly contract even though I am only 1 month into it cancelling my direct debit and I will go to court if I have to because I am not going to be ripped off by these crooks.

The trouble is I live in London, zone 2, on quite a hill for the area & if I can't get a full signal here then what's the point in using it elsewhere? I have the 3GB monthly allowance contract at £15 per month. I get an average connection speed of around 400 - 500 kBs when I check at speedtest.net. The worst I've measured is 200k, and the best is 1.5M. This is despite the fact I have a poor signal (at best 2 bars). this is more than adequate for basic internet use. In terms of installation, its real easy on XP - just put the usb stick in and follow instructions when the automatic program starts. It can take a while to install - 15 minutes, so be patient, even when it looks as though its hung up. Initially, content control prevents you fom visiting certain websites, but a quick phone call to vodafone and they can switch it off (as long as you are over 18). I think all providers do the same. For my purposes - email, facebook, bit of browsing and some streaming (youtube) the vodafone usb stick is perfect. You get a 14day peace of mind, so if you get one and it doen't give you a good connection, then send it back and pay nothing. If you're into file sharing, downloading, or MMP online games then this is clearly not for you - for everyone else though I truly reccomend it.

Two more things to be aware of in addition to the very poor download speeds. One: It doesn't allow any peer to peer networking, so you can forget Kazaa, Emule or any P2P file sharing. Two: It doesn't realise that we are in the UK, so any BBC streaming video that is "UK only", will not play. You will be told that the video is "available in the UK only"! No warning about these two very major restrictions is given by vodafone in any of the documentation (or reviews).

However!!!, I managed to get a relativly cheap deal £45 a month, I know its cheaper!! lol But I have unlimted use...dont get me wrong it was hard to get(I only knew of it because of a mate) they kept saying about the 3gig limit. It's clearly designed as a low-use, convenience. It is NOT a broadband replacement and never will be. Looks like I will need to go and get a landline after all. Darn!

They can not claim "warp speed Internet connection” and give me this poor service. The financial ombudsman would have a field day with them. This has to be the worst thing that we have ever agreed to take on - A simple web page can take up to 60 seconds to load. If something would normaly take 10 mins to do on a normal BB connection, plan for at least 100 mins to do it on Vodafone BB. We bought these for our business - it has probably cost us £5k in lost productivity so far.I am going to scrap all of them - it will be cheaper in the long run so that my staff can actualy get on and do something productive. I had to click 1 star - to me they do not even deserve that.

Got my USB stick a few weeks ago and I checked my area for coverage and according to Vodafone's site I am in an area covered by 3G. Having set it all up and used it for a few days at different times of day I was disgusted with the pathetic speed that is consistently slower than dial-up. Once in a blue moon I will get a 3G connection but with a very poor signal that eventually drops back to 2G. Even with a supposed 3G connection the speeds are woeful and with 2G they are even worse. Utterly disgusted with the experience and it should be made much clearer what the likely speeds are going to be for most people. It would appear that everyone using mobile broadband no matter who the provider is are suffering with the same problems. I wonder what Ofcom will do about this as I have been ripped off. At least I managed to return it in the 14 day cooling off period but still had to pay for the time I had it...when it was completely unuseable!!

If Vodafone are the fastest, then Lord help us! The 7.2Mpbs is 1.7 at the very best (3am) and the speed that I normally connect to is well unde 1Mpb (0.7). As if the speed issue was not sufficient, their 3G network keeps failing. In addition to create issues for all their new phones, it also means that your broadband connection will keep either breaking-up or hang. But the real piece de resistence is the phenomenally poor customer service. Waiting for 45' for someone to answer the tech line? Yes, if you are lucky, so that someone can tell you that all is ok and that the speed coverage is fine in your area. This is then topped-up with the wrong-kind-of-building sort of excuses. The forum Vodafone provides has scores of p.... off customers and this is increasing. Extremely poor speed, unreliable and auful customer service. Definitely a mistake subscribing to Vodafone, deeply regret it.

We signed up in April (business) for 2 mobiles and two Mobile Broadband dongles. Initial problem was that the deal on charges and other aspects promised in the shop, which I took the precaution of writing down and getting signed by the Manager, meant nothing. The first bill was on standard rates. The Manage said that "Customer Services" had simply decreed that the standard rates would apply, and the signed document meant nothing. Take it or leave it; as a "gesture of goodwill" they would allow me to return the hardware and cancel!! The SIM card and/or software in one dongle was blown apart by trying to use it in a Vista machine. Vodafone replaced the SIM and service was restored on my two WXP laptops, but not one a new XP Pro desktop in the office. This time a driver appears to be missing. Coverage has been goodish round the UK, 3.6 in Bristol according to the VMC Lite box, 0.8 according to BBC speed checker, in Bristol and the M4 - M5 axis. GPRS in Holy Island was a welcome surprise; I though we would get nothing and it was not too slow for emails etc. But Vodafone's attitude to customer service and simple contract law is appalling. Basically the sale was fraudulent and our buy was based on deliberately misleading information about charges. As Vodafone probably assume, I do not have the time or will to start again with another supplier, but if I ever do, as in if the dongle keeps on playing up, they can whistle for any penalty payment and will have to come to me to collect their hardware. I have a documented record of the whole sorry saga including phone recordings. The rating is for Mobile Broadband service only, NOT Vodafone as a supplier!

Very slow and of limited use. Think VERY carefully before committing to this, and ignore Vodafone's (and their competitors) garbage about 7.2mbps. In the evenings I'm on dial-up speeds (30 to 50kpbs or so). This morning I was getting 2mbps. So, if you want to check emails and surf light it may be OK. I don't want to get a BT landline in. BUT if you want to surf a lot, download anything, or have any sort of broadband experience, then STAY AWAY. Ignore the coverage map. I get 3 or 4 bars out of 5 in my flat and confirmation that I can connect to 3G. Still I get dial-up speeds. Good points are the software is easy to use and it all starts up quite quick. Also if you buy from a Vodafone shop there's a 14 day return option. I may take mine back and try 3 or Orange, though I suspect they're the same.

I can't even begin to describe how bad this is. I eagerly set up the little dongle (which does only take seconds) and I was up and running. A quick look at my connection speed showed I was connected at 22kbps!! This is slower than the connection you would get if you dialled up with a modem over a phone line!!! I looked at the device and I could see that the light was green which means it was unable to connect to 3G and has instead connected to GPRS which has a max speed of 48kbps (slower than your 56k modem :-( Before I bought the thing I checked their web site (which said I was in a good coverage area) but a 20 minute call to Vodafone (at my expense...watch out for their 0870 money making numbers) revealed that I wasn't really in a good area. £15 a month for the speed of an old dial up account? I dont think so. Luckily they do have a 14 day cancellation period so if you're not getting speeds of at least 300kbps SEND THIS BACK and get a normal broadband connection that works. Interestingly, if you use this abroad the fee is £95 per month for 200 MB. Additional megs are charged at £4.25 each which means £4250.00 per GIG!!! So if you download a movie abroad it will cost you £9000!!!!!! Better make sure its a good movie then ;-) AVOID!

The software (drivers) are unstable when used with Vista but the real showstopper is that I am averaging bteween 160kps and 200kps despite being in a 'good reception' area (Slough). I have made a number of tests at different times of day and this performance is consistent. Perversely, the upload speed is more than twice the download speed. What really annoys me is that the Vodaphone shop assured me I would get at least 2meg -I am getting one tenth of that. My advive is do not touch this service with a bargepole. I am returning the modem tomorrow and cancelling my contract (you have 14 days to cancel). Those who have rated this service as good have obviously not speedchecked it.

The task was for it to download a Gif file and a test result was shown once the file was downloaded. My connection just drops and i have to reboot the Dongle to start again. I bought the Voadfone USB modem for my 13 yesr old son as he used his laptop away from home quite a lot. I liked the idea that he could access the internet anywhere there was decent Vodafone coverage, which is most parts of the UK. I was that impressed with it that I went back to the Vodafone store a few days later and bought a USB modem stick for myself. Whilst there are only a few parts of the UK that offer download speeds of up to 7mbps, I have found that download speeds in places I have used it are excellent..even in places like Bowness in Windermere. It is easy to use...just plug it in an away you go. I have 'hammered' the internet since I bought it and I still haven't reached a third of my monthly allowance. The good thing with a Vodafone modem is that if you are not in a 3G broadband area, the modem searches for reception on the 2G system. If it can't find that (and you must be out 'in the wilds' for it not to have 2G reception) it searches on GPRS. So far, I have absolutely no complaints about my modem. I would recommend it to anyone looking for internet access on the move. I looked at other providers prior to settling for this modem but I have a Vodafone mobile, which I am extremely happy with. As far as I'm concerned, Vodafone have the best product using the best mobile signals meaning an excellent service. If you are thinking about buying one of these, Vodafone offer a 14 day return policy if you aren't happy with it. I returned to the shop after 3 days of buying my son's modem to buy my one. That's how much i liked it.
