i apsolutely loved this phone, until i started having all the posible problem i could have. It changed my contacts number to someone else's number on my contact list, my buttons stoped working, i fixed it, it worked well for 2 months and all of a sudden my screen started to change colors and now i can't hear the person on the other side. The phone's life has come to an end

It's a pretty good phone to start off with, until I have this continous problem with the contacts. It changes my contact number to someone else's rubbing out vital contacts. Example would be if person A had 1 as phone number, and person B had 2 as phone number, I find that suddenly person b has 1 as number..

So....... I've had my phone a month...... The battery says it charges to full, and it only charges when the phone is OFF then i use it to around 50% charge and it dies! unhappy.

i've this phone for the past 1.5 years, i found this piece worth buying.... class style and awesome music.... cant expect much for camera picture quality from a walkman series.... enjoying listening to the music in this phone....i enabled 3g very recently the internet usage over 3g is sheer class.... very fast internet downloads.... Happy to have such a good mobile.... :-)

i would originally have given this easily 5 stars because it is an amazing phone - until it breaks. talk.sonyericsson.com/message/68937 describes my problem exactly : after owning it for just over 1 year, the buttons will stop working because of the poor quality of the wire

Had a phone. Had an mp3. Threw both away. Got the W595. Had it for 14mths so far with 8gig card for music. Used the camera a lot. Has been a reliable machine in all respects. If it had had google map app on it for free, it would be perfect.

Had it nearly a year and it works great. Only problem i have had is when switching off the wifi it sometimes crashes. Other than that a great little phone.

I've had the phone for over a year and I love it. I dropped it so many times and it still worked brilliantly. Recently though the buttons started not working aswell as they have been for the past year, I got so angry that I through it down the stairs, and then it broke... But i loved the phone so much I'm buying the same one! :)

Well I bought this 1 2 months ago:) till date, i've got no probs... Its got awesome battery bac up i.e on a random use its givin me 2 days:) extremes 2n half... Its cam's Gud 3.2... n it surely lacks flash well its video light makes it comfortable:) I feel really satisfied with this 1... n I can surely say tht sony got some thin def satisfies every 1 see its got sexy earphones... supb clarity. Its speaker's a lil low but neva bac on clarity grounds:) damn Gud display. Finally Its a Gud phone... Ooh I forgot sme thin it lacks Gps n as soo its compaced wid google maps. Lolz.. Newayz:) its slide's got nil probs yet:) so still smooth eva wid mah rough handling;) so if you are looking for a simple smooth Phone wid all features go for it:) n I can say 1 thin every phone y'll hav some drawbac er the other:) newayz.

Phone is Ok. Camera not too good, Everything has to be perfectly still or its blurred (no expert but this is bad for taking pictures of kids playing). The ring tone is very very quiet even on the loudest setting and I can't hear it when it's in my bag. It keeps losing the "you have a text" message and I have to reset it to original settings about once a month. It's Ok but I wouldn't get another Sony.

nice phone, great keyboard and screen. shame that the battery life is horrible. worked fairly well to begin with, but the battery life suddenly deteriorated to the point that it is flat in two days of normal use. tried new battery, exactly the same.

Avoid this phone. Even if you are offered it free. Yes its a pretty phone and has nice walkman features but Sony erricsson software is really bad. I really need to remove all my contacts and store them elsewhere. I can see the pictures but I really really need the 300 contact numbers I have but I cant get them off the phone. I have two seperate backups of the data on the phone. Neither has the contact info. Stupid sony software, stupid sony software, SONY ERRICCSSON WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??

I love the phone- all except the battery. I have sent it back 3 times: 1st because when the battery goes flat it seems to be completely drained and cannot charge. 2nd because it would stay charged for less than 24hrs. 3rd time because it would go flat and not charge (again). Telstra said they would replace the phone but I cannot get the same one again because it is no longer available. I hate getting used to a new phone!

okay. firstly, i reallllly love my SE w705. i think the phone is really cool; the design (mine is red) and the features. i already own it for about one and half year and yeah, there were few problems and the phone was repaired two times. 1)it suddenly turned off during call. 2)SIM wasn't recognised, there's no network coverage, and the 'battery cannot be charged, you must use a sony ericsson battery'. 3)the buttons on the upper part were all screwed up except the "red buttoon". 4) yeah, sometimes it hang. and guess what..it broke again and need repair for the third time!

