I've had this phone for about a year and a half or 2 years and although it does feel a bit plasticy sometimes and like it could brake easily it is actually a really good phone. Even if it does feel like it could brake easy i've had mine quite a long time and it hasnt broken!! None of my keys have cracked and its fine! My keys havent cracked because i text with my fingers anyones who's cracked must text with their nails. Overall i think that it is a beautiful and stunning phone and i would reccommend it to everyone!!!! =]

Wow, what mixed reviews for this phone! I've had the purple version for well over a year now and been very happy with it. The keys did eventually crack but I haven't found it to be a problem - it's a very thin crack that doesn't affect how the phone works. Someone below wrote that closing the phone doesn't seem to end a call - that's not actually correct. I think it's a setting that you can change and mine definitely ends a call when I slide it shut. It looks lovely, slides nicely, and I don't find it cheap and plastic at all. Perhaps they are made of different plastic depending on the colour and finish, so feel different. E.g. mine isn't shiny like the one in the picture, it's matt purple with silver keys.

I've had mine a year and it's broken. I've had it fixed twice and there's always another thing wrong. They're nice phones but aren't always reliable.

I don't get why people hate this phone! 1) My keys haven't broken. 2) Screen quality is excellent. 3) Speakers and earphones have excellent quality. Just a few reasons to like this phone. I have had this phone a year and a half, i have dropped it ocasionly, but i have had NO problems. To prove it, i wrote this review with this phone!

My still doing great and i've had it for over i year now the only problem i've had is the other day i dropped it and the back bit thats not supposed to come off kinda unlatched itself and to my surprise the keys haven't cracked yet and when your in the music player if you shake it does any of yours like go landscape

I have this phone for over 2 years now and I still love it! The keys cracked within weeks. After contact with SE I was immediately offered to have them replaced but I didn't since the keys work fine.... Actually the feel of the buttons is even better now that they are all broken.... ;). Great phone, great looks, absolutely not cheap... Except for the keypad I've had absolutely no problems what so ever, though I did abuse the phone quite a bit (heavy user, dropped it a few times, sand in the sliding mechanism, etcetera) - but still everything works fine... Even the sliding is still very reliable (with some blowing the sand was removed). Superb phone... And nowadays very cheap. Do buy, and don't be shocked if keys break - once they are all broken the problem is solved! ;)

This phone is really pretty and nice to use. No sign of cracking keypads so i've obvs had a later model. I have had my phone for 1 and 1/2 yrs and when it does break I am going to reeeaaalllyyyy miss it! The only criticism is the screen is a bit sensetive and therefore scratches quite easily. Other than that a great little phone!

my phone was very good at the beggining, but about a month later, a wierd vibrating sound started in the back of the phone, i turnedit off, but it still went on, so i opened the back and saw this thing twisting making the sound, but there was no way to turn it off, and i still have no idea what it is!

I've had this phone for the last 2 years in purple and I have a friend who also has the same one. The keys did crack very quickly although this didn't affect texting and didn't bother me. Then the # key stopped working. This very same key stopped working on my friend's one as well. Shortly before my 1 year warranty ran out the screen stopped working. I got a replacement so was happy again. I've now had the replacement phone for the last year. Again, all my keys are cracked and the # key is tempermental at the best of times. However I do have some good things to say about it. It is stunningly beautiful to look at. The build quality can't be that bad (I drop my phones accidently alot!) and the features are great. Pros: Good value for money, very pretty, good camera, clear screen, small and light, good features. Cons: Keys crack and # key especially breaks, camera has no flash, battery life pretty poor.

I got the mysterious green almost 2 years ago and I loved it, the keys are metallic green and so is the back part that you see when you slide it open. It has gorgeous nature inspired wallpapers and the Everchanging theme was great, it changed wallpaper from day to night with different colored lights, for different seasons and holidays such as NYE, Valentines Day, and Christmas. The features are simple to use, it has expandable memory and the screen is nice. The 2mp camera is fine for amatuer photos but blurs considerably as it zooms. There are alot of downsides, the keys are definitely the main complaint, most of them cracked and I got them replaced under warranty, but now they are all cracked especially bottom right which I have to press a certain way to get spaces in texts. The paint chips around the cracks too. And the light shines through all the imperfections which looks tacky. The battery only lasts a day now, running out really fast if in calls or on the internet. After I dropped it a few times the sound went, the music player (which is normally pretty good) and call sound and everything else was coming out like static so I got that fixed at the same time as the keypad. It's not worth getting it repaired now out of warranty though I have been impressed with the amount of drops it's had onto concrete, tile and once even thrown accidentally across my yard and landed in the hard dirt and it's still working... what a trooper haha. But the bit of plastic on the side of the charger/headphone plug is snapped off at one end, and I don't think it's gonna last much longer. Overall I was happy but if I'd known all this would happen like the keys cracking, I wouldn't have gotten it. I think I'll get the W595 next... hopefully it doesn't let me down :)

Love it because i have been using it for like a month now and has been texting alot and still thd keypad hasnt 'cracked'.the keys will 'crack' only if u want to crack them and it who would want to crack them.the only niggle i have with the phone is that if you open more than 2 applications the phone will crash and the battery wont last long if you are always on the internet like less than an hour.if you want a phone that you can use for day to day normal functions like calling or texting this is your phone but if you want a phone that you will stay with it this is not the one.this is a phone for the simple who once in time you will want to download music or play java apps it will do it perfectly

it crashes/ freezes, the keys break, i dropped it once and the screen smashed. it looks tacky once you've had it a while as the paint on the keys chip. a complete waste of money.

Ahh. I had the floral phone for a couple of months, took good care of it, phone sock and all, but it kept freezing, over heating :( I was really gutted cos it's a dead good phone .. but after it doing it constantly after going back to repair I thought it was the make that was naff :( My camera was naff too! :( was quite fuzzy tbh which is a nightmare spesh on a cruise where my camera died, and my last resort was my trusty phone! I was wrong! :( It's alright. Nothing to brag about.

i have had phone for about a year, the keys have cracked, the case has snapped and people can't hear me when i call them. However i do like the phone itself, with the themes and navigation etc. Only buy it if you want it to last you for about a year!!!!!

I think this phone is quite good, depending on who buys it. If you're into taking photos, then maybe aim for a phone with a better camera - taking photos in the dark, even with night mode on, DOES NOT WORK with this phone. Or maybe it's just my phone :S. Sometimes freezes, so if you're impatient, don't buy this phone. But if you just want a phone for music/calls/texting, then this is the phone for you. Don't drop, my special edition Paris cover came off, now I'm stuck with a pink front and flowery back! : NOTE - girls, try and get the special edition Paris - its flowery design is really beautiful! :)

Had this phone for 22 months and only now it is beginning to die with the occasional freeze and "insert sim card" errors. I've even considered buying another! Would have been nice to have had radio and flash.

I do love the phone actually. I do think though that it wouldn't last long if one of my daughters had it with the amount of usage it ould get then. Quite right about the keys, all mine have cracked, in particular the bottom right which has nearly all disintegrated. Shame. So cute, feels nice, though the flat keys take a little getting used to. I have the purple one, just gorgeous. Ha ha

I love my phone but i am deeply disappointed with Sony for being so pathetic as to refuse to admit to their shortcomings with regards to the keys cracking. I have my phone about a year and half, and had several keypad replacements because of cracked keys, and now the key that spaces between words when texting isn't working at all and has cracked. I wrote to Sony before I bought this phone to enquire about the cracking keys problem and they said they didn't know what i was talking about. I recently re-sent them that letter (after several keypad replacements) and they STILL say they don't know what i'm talking about. It's a shame because, despite all the problems, I am really devoted to this lovely phone. It's colourful, nice to look at with ever changing graphics, fireworks for new year, hearts for valentines day. It takes a pretty good photo in daylight too.

I have this phone in purple and I love how it looks. I've had this phone for a while now, at least a year, and I've had no problems with keys cracking at all. I'm quite clumsy too, I can't imagine what people must be doing to it to make the keys crack. Apart from the odd small scratch on the purple surface, this phone has no damage to it at all. My only problems with it are the low memory (but I think I'm going to buy the memory card that I didn't know existed)and the fact that I couldn't connect it properly to my computer, but I susupect that's my own fault.

I've had my phone since Nov 2008. It took a good eight months until the keys started cracking, and I'm sure they would have lasted longer if I had not been so clumsy and dropped my phone about twice a day!!! The graphics on the phone really are lovely, and I'm struggling to find a new phone with similar graphics, because I'm so attached to them!!! This phone really isn't as bad as everyone's making out. Worth it for the price it's going for now, just �50. Probably best not to buy it if you're a complete klutz like me though!!!

I was sceptical about buying this phone after hearing a large amount of negative reviews, concerning the dodgy key pad, the quality of the handset, etc. but a year later and my little phone (the flower version) is still going strong! i havent had any major faults at all: the keys on the pad are still all intact, and only now are they beginning to scratch away, but only slightly. The battery usually needs charging every other day on average, which doesnt really bother me. the screen is good quality, clear and bright, which is a bonus for such a simple phone. i really do love this phone, but i'm searching for something more advanced, but im keeping this as a back up and simply because its fabulous! :)

I don't like this phone at all though the look is very stylish the keys actually fall off and crack. It is not waterproof at all as I only got a drop of rain on mine and the screen went weird and fuzzy. Sony Ericssons are definatley not made for a rough lifestyle!

I've had this phone a few months and so far, my slide has bust and started to grind. EIGHT of the twelve keys have cracked, 3 of which do not work AT ALL anymore. The phne has no flash which is a pain. I must admit, this phone is great, short term only. I personally don't suggest this phone to anybody, unless they are willing to buy another new phone a few months down the line. Over all, a big thumbs down to Sony Ericsson for this one. I'm switching to LG.

I had this phone for a very long time in the purple edition and i loved mine, no problems what so ever. I have out grown this phone now, Looking on getting the Sony Ericsson T700 rouge (any advice on my choice?) But I would recomend this phone to anyone, 5 stars from me!

I got this phone off ebay for �45 , in purple, its really pretty but feels sturdy. the keys are a little crakced on my phone but to be honest they are easier to use this way and they still feel quite strong! Overall very impressed so far, i love it!

I've had this phone for almost two years and loved it. Some of the keys have cracked but they still work fine so it doesnt bother me. I've also dropped it many a time, sometimes from a fair distance, and, although there's a few scratches, it hasnt broken. Until now. It fell from about a foot and the way it landed cracked the screen and now i can't see the middle of the screen. I have no idea how it happened. I wouldn't mind so much but I have photos and stuff on it that I can't get off because it won't cooperate with my computer. I'm not happy right now. Saying that it's served me well over the years so I can't complain too much.

i think that the phone is top quality and so worth it, i dont get why people are undergrading i have had the phone for over a year now and its totally fine. the only bad thing is that my number 3 is cracked but apart fromm that everything is fine. the battery is not rubbish. people that are complainig shuld just get a nnew fone without complainiing.

This phone is great!... i have it since 2 years and dropped it like a million time but it does not have a single scratch!.. yes the keys do crack but that is not a problem for me..only things that i miss is the Flash and Radio, otherwise i still love it, after using it so roughly, it still seems to be new.Lovely Phone.

I don't understand the 2-star rating! I have had this phone for 8 months now and it works perfectly well! The people whose keys have cracked must have very strange fingernails. The camera is really good and is probably better than my friends 3.1 megapixel, the music-player is really good aswell but it took me a while to figure out how to actually get the music on there! This phone is awsome and you should buy it!!!

I would say, dont waste your money, my screen got damaged 3 times in 1 and half year. key cracks and does not work. Service certer guys are pathetic. When i called up service center and talked to senior manager thy are not just ready to listen anything, ask me to pay for screen change and then talk. He disconnedted phone also..

I brought this phone 10months ago because I lost my phone at the time. Thought it was ok, nice colour (purple) standard design. However for a few months its been switching itself off alot which is annoying and the battery lasts about half a day if that and all I do is text few times a day! Now realised it was a waste of money as now needing a new phone as this just isn1t practical.

do not buy this phone. sure it looks great, but only 3 buttons remain on my phone. they haven't just cracked, but fell off! pain in the ass. my space button doesn't work and if people ring me they can hear me fine but if i ring them they cant hear me which is annoying. but the battery life is good, very good. no flash, but the camera aint bad either. the top bit of my phone has cracked to, around the menu buttons. best advice, good if you're looking something cheap but i would avoid to be honest.

Have this phone for 18months now, 8 out of 12 buttons cracked after 6 months of use! Camera dosen't want to work, it says "Another aplication is running. Close it, and then start the camera" the same comment for 6 months now!!! The worst phone I have ever had!!!

I loved this phone at first, it feels great, beautiful colours and some really good features. BUT my camera is rubbish! and now it is a almost a year old, it feels really old and it gets very stiff to push up. I have had no problems with the keys cracking though :)

i've had this phone for 8 months and overall its in pretty good shape. i've lost count on how many times iv'e dropped it nd after 8 months the buttons only began to crack now. the camera quality can be poor but it has its days where awesome pictures have been taken. music play is very good. when going through the inbox it tends to freeze but considering my inbox is full its pretty good. texting is a little hard but easy once u get the hang of it. when it comes to looks its the best phone i've had so far. Overall it's a really good phone and i recomend buying it.

i had this phone for 1� yrs and had no probs at all...until 2 days ago. the screen started to crack . my bad....as i mostly forget to push up from the bottom of the slider and instead slide it up with finger/thumb on the screen...lol. the keys are good, no cracking or anything and i have dropped the phone many times by accident or clumsiness. works a treat. but now i can't see anything but pretty blotchy colours from a cracked screen. worth the 199.00 au$ (pre-paid virgin).

Okay so the phone is pretty shoddily built, so if you're gonna throw it around don't get this =] but I LOVED this phone while I had it, totally regret giving it up. hi, guys out there never buy this phone it is horrible. I mean it. I just got this phone and 3 cracks already appeared. I mean what the hell. Those cracks were so not my fault. The camera has only got 2 mega pixeles. Well thats horrid. I didnt get this phone my dad got it as a surprise. The only upside of it is that it has that wounderful lighting at the side. I would have rated it 0 but unfortune there is no option.

I don't know about anyone else, but my s500i isn't falling to pieces. It's a trusty stylish phone, which to be honest I couldn't live without! I've read the other reviews & I think my phone must be a fluke, cos' my slider's fine & my keys don't crack at all. The memory's not too generous, but it's nothing a memory stick can't solve. I'd personally recommend this phone to people who aren't bothered about amazing features + just want to communicate.

had this phone for like 8 months. awesome. i have 250 java games (free and all work) videos and 400mb of music. the phone is super load. 160 photos but this phone is a piece of rubbish without the 2gb me card. very long lasting battery i still have a gb left which is cool yes the keys crack. boom. the thing is it makes absolutly NO differance. thats right NONE. they still work and i cant even notice that there cracked. so there goes that little disadvantage. The size of the keys is more of a problem then the cracking awesome lights on the side of the phone. best phone i've ever had. although all my others have been moterolas which are rubbish. my screen craked inside and i got a new sceen for $80 (aus. That was a mistake, because im hanging out for a touch, probably the samsung omnia... anyway hhah. worth bying, good slide phone. value for money. 10/10 (awesome cheap) speaker 9.5/10 games 10/10 (brilliant) camera 6/10 file manager 9/10 music, video and photo mixers (dj tools) 8.5/10 sound record 7/10 style 9/10 memory 2/10 (really needs a 2gb mem card) battery 9/10 keys 6/10 so yees there you have it

Okay, so I've had this phone twice. My first one I loved to bits, only sadly I lost it when I went to see Lee Evans live :( I had no problems with that one, except the keys cracked through the middle although this didn't cause any harm. Then I lost it. So I decided to buy the exact same phone again! This one - only the one key has cracked, but a couple of days ago the space bar suddenly stopped working. Like, you have to press it about 5 times for it to actually work - that's no overstatement. IT'S DRIVING ME MAD. Everything else seems to be okay I think, but for the sake of the space button, you probably shouldn't bother. Oh, there's a bit on the bottom of the keypad that's kiinda wobbly, though it was the same with my first one and didn't cause any problem. The screen on my newer one goes funny when you press on it - you probably shouldn't do that.

Excellent phone!! The colours on the display are brilliant and the MP3 player is really good. The camera is ok, although you can't zoom on pictures but you can on videos. BUTTONS DO NOT CRACK, even though people say so. I've had mine for nearly a year and ther is no sign of caracking or fading. Highly recomend it.

yes the phone does look great. i too was in love with mine when i first got it. after a few weeks the first key cracked. i had problems with the # key i had to hit it a few times b4 it would work. now it doesn't work at all. after a month or so it mysteriously turned itself off. the screen became fuzzy but it fixed itself. i've had to change between the s500i and my old mobile a lot because the s500i regularly gave up on me. the phone is now not even a year old and the screen will not light up at all. maybe a loose connection i can still play music on it. so not a happy camper

i got this phone as a gift, so far not had any problems, think i have had it 8 months. the camera could be better though as it blurs easily when taking photos. i think it is a nice phone easy to use and looks great. i have not had any problems with the keys cracking. im rather happy with it.

its good but my screen broke when it fell on the ground vand being bashed about in my pocket against walls when i was on my bike so it was my fault! but i got it repaired and now its good! the sound is amazing and i got the flowers design so it looks so cute! i would recommend this phone to anyone.I also love the way the lights on the side of the phone light up and change colour :D

DO NOT BUY THIS FONE!!!!!! i had this fone for three months at first it was gud enuff even tho the keypad broke which made it difficult to txt then it shut off nd deleted all my songs & pictures on my memory card which was expensive coz other ones arent compatible then a fuse like blew up inside it causing everything to crash!! worse fone EVER!!

This mobile after having it for one month had one button crack on it, I just ignored it but after a few months there are seven buttons cracked. I took it back to argos and it has gone away for repair, however on another site someone else had reported the same fault and apparantly there are many complaints all the same regarding broken buttons. The phone is ok in other respects, but the camera quality is not too good, adequate I suppose. i bought the phone as I love purple, just goes to show that you should choose a phone because of its capabilities and not what it looks like.

I love this phone but am about to change it to a C902 (just because I've had the S500i for 18 months and want a change!) The design is really beautiful (I went for the black version)and extremely user friendly, BUT I have had the same problems that others have talked about. My keypad completely broke within the 1st month of owning it, with all keys snapping in half, and, despite having it 'fixed', the space button is not working again. My bluetooth also broke the second time I used it. The lights at the sides of the phone also broken, actaully, and went perminantly red, even when my settings were meant to be green... The camera is also not great, which is why I have chosen a cybershot for my next phone. If you choose your phone for appearances (and honestly, I did) then this phone is wonderful, but if you like finctionality, perhaps choose something a little more robust. If you want both of these things together, then actually I would recommend a Nokia 7370.

i had this phone for a week now and i love it it dose everything it says on the tin and you people talk about the the keys, the keys are realy good and the sound oh my god the sounnd quality is the best the only bad thing is the phone dose not have a lot of memory but you can get a memory card superp wallpaper artwork the 2 megapixel camera and video camera is good really this phone is top class! my keys cracked after a month. then i got them replaced and they've cracked again, i've had my phone since july and now my screen flashes and practically has a fit and then crashes and suddenly decides to come to life again. hmmm any ideas? i thought it could be a phone virus from music files? it crashes when im trying to text but now its become more frequent and even when im not touching my phone. help?

Very, very good phone. I am selling mine now as I want a newer one for my birthday but it is nothing to do with the phone. I've had it since November 2007 and it hasn't chipped at all and I have dropped it a million times! I totally recommend this phone to everyone!

Ive had my phone since april last year and none of the keys have cracked, and the screen is fine, ive dropped it 3 times on concrete and it only has a small chip so they arnt as rubbish as every one thinks

I have this phone in purple, I hate it. I've had it since January 2008 and it chips every time you drop it, mine is covered in them, and sometimes when you drop it everything pops out, the front, back and battery. It also feels like a tacky piece of plastic and purple gets so boring after a while. Sometimes when you take photos and put them onto the computer there is a red line across it, sometimes it is blue and it ruins photos. The battery is pretty rubbish, it used to be better so I imagine it's just gotten worse cause I've had it for so long.

Ive had this phone for a yr now and overall its a god phone, it looks good, and if your careful with it doesnt scratch up too easily. the most annoying thing with it is the buttons crack and i had a glitch in mine that i got fixed. there is no flash on it which is also a pain but for its price its a good reliable phone if you dont mind the cracked keys!!

I haven't had any trouble with this phone as such, but i have to say it is very badly built!! The quality of the phone is horrible! It looks great online, but when i received the phone in person i was very disappointed in its workmanship! The screen doesn't even have a protect casing over it and the image can easily be distorted by applying pressure on screen. It's good for the price i guess, but even then i don't think it's good value. I've had sony phones before and they've been pretty good, but this is really disappointing quality from sony. I wouldn't recommend getting one unless it's really cheap!!!

hmm, ive had this mobile. but didnt experience any problem with it. i love the style,the evechanging theme, the colour--its all awsome. the buttons are tricky for ppl wit big fingers..lol. but they wer fyn for me. the camera and music is average. however i think this is probbly the best phone ive had !!

This Phone Is So Easy To Brake or Damage, Sliding it up or down, makes Scratch marks on The Back. The Back Cover Falls off repeatedly, IVE LOST IT 3 TIMES! Very Slow and Takes Ages To load, My Internet Doesnt Work= please Help Me With That Someone. My Advice is Look Somewhere else like The: Samsung J700 or Sony Ericsson W595.

After reading countless reviews on how bad this phone is, the keys crakcing and so on, I decided to try it out. I'm sooo glad I did! This is the best phone I've ever used and the envy of all my friends! The design is beautiful, expecially the everchanging nature theme. The keys haven't crakced and I've had it for about 4 months now. Oh and I'm a VERY heavy texter. Its easy to use, and the sound is great. Overall, I think anyone who wants a phone with good looks (lol), easy to use features, and good sound, this is the phone for you! Oh and btw, the memry is hardly anything at firstm but if you purchase a memory card its fine!

I've had this phone for about 6 months and had no problems. I only started reading the stories of cracked keys etc after I'd bought it so have been constantly worrying about it but so far no worries! I think people tend to forget that a mobile is a delicate piece of equipment, I mean you don't drop you digital camera on a regular basis so why be careless with a phone. And if you're too rough with keys they're gonna break. The phone has been a real eye catcher, now we need a 3G version with a better camera.

by far the cutest phone i've ever had, the theme is really cool too but all in all this phone has been a pain in the ass!! I had a one year warranty and within the one year i have had it i've sent it in to be fixed twice for the lcd to be replaced since the screen has no protection over it and one time because it just stopped working. There was no incident of water damage or dropping it at all but i spent more time waiting for it to come back for repairs (since the provider sent it to macau to be fixed >.<) Unfortunately my warranty ran out a little over a week ago and the screen is completely messed up and i cant even see it in sunlight b/c its so dark so i guess this time i'll go for a good quality phone instead of one that just looks cute

What a lump of junk! The keys started cracking within a week. Then after six weeks it died completely. I was initially attracted to the colour and the changing themes, but to live only six weeks is unforgivable on the part of Sony Ericsson. Their phones are pretty patchy at the moment, they make rubbish like this but also made the K800i which is pretty much indestructible. Something needs to happen with their quality control to stop these lemons being issued.

I bought the S500i when it was 1st released in the UK, it took about a week of use for the keypad to break, and everyone i've seen using one seems to have the same problem, also the screen moves and needs pushing back into place. The features are good though, the screen is clear as is the camera, the loudspeaker is very clear for a non mp3-centric phone, although it has an i dentical Walkman branded twin. I use a 4GB MS2 with it and this gives me plenty of space for everything i need to do. It is also lacking in 3G :(

I absolutly love this phone! I have heard about the cracking thing, but I have had it for 8 months and theyre all fine (haven't had any other problems either). If your phone has been made since may 2008 (it is marked on the battery like 08W15)then it's fine, the company improved the materials then. The battery last a week for me. The phone is totally gorgeous, the themes are so beautiful and everything about it really reminds you of nature. I would recommend it.

I have to agree with you all that their are many faults with this phone but otherwise its amazing. After the screen cracking on my s500i i recently bought a nokia 3500 which back earlier 2008 that was alot more expensive. After one week with it i was dumbfounded which how poorly and cheaply frabricated these nokia phones are, the display is the worst ive ever seen in a mobile phone and just looking around at its features it is obvious that nokia has made it for profit and not any quality is put in. For me im buying another s500i dispite its flaws, its a fantasically designed phone.

The speaker was not functioning right out of the box. Took it back to the Sony shop where i bought it from for repair and the guys at the customer service refused to take in the phone because they say Ericsoon is not part of Sony and they wouldn't warranty it.!! (huge Sony shop in KLCC Kuala Lumpur- don't buy your phones there!) The phone needs a 3 feet long antennae because i get no reception anywhere.. I always get the FOR EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY screen staring back at me. (my old Nokia brick has 4 to 5 bars at the same location). Battery only lasts 3 days despite minimal usage. I would rate this POS zero star...if i could.

I had the phone in may 2008 and it is a awful phone. it was fine but when it fell on the sofa one time (that was partly my fault) the back where the mechanical work goes on fell off and the phone after that would not recieve text messages which was a real pain, then i got it fixed and the on/off button from the top fell off. And now the screens very damaged and cracked and only shows part of the screen and it is continously playing the 'demo' over and over again so i cannot upload my pictures onto my pc. It does have some good points but overall a very bad phone.

I got this phone from KPN in Holland in March and it's still going now. I love it! It was great value for what's included. The MP3 player is probably the majoring factor with all Sony Ericsson phones and I've got to say this one is awesome! The battery power lasts for at least 3 full 24 hour days. Also the cute seasons theme included on this phone is great. The little lights at the side light up whenever necessary. The camera is pretty good, for a phone because come on, let's face it, most people have a decent digital anyways. I've faced no trouble with the keys, the screen never scratches, i've dropped it a number of times and it looks as good as new. It's stylish, easy, fun and all around a great phone.

I got my phone on Christmas, And When I charged it, The battery went flat straight away. I then tried charging it through computer, But that worked Great. I still can't charge it thtough the Plug Charger, But the USB connection lead works fine.

Had this phone since may.. really regret the purchase.. within a couple of months one button had cracked, another week and another button cracked, my hash button now sticks also, so cannot put the phone on silent or get a space on a text, and the battery life is shockingly bad. i really take care of my phones (origional protective screen cover is still in place) so this has not been handled roughly. Really poor quality!

The sony ericcson flowers doesn't seem to crack to be honest with you. I have had my phone for about four months and it is working fine ( with no cracks) apart from a fault with the texting which means that occasionally I have to reset it as it won't let me text until I do. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

I just bought this phone (November 08) at the stunning price of 120 euros (simlock free) and I have to say that apparently many things have been changes about this product... starting with the battery (lasts longer, and recharges faster),the internal memory is now 16 MB, the buttons are some type of metal, and more importantly the slide mechanisms is also all metal. But this comes at a cost there are now only 2 games pre-set on the phone, a fair trade off I think!!! All in all I think this phone is wonderful and has come a long way...

I had one of the first S500i�s last year, I gave up when the keys kept breaking, like many other people I thought it was me texting too much that was causing them to break. So I went back to my w810i (100% indestructible phone, though sadly now discontinued) until Sony Ericsson brought out the �flowers� design S500i in June this year. Sony had changed the design of the keys; they were less flimsy than its predecessor. Everything was fine with the phone until September when I stopped receiving texts or calls, I just thought may be I had upset people lol. If I turned the phone off and then back on again, I was inundated with missed call alerts and texts, when I viewed the details of the texts, it appeared they were sent hours before I got them, sometimes days. So I took it in for repairs, needless to say after two repairs I was told that I would be offered a refurbished model of the same phone as the repairs clearly hadn�t worked. Two days after collecting the new phone, I had the same problem so I once again contacted the CPW who have now offered me a completely different handset. Although the S500i is a lovely phone with many really good features, I won�t be buying one again, no matter what design they bring out!

I had this phone about a month and when i tuned it on in the morning most of the screean is black and looks crackesover time it has got worse. now when i go on to th camera the whole phone freezes and i have to take out the battery. i also noticed about a week or two ago one of the keys have cracked. I simply CANNOT believe or even take seriously that this phone reflects 'nature'. It has nothing to with nature at all. The carbon footprint it took to make, as well as it's non-biodegradable parts, all have nothing to do with nature or the environment! The phone died on me soon after purchase but even before then, the advertisers hype that it reflects nature was laughable - it's a blinking big lump of non biodegradable plastic! And to top it all they are so faulty they hardly have a shelf life so up and down the country they will fester, refusing to rot in landfill sites all over the country. Except of course if you buy one off ebay. Believe me none of the avertisers mention cracked keys when they try to sell them on, but ALL do, because I decided to e mail and ask them! Close to nature? Closer to the rubbish dump!

Works alrite, and its a decent looking phone. Buy yet again, this morning it has died on me and wont turn on, and thats just 3 weeks after getting it repaired by 'the car phone warehouse geeks'. Not impressed massivley by its wearability. So if you want looks buy it, but beware that it WILL break at some point.

I couldn't resist this phone when I saw it. A gorgeous purple colour, changing themes etc, it looked absolutely beautiful.The fact that it was a sony ericsson also attracted me as I'm an SE girl. What could go wrong I thought? Unfortunately I was beset with all sorts of problems. First the keys cracked after a week of light texting. Then the side lights would not go off, draining the battery. Following this it just died on me completely, black screen, no rintone, no calls in or out. I was devastated. No other phone had attracted me like this one. Having read several reviews on different sites I've come to realise that these very are common problems with the S500i. I feel betrayed by SE. That they could design and market such a shoddily built and unreliable phone amazes me. Because all these faults happened within a 28 day period I was offered a refund or exchange. Having read all the similar reviews pointing out the same problems which occurred even after repair, I naturally went for a refund.To all of you who are thinking you've got off scot free and have no cracked keys or other problems, believe me it's just a matter of time. The clock is ticking...

Avoid this phone like the plague! I was taken in by it's beauty, changing themes and the like. But now I live to regret it. The keys cracked within 2 weeks and I'm not a heavy texter. After just one month it died completely. Not a happy bunny. It looked so pretty too! But DON'T be taken in like I was. You'll live to regret it, believe me!

DO BUY THIS PHONE...IT IS THE BEST PHJONE I HAVE EVER HAD! I love and it includes all the features i would ever need and is sturdy and strong. i love the black and green because it is sophisticated and modern. It includes wonderful graphics and i would never give it up for the world! BUY IT!

i think this fone is amazing, yeh it does have some faults like the keypad cracking but that is about it, but it tink all fones have a fault with it! i think the everychanging theme is so good and how its clever to know wot the day it is and how to react to it! like on new years eve at 12 it had fireworks! although i want to get a new fone its not cos i dont like it but bcos i change my fone every year cos i get bit bored of fones! its a good fone! x

It's an OK phone. I got it in January. But it vibrates, even when it's off so you're sitting in school and then your phone starts vibrating and scares the living daylights out of you. It feels a bit plasticy though. I've dropped it down the stairs a few times and is covered in chips and occaisionally the top of the plastic bit at the front and you have to click it back in. It's a bit scary when it says Memory Card full, format anyway, when you know that it isn't full. So you have to turn it off and turn it back on again.

Do not buy this phone my keypads have broke and it keeps on crashing if you leave it and you dont touch it it takes like 5 minutes to come back on and my screen goes blank and i have to press the screen to get it back on

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! I was worried about the keys cracking, but I shouldn't have bothered because they didn't have a chance! It upped and died on me within a month. Yes, it's an outstandingly pretty phone but it is shoddily built and quite frankly sony ericsson should be ashamed of themselves putting this on the market and still selling it despite all the complaints. It's back to the trusty K800i for me, now that IS a reliable phone! If I had the option of giving it no stars, I would.

somebody pointed out earlier that it doesn't end a call when you slide the phone.. you have to go to the settings and change that yourself mate. I adore this phone and i have the flower one. The changing background is great and i loved it on halloween with the bats! :D It is easy to use and very attractive. all around good phone ox

I bought this phone at Christmas in 2007 and for the first few months it was perfect, but then the problems started. The keys started to crack and the phone would turn off every hour or when I was texting or calling. I still like the phone but it just needs better build quality.

great for the first few months but feels like when you slide it it'll break plus doesnt respond wel to knocks and bumps-i.e. complete black screen. Buttons do crack too. Best avoided, go for a non-slidey phone.

Where do I start? The phone is shoddily built. You need tweezers to take the simcard out. The memory card slot is also impossible to open unless you use tweezers. Re cracked keys, mine didn't have the chance to crack as it upped and died within a month of using it. The volume was set to max but no ringing or message alert tone.(And no, I didn't have it set to silent, but to outdoors). The person I was ringing heard their phone ring but when they answered couldn't hear anything from me and I couldn't hear anything from them either. No ringing in my ear while they came to answer - just nothing. To break like this within a month is terrible. All I can say is ignore the good looks and go for something reliable. I've gone back to my SE K800i. Now THAT's a reliable phone. I implore you not to buy the S500i or you will live to regret it!

I've had this phone for about 8 months now, and basically, its a state. When i first brought it, i thought it was beautiful and was really pleased that it came in purple. However, all the buttons have cracked and they look a mess, the space button has given up all together, and the on/off button has fallen off. So if you want a phone that looks gorgeous but lasts 10 minutes, go for this one.

the keys do crack.. and it dosnt really have a very long battery life, i have had fuse and screan problems too with this phone but it has a very good camera and it is also good to listen to music on. all the keys suddenly cracked at the same time but the first few months it was great!

I had this phone for almost three months and it's great!!A lot of users are having problems with the keypad,but you have to buy the newest version that came into the store.Sony knows what's the problem so all new S500 are reinforced with new keypads.After all I love this phone and it's definetly a best buy!!

I got this phone and well its good, not bad.. the battry isnt bad either. Its quite full most of the time. the key pad is wicked and hasnt cracked yet [have this phone since june, its october now] when i dropped my phone [a couple of times] nothing happend the phone stll works. I realy like this phone, and most of my friends are jealous ;) WOOP!

Very beautiful phone, got me the moment I looked at it. No keys are cracked with mine, but I don`t really text and am careful. The themes and screen colors are stunning, I adore the look and the slide. However, there is one interesting problem I`d like to mention with this fav of mine - I bought a special belt case to put it in instead of keeping it in my bag, and every single time I got the mobile ringing and pushed it out of the case it sent a busy tone to the caller! I made several experiments, tried more carefully to take it out, tried the other way round, tried all, but with the same result. Also, when I put it in the case, it flashes the backlight and shows a pic of a key (like the one when you slide it closed). I experimented again with that and have no idea what causes it. Maybe a firmware problem, maybe the magnet of the case, maybe the leather?!?! Any way, the belt case goes, I totally love my phone and will get another softer case for it. Peace!

Got the phone 6 weeks ago and my keys have started to crack. The shop wants me to pay to have phone repaired as it is not covered on their warrenty. looking on these reviews i now no why. Beware when buy the phone. If u do then get the insurance As they keypad is ruddish.

my sister and I have both had this fone for 9 months now and have never had a problem. yeh the keys crack...BIG WOOP...does this really stop ur fone functioning. as for screen and software problems, i've experienced NONE!!! fone is great, love the cool display and i will b sad wen my contract finishes!! i have had this phone for 8 months about and the back has fell of and a silver cover in the back covering the inside of phone has fell off and the button to turn the phone on and off has fell off and now i have lost it and now the phone turned off without me turning it off ....this phone is pretty and nice but weak and not worth the money!

I love this phone personally, though I have one in purple...:D I haven't had the key cracking problems nor any of the other problems other people seem to be experiencing with it, and I text a whole lot.. only thing that annoys me is how laggy it can be. Takes forever and a day to go through my text inbox. Another thing thats irritating is it'll accidently connect me to the internet a lot. but other than that, this phone is awesome.

i totally love this phone! its really girly without being useless! i had a few "nice phones" that were fab to look at but did not stand-up well to everyday use this phone however does even if a couple of the bottons have cracked (iv had the phone since december 07)

A great phone. I'm wondering if I have the same phone as some of the other reviewers?? I've had mine for months, and never had any problems with the key pad or screen. I also think the battery is fine - if I don't use the phone much, it lasts a week, if I use it a lot, it lasts maybe 3 days. Isn't that normal? The sound is great, it's easy to transfer music, I love the 2 mega pixel camera and the phone is stylish. I would recommend it to my friends! In fact, I know 2 other people who bought the same phone, and no problems!

I love this phone. I don't care about the fact that I've had to replace they keypad 3 times because as it's aknown fault with this phone they've done it free. I think the description on this website is perfect - it's for arty creative people...who can put up with silly things (LIKE: cracked keys, no flash etc etc). Actually, the internet connections and stuff are a bit rubbish. Meh, why did I start!

I like it. This phone has good MP3 and great camera no problems at all. It is definatly the best phone I have come across. The battery life is good it's battery life lasts bout 3 to 4 days... I recommend it.

I treated myself to this phone last December and initially was very pleased with it. The navigation is very straightforward and the graphics are of a decent quality. The photo and video quality is OK though a bit grainy and the video DJ program with it is a bit of fun though nothing outstanding. All in all I was happy enough with the phone, but a few months into using it the keys on the left side of the phone cracked down the centre of each key. That wasn't so much of a problem but then the wheel started to crack and it has now completely split and I keep catching my thumb on it. I'm on pay and go and only spend about �15 a month on texts and calls - I'm not a heavy user. I do play a few games on it every now and then and have used the phone to take some pictures but I've had it less than a year and it's become pretty much unuseable. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else at all. I wish I'd read the reviews about the cracking keys before I bought it. It's a shame be cause if the build was better it would be a decent enough phone.

my keys cracked in about 5 weeks or so and i couldnt put up wiv it for too long. it was a brilliant phone until that happened. although i loved the camera and its features and the slide design was soooo cool. the lighting fx weren't needed though, it made it look like a toy phone for kiddies. although everything else was spot on!! sorry but i am only putting 2 stars though.

Its a good phone except all the buttons are snapped now and some of the buttons are actually coming out because they are so weak. Also my sister has the same phone and she has the internet already loaded onto hers and yet mine always says settings error and yet when i go to the settings it cancels me out so it really annoys me!! Hmm, thought people who said the keys cracked easily used it roughly.. But yeah, mine cracked within a month too and i take good care of the phone. I love the phone, but also a plastic, fake look (doesnt look like it on a picture, but real-life it does). I have it for a month now and I cant say im still excited to have the phone. But hey, it works and overall is a nice phone, but nothing really special in my opinion.

Its not the best phone ive had, but how i loved it. the phone lasted about 5 months, and keys crack but do not fault just look bad :( case is very flimsy and easily comes off. i got water in mine 3 times, now it wont turn on. Is worth the money though. if your looking for a good phone with everything needed for under �100.

It's a really good phone but the other day i dropped it and the back bit came off!! That was my fault though so...I have noticed that the keys are becoming a little bit unstable. The slide is very fragile. All in all it is a really good phone.

Incredible problems trying to get the battery cover off! Almost impossible! The only way to open it is to lever up the corner where the lanyard holes are, and then pull the cover outwards. There is No battery release latch as quoted in the instructions - This is a lie! There is no capacity for this cover to simply slide off as in the ilustrations in the accompanying bnhooklet. Don't even try to slide it, it's never going to happen!!!

I've had this phone for just six months and already the keypad is cracked and faded. Also the # key doesn't work as well as it should which causes problems when composing text messages. I have a couple of friends who have the same phone and they have experienced similar problems. Also the camera doesn't have a flash which isn't so good. Overall i don't reckon much to this phone. I had a Sony Ericsson before and I loved it but after this I'll never have another.

the keys have cracked on mine so im going to phone the place where i got it, the hash/space key has has chipped on both sides and pieces have come off. The phone has also frozen and deleted aload of stuff randomly and the it doesnt slide that well. Hopefully get a new phone tomorrow!

i saw this phone and i said sik i want dis i got it and after 5 months a 7 cracked still works and i dropped it once and when i changed song the screen went black and there was loads of crack marks very loud fone tho and it does not come with a memory card!!! it says it does but none of my mates n my family got a memory card WARNING:INSURE THE PHONE!!! I have recently bought a sony ericsson s500i flowers edition phone from the carphone warehouse, I am really impressed with the phone it is easy to use, It is small and compact the keypad on mine is fine and that is with every day use of texting to friends, I like the ever changing wallpapers/screensavers, and the changing light effects,the audio is brilliant overall a brilliant phone it does everything I want it to do.

I really adore this phone. Stylish, elegant, very easy to navigate around and amazing lighting features. Yes, the keys do have a tendancy to crack, but other than the aesthetic downside this really isn't so much of a problem. If the keys still work, what does it matter if they split? Anyway, the battery life on this phone is also really good, and the main features (camera, music player etc,) are all sound, though if you're looking for the top-of-the-range camera or music player I'd advise you to look somewhere else. Overall, a lovely looking phone which fits its purpose well, is easy to use and feels good in the hand. Love it!

The phone looks super and unlike a lot of sony ericsson's phones it has a rubber back so it doesn't want to slip out of your hand every time you pick it up. The sounds and display are the best on any phone I have seen. However - I had to replace the first phone I had. After approx. 5 calls the speaker started to vibrate in the earpiece. When exchanged for another exactly the same thing happened. The key quality was different on both phones as was the slider fit. It shows the quality of these phones is below par and as mentioned in the main review, durability is questionable. In short, attractive and fashionable but not a quality or reliable phone.

i thought that this phone was brill!! Not cheap though. I wouldn't pay that much money again for a phone. I will say though that it's the best phone eva!! I love the purple colour and EVERYTHING about it!! The camera is great, the batteries not bad and over all, I'd give it 9/10 the only reason I didn't give it 10/10 is because when you find a phone better than this one, you can't give 10/10, cause it's exactly the same ratings as this phone and that one was betta!! If you wanna buy this phone, go for it!! You'll love it!! ambz x

The Phone Itself is beautiful, especially with all of the different themes bring together a rather stylish package, Software, music player, camera are all fine, and to be expected for a phone of this class. However like everybody else is saying the build quality is appaling. The sliding action is now loose, the keys are cracked, and the phone frequently restarts itself, usually at the very moment i answer a call! Terrible, am replacing it this weekend.

I still love my phone despite the 3 times I have sent it back to be repaired! First time I sent it off and they replaced the keyboard for me, because it had cracked (It didnt start doing that until 2 months after getting it), but it didnt fix the sticky keys that I had sent off to be fixed. So I sent it back. That was all hunky dory! Then about 2 months ago my camera suddenly decided to make everything a weird green polorized colour. It wouldnt take photos as everytime I hit capture it would close down! But besides that I still love it! It doesn't mind being dropped, mine only has a loose screw and a couple of scratches on it from being dropped every couple of weeks or so (and I have had it for almost a year!) Saying that though. SE admit it has had problems and completely remade the phone with different colours. Can anyone tell me about this?

I've had this phone for maybe 7 months now.. I love the looks, the light effects and the feel of the rubber on the back. I never dropped my phone before and there's no scratches. Battery life 1/2 a day on average mas usage. Camera is descent. User infterface is GREAT! But keypads are soo weak.. and I don't even text that much. My #s 3 and 6 cracked yesterday. And I've noticed my other friend's phone the walkman series- his numbers cracked waay more than mine.

It's not too bad, if you want a simple phone that does simple things and looks good this is for you. I have had it for a day and it is already scratch from getting the back off the phone, the back is stuck onto the phone and only get it off if you really need it off as it does scratch when forcing it off. Already filled up the memory with one song and one picture so buy a memory stick aswell or no point getting the phone. However i am really pleased with the phone!! and hoping the keys don't crack!!!

it's beautiful and the theme are great esp the everchanging theme...the key doesnt cracked.i can use it till 3 days without charging it...even if i make phone calls, messaging and listen to the music...the screen is great..it maybe fragile but it looks elegant...i dun think it's suitable for people who dun have hands of a lady..so far, so good...ive been using SE for 4 years now, SE never disappoint me but nokia always disappointing me..ive been using nokia phones for 3 years...i have never experience any errors in application while using SE phone, and it's not lagging either, and the battery is good...jz an advice here...

i'm now on my 3rd replacement of this model. each time it is because the keys have cracked. i blamed how i used keys, was i pressing too hard, even tho i was trying to ever so gentle, its on its last chance so far i'v ad to return each handset every 8-9 days after got it. 1st date got it 18th may, 27th may i ad to return it and ad to return again today...but carphone warehouse has said if it happens again i can chose a different phone, prob i face is others i like cost more money, and i not rich, i could only just afford this 1. i bn loyal to nokia for 10yrs and only switched cause i wanted a slide phone and didn't like wat nokia ad on offer. so fingers crossed i can at least keep this longer than 9 days, my intentions are to keep it much longer as my nokia 6610i only ad to be replaced 4 years later cause back just wouldn't stay on even after i bought new cover after new cover and the key markings wud wear off after a month, that could only be diciphered in the dark wen the lights came into their own. now to compare a phone goin bust after 4 years to a phone going bust in less than 10 days, wat does that say bout the s500i? like i say its on its last warning, next broken keys and i'm goin a diff phone!!

Had this phone a few months now. Loved it at first.. Got it in Yellow. But the Buttons started to crack, then the space just stopped working. Had it repaired so everything is fine. But buttons have started to crack again, and now the buttons on the left side have completed didn't to stop working.

i have had this phone for 10 months and it has been sent back about 6 times- the keys crack, the phone completely stopped working and the front cover come off. But apart from that it is a brilliant phone and easy to use. since i had it last fixed its been about 3 months and the keys havent broken again so sony ericsson are doing something bout it

I'm soooo frustrated because of this phone! I bought it 4 months ago, hoping all the problems with the keys were fixed by then...It went good the first month or so, but now all the problems are showing up: 2 keys broke in two, my camera won't work because "another application is running" while there are no applications running. The left 'select' key, the upwards key, the 'return' key, the 1 and 7 key regularly stop working so that I can do nothing at all, restarting it doesn't work because I can't type in my pincode. Really regret this purchase!!! This phone really sucks!

Great phone, absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful pictures that change monthly. Very feminine. BUT one major flaw, the keys break repeatedly. The still work, they just snap in half. Very irritating, I've had mine about 8 months & had it repaired 5 times, but it breaks again & again, so it just depends what you like of that really! I dont mind, its so cool in other ways that it makes up for the faults!

Terrible phone mine spends more time in for repair than it does with me its shoddily built an even when your extremley gentle with it the keys crack. If there was a 0 id vote that. If you a good one your lucky i feel like i threw �139.00 down drain when i bought it in september 2007.

I had this phone about 2 months and i have to say it looks soo nice, however i have never had a phone that has such poor battery life, if you want to have to charge it every night, more so if you make a few phone calls then buy it but i certainly wuld not recommend it. The keys are started to crack and it easily scratched. If your wanting appearance by all means go for it, if your wanting practicality, it is useless!!

ive had this phone since christmas and had no major problems so far (touch wood). i have had no problems with the keys cracking but i dont text to often. battery life is average. it would be better if it had a better camera but not to bad. i like the photo dj where u can edit ur photos which is cool. its pick up a couple of scratches from dropping it. the phone looks reli cool in black but is unavaible inn that colour. overall this is one of the best phones ive had and reli like it.

Had this phone since christmas, and at first the buttons were fine. But after a couple of months the buttons started to crack, four of them have cracked now. But i accidently dropped it down the toilet 2 days ago, and its fine after a bit of drying. Was lost without my phone though.

I bought this phone in spite of the reviews on here coz I loved it, but I've just taken it back for a refund as the keys cracked. I'd only had it 3 weeks. The phone itself is lush + I was soo happy with it, brilliant night/day changing on the screen 2, but what's the good in a lush phone if you got no keys to use it!?!

I've had this phone for about a month, it's by far the best i've ever had. The everchanging theme is amazing!! The camera and screen are fantasic! I don't even notice there's no flash, it makes no difference really unless you plan on taking heaps of nightime pics. I like the slide mechanism as its very sturdy but some people are saying it's too hard to open?? I would definately rate its looks 9.5/10, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL PHONE!! I havnt had a problem with the keys and they seem to be quite sturdy so heres hoping SE have fixed that fault. the keys are better suited to those with smaller fingers but is great for texting. The glossy finish shows up fingerprints but its just something you have to live with. Just a note though, the battery on this phone is rubbish. I don't know if its just my phone or if its a fault typical of the model but i have to charge my fone every night (if iv been callign people then its twice a day) =( If its 100% battery in the morning,by noon it will be maybe 75%. and it's a bit of a bummer that the memory card doesn't come with it...

Had this phone for about a month, fair enough the keys have cracked but its hardly visible and hasn't stopped them working, unless you suffer from OCD this shouldnt be a problem. overall I would say a cracking little phone, gets a thumbs up!

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. Sony Ericsson have greatly disappointed me. I will know from now on not to be fooled by pretty images on the Internet. 1. This phone is so fragile it makes a weird sound when you hold it because it's all plastic. You feel it will crack open any minute 2. It's really difficult to open, again because you worry you may break it (and I am gentle!) 3. The card holder is just ridiculous, once you slide a card in you can only get it out with tweezers! 4. As normal (for this stupid phone), the keys split and I'm no heavy texter - BIG DESIGN ERROR! The features are nice but their importance fades away in the light of the aforementioned issues. I should have bought that pretty slick metal Nokia.

WTF?! I bought this phone 24hours ago. I still can't get the back off to insert my SIM!! I've tried all ways.... constantly for half an hour and now am worried if I press any harder I'll crack the screen!!! I'm really disappointed- I loved the idea that it was designed around nature and the lights and the overall aesthetic qualities of this phone are great. Shame I can't actually use the thing!!! My only hope is that I can exchange it for a Samsung or Nokia..... Also worrying that the keys are very poorly held in place. When pressed they feel as though they are held on by a thread! My advice- steer clear!

i bought this phone in sept 07 and have since had 3 replacements from carphone warehouse cos all the keys split in 2 on each! EVERYONE i have met who has had this phone has encountered the exact same problem- including 4 carphone warehouse employees- off the record of course. although functions etc are great i would NEVER recommend this phone to anyone i liked!!!!!!!!

I've got this phone, and I really don't think it's all that bad. I got it on March 1, so just more than a month ago, and so far, I haven't found that the keys have broken or the phone has failed to turn on, or the screens' gone blank. This said, I'd definitely say that it's not the best phone I've ever owned. I think the battery power is a bit short, I mean I use it quite a lot but it still doesn't last as long as the Motorola I previously owned. I haven't dropped it yet, and there's no damage to it other then a bit of scratch on the screen. Some faults I have noticed in the time that I've had it; are that the icons on the main screen sometimes disappear, but re-appear after switching the phone on and off, and the phone sometimes manages to mute itself and my calls despite not being on silent mode or plugged into my headphones. I don't think it's too badly priced, at least not in Australia, and it's definitely something I think is worth having as a phone, at least for now.

