I've had my phone on contract now with Orange for about 13 months and have had to replace it - first the navigation keys went then the left hand back button stopped working. As I pay insurance I claimed for a replacement - they waived the "admin" charge as had messed me about. New phone came (they only replace top half) and I put battery in and transferred all my contacts. Half hour later "pop". New phone had caused battery to explode. Nice. Ordered new replacement and again they waived the "admin" charge as it was dangerous. Got new phone & two days later the navigation keys (up and left) have stopped working again! I think I'll stick with Nokia in future as I've never had any problems with any Nokia's I've had. Ever. I think I'll cancel my phone insurance and just buy a sim free phone until I upgrade. Must be a defect to have the same problem on different phones! Can't use my phone at all now. Frustrating to say the least!

Best advice I can give is never buy a Sony especially their unreliable receiver STR-DA5400ES which trips out and In could not reset it. Sony have no answer. worst PR in the business I hate Sony.

I have had this phone back from repair 3 times, regarding the quality of the camera, which is like a 1 Megapixel quality, and lots of missing pixels. The last time it was repaired directly from Sony, who said they replaced the camera module. In that case they have a whole load of duff camera chips, which they have not quality tested. Beware of the camera quality.

The joystick spoil easily, the keypad were small and hard to message. K810i is also slow reaction, quite lag. Conclusion about it, K810i is good to be a camera phone, K810i = K = Kamera...

I've had this phone for 18 months on my contract now and it's one of the best phones I've ever had. I've had no problems with it whatsoever (apart from a memory card fault; but that was actually the memory card not the phone). The camera is relatively good, but it's obviously a bit old now as SE have just brought out an 8.1MP camera phone. The speakers are pretty loud, and it's easy to store music and get music from the computer via memory card or bluetooth. 5 stars.

Well, i've had this marvellous mobile since last christmas! it's been brilliant! i can't doubt it in any way! First of all, it went through a washine machine for half an hour before i realised, and when it dried off, it worked a treat! The camera is brilliant- i love the auto-focus. Maybe one problem is the joystick sticks a little- probably because it went through the washine machine! I have seen so many of my friends mobiles break and freeze and this phone hasnt done it once! i would strongly recommend this phone to anyone, and dont be put off my the camera taking a second to take the photo- this is because of the flash and auto-focus; without it the photos wouldnt be such a good quality. (If you want the photos to be taken you change the setting to a 'racing' display picture) SUPERB MOBILE! BUY, BUY, BUYY! plus: this phone can be bought for about £60 on ebay! ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!

Don't bother buying if you want to use it as an mp3 player, I've gone through 4 pairs of headphones in around 5 months due to the terribly designed Sony Ericsson headphone socket (Either that or I've got some weird misshapen leg) Oh and the flash has died. I have the Sony Ericsson K810i and overall i suppose its okay but me myself would rather a Nokia, the main fault i've had with this phone is that many of the buttons brake easily, and after having it a while it has seemed to have a mind of its own and control itself, many of times i've been texting or intending to call somebody and its backed up to the home screen, which gets very annoying, it also has begun to ring people without me in command which is extremely agitating, for 8 months this phone was near enough perfect but from there its gone majorly downhill, so therefore i would recommend this phone for somebody who is looking for something which will tie him over for under a year maybe, but if your looking for something like an 18 month contract stay clear of this handset, oh and another point the camera on this handset is fine ...... for a matter of months which then decides to take its time moving from one destination to another, and sometimes takes MINUTES to take a photo! and the volume that this mobile plays music at is utter rubbish.

This is a brilliant improvement, the numbers aren't printed on the buttons so don't wear and for someone with large hands i.e. any bloke, these buttons are easier to use for texting. Great improvement on the K800i, both phone however are awesome, although now a little old, still better than some of the newer phones, i upgraded from k800i to k810i and its been going strong for almost 2 year now! ***** BRILLIANT PHONE, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED *****

Often connects to the internet as locking technology is useless-I have the updated version but my husband has older one and he also has same problem (sort it out Sony!)Has some great camera features on it bt the constant freezing up makes this phone a real pain and frustration to use. Im extremly happy with how the phone looks and feels. It feels really well made and the camera is of high quality. I'm very critcal of things I buy and i'm very pleased with my purchase and grateful that a couple of reviews on here were chatting rubbish. People thinking of buying this phone should'nt think twice its a really good 2007 mobile phone. This is outstanding for the price. Sure you can get a better mobile but you will probily have to pay twice as much on a 08 modelthat really won't be much better than is. If you want a phone with a quality camera proffesional feel, cool looks and finish, texts well, phone calls in and out are fine then buy this phone. To buy a better mobile you will be looking at getting the Iphone or other phones in that price bracket.

The mobile internet is a bit slow but still it was good for the time it came out. Only a couple of complaints about it and that is that the camera button on the side has worn out after extensive use (this went around the 13 month stage) and the thumb knob collects dust and becomes hard to use after 6 months or so. The final complaint i have against this phone is that my # key stops and starts working whenever it feels like it now but i havn't heard of this problem from anybody else so i would suggest you forget that one. Overall i have loved this phone and still do, i think that it is bloody brilliant and the ONLY reasons i am looking to change it is because i am bored of using it and i would like a phone with a higher MP camera. The phone in general has been ok. More than happy with camera quality and overall usability etc. But my major gripe with this handset is the lack of build quality. In the last 12 months i have gone through 2 of these handsets and both with similar problems. First off was a crackling/distortion occuring in the earpiece during a call which has now got so bad that i cannot understand the person on the other end...solution - use yer hands free i suppose, but why should I? This is, first and foremost a phone right? That should mean that it's basic phone functions (ie speaking and listening) should be spot on, well not in this case. The camera element still works great but i'd really like to have a phone which still works as a phone please - crazy concept i know! The second fault which has only recently occured is that the vibrate function when recieving calls etc has given up the will to live. To sum up....nice looking and functioning (initially) camera phone. Make sure you wrap it in cotton wool if you want it to last your contract period as it will go wrong! Too many of these reviews are a 'first impression' and to be fair, i would have given it 4/5 stars a year ago, after 1 weeks worth of use, but after a year, i'm afraid I feel slighty let down by Sony Ericsson and will have to consider a brand with better build quality when i renew my contract.

I have used this phone for seven months now and I completely love this phone. It's durable, easy to use and not too flashy. Only problem is that the alarm is somewhat useless as it "gives up" after calling for a minute or so. But the only telephone I ever had that didn't do that was an old Nokia 3210. The phone has been through a lot, and still works great. The buttons were unusual, but you get used to it rather fast. The cam works swell for my use, and so does the mp3 player(though I would like a better equalizer). You wouldn't like the movie feature if you plan to screen movies but it works quite well being a phone and not a video camera. 3G works well, though I don't use it much. Video calls are few and far between, so I don't have much to say about them. The joystic actually still works, and though joysticks suck by default, it works quite well also. All in all, it's the best phone I have ever had.

What a great phone!. Had it nearly a week now, got used to the buttons (which were reasonably easy to use in the first place anyway). Had the W810i before which was one of the most reliable phones Ive ever had. This has pretty much the same music player (minus the Mega Bass feature) and is just as easy to use as the Walkman music players. There is no point in Walkman phones really, they just have a downgraded camera and the same features as the k-series phones. TrackId is superb too, a very strange feature when you first use it, I didnt believe it would ever work, but it has only had a hick-up on 1 song, which was a weird remix anyway. The FaceWarp feature is funny too, good laugh to stretch and pull people's faces about, without having to do anything, the software does it all for you. Battery life isnt superb, lasts 2-3 days of normal use and playing some music, so not bad I surpose, roughly the same as my old W810i. Camera is the best Ive ever had on a phone. It's just like a normal digital camera, flash is as strong as a normal camera, not like the 'photo light' on the W810i. Also has red-eye removal feature which is cool, havent properly tested that out yet but sure it will be just as good as the rest of the phone. My friend has the upgraded K850i, and oh dear is it awful. Try pressing one button and you end up pressing the touch pad bit and a number all at the same time. And it looks horrible too. If your looking at that, save yourself some money and get this. Only thing I really miss off of the W810i is the little light that was really handy if you find yourself in a dark situation. In conclusion, it's a chunky phone (which I like) that feels very durable and sturdy. It is packed with features and gives excellent sound and picture quality. Don't bother with Walkmans! They aren't as good and are constantly breaking (the newer ones I mean). If you are considering buying it, do it! Don't listen to these reviews that say how awful the phone is, it's getting cheaper now and, for the price, I don't think anything can compete.

Is loosing 20% battery life per 24h, without Bluetooth / Infrared activated. - navigation keys too small and difficult to operate. I loose operation speed because of these keys. - it is unable to ring also in handsfree (headset). In noisly environment you will not hear the phone ringing in the pocket and the earpiece kept in the ear is useless (is not ringing). - Sound quality in default headset. Comparing with Motorola Mpx 220 is bad. What I like: - The camera. For a phone camera ia amazing. Plus the xenon flash. The pictures are too good for a mobile camera. Is able to do good macro pics. - The software to process the pictures. It have plenty of options. - FM radio embeded. Usefull to hear the morning news on the way to office. - The mic. It send clear and loud voice to your partner. The downside is that in noisy env. the noise is heared loud too. Also the wind noise. - The look. Looks great an professional. The back side is fine covered with rubber giving a much better sensation than plain plastic and also a firm catch.

If you are seeking a phone which has everything and at the same time a lot cheaper than the current nokia's floating the market then this is the best bet for you. i picked this one up during the holiday season, shelled out couple of bucks extra for the pouch, a blue tooth headset - hbh-pv702, and a 512 mb card. The bluetooth headset - HBH- PV 702 is a big let down, it is very uncomfy. This is the best phone in the market...with nearly half the price of a Viewty-LG, or N95. the sound quality is 5/5,camera is 5/5, looks and usebality is 5/5. I got this phone as a birthday present in August and since then it has been brillinat :) I don't know how many times it has fallen out of my pocket, been dropped on the floor, kicked down the street or dropped in the bath and it has always stayed in tip top condition. Fair enough, it has a few scratches but it has never smashed or stopped working. The outside of it is very tough but it's not plastic. I can't quite put my finger on it but the closest thing I can describe it as is rubber. It feels soft and is great as if you have sweaty hands your phone doesn't go all greasy. The camera on this phone is amazing. I can never been bothered to carry a highly expensive, bulky digital camera around with me so this phone is brilliant. Photos are so clear and with many options such as frames, effects (including some very original ones such as cartoon!) and red eye removal. The videos are also very good. They are not as good as the photos but are still of brilliant quality and you can zoom right in. I took it on holiday with me to Lanzarote & filmed loads of stuff & took loads of pics & I have never ran out of memory. Texting on the phone is hard to get used to with the funny keys but when you get the hang of it its no problem. I love texting now as when using prediction mode there is a little mini scroll down screen which I find extremely useful. There are also little cute emoticons in place of :) :( :S :@ and some others. And alot of animated cartoons to add to your texts. Another thing great about this phone is how you can really personalize it. There are so many themes on it & you can always go to the sony ericsson site on your phone and download others for free.

This phone is attrocious, granted it looks quite cool but it has soooo many faults and seems to develop new ones weekly. i'm going to list hte faults in the order they occured. plese bear in mind that im not some idiot who throws his phone at walls or anything, this is just from normal usage over the 6 months or so i've been using it. firstly if you have what it deems to be too many texts (around 30) in your inbox/sent items, the whole phones functionality is slowed right up until u delete them. pushing on the keypad causes the body to squeak. the 6 key needs to be hit a random, indeterminate ammount of times before it works (terrible for texting quickly). calls often fail or sound drops off. and just today its decided that, even with full reception you need to try sending text messages at least 6 or 7 times before it stops telling u that its failed to send. if you want a piece of technology that works and wont give you a headache, avoid this piece of rubbish like t he plague.

This k series comes with Symbian, Java and Flash platform, alternatively it never hangs or slows down. a question for all those who are looking for everything in your preferred Device, please buy a small laptop like XPS or just think once how many times do you really use features like word, adobe acrobat, etc, in your mobile. A little thought like this will help you to buy the MOST WANTED PHONE and not THE MOST FEATURE RICH and HARRASSMENT PHONE

I've been living with the K810i for about 6 months now, and I am very impressed to say the least. My first one died the week i got it, wouldnt turn on?? But went to o2 shop and they didnt even ask any questions and gave me a new one. It is a little bigger than my W810i but not by much, its hardly noticable. The screen is much clearer compared to other SE phones, and the software is very easy to navigate, simlar to samsung i would say. Only problems are the buttons really are a little fiddly but once you get used to them it is no problem, and the text messaging is a bit slow, im not really fast at typing but it cant keep up, bit annoying. Good looking phone, although the shiny front shows scratches and grease up reeeally easily. Good battery life, great camera, all in all highly recommended!

I eagerly waited for this phone to come out way back last year and was so pleased with it when I finally got it. Everything about it is great. However, after having it only 6 months, the shortcut key decided to fall off, it appears it was stuck in with some sort of glue, not like the number keys. I was not very happy to say the least as my phone insurance carries an excess of 25 quid. Then a couple of weeks ago the internet key did the same, well at least the phone looks the same on both sides!! Love my phone just disappointed about the shabby keys!

I don't see the point in the two buttons at the top of the phone though, however, it is a moot point. The battery I have yet to test, as I have been using the radio, which drains it very quickly. I have this phone for over of 2 months now. Pros: - good looking phone (subjective) - easy menu like every SE phone - good quality fotos - very powerfull xenon flash - good battery life etc. Cons: - The same as the K 800 and yet more expensive! The main difference is that the camera lens cover slides open a bit easier on the K800. - Small keypad buttons (not much of a problem - you just have to get used to them), - Cannot avoid finger prints on the keypad surface and have to clean it up frequently, - not the expected quality video , - Cannot use the xenon flash neither as a torch nor for night video shooting, - Cannot choose different ringtone for each phone profile. Conclusion: Can't have it all. Very good and easy to use phone.

I read the reviews on this webpage, and nearly all of them are brilliant. The few that say the mobile is terrible; I belive the reasons are not worthwhile. Firstly, I don't mind charging my mobile every night; and the weight is not at all heavy. As for the video quality - don't expect it to be better than optical zoom camera's - as mobile's are not designed to be brilliant. Hate it. Really, really hate it. I've had this phone in for repairs three times in less than a year. It freezes, it turns on by itself, it turns off and won't turn on again. All these problems seem inherent in the phone. A couple of geeks I know have both thought it could be a software problem and suggested I check SE's site for updates. But how can you update a phone that is either frozen on white screen or dead, dead, dead? It has everything... too bad they can't be used because this phone is frozen or dead so often. A taxi driver saw me make a call on this phone when it was working. He remarked that his cousin has one and has had nothing but problems with it. As for the guy earlier who said he was accused of "squeezing" his phone... sorry, but it's SE who's putting the squeeze on us. You might be lucky and get a phone that works without problems. Just be warned and make certain what sort of guarantee you have and how long your phone will be in for repairs BEFORE you buy it. Sorry, Sony Ericsson, I hate you. From the bottom of my megapixel heart, I hate you.

As a camera.. the picture quality is exellent, as a device for transfering info and pictures from your PC it is also exellent (including using it to get my laptop online). As a music player it is a way too quiet, this really is not a good advert for the company that invented the walkman. The buttons are exellent also to use but if you are used to nokia texting it is all the wrong way around for me and takes some getting used to. Oh yes... I nearly forgot.... as a PHONE (which is what I actually wanted) It is totaly rubbish. In fact as a phone it is the worst I have ever owned, on full volume it is hard to hear ringing in your pocket, the text tone is even worse ( I end up retriving half of my texts when I either go to make a call or am setting the alarm at bed time) Even on hands free on the supplied ear piece it is way too fiddly as it has two ear pieces and that is a recipe for desaster when trying to put the device in ya ear while driving. If you dont put both in it is very hard to hear. If you want hand held entertainment it is ok but if you want a phone, buy a nokia and go to a camera shop and buy a 3.2 megapixel camera for less than £80. Overall it looks good, its a great camera, its a very poor phone. 2 stars. I was offerd a nokia 6300 on my upgrade and really regret it now.

Guys seriously you need to research some more into these things. Comparing the quality of this 3.2mp camera on a PHONE as opposed to something twice the size which is actually MADE for taking pictures is just stupid. The lens of any proper camera will be of a far higher quality than phone camera always, PLUS megapixel, in case you didnt know relates purely to how big you can blow up a picture (i.e. how many pixels per square) so it shouldnt affect how good it looks on a phone screen - a 5mp camera will look worse than a 2mp camera with a good lens. Also, sony created this phone as an upgrade due to complaints regarding the small, close together buttons (hence the new ones) and the placement of these buttons (right down the bottom), so those complaining and whingeing about how sony should not have bothered bringing it out, its just for commercial reasons, appealing to the majority etc etc - that said, my advice is DONT bother upgrading if you have a k800... its the s ame phone, just with better buttons - im sure sony did not intend previous k800 users to upgrade to this. On that note, i have a k800 and its really a great phone, smooth and simple, no stupid nokia interface (try finding a picture youve taken recently) or the motorola bugs, so if this phone it exactly the same as the k800, and all you can complain about is the buttons, im telling you - BUY IT. It truly is a quality phone.

It's a good phone overall but cannot say outstanding. As it has really poor battery back up. It doesn't even last one full day..!!! And more over it doesn't have some basic things like the total count of messages in SMS inbox or sent item, the call durations of the different calls made etc. May be those are very important features but sometimes those are useful. The camera it really excellent. It has almost all the features of a digicam. And software speed compared to Nokia N-Series phones is really very good. The look is awesome but the main drawback is its a finger print magnet and it looks very bad with all the print on display and key pad....!!!! Another thing I like is it doesn't need any software to connect to PC by USB, unlike Nokia N-Series phones. One huge draw back it the loud speaker while calling. The volume is really very low. You have to hold it near your ears even if the loud speaker is on. Then why the hell ots called "LOUD SPEAKER"???? Even the sound quality for MP3s is only good through earphones. The speaker quality is BAD.

However the first one i had the shortcut key fell off. I managed to get a replacement, even though it was just over a month old. However the shortcut button came unclipped while I was on holiday. Fortunately I managed to poke the rubber back in using a friends tooth pick. Battery life is sometimes good and sometimes bad, the auto key lock / sleep doesn't sometimes kick in if I don't exit everything. Which is probably why it has problems sometimes. When my contract comes up I'll have to make a decision on whether to upgrade or keep it, although I'm not sure it'll last.

This is my first SE Phone, I am a Nokia User eversince from Nokia 3210 upto the Nokia 6680 and Nokia 6080 and I can't find any faults in this phone as often told by Nokia Fanatics blah, blah, blah. For me SE released the phone as a lure to get those people who don't own a CYBERSHOT PHONE yet and yes it's just like its predecessor the K800i so I will not really recommend owners of K800i to upgrade to this since there is not much difference (btw my brother owns a K800i so I know), the only difference is of course it comes in a new nutshell though the same style as K800i (come on guys as if Nokia don't use the same platform for their newer models, actually I think they pioneered in recycling the looks of their previous phone models, furthermore look at the RZRs of Motorola don't they look the same? So stop complaining and just be satisfied on what they have to offer) and they just ad ded some light effects when in camera mode for the key functions of numbers (1, 4, 7, and *), anyway I will definitely recommend for those who are not yet CYBERSHOT Phone owners to get this unit, I tell you will not regret it but if you still have some extra money to shell out I think you have to go for the K850i if you really want a CYBERSHOT Phone. About the constant complains about the Joystick, come on its easy to use just toggle it lightly hehehe, and they say it is a magnet for dirt and dust? Well everything gets dirty in a matter of time its just the way you maintain your gadgets even the Direction Pad of other phones gets dirty specially in the corners of which, so again stop complaining. Some people are just hard to please I think.

