Reviewed by Steve P on 02-08-2005 I have the 7730 - Excellent as basic email, the speed of delivery of emails is quicker than to your original mailbox. Falls short on PDA capability and apps though, none of your usual palm type ones on there and everything else is pretty basic. Storage is poor (no expansion card capability) and you can't open or see most email attachments anyway (e.g. word, excel, or .jpg files). Very disappointed too on finding the Blackberry device can't talk to anything else via Infra Red or bluetooth, like my Nokia phone can. In this way the Blackberry is not able to be used as an IR modem/phone for another (e.g. plam) device to connect to the internet via GPRS, that's a shame as the blackberry doesn't have the apps or the storage to be a PDA. In summary if you want a basic phone that's good at emails and you like having all your calls, email and SMS on the 'Inbox' log (useful) then buy one, otherwise go PDA dn mobile or PDA with built in GPRS. If it wasn't for the fact my employer provides the Blackberry for work email I wouldn't buy one, I'd stick with what I use for my own email/web - PDA and IR/bluetooth capable phone. Rating:
