The Sony Ericsson W300i is a small and neat clamshell design weighing 94g. It is an excellent mid-range camera phone with a built in Walkman.
The phone has a very basic VGA camera with video. Although this is typical for this price range, there are better available such as the Z610i and the V630i which both have a 2 megapixel camera. It has a Video DJ function allowing you to create video sequences by combining video clips with sound and images.
The display is a very bright and clear TFT screen which allows you to see it even in bright sunshine. It has 262k colours and a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels.
This phone has an excellent music player supporting MP3 format and a stereo FM radio. As this is specifically a Walkman phone the music player has features such as shuffle, loop and playlist giving you control of what you listen to. The FM radio also features RDS meaning information such as traffic reports and special offers can be displayed on the screen.
The W300i has 40-voice polyphonic and MP3 ringtones. The 40-voice polyphony means that 40 notes can be played simultaneously. It also features Music DJ which allows you to create your own polyphonic ringtones.
It has 20 MB of internal memory and the option to extend it with an external memory card. This is excellent in comparison with some other phones within this price range.
The phone also has excellent connectivity with Bluetooth, USB, infrared and Fast port. Bluetooth and infrared let you wirelessly connect to devices while USB allows you to connect to your PC via a cable.
The W300i can connect to the internet with EDGE which provides fast data speeds. EDGE provides the fastest connection speeds available on a non-3G phone.
The battery life is one of the best amongst other phones in this price range with up to 400 hours of standby time.
This phone will work in Europe, America and Japan as its operating frequency is quad-band.
Other features of this phone include a speakerphone allowing you to talk handsfree, a sound recorder and flight mode operation allowing you to continue to listen to your music without interfering with the signals whilst flying.
Overall this phone has excellent features and is great value for money. We would recommend this product.

have had the phone six months, then after charging was greeted by a flashing white screen, there is nothing you can do to bring it back to life,certainly no help from sony,if you are contemplating purchasing one, visit website, (sony ericsson white screen of death) if you still buy one , best of luck.

This phone is good. It lasted with me for 4 years and 3 months until it was stolen away when I was boarding bus. Overall, it was good except for the camera. It's user friendly too. Since I lost the phone, I am deciding which phone is affordable in price and a good replacement for my w300i..i miss this phone... :(

i love this phone had it for bout 2 an a half years, am accident prone so av dropped it in the toilet 3 times, left it out side in a thunderstorm accidentally, dropped it god knows how many times, stood on it, dropped it down stairs both concrete and carpeted and so much more an its worked for 2 an a half years just recently its broke, i want another one but cant find it anywhere :( XxX

Very durable.my friend also hav this phone and they accidently threw it at a wall. still wasn't broken. the screen has never frozen and its still got a good battery life after having it for 4ish years

I think this phone is a good phone and i went serching for this model just because i like it the only problem i have with it is the speaker stoped working i took it back to the shop it was fixed and worked fine for a few months (till the warenty was up) then stoped working again so now i have a silent sony ericsson

well i have a problem i have this mobile and its giving me a very good time but my main problem is that i canot get to upgrade the volume of the fone, am a driver an i dont really hear it when it is ringing. so plzzzzzzzz help me out

I have a problem with this phone disconnecting by itself.I tried to get my service provider to replace under guarantee but the road blocks are starting to get bothersome.I can't find a replacement and now the want me to send it for repair.3 weeks without a phone is unacceptable.

i believe that this phone is reasonably good value as it has lasted me 2 years now. It's only flaw for me is the camera as it is not good quality ( only 0.3 megapixels!) The music player is awesome !!!!! :)

i had my w300i for about a year the phone has been quiet good up untill now it is freezing up and now the screeen is blanking off, also some songs on the phone are beging to skip and stop.IS anyone else having these problems

I had this phone for about 2 years and after a while it started to freeze, I exchanged it for a w890i but only got £5 for it!

I've had this phone for 2years now, at first, everything was great, but for a couple of months now, it keeps freezing every 2 call or so. When i turn the vibrating option on, it does 100% of the time. The only way to turn it back on after this happens, is to take out the battery and replace it. And i don't know why but sometimes the sim card just isn't recognized...

i have used this phone for alomost 3 years. it is still with me but now i am having some problem with its screen when i open the flip up the screen gets blank and after opening n closing it several times i get to see the menu. i wanna sell it out now. overall its a v nice phone. except for the camera.....it doesnt have a good camera.

The best thing about this phone is the walkman. It can hold many songs and the micro SD card helps. However the camera is very poor quality but the phone can store many images and videos. I have had a problem that sometimes when i shut the phone, it turned off. It is quite compact and is good for people who like phone charms. I would reccomend this phone for good games like quadrapop. I have been addicted trying to beat my top score! The applications are ok and i find the calendar very useful and easy to use. I do find however that the earphone/charger plugs are very delicate and easy to break. I would also reccomend getting the phone in black as i have dropped the phone (on a few occasions!) and it has scratched it quite a lot. The navigation button can get quite dirty and is difficult to clean. The buttons take a while to get used to but i find they are very good for texting as they are spaced apart. The various themes are excellent and you can use animations for background and screensavers. This phone is very durable and i would recommend it for its value for money. : )

I luv this i luv everything about it's so good for Music i got this phone on ma birthday on 2 October 2007 i've went through 2 of them one went in the sea forgot it was in ma pocket LOL. i hate this phone. i got it around christmas of '07 and i had to replace it twice, because it had crashed, like a computer, only worse, it wouldnt do anything but show a white screen. in my opinion this w300i is one of the greatest se ever built... i have it for almost yearr and a half, no problems encountered, only one thing.. the wobbling clampshell, but it is normal for everyday use, although the camera is not so good. if you like good cam take a k-series w-series are designed only for music..so dont expect the w-series good on cam

i love this phone, best phone u've had yet, although lately it hs gone weird...the front screen goes blank instead of displaying the desired images, i dont know what is wrong with it but im hopeing i can get it sorted soon.

Like most SE phones this one seems ok on paper but in reality it's not much cop. Fiddly buttons, poor camera and I've had problems with the battery life. I charge it up and the next thing I know it's dead on me. Sometimes taking battery out fixs this, but then I've lost half of the charge, and that's if it even comes back on. Sometimes have to recharge battery. I'm not even a heavy user, I don't use mp3 player, bluetooth or nuffin. It,s really only for emergemcies and it let me down the other day when me car broke down. Was looking at replacing it with another SE phone but changed mind after reading reviews here.

I've had this mobile 2 yrs and its only ever frozen once, recently, which is pretty understandable considering the amout of times I've dropped it. its defo a very durable phone. great quality music, but not the best if you like to take and store lots of picture, the camera is terrible! the only problem I've found is that i had to replace the headphones twice because they kept breaking in the same place! but that is likely to be the same with all SE phones definitely a great mobile for the price, and looks gorgeous in white and long and you dont get it dirty!

I've had my phone for over 2 yrs.It has worked as good as it could.My only issue was buying it from Air Source......never again.This "white screen" I keep reading about has never happened to my phone.My only real issue is the charger that comes with it is kinda crappy.It has a small screen and small numbers but you know that when you buy it....so how can you biatch. I love my w3ooi it is the best phone I have ever owned. I have only given it four stars becuase (this is probably my fault) I have dropped it a few times the top half of the clamshell is wobbley. It is gorgeuas in white and nioce in green aswell. I hope they bring out a new version of it as I love it. Whoever says the camera is rubbish are lying for a phone with 0.3 megapixles it is amazing.

I loved this phone when I got it. Good phone, MP3 and radio. Not bothered about the camera. Only downside was that it took a long time to switch on. But several months after getting it, the phone started to switch itself off periodically. Not a problem. But now it seems to be off more than on and have missed several vital calls because of it. The battery is fine, so its not that. The Carphone Warehouse recommended a software update, only there doesn't appear to be one for this phone. So don't buy this phone if you need to ensure you receive incoming calls.

I really liked this phone, until the front screen broke after a couple of weeks and it started turning itself off and crashing after a few months with it. Its a nice little phone and cheap too, recomended just make sure you don't keep dropping it etc. Camera is rubbish quality, but i didn't buy the phone for that. Internet is okay too.

i got the walkman recently and men its been nothing but an angel of a phone. there's so much i do with it i don't even realise that time is flying. starting with the music, its great and the grahpics are excellent. sometimes i upload videos just to watch at boring functions. i also like the fact that u learn something new everyday. for example, pressing the external + button (the orange ones) changes the track to the next one, if in radio mode it picks the next station. also if the headphones are not connected the music won't switch on which is good bcoz you mite press it and switch on the player thereby wasting battery life without knowing it. it also good because it recharges very fast compared to other phone makes overall it has outshone the models i've had such as the motorola (so frustrating) and nokia ( a bit too simple to use).

This phone is amazing. I'm 14 and I've had it for 2 years now and it's only collected a few scratches. This phone is very durable; my friends and I have thrown it across fields and have only loosened the hinge. It fits very well in a pocket or purse. The only cons are that the camera sucks and the memory is very limited for the walkman feature, but it can hold a lot of pictures (I currently have 74 pictures in the phone memory right now). All in all, this phone is one I would reccomend

Bought my son one of these about 18 months ago on PAYG. It looks good, it makes telephone calls, sends texts and has a half decent camera/video. If you listen to the music with headphones on (or in) it sounds great. Thats what I paid for thats what I got. It's a W range mobile not a K or C, thats why the camera isn't brilliant and the music is. In the 24 months since he's had it, it got "stuck" once. I removed the battery, put it back in and no problems since. Issues with this phone: I have difficulty removing the battery cover - but I have to do it so infrequently it's not a genuine issue. I don't like the configuration of the keys. But then it's my son's phone not mine and he hasn't complained. Good points. It's very easy to work your way round - like all the Sony/E's I've used. My son likes to change covers every now and then and there are some intersting ranges around that'll make your phone look cool. Xfer of music is p easy once you've successfully installed the software on the PC. It makes clear, good quality phone calls which is why I bought it for him. Most people forget that it's a mobile phone and not really a camera/walkman/camcorder/computer blah blah blah. If he lost it or broke it I'd buy him another one without question. Although he's a bit older now and would want a gadget phone instead. Overall Opinion. Excellent Value for the Money - £6- or 70 including £10 credit

this is the best ive ever had but my old one was a saygem my v55! its not very loud, scraches easy and has the old walkman v.1, the internet is useless and dont get me started on the camrea. after 10 months of easy light useage its strarted to squeak when i open it and when i type. the white one is the best colour it looks good the outside screen is poor but it works well. this phone is better than and wouth the extra £10 over the w200. but with newer walkman phones out i dont recomend it much anymore

the fone is not that bad at all... i've had mine for a year now and its still going strong,, sadly my brotha has the same W300i,,, and its doing those funny things like switching it's self off to having the screen go blank.. now the speaker is not working,,,basically i just think it work quite well for a year--ten just dies on you!!

you can change songs without opening it, just hold down the volume up/down button for longer. however mine sort of fell apart, the screen on the outside stopped working, and after a bit so did the inside one. it does freeze every so often, but sorts its self out.

Agree, really great phone for a short time, then BAM!! White Screen of Death hits and everything else starts to fail too. Not at all impressed and I really don't think it is acceptable that large corporates like Sony Ericsson are getting away with issuing phones that are prone to faults due to software failings. Surely this is no longer an acceptable excuse. Money back or product recall please Sony Ericsson.

A really great phone for the money, until it breaks. I bought my W300i just over a year ago and haven't regretted it a minute, until the screen went dead a month after the warranty expired. Built in life expectancy is rubbish and I am seriously considering if Sony Ericsson will get my custom again.

best phone ive had easily. ive dropped mine on the floor loads and it seems to not break at all. i have the black version which looks nice. only bad thing about it is the camera i would say, it only a VGA so it has no megapixels. the buttons are easy to use and mine hasnt yet froze. this is my old phone but i am using it because my other ones getting repaired, so this one has outdone my newer phone. overall this is a really good phone.

I have got the Sony Ericsson W300i and it is a very good phone, Although my memory has been taken up in 1 year. it is the green one and I haven't seen many people with it. All in all it is a really nice phone. I admit I have dropped it a number of times but it is still in working order. It is also a nice phone to hold.

I got this phone a while ago way back when it came out. I loved it since then it still works and I've passed it down. The camera is ok for a phone - if people are complaining then don't because its not a phone which best feature is the camera. To be honest you have to be paitent if you want the camera to be good some of the pictures I took are amazing. I love the walkman which is its main feature. The in-ear earphones are annoying I got the rubber thing stuck in my ear! LOLS. Anyway... they are the best type of earphones so don't complain. Have had no problems at all.. overall a good phone :)

I had this phone for Christmas, and at first I didn't like it because of the camera but after a couple of months I LUV IT!! Until I lost it on a bus and went through days into finding it...I wish that I'll have it back soon...The best phone I ever had...I have the lime green one, goes well with the Walkman symbol on it

Cant say the cameras great. But its good enough. Id definately reccommend this phone, if you just dont mind taking the odd picture now and again. Also, the walkman is brill. Sound quailty is good too. Ive had this phone ages. Ive dropped it so many times. (Im fair clumsy ) Phone has a fair decent memory as well. My bluetooth works very well. And my screen has never broken. I have noticed that when you close the phone, the top flip part does tend to wobble just a tiny bit. But its never broken and nothings gone wrong with it. Never had one problem with it! Ive dropped it in water and it still works. Probably one of the best phones ive ever owned. Definately RECOMMEND. :D

i am experienceing the phone freezing and i cannot hear the peerson on the other end without putting on speaker. It is though a great phone to use the pictures are great looking i had ppl blutooth pic and videos to it and it looks really good. I love the headset with all the voloum it locks off all other noises from the outside. easy to transfer to computer and pics still look good

There is an issue, and thats the screen, it brakes every second, and the music player is limited and the bluetooth is the 2.0 verson, very slow and does not pick up other bluetooth devices.

Er. . . I Like The Phone. . . The Music Player Is Brilliant, It Rivals My MP3 Player, The Camera Isn't Brilliant, But It's OK. The Only Problem I've Had With The Phone Is That It Has A Faulty Folding Joint, When Closing It Turns Off. I've Tried To Have It Repaired, But It Didn't Work. Apart From That, Excellent.

This phone worked great until a few months ago when I started getting text messages "from" people that I knew they weren't from. (ie, My grandmother has no idea how to text message; I'm positive that she's not the sender, but her number is what shows up) If I'm on a call or have the phone open when I receive a text, then I can't read it. Sometimes people don't receive my texts, other times they come in with blanks in them. I've never had this problem with Cingular before, but it's an issue with this phone.

Its been a very reliable phone. it has gd memory, great music facilities bt the camera, wel it sucks, i don't know if this is possible but the picture quality has gone down hill since i first got it... I can't complain though it has served me well but i'm not hesitating to get a new one after the 2 years we've spent together - no offense w300i!