I got this phone for christmas, and within a month i had to send it back because the screen just went black and it would not switch on. I had someone try to fix it, as the place it was bought from would not take responsibility for it, but the person said it was a software fault. In the end, the phone was sent back to the place it was bought from to be fixed, but even they couldnt fix it and sent it back with the inside replaced. I am counting down the days until it breaks again!!

i got this fone for my birthday in december, it was fine up until mid-march. i dropped it on the floor and then 3 of the keys had cracks. this fone is stylish and very unique. its just ashame that the keys crack. and another thing if u slide it down 2 quick the back of it will start scracthin. but this phone is of the chain and i still love it. but its not as bad as the shake and go ( w580i ) all my frends have it and they literally only have 3 keys left.

While the phone is beautiful and has great features, it isnt a phone built to last. my keys too have cracked, and now the screen seems to be gone. i was smitten with it up until now, that it doesnt work. it costs more than it is worth in my opinion. it is a great phone, but if u get it, make sure u have a warantee so you dont get screwed as i did.

First appearance is that the phone looks good, same good functions as most sony erricsons. Heard a few dodgey reviews but got it anyway thinking ppl were just being careless. This phone really is rubbish. 3 keys have cracked within the first fortnight. Then the down key and number 9 reguarly decide not to work, and on occassion the whole phone decides not to work. it is incredibly unreliable. appart from looking sexy it was a terrible and regrettible purchase. this model is reallly flimsy. going to have to buy a new phone. AVOID.

I love this phone! BUT I have sent it back twice now to have the keys fixed as they cracked less than a month after I got it (and two days ago a key cracked again, 3rd time lucky!?). Also, the battery life does seem to be quite short compared to other phones I've owned, although it is using the battery to do a lot of cool things so I can see why this is. I really do like this phone, its just a shame about the keys as it spoils the look.

I just bought this phone, it's really beautiful with an amazing camera and amazing sound quality. There isn't much memory at all, but I'm going to buy a memory card so that's fine. Also, the program on my computer doesn't work, but I'm gettinga replacment CD for it. Nobody else has reported this problem so it could just be my computer. My keys haven't cracked. 3 of my friends have this phone and 2 of their keys have cracked. However, they both use their nails to text and the people who's keypads haven't broken use their fingers. I use my fingers so I'm ok. Yeha, so buy this phone, or the W580i they're both really good. :)

this phone is very easy to break and the worst problem is then keys that crack within a few days. it is a stunning phone and very easy to use, the music playere and camera are very good. i would not recommend that you buy this phone as it is easily broken and is quite expensive to fix!

This phone in my opinion is rubbish, didnt last 2 months keys cracked etc. Sony Ericsson have the worst customer service of any global company, they just dont care, I suppose their attitude is that they are so big they can ignore your average customer. Lets face it what can one person do. By the way it cost me �10 of phone calls to them to get no answers at all as to what was wrong with my phone. They are useless at their head office customer care service in the UK.

The S500i is the best looking phone I've ever had and it pained me to send all three (yes 3!!) back. On each one the light on the keypad failed and then various functions just wouldn't work. I really hoped that Sony would sort the problems out and bring out an updated version but looking exactly the same. Does anyone know if they have because if they haven't, don't buy it even if you really really want it 'cause you'll be dissapointed.

At first the phone was a dream, then 4 keys cracked and the back of the phone wont go back on. Alot like its cousin the w850i the s500i's keys break without much pressure. I payed over �200 for the phone and acessories in total and i am really annoyed at its poor quality. Its left me thinking, do i want another sony ericsson. my first phone was great, now i have other opinions.

I really love this phone, it looks great! The loudspeaker is LOUD which is good and the camera is ok if your just using it for quick snaps. I love the lights on the sides and the vibrating menu screen when you scroll around it! I also really like the theme 'everchanging' it changes from day to night and through the seasons and on special days like New Years or Valentines Day it shows a special imagery on the wallpaper (fireworks on new years and a red theme for Valentines day). The only problem i have is the bloody keys! They all work of course but 6 of mine have cracked and 2 more are on there way. It seems once the cracking has begun the rest start to crack too. Yesterday there was only 4 cracked and by tonight 2 others have cracked. I hope when I send it off for repair/renewal they have fixed this problem because it is the only annoying thing about it really. I just got it a month ago for Xmas and some people i meet want to have a look at it and it pains me when they flip it and notice the cracked keys after only 1 month. Sony Ericsson have perhaps gotten a little cheap on production since the boom in their popularity. They probably think anything they make will sell.. but i think if people read these reviews before they buy this phone or any of the new Sony Ericsson phones they might be in for a surprise. Overall this phone is a 4/5, because apart from the aesthetics of the keys it is a great, fun, stylish phone.

Although I agree with all the beautiful features of this phone, something every important that has failed to be mentioned was the PROBLEMS that this phone carries. There is an EXTREMELY fragile keypad that many users have cited all over the web (keypads crack within the month) and also there are malfunctioning keys/scroll buttons as well, despite me being extremely cautious with the phone. It has not been dropped and suffered NO water damages WHATSOEVER. But, it still ended up with half the keypad busted. This is a very faulty phone, and not worth the money or the pretty looks/features.

The only reason I'm giving this phone a 3 star is because it is sony ericsson. I only use this brand. I couldnt wait to get my hands on the s500i. I got it when it first became available so there werent any customer reviews. Indeed it has beautiful artwork; the phone itself is terrible. All the keys have cracked. The cover for the M2 wont stay in place. All in all, dont buy this phone. Major design problems and such a disappointment.

This mobile phone is a good and stylish phone for girls but it is not a good choice to buy if you are male. If you are male and looking for a stylish phone with the cool light effects then i would advise you to get the Sony Ericsson's w580i, it's just like the s500i but a Walkman and masculine version. The problem about this phone is the keypad, i have had this phone for a month now and 3 of my keys are cracked (#2, #6, #8) due to texting. Another bad thing about the phone is that it does not have a very good camera. only 2 mega pixel and you cannot flash or zoom in on taking a picture but can zoom on videos. A good thing abut the phone is that its a very good modeling phone for girls who are stylish.

I think this phone is pretty average and would have been gutted if i paid the full price for it. the keypad has been fine but the battery life is terrible which completly ruins the phone. it also feels really delicate and would definatly break if dropped unlike other more sturdy phones. looks good tho.

Got the S500i for xmas and was dead excited. I read up that Sony have re-inforced the keys and they havent. Had it for 3 days and one of my keys cracked!!! People have said that they can deal with it but if you have the phone and are dead excited about it you cant. After 3 days your still gettin 2 know the phone. I was really dissapointed and took it back. Ive now got the Samsung U600 and it is soooo much better. My advice 2 any one who wants the S500i - dont get it. Its not worth it!!! My keypad is flat and i also bought it after week 28 but the Keys still crack. You can still use the key but its annoying looking at a brand new phone that is broken!!!

i LOVE this phone,- its amazing, i got it for christmas and haven't had a problem with it even though i've only had it about 5 days. the music player is brilliant and it is easy to use, and easy to put songs on to your phone and pictures from your phone onto the computer. its great to text, stores loads of messages. the slide is brilliant, internet is easy to use. colour (black and green) is amazing, you can show off with this phone! 100% get this phone, its amazing. i love it. will comment in a few weeks to let you know of any cracking keys (not happened yet!)

i think SE should of put more of an effort into this fone clearly people are attracted to the amazing themes and all it amazing colours the fone comes in but i reckon if they made the keys alot better and less flimsy and other problems such as the small memory it would have been a big big hit and hope they make a better version like with previous problem fones

I love this phone so much it rocks u have to buy it but the only thing is all the keys crack in a few days no matter how many weeks it came out but part from that it a really nice gd phone and the mp3 is gd but then so is all well most mp3s on over phones
