It turns itself off. It says memory full even when there is loads of memory left. But worst of all the phone sometimes loses all of it's battery charge, even when it was fully charged hours earlier. This could leave me unable to make a call in an emergency. I've already taken it back & they replaced the battery, but it is still happening. I can't wait to get rid of this phone. And my next one won't be a Sony Ericsson. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by toria wheatley @ facebook on 16/11/2011 Hi, I think the phone looks pretty cool, and the music features are nice but no point without a memory card!! Every now and then I go to text and it says 'no memory' and I have to restart the phone to send one. Restarting the phone is a drag, takes forever to fire up! Thank god im getting the HTC sensation next month lol. Although I have been a loyal sony ericsson buyer for many many years. Even at 25.00 which is how much I spent on mine, a phone with less problems than more would have been nice! not happy really Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Amy on 03/11/2011 I don't usually leave online reviews for goods. But the Spiro is such a bad phone that I feel I must. I never buy expensive flashy phones, so don't have high expectations. But the Spiro is the worst phone I have ever had. The screen scratches easily, it is very, very slow, it frequently freezes or the screen goes blank, and the predictive text is infuriating - coming up with complete nonsense words. I bought it because I used to have a Sony Ericsson Elm, which was really good, and the shop assistant in the Orange store told me that the Spiro was very similar. It doesn't compare! I wish I'd read the reviews of this phone before going ahead and buying it! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Nicola on 02/11/2011 I bought a Spiro a couple of months ago. I had previously owned an old Sony Ericsson and found it so reliable. However, i am very dissapointed in the Spiro. The texts keep sending old ones to my contacts when i am trying to reply to their latest texts, i downloaded and paid for games that the phone cant even open ( after telling me it was compatable) It keeps telling me I am out of memory and freezing. For a basic phone, £40 is not cheap!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by MrsM on 29/10/2011 Well, actually I think this mobile phone is OK. But that's because I bought it to use as a *PHONE*, not as a camera, music player, to connect to the internet, or to do the washing-up! It's compact, but has a reasonable size pop-out keyboard which is usable by the average size human fingertips (unlike the new Qwerty type keyboards!! Technology gone mad!). As other users have said, if you want a decent music player or camera, then buy them separately - but don't expect miracles on a cheap phone like this. The only slightly annoying thing is that the phone beeps every time it switches networks. Apart from that, it's fine. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Uncle DICK on 24/10/2011 I brougt this phone a month ago, wow what a pile of junk problem with memory card, call quality non existant, screen issues, rubbish buttons, bad reception the list goes on, I put it out of its misery by droping it from floor 36 of my council block Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Rico on 20/10/2011 I hate this phone. I had a SE W810i and I needed a new phone so I bought the Spiro W100. In this edition the camera is a 3.2 MP, but it is lousy in comparison to the old W810i 2 MP camera. Also I copied my MP3 files from the W810i memory card to my PC and back to the memory card of the Spiro, yet the Spiro MP3 player really sucks as it doesn't play half the files. It doesn't even see them on the card. The File Manager can't freely access the memory card as it could on the W810i. I really hate this phone and I'm NEVER going to buy Sony Ericsson again!!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ann on 10/10/2011 I use my mobile for mainly texts and the odd phone call. I have had the Sony Ericsson Spiro for 7 months. I do not like how, when I receive a message I can view it now because I cannot reply to it in 'view now' mode and I cannot see the whole of the message anyway. It takes several clicks to get to the message to read it and several more clicks to get back to the menu. I prefer predictive texts but the Spiro predictive text suggests long words rather than simple ones and I have to choose a word and then delete the last few letters to get the word I want. The final straw is in the last few days, I get blank texts which have the message 'corrupt message'. I understand this to be a software fault and I have to purchase a USB coneection in order to download software to correct the fault. Not happy at all. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by ann from worcester uk on 10/10/2011 worst phone i have ever had has a mind of its own does strange things will never buy another sony ericsson phone what a complete waste of money they should recall them and give every one there money back Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Karen on 09/10/2011 Terrible phone. Addictive little game on there but that's all. Apparently it's good for music, but doesn't come with a USB cable so can't even get music on there. Bought a compatible memory card to get music on that way - sadly memory card wasn't recognised. Apparently this is a known issue, and can sometimes be fixed by installing new software; USB cable required. Doh. Don't bother with this phone - terrible. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Phone Updater on 06/10/2011 I have seen many bad bad reviews about the sony ericsson spiro, the phone is not the problem, yes it lacks in lagtime, and is slow but its not bad. to overcome this problem then you must do this, when you first buy the phone, switch on normally and update it directly from the settings of the phone (you must have internet allowance)it will update immediately, keep on doing this at the end of every month, you will see the difference, your spiro will run smoother and 10% faster each month. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Deano on 05/10/2011 andrew What you smoking??? "For the price it does what you need it to do" Are you reading the same reviews as me, a lot of these reviews state that the phone does not do the basic things even cheap mobiles should do adequately without problems, like text messaging, internet usage, listening to music, scrolling, this is in addition to turning itself on and off, now I am not a phone guru, but I dont think people spend money, now matter how much, for the phone to turn itself on and off, and have ongoing problems using the most basic of functions on todays mobile phones. Think you need to do more reading instead of just looking at the pretty stars on each review and giving an opinion thats patently wrong!!! However, kudos on your experience with the phone. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Matthew holmes on 02/10/2011 I bought this phone expecting it not to be very good, but it is the biggest pile of gobbledigook ever!! seriously, what a load of old tosh. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by David on 01/10/2011 This is the worst phone i've ever had in my life. Randomly freezes and what is 5mg of memory? Rating: ![]() Reviewed by shane on 30/09/2011 an awful phone - i have mine less than a year in which time the battery lifetime has degraded considerably + it started to hang and switch itself off for no reason.now its un-usable, as it does this every time i try to make/take a call or write or open a txt. tried to take t back to the shop, but i have lost the reciept so no luck there. rubbish - just bought a nokia replacement Rating: ![]() Reviewed by judy on 28/09/2011 I will never buy any other Sonny Ericson handset, i bought Spiro, the guy i love texted me and i did not reply, the worst part of it is that the txt said if i did not reply he would leave and i would never see him again, in the midst of trying to call him the phone goes off and it froze on the start up screen, could not borrow a phone coz i was far from people who had phones and who could help. He left and i threw my phone against the wall and i cursed Sony Ericsson, if i could sue them, i would, just to make them feel the way i felt, they are ruining people's lives with their B.S phone they should take it off the market. I hate Sony Ericsson and i will never ever buy any of their products again,it served them right that during the U.k riots they lost a lot of property, those swindlers....Nkt i have lost my faith in them. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Comic book guy on 11/09/2011 WORST PHONE EVER Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ankur Chowdhury on 09/09/2011 Just don't buy this phone. I've this phone and this the the worst phone I've ever come across. I bought it in December 2010 and in these 9 months, it has visited the servicing center 5 times. When I'm writing this, the phone is still with the servicing center. They have updated the software, have replaced the motherboard twice but the problems still persist. Below are some of the problems i face: -> Frequent hanging -> Frequently getting switched off -> Out of memory after sending one message. -> Letters from names in phonebook getting deleted -> Recent call-list button stops working JUST DON'T BUY THIS PHONE. 100% WASTE OF MONEY. I actually rate it as "-1". Rating: ![]() Reviewed by sarim on 07/09/2011 hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Lindsay V on 30/08/2011 This phone is proper rubbish, it isn't a walkman phone i don't care what anyone says!!! When you are listening to music and someone tries to call you it cuts the call off and locks up. When you use the camera it locks up. infact you can't really do much with this phone without it locking up. You then have to take the battery out to switch it off!! I wouldn't mind but Carphone Winehouse have replaced this phone 4 times brand new out of the box, plus a repair and a refurb none of them have worked. Carphone Winehouse. My friend bought the same phone from Argos and she had the same problems so it's nothing to do with a dodgy batch it's just a seriously rubbish phone DO NOT BUY!!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Daniel on 29/08/2011 I got this cellphone as a gift from my mother,it's lame, though it has a great speaker, but a mobile speaker can be bought.Actually, not recommended,if you can wait to get another one, just do it,but if you're in need, you'll sorry for buying it,and the auto shut-downs are REALLY annoying. Warning steer well clear of this one Rating: ![]() Reviewed by EddieBulfin on 07/08/2011 I had the phone for 2 weeks when all texts (received and sent) were showing as blank pages on the phone and on any phone I sent the text to. Tesco's store in Trowbridge were excellent and told us it waqs a memory problem, so we put in a new 2GB memory card and the same thing happened. Tesdco staff immediately replaced the handset with a new one. Two weeks later this replacement phone did exactly the same, but the original receipt was not over the 28 days allowed by Tescos so the phone had to be returned to their Customer Services address. A week later the same phone handset was returned with a letter saying the fault had been found, repaired and the latest software had been installed. All went well with the phone for ....... Yes, you've guessed it two weeks. Returned to Tescos Store and told them it was not fit for purpose and that it was not of merchantable quality. Both these comments should make it clear that a refund is due, but the manager had to check and was told the Customer Services had to make three attempts to repair before a refund could be given. I did not want to make a fuss with the poor manager as his hands were tied by the red tape Tescos have set up. The normal statutory rights of any purchase are that a full refund should be immediate if the item is not fit for purpose or not of merchantable quality. Those two comments describe this phone perfectly. I have now been given the telephone number of Sony Ericssons repairs/ Customer Services so that I can get satisfaction from them. I will come back with a further review of this awful phone when I have had some replies from them and from Tescos head offices. There is no option to give 0 stars so I have left a 1 star, but the phone does not really reach that very low standard. My opinion, this is total rubbish and should be avoided at all costs. If you get the chance to buy one for £1, DON'T it would be a waste of the pound. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by John on 07/08/2011 This is Best poooor phone. It crashes often, and keeps saying it is "out of memory" when I try to send texts, even if i only hav like 4 texts in my inbox/sentbox. To create more memory you have to delete all texts then switch the phone back off and on again before it works.. which takes over 5 mins, and while switching on (which takes FOREVER) you cant write any texts or make any calls, which makes it useless in an emergency. After using this phone I willl NEVER own another sony erricson!! Biggest waste of money. Totally useless. And very very slow.