Have had this phone for 6 months without a problem..until now. When I first got it I thought it was great, because unlike my previous Sony Ericsson, the keys didn't crack and the buttons have yet to stop working but I find that my phone tends to overheat, ALOT. Half the time, when I'm not using it, and the phone is just sitting on the table, it will get hot and the battery will lose charge in a matter of hours. When I first got the phone, the charge would last the whole day and barely reach the halfway point, which I LOVED because I text a lot so I was glad the phone was able to handle that, but now I text just a few times and the battery will die really fast and the phone will get really hot. I've never had a phone do this and it just boggles my mind, which makes me sad because I LOVE Sony Ericsson phones. My first one was the Z520a and that phone lasted me 3 years, and now I can't find one that lasts me even a year. Overall, it's a nice phone, with good features but it didn't last as long as I would have hoped before having problems..

I've had this phone for around 6 months, I was impressed when I first had it, but in recent months the phone turns itself off and now will not recieve messages, so im currently strongly considering a change... Good phone if your only looking for a short term phone.

Had this phone for 6 months and was working fine for this time. Then just the other day, got an error finding my usual 2G network (Rogers). A couple of days later, my w705 would fail to start at all. Getting repaired under warranty and don't know if they will fix the root cause of this issue. Not sure if it is a firmware or hardware problem. Take the advice from the review above and find another phone if you don't want trouble!

i have got to say that i have had my SE W705 for nearly a 1 year now and apart from when ive overloaded it with songs ive never had any problems with it up until 2 weeks ago when the battery decides to fail and not recharge untill it decides it wants to and then when it does charge it only stays on for about an hour:@ now im sorry but before i decided to switch to sony erricsons i only ever had nokias and not once did any of them break but in the past 3 years or so ive had over 7 SE mobiles and ive now come to the conclusion that i should of come to a long time ago and that is apart from the walkman features i wouldnt recommend a SE to anybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive had this phone since last april when it came out, thats over a year now and mine is fine :S i replaced it like a week after i got it for another but its been fine since, just the random freezes rarely which happens on most phones :S

I've had this phone for a year, and none of anything that's been mentioned has ever happened. I know what you're doing wrong though, if you get the message saying your files cannot be found, turn off your phone, take it apart, take out your memory card, wipe it on your shirt, using your mouth, blow (or suck for the brave) into the hole where the memory card was (when blowing close your eyes). Voila that problems gone. I never got it though, but that's how I did it on my old SE, which was great aswell. Sony Ericsson is the best phonemaker, IMHO. Great phone.

This phone sucks! I've been using it for a couple of months and the Sony Ericsson logo on the top of the screen has disappeared and the navigation keys doesn't work. The menu button is totally screwed, it doesn't respond at all. FLOP

From the 1rst day I bought it I had this specific problem: when sending a message i tried to copy one paragraph of the message and put it in an other paragraph. But when i tried to send the message, althought i chose the correct corresponding person, i finally saw that it had automatically chosen an other persons phone. As much as times i tried to send it, it couldn't send it to the correct receiver. And then a nightmare began when i noticed that all my connections did not correspond to their correct phone numbers (eg. the phone no of one of friends was authomatically replaced by the phone no. of an other friend). When i switched it off and on i still had the same problem. It automatically recovered the correct phones a day after (???). The camera of 3,2px absolutely sucks!!! DON'T BUY IT !!!

this phone is AMAZING......me and three other friends of mine have this phone and although the review says that there are problems, i haven't had a single problem and neither have my friends, one of them have been using it for a year and there has been no problems....i recommend this phone to anyone who is a fellow music lover!!!

Worst phone ever. I have sent it back 4 times within 1 year. All kinds of problems from software problem to keypad not working issues. Other problems like unable to read my SIM card followed by unable to read memory card. Too many problems!

I got this phone 2 days ago and to be honest, i really like it. It comes with everything you need in a phone. The camera is only a 3.2 megapixel but works briliantly. Especially in the sunlight, as it gives really clear pictures. Its good in the dark too as it comes with a built in light. The texting is excellent also. There are no heavy buttons and they are really quite to touch. It comes with so many amazing features. BUY IT :)

I purschased a sony ericsson w705 on jan 26 2010 for 12000.With in the first week of purcase it started connection problems i took it to an sony ericsson service centre in tambaram sanitorium they changed the software (work order no SE310MC110857)..it worked fine for 2 3 days then again problem started and when i took it back they changed its mother board (work order no SE310mMC110897). tis time it worked fine for 1 week and again problem started . this time they said they changed the connector but i din get any job sheet. this also failed in 2 days and now they have said me again they are going to change its mother board (work order no SE310MC111326).. And wen i talked to customer care abt it they say straight on face u cant speak to a heigher official no matter wat u do .. wat ever ur prob is.. I THINK THIS KIND OF TREATMENT IS GIVEN ONLY TO INDIAN SONY CUSTOMERS IN THE WORLD. NEVER HEARD OF IT MY 23 YR LIFE.

LOVE THE PHONE GOT MINE IN OCTOBER 2009 ONLY PROBLEM I'VE EVER HAD WITH IT WAS WHEN I UPDATED THE PHONES SOFTWARE. THE SONY PC SUITE WOULD NOT REGOGNISE THE PHONE. THAT WAS SORTED BY JUST DOWNLOADING AN UPDATE FOR THE PC SUITE ASWELL. I HAVE WIFI SWITCHED ON ALL DAY I HAVE THE MP3 PLAYER RUNNING 8HRS A DAY AT WORK AND MAKE A SMALL NUMBER OF PHONE CALLS AND THE BATTERY LASTS 2 DAYS BEFORE NEEDING A RECHARGE. THE MOST WORRYING THING WHEN READING OTHER REVIEWS IS HOW A COMPANY LIKE SONY CAN HAVE SUCH QUALITY ISSUES AND INCONSISTENT PRODUCTS. SOME OF US REVEIWERS LOVING THE PHONE AND OTHERS HAVING COMPLETE DOGS. COME ON SONY GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

w705 walkman seriers with metalic silver finsh. attractive color.awesome clarity.should have come with cybershot.only default is the slider.it does not look good in the long run.speaker volume is not attractive.and the headset is ok with the clarity stereo and all but not good in the volume level.the camera would have come with the flash facility.nice battery backup.if you want your ears to be safe go for this phone coz the headset will not be noisy.

I have had this phone for about 1 week and when ever i try to play a music track it comes up with "media file not found". When i turn the phone off and back on again the files seem to work until it happends again. Thats the only problem i have with this phone but apart from that ITS GREAT!!!! :D

At first i was very excited about receiving this phone and for the 1st 6 months it was great and then all of a sudden it went wrong the phone changed into Chinese and i could not change it i tried to reset the settings back to the factory settings and then it said it could read my battery and switched it self off . after about a month of getting it fixed the stupid phone will not close and its on the verge of sliding off its hinges. whatever you do don not make the mistake and buy this phone you will regret it.

This is an excellent phone. It looks fantastic with brushed metal finish and is very easy to operate in both closed and open position. As a music player it can't be beat and that includes an I phone, reason being is that the sound is excellent and you can be doing something e.g walking or jogging and can still operate it. I have had the phone almost a year now and it has worked fine. On one occasion only it crashed and gave me the 'insert sony ericsson' battery. I simply just went into sony ericsson website, downloaded the software, hooked up phone to pc and it was working within an hour.

Electronics are a funny old business - i've had 4 faulty xbox 360s while friends of mine have had no problems, but this phone, which is meant to be terrible, has never given me any trouble. Ever. Its all pot luck. I've had this phone since July '09 (o2), and never had anything go wrong. Great mp3 player too. Its 5 stars from me, but potential buyers should be aware of other reviewers experiences too.

I'm on my second w705 and this has same problems as first one with freezing up while taking pictures, listening to music etc. All I get told is do a software update and even that doesn't work as it just hangs and hangs and nothing happens!!! I've always owned nokia, and wish I had stuck with nokia and not got this piece of rubbish. AVOID THIS PHONE

What a load of rubbish. Had the phone for a couple of months always freezing and turning itself off. Battery life is rubbish and now the phone was charging. Switched itself off. wouldn't switch back on. plugged in to charge, it came back on saying SIM not recognised and need to use official sony battery. Switched off and on again and it was all in swedish so not impressed. SONY ERICSSON are rubbish.

Iv only had this handset for 5months, its been extremely slow since the day i got it, and now it says no network coverage, cannot charge my battery, it has deleted all my contacts, pics, videos and messages! RUBBISH!

This is a really neat phone. Wi fi is faultless and has one of the best mp3 player I've ever used. With aluminium finish it feels and looks very slick. It froze on me once in the last year but it can be 'rebooted' really easily on SE website.

My one friend is having the same. I m in love with this handset. HSPA Speed goes upto 350 KBPS Transfer rate in BSNL 3G .......Really Awesome...................Wi Fi is present to access hot spots everywhere..... nice screen size.... I m hving K550i and soon will buy this nice device....

I've had this phone for 9 months...basically its great and I love it...HOWEVER...my real bugbear is with reception.I frequently dont get calls as theres no signal.. can't call out as there's no signal etc etc even losing mid call...all this when other friends are using their orange network phones..like me..in the same place. This has been a problem since day 1 and although phone is otherwise excellent I will be happy for upgrade when time comes.Shame,as otherwise its a great phone and I love it.

I own a W705 for the last one year - though am pleased with it in many ways, all the problems mentioned in the article like shutting down in the middle of a call, hanging etc are problems I have faced. I owned a W810 before this, which was the best phone I had till date. I wish they still had it in production, would exchange this for that :(

I used this website to help me decide on the next phone I was going to get. I decided to buy this phone after having an LG VIEWTY touch screen and it was awful. I have had the W705 for nearly a day and it is very pleasing. It presents facebook and youtube and the internet brilliantly. The phone is a nice, compact size with loads of memory. The music sound on this phone as others have picked up on, is superb! The only part of the phone i am not sure whether im pleased with or not is the camera. The 3.2 mega pixel is great to snap shots on a night out or for facebook. Its just not quite like the cybershot. But hey, the phone otherwise is superb and a brilliant buy if you want lots of features with a good battery life!!!

I've had this phone for four months and have just returned it for repair. I I tried to put it on silent using the hash key and although the 'silent' icon came up on the screen, it remained on 'outdoor'. I can't put it on silent at all even when I select it in settings. If I try to select profile, it turns itself off. I would not buy another one which is a shame because it is very easy to use. I've always had Nokias and will go back to them.

the phone just has to be given a 10/10 star . its just awesome with best feature a walkman can have suprb sound quality .wifi to is at its most range. its quite exellent and having stylish slim design which atttracts every one. i have been using this phone since 2 weeks after it got released.no complains from my side till now.u shuld use the phone the way it is created.in a good way.it just an awesome phone

I bought the phone recently and after two weeks, turning it on one morning, though the keypad would light up, the screen wouldn't come on. I ran the update tool offered on the Sony website and followed the instructions. After two days Ive not had any problems but id be interested to find out if the other reviewers or the Editors of this site have tried running the updates and re-installing the software and still experienced issues with reliability. [Editor's reply: Sorry, no experience of this, but judging from the other user reviews I woudln't hold out much hope.]

I have had this phone for around 5 months now. I aobsolutely love it and was very very shocked with the bad reviews it has received! i have had no problems with it, bar once where it completely froze and it had to get sent off for a software update, and bar that, its been amazin. i find it really easy to use. the key board is so easy to type with. i love its fun features, thanks to sony's brilliant software. i would definately recommend this phone to other people who are after just a fun, cute phone. i do not really use the mp3 player or camera on it so i can not really comment on these features.

first time i see W705..Oh!!I LOVE IT,I just use three month only.=.= Now i want throw in the Trash..I HATE.HATE.HATE.W705..no network coverage..Bluetooth currently unavailable..Battery cannot charge..IF CAN..I GIVE IT NEGATIVE 5 STAR..DONT.DONT.DONT.BUYYYYY

Interface is smart. Battery life, good. Wifi function is nice. Design and build quality is above average. Walkman function and headphones are excellent. Keypad is not good for "touch texting". It's hard to distinguish the keys with just touching it. Camera is pathetic. Worst one I had. Thinking of getting an Aino.

I was looking around for a new phone for a couple of months and made my mind up to go for a sony ericsson W705, i knew the music aspect would be great and it looked nice so went for it. A few days later i read some reviews which wernt great and just hoped it wouldnt happen to me!! The next day i turned my phone on and my pictures had vanished, my music had vanished, it kept saying please insert sim? Please insert memory card?! It also started to cut off during calls. This phone is honestly the worst phone ive ever had, you'd be better off with a pigeon. I now own an LG Cookie and it is the best phone ive ever had, would recommend it to anyone but stay away from Sony Ericsson!!! USELESS 0.0 stars

most awful phone i have ever had .. have had this fone since july 09 and have just foned up to change my 4th handest.. the fone likes to turn itself off.. once its turned back on it likes to freeze.. and when i have full signal all it says it emergency calls only or no network coverage.. am waitin to see what o2 say about changing it to the w995 model due to the number of handests and problems i have had.. hopefully that wont be as poor as the w705.. wouldnt recommend this phone AT ALL!

Already added a review for this phone, where it seems I had rose tinted glasses for it. I still do very much like my phone but tonight it has broke again and this is the second time now since March this year and I'm stuck with it for another year. In a nutshell, when it works it's fantastic. When it doesn't, it's a pretty serious problem normally.

Absolute rubbish, have had it for 2 months and have experienced much of what has been said here already. Tells me I have no photos/music when I do, then today I turn it off and now it wont turn back on no matter what I do. Sick to death of taking crappy phones back to be repaired. Dont bother.

Simply, no. Avoid this phone. On paper it sounds like a really good phone at a reasonable price. It does tick all the feature boxes, wifi, hdspa, etc. but it has one fundamental flaw. Every month, like clockwork, I get a message appearing claiming 'Can't connect to the netw.' Nothing will resolve this. It's been 'fixed', it's been reflashed, the software has been upgraded all amounting to nada. This phone is useless. Admittedly, when this error does happen, reflashing the firmware DOES give you the functionality back, however, you'll have lost anything stored on your phone to date aswell as having to know you'll witness this again in another month. No thank you.

Like the phone, have updated the software 3 times now, most recently about 3 weeks ago. Still get the occasional 'cannot find media' or the media simply dissapears and the phone needs a reboot. Battery life has suddendly changed dramatically from a week (don't use phone that much), to around 2 days max (literally hardly use at all)! Should be a good phone, feels much better than other recent efforts (w900i springs to mind) problem with SE is that there is obviously a problem with their testing department, phones get rushed out to the market too quickly which gives them a bad name when all the problems roll in.

awsome phone... that is when it actually works. first my media files can't be found, then my menu don't work and last but not least i can't sms or make a call!!! basic functions of a phone. the w705 is my first sony ericsson and definetley the last one!

Had the phone for 4 months, seems good at first. Suddenly images were not displayed properly. So tried turning the phone off and on again all of a sudden my SIM isn't recognised, there's no network coverage, and the 'battery cannot be charged'. Can i update my the software. No! i have just 30% battery life.
