Reviewed by Jonathan Hartley on 01/05/2011 Connnection is extremely fast, measusured download is about 46Mb/s. However, customer service has been bad beyond belief. They have disconnected us, don't warn us of planned outages, treat us with disdain and contempt on the phone, never address any of my concerns, lie flagrantly, etc. Advertised rate was £12.50 per month, but of course with all the caveats and extra charges and special offers that do not apply, my actual first two months bills were £78 each, and subsequent months will be something like £36. Horrendous. Avoid under all circumstances. I'll be leaving them as soon as my minimum contract period is up. Rating:
Reviewed by Dave on 15/03/2011 Internet is pretty solid and reliable on the whole, although it comes with a TV package, which Virgin seem to chop and change at will. If I watched enough TV to really notice I might be more upset, but 4 stars all the same as I guess it could be frustrating for some Rating:
Reviewed by simon gore on 04/03/2010 I have been getting leaflets through with the newspapers offering to connect me to the internet via Virgin. I occasionally ring them and they ask for my postcode and then the same answer. We cannot connect to you area. I live on the outskirts of Dover. Why is it so hard to connect locally. Rating:
Reviewed by John P on 08/01/2010 I have previously been with NTL and before that worldonline and even screaming.net in the early days, but the last two years on virgin media have been the worst. I was paying for 20Meg and got 12. Then I downgraded to 10Meg and got 6. The last six months I have been lucky to get 1Meg in the evenings or at weekends. So now I've bit the bullet and signed up with O2 and getting a constant 16Meg for less than half price. I rang virgin to close my account, and since that phone call I am now getting dial-up speed at best (50K). It's a good job I got the O2 connection live before cancelling virgin. They are criminals. Reviewed by W Murr on 23/07/2009 In short, a very very poor service for two reason's. (1) Constant drop-outs, disconnection, loss of service. Even when it stays connected the service has constant lag spikes, effectivly making the service usless for on-line games. As long as you dont mind waiting 15-30 seconds for the page to load using Google is ok :). (2) Customer service is probably the worst i have ever encountered. Seriously. The centers are outside the UK, the staff have almost no knowledge of the product they represent but do seem to have been given training in the use of excusses, most of which center around blaming the customers PC. As a note I have worked in IT for many years, a large amount of this time spent as an Network Engineer. I know the Internet and PC's all too well. Rating:
Reviewed by Mike on 26/03/2009 I have been with Virgin Media, previously NTL World, for about 8 years. In the last year or so, I have been automatically upgraded to 10mps and that's pretty much what I get. That's what you get with optical fibre!!! There are times when the internet is "busy", hardly the fault of the provider. All-in-all, an excellent service. Highly recommended. Rating:
Reviewed by b ghost on 07/09/2008 Excellent connection, fast and reliable, no problems in 3 years. Rating:
