Is now 2011, 4 years after release- had two of these, broke the first via my own stupidity- but all is well, as I have found them for �40 a throw! Having previously had a couple of T610s (legendary), a K300 (reasonable), W800 (atrocious software), W810 (near perfect but damned well needed to be for �200, survived a 30 ft drop onto a car) and W880 (a bit rubbish, ended up slightly bent), this device is second only the W810. I like the W880 style keys, though three of the top set (d-pad right, "more/menu" and the right shortcut key) have stopped and started working twice of their own accord, which is mildly annoying.

had the fone for 2 and a half years know very nice fone dropped it a few times and now it freezers, gets white screens and then turns of also there r weird colours in standby mode and when u push menu. Otherwsie its a nice fone just try not to drop it and it has 75mb internal mem not 64.

Got this phone nearly 3 years ago now and it's still going..! Love that the keys are small enough to use whilst wearing gloves, and that it's been dropped about a hundred times and still works fine!

why does it not come with a usb cable that you can connect to your phone so that you can things like photos and music! its just really stupid, becouse it does not come with a cable this means that i have to spend even mre money to buy a usb cable. IT SHOULD JUST COME IN THE BOX WITH THE PHONE!

I took some time to find the phone that was best for me and a friend suggested the K550i. It is just what I wanted and few people seem to have it in Plum, so it is easy to identify.

best sony erricson ive had. much better than the upgrade c510i which i have now and is appaling. the camera features are much better and flash works much more effectively without blurring. Would highly recommend this phone, wish i hadnt upgraded! 2 years and no faults or any kind, just a bag full of water which finally managed to kill this baby

I brought this phone in March 2008 and its a great phone only problem are the keys have started sticking when I text. This has only started happening within the last 6mths though, so a real value for money phone.

I totally disagree with many of the reviews. The phone is REALLY, really good, I bought it over a year ago, and I still use it, I have dropped it numerous times and the screen did not break and nothing messed up. They said; "If only Sony Ericsson had put in a decent keypad!" The keypad is FINE, and work's wonderfully.

Gah! I was in love with this phone at first. But after a while, it wouldnt charge when I plugged in the charger. Got it mended, but now its dodgy again :/ And the 2,8 and 0 keys are now stuck and do not respond. That may be because it has been drenched in Coca Cola numerous amounts of times, but meh. Callers say that the microphone is v. good and the camera is excellent. Music quality is satisfactory. Overall an OK phone, but it not perfect. x

I've had this phone for over a year now, and just until a few days ago, it was perfect. but then sumthing jus happned 2 it, n without me even touchin it, it jus moved upwards all the time, and sumtimes it didnt even respond! its quite good, but i think the problem was that i took it into the bathroom with me, and something just went wrong. oops..:|

I've had it for less than a year and it's an OK phone. Not great, just OK. Good features, nice design, decent battery life (3 days on average use), good reception. On the downside, the display legibility is crappy (it's almost impossible to read unless indoors or at night time!), very disappointing camera performance (believe it or not, the W880i that has no autofocus nor LED flash takes better pictures!), not loud enough (the vibration not being strong enough make it easy to miss calls), the keypad is really dysfunctional and the position of the pop-port on the side makes it impossible to keep it in your pocket and listen to music simultaneously. What's more, the pop-port gets easily scratched and after a good 6-9 months of tear and wear, the the headset gets disconnected at the slightest movement. I can live without listening to its average MP3 quality, but not being able to actually charge it (thank you Sony Ericsson for using the same jack for both the headset a nd the charger!) is a real deal breaker. Finally, I'm not a big fan of the OS, but that's just me. So, if you get it for a good price (or as a gift), keep it. If you have to pay a fortune, look elsewhere.

Am using my mobile for last 1 and half years, the only problem which i found in this is "phone automatically switched OFF and switched ON". Other than this i love my mobile. No any complaints during these nearly 2 years. Go and buy one - absolutely Good

Ok, i've had this phone for about a year and a half now and so far i've had no troubles! I've dropped it sooooooo many times and its never broke, dented, majorly scratched or chipped. it only recently decided that the screen wanted to go white but with one press of a button it cme back! not sure what that was about!! the camera is fantastic but is pretty good, speaker is loud. my keys havent stuck or nayhing like that so im not sure why others are! overall good phone, not in love iwth it but ive had it for a year and a half now so its kinda getting boring now, but definetly a good buy!

I had this phone for two years. It was my first ever phone that wasn't handed down to me. Have been very pleased with it. Its extremely durable and very good battery life. It has been in the toilet twice and STILL works! However, the keys are ridiculously difficult to use. It can take ages to text because of that. Also, I find it is quite quiet compared to other phones I have heard. Still have loved it though.

For the first 4 months I thought the phone was great! But the fault after fault occurred. I have been to the Orange shop countless times. To date I now have collected over 15 customer papers each for a a different occasion. Ranging from battery problems to ledc screen problems. Recently Orange gave me a brand new K550i, and yet only 12 days later the headset symbol on the phone came up; even though I hadn't yet used my headphones on the 'new' phone. Now one month later I am still waiting for Sony Ericsson to ring me and apologize, and Orange to ring me and tell me they have my wonderful mobile ready for me to collect. Because of my K550i i have had to buy another mobile (W350i) to compensate for the loss of my mobile. The Sony Ericsson K550i is a heavy phone which is only good for people who have no life, and wish to spend their better used time complaining and getting frustrated. Peter Igidbashian - 16 years old

i got this phone and within 14 to 16 months id say... the select button came off. so im now debaiting wether to buy a new phone (a different phone though)or just get a new phone coverish thingy! ps the is NO WAY that that select button is goin back on cus 1. i lost it! 2. it wont stick! but in fairness it is an ok phone for the price but i wouldnt buy another in a hurry...

It is really a very good phone in its range. I bought this phone after a thorough research on the internet. I found it best in its class and price range. Good Camera, Bletooth, GPRS and EDGE, java application, Infra red as well. I would highly recommend this phone over any of nokia phone in the same price range. You will find it having more features, verstality and at less price. I really enjoyed this phone for last 10 months now. Go for it ....

I like my SE 550i, because the phone is smart looking, compatabile, and the camera is SUPERB.. the picture clarity, and sound clarity is outstanding..net surfing is good. all the way I LOVE MY mob.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. it may look sleek and good for what you pay for but it will cause you so many problems. ive had to send my phone off about 4 times and its been replaced but it still keeps freezing constantly. the buttons freeze and the camera keeps turning off!

The K550i SONYERICSSON is the best phone i've ever had in my life. To start with, its shape,weight,colour..yaaaaa, this fone is amazingly splendid! IT has a very unique sound produced, pictures and the FM radio itself is un spokable. You can even update it with the latest version available on the internet. l only wish it had very big buily in Memory. Lets communicate using Sonyericsson K550i..hahaha its my mobile line...+260979423700. Ilove sonyericsson.

I've had this phone for a couple of months now and so far it's been good! i havent really had any problems that i can think of and im getting used to all the features on it. there's two bad things about it. first the battery life for me. when i listen to music for a while or scroll through pictures at a fast rate it tends to drain the battery and ill end up half a bar or three quarters of battery left. but then that is what mp3/mp4's are used for!! secondly, the keys are a bit fiddly and it can get slightly annoying sometimes when trying to text but every phone will have that one bad feature! Overall great phone...highly recommended!

Given up trying to use the keys on this phone now, dropped it once and it doesn't work anymore now anyway. Been using it about a year. Very delicate and plasticky. But using those tiny tiny keys for texting is the worst thing for me!

a truly excellent phone :) i had this as my last phone and it has been the most long lasting phone i have ever had! the battery life was brilliant and the memory is outstanding and it has a good quality camera and a proper music player. 4 STARS!

Really really liked the phone when i bought it last year. Everything's good about it! But then it went white and turned itself off and i had to keep on turning it on until eventually it wouldnt turn on again! Returned it for repair, when i got it back it worked well for a month and the same thing happened. Returned it for a third time and got it back and it lasted around a month again before i had to return it. Just got it back a few weeks ago and it's done the same thing!! Not happy, customer service said they'd replace the phone. I'd love to get this phone as it really is excellent and great value for money, but the constant breaking is doing my head in!

i had this phone for over a year. sadly i broke the screen and had to get a new 1, the w910i. it is useless compared to the k550i. i never had any problems with the k550i. i experience problems almost every day with the w910i. if these probems occur much longer i am going to get a new k550i. amazing mobile. cannot find a fault in it. OUTSTANDING!

I agree with the above review as I have now had my K550i for some time, a 'magic' little machine that exceeds what it says on the box !! My only reservation is, as per the author, the key pad. For me this is its only downfall. Would have received a 5 star + rating but for this from myself. But there again I've yet to find the 'perfect' mobile, is there one out there somewhere!!!

I have had this phone for about a year, and i do love it. The only bad thing i could say is the internet shortcut on the left hand side, it presses so easy, and then if i don't notice it is on, then i am using up my credit unknowingly. Apart from that, its a good phone for a low budget. xx

This phone represents excellent value for money. It's neat and small and fits into your handbag or pocket easily. The keys take some getting used to though as they're so small. Im a fast texter but these buttons slow me right down. You do get used to them though. No joystick to worry about which is a bonus. To be honest this phone represented a bit of a stopgap for me while I located a new K800i. It's not really a 'keeper' more of a spare phone. LED flash instead of a xenon and only 2mp camera. Still, for the money I would recommend it.

I like this phone...brill camera and i love the light...very useful when looking for items lost under bunkbeds in ullswater :S .....I have dropped this phone LOADS of times and it hasnt stopped working so its defo a robus little thing. Its really easy to use as all Ericssons are. Love it really.....only one problem...the key lock sometimes plays up meaning the very sencitive internet button gets knocks and i find my self low on credit due to me not knowing that the internet has been on for the past 4 hrs....apart from that its brill :D

The phone is quiet good to use. But the only thing is, sometimes I'm getting a blank white display when i switch off n turn it on.. And its a big prob to go inside to access.

Excellent value for money. Good music player and reasonable camera for 2 mp with LED light. The key pad would certainly not suit the fat fingered fraternity as my fingers are small and I can just about manage. The speaker is quite quiet, so it is easy to miss a call or text when there is a lot of background noise. You definitely need a memory card, but most phones do. All in all, despite these faults it is an excellent little phone that fits in your pocket easily. Recommended.

I SO wish i got this phone a year ago instead of my k610i. only �10 more in Argos' January sales last year. i always get the worst phones. which is why i've started reading reviews on here. from friends and on here i've heard it's brill.

I have had this phone for over a year now and it has been fanstastic. I got it for �60 and had to top up by �20 at the carphone warehouse. I'd never had a phone like this before and was really excited to get it. The camera is quite good and it has flash which is a bonus. The settings you can change are great. Some of the keys tend to stick but I don't notice because I am used to the phone, although texting takes longer because some of the keys don't work sometimes. The only thing I do not like about this phone is that I'm bored of it , but maybe that's because I've had it for over a year. I would'nt recommend buying this phone now , not because it is'nt good, because it is, it's just that the phone doesn't really have any of the exciting features that other phones have today . But other thank that everything has been fine, I've never had to take it back to the shop, and as a 14 year old girl, the phone has been excellent, however, I'm now moving on to get the LG coo kie because I am starting to get really bored of this phone.

This is a great phone. K550i- The only thing is the keys are a problem. The phone has been in three times. It is great for 3-4 months and again the keys start giving trouble. I think some of us got the duds.

I've had this phone for just over a year now and it has been great. It has been dropped about 20 times (mainly by my clumpsy friends) and it is very resilient so it can't break easily. The camera quality is good. The phone itself looks cool. The sound quality when the headphones are in are better than my iPod nano's quality, so it can replace your iPod aswell. The battery life is good even when I take hundreds of pics and listen to music it doesn't drain the battery as much as other phones. The only 2 thing I dont't like about this phone are the buttons, even after a year of having it I still havn't got used to its tiny buttons and I still text very slow. Also the loudspeaker while on a phone call or when playing music is somewhat below average quality, very fuzzy. For the phone itself I would give 4 stars, but then again no phone is perfect and this is as close to perfection you can get with its low price! Excellent value for money so 5 stars.

D phone has some serious software prob.D camera is good but not at night.trust me u will not trust dat it is a 2 mp photo if u use d camera at night.D speaker sound is pooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrr.D phone has hanging prob also.In 1 word Don't even think 2 buy dis phone.

The most amazing phone ever! I absoltely love this phone! I've had it for just over a year now and not once has it dissapointed me. The camera could be better, but everything else is amazing! I've got the plum colour and even though I want to buy a new phone, I actually can't bring myself to let go of it. Amazing phone! :D

I got this phone about half a year ago and I love it :) I text all the time on it and the keypad hasn't broken yet. The camera s really good and takes amazing photos. I would recommend it to anyone. :) xx

I'm from India and jus bought this phone recently. The claims made by this review are true indeed. It's a good phone with good camera, music and internet facilities. I was using Nokia earlier and found that the k550i is more prone to scratches than Nokia, for a rough user like me. But if the phone is handled smoothly, then its really a great deal.

Had this phone since August 2007 and I can honestly say I have no regrets buying it. Never had any problems with the buttons. The cameras good for a 2mp. It's an all round good phone. Easy to use. I recommend buying this phone it's great value for money.

Jimmy, people might take your review more seriously if you were a bit more articulate and it made some sort of sense. By the way, the spelling is 'break' not 'brake'. Great 'phone by the way. Not too keen on the main number buttons though.

this phone is great :) i have had it for 11 months and it hasnt gone wrong or broken once. the camera is really good on it, and it has a flash, which helps if you are taking pictures where the lighting is poor. love the colour, mine is ruby pink, and it has a blue glow on the keys, which is good too. there is a lot of memory space on just the phone alone, and the phone supports a 2gb m2 memory card. really good music player and fm radio (dont use that much tho). has a lot of good features on it, theres the facewarp, but that got wiped off of my phone, when i reset the system settings. the internet is ok, but barely use that as it costs too much. great price when i got it �69 which was really good, considering how good the phone is. just for all of the people below, that say how bad the phone is :shame on you. this is a great little phone and im not getting another mobile for ages. would deffinetley recomend this phone or any sony ericsson phone. =)