It is a great phone but sometimes when you have downloaded something e.g songs from bluetooth or from cd to phone you turn on your phone and its not on your phone so you have to wack it a few times and maybe the songs might appear. Also occasionally the phone might freeze up so your stuck. Plus the back is hard to open. But once you have got the hang of the controls and all your songs have appeared it is a great phone the highlight is the mp3 it is really cool

I've just bought this mobile at polish shop and after about 4 months it's broken. Both screens and phone are unavailable to normally use. I must wait 2 weeks. But it's very good phone to Internet, pictures, MUSIC, calling, and SMS-ing.

The Sony Ericsson w300i is perfect for you if you only use your phone to play music, as it has a brilliant walkman mp3. It can have as much memory as you like as you can as it has a memory card slot. These are all good points but this phone is not a dream if you like to take pictures. The Sony Ericsson w300icamera has a very poor quality and this is the main reason i would not recommend it.

i have this phone and its hard to explain..see it has okish camra good battery life good space but its not the prettiest but then again u can alwase buy a phone cover (thats what i did) i was expecting so much more from it..its really small and not great recording unless you get it off mp3..just dont over charge it..you can get really bored of it!

I got this phone 6 months ago when I got a message: SERIOUS ERROR: CALL CONTACT CENTER and then the white screen of death. I have had a dozen or so cell phones over the years. My big walky talky motorola phone worked better that this phone. The buttons on this thing are hard to push unless you have a long fingernail and I don't want to walk around with a long index fingernail, looks bad, you know? The volume isn't loud enough unless you use the headphones. And why can't sell phone companies use the standard 3.5 mm jacks like mp3 players. I hate to admit it but my ipod works way better than the mp3 player on this thing. Don't buy this phone or you may regret it.

I have had this phone for 2 years now and I'm quite satisified with it. The battery life is ok, though I don't speak very much. It lasts approximtely one week. A big drawback is that people whom I talk to have problems hearing me. I have to repeat everything I say and almost scream into the phone and keep the microphone really close to my mouth. Therefore, I usually use the handsfree speaker or the headphones, and interestingly enough, people hear me much better then. Two other drawbacks are the small display and the poor quality of the camera. But since I don't use my phone for taking pictures it's not a problem. The cable is also very handy for transferring music. All in all, I think the phone is well worth the money.

If you are thinking about buying this phone, dont!! I will tell you about the white screen of death, it basically renders the phone useless as it is not possible to see texts, incoming calls, or anything that requires the use of a properly working screen. Its not just a blurry screen it is 100% white, and my phone started this nonsense 2 weeks after the warranty expired, sony you ought to be more responsible for you products and step up your consumer relations by replacing these junk phones. This is a defect that has been responsible for the demise of thousands perhaps millions of your phones worldwide, not only am i wasting my money buying sony products i am also wasting valuable resources that end up causing more problems for this planet. Step your game up Sony, either you start making quality products or you ought to extend your warranties until you can do so!! So frustrated with your greedy and unethical ways, im pissed! On that note consumers beware of this phone and perhaps sony products alltogether, this is the last time i purchase anything Sony.

I have had this phone 1 year and 5 months and for me it has been perfect, no problems at all. Sometimes the camera quality can annoy me as it is not that good, but it does have very good memory for music, photos, videos etc. I am only getting a new phone soon because I have seen a new one that I really like, but that is the only reason. In my opinion it is a VERY reliable phone and I love it and would DEFINATELY recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good memory, reliable phone. LOVE IT!!!xx

after you have this phone for a while,a white screen will appear and stay there for a while....then after about an hour it will let you see the screen....but other than that this phone was cool....

What a brill phone. Godo storage, music, music sound quality, gaming, nice features, easy to use, i love the buttons, if in good light good camera. Wow..go and buy it! Its dirt cheap.

This phone looks nice but a few months after warranty expires, White screen of Death!! Now what?? The thing does not work, except every 50 times you open the thing and then it dies again. Sony should recall the things like a responsible manufacturer would do to support happy customers. Hopefully Someone from SONY actually will read this. Let me write the notice for you.
