I reviewed this 'phone' a couple of years ago. (Reviewed by D from UK on 9th Aug 2009) If you happen upon this page whilst considering a 2nd hand model, or still have it gathering dust in box - do yourself a favour and install the Android operating system on it. The camera wont work with Android currently (but it never really worked well anyhow, so no loss). It will make the phone half useful as a backup at least. Don't get me wrong it looks very stylish (which is why people are seduced into buying it) but it never delivered. As history now shows even Sony Ericsson (SE) ditched X1 users and brought out the X2. That felt like legalised theft having paid so much for an unusable brick and then getting left high and dry in terms of support. The only plus is the continued development by XDA developers in making new ROMs for it. I'm now a happy Blackberry owner. If I need a phone to phone or send email they are bullet-proof. Presidents and successful people own Blackberrys for a reason, and thanks to the debacle with the X1 I now know why. P.S. via the Android kernel and other means the X1 can be overclocked to make it more useful (read "interact in real-time" for "useful" ;)

AWFUL PHONE - AVOID. I have had this phone for just over a year now and it is dreadful. Without doubt the worst phone I've ever owned. Numerous software glitches, turns itself on and off spontaneously, very slow operating system, poor battery life. And these problems are clearly intrinsic to the phone (not just my handset) because I have taken it back twice and am now on my third (third!) one of these in a year, yet the problems persist from model to model. AVOID!

This phone is awful. I use it for work, the interface is painfully slow, its tiny keypad is alomst useless, the reaction time from hitting a button to it responding is about 3 seconds (on a good day) it is not intuitive, the simple tasks like actually making a phone call are made difficult due to the lag and the tempremental touch screen. Steet well clear of this and get an iPhone. i have one of those and it beats this hands down.