Overall very disappointing and I am just assuming that most of the positive reviews don't use it that much. Very disappointing that you don't get any games on it from Orange too. Good looking, fantastic camera for a mobile phone, loaded in features. Downside: - Writing a message can be a pain - when you try to be quick and you press the button tree times to get for example letter 'L' the phone is choosing second letter, 'K' in that case. That means going back every second word - drives me crazy!! - Joystick to small, you have to be really gentle with it. Not recommended, get something with decent size keyboard. I had Samsung D600 before - navigation was much easier.

Hi, I've had this phone 6 days now and I like it. I'm only giving it 4 stars though, there are a couple of niggles. I had hoped it would be slimmer than it is, it is slimmer than the K800i but not by much. Also there are no games on it, I know I can download them but it's a hassle and I like the golf game on the K800, what am I supposed to do when I've nobody to text?? But my biggest gripe are the buttons, yes the little metal dots look nice but they are really fiddly and awkward to use, they are not an improvement on the K800i and I think they are worse. Got the phone on a 12 month contract and although I like it I get the feeling I'll be ready for a change when the 12 months is up. Cheers.

I'd reverted back to the K700i after using a brick of a smartphone (SPV M5000) and have been looking for an upgrade for a while. Tried a few of the new phones from other top names... Nokia, Samsung and LG but settled on this one as it's by far the easiest to use. Yes the joystick could be fiddly for people with larger fingers than me but there are arrows keys. The camera quality is the best I've seen so far and the zoom is incredible. The other thing that I really like is the speakerphone, very handy if you don't have a hands free kit. Give this phone a 5 star rating as its simply brilliant.

Having had an array of phones over the years both the old SE, Nokia and currently traded in a dismal D900 FOR THE K810i, there is definately no comparison. If you want sharp crisp professional photos buy a digi camera, otherwise picture quality is superb and wouldnt expect anything less from the Sony crowd. Buttons are easy, manageable, functionality is great, all the right gadgets (not like some models who have a USS Enterprise equivalent) for what there is out there, this model cannot be touched and stands in a class of its own.Chic, classy, smart and a damn good phone. In my opinion you would have to go a long way in todays current market to beat it. Top Marks Sony Ericsson !!!

Its a great phone and nothing much can be said against that. I had the U600i and all i could say to the battery life was "Rediculous". The phone and texts work well but the 3.2 mp camera is only average (picture compression is too high for best quality pictures and the lense doesn't zoom), video peformance is poor, but we must remember that it is basically a mobile phone and not a dedicated still or video camera. I think that the joy stick is oversensitive, the keys are fine. General build quality seems good. Styling is a matter of taste, but I like it. I worry about scratching the screen. The instruction manual is not the best around. If the phone comes for "free" with a half price tarrif and "free" broadband (Orange) I think that it's a good buy as the total cost is less than most broadband packages. However if all you want is phone and texts, there are many much simpler and cheaper phones about. If you want a top quality digital camera, you probably won't be reading this. It has lots of features which I will never use, but with the above reservations, I think that the phone was a good buy. Beware half price packages and read the small print.

I know friends with them and who are constantly plagued with crashes, software glitches, poor quality reception, etc. Nokias reliability has gone swanny. Anyway back to the K810i. This is replacing my phone, MP3 player and camera. yes what a gadget. The pic quality is that good u can print up to 5x7 which is well above standard prints and my current cam is quite old and 3mp. But i have bought a 2GB memory card for circa £20. Will do me for loads of pics and music. Menu is diff from Nokia but easy to use and adapt to. I haven't found any probs with buttons that some people mention. Its just a different feel. But hey change is good. Do buy some sort of screen protector or cover as that screen is just yelling out to be scratched. Put I've always bought one anyway so no biggie to me. Anyone in any doubt buy this phone. You won't be dissappointed with any feature or usability. And battery life - up to a week so far with moderate use. Loads better than current Nokias, Samsung or Motorola.
