Reviewed by Ev on 19/08/2008 Have had this phone for a month now. After a few days the MP3 started to freeze and dropout for a second during records, which got worse and worse and was so annoying. Then the phone began to freeze regularly. But I downloaded the firmware from SE website and it has been as good as gold. MP3 player is pretty good. I got cheesed off with expensive music players that broke regularly so I wanted a music phone and this does the job pretty well. The google maps helped when I was lost one day but the screen could be bigger. The map locator (come GPS) will not tell you exactly where you are. It narrows your location to 1700m which is no use really. Phone call quality is good although it has its moments and sometimes it can be downright poor. Camera quality is excellent but you need to be fairly near to get a good shot. This is no iphone and does not have the sex appeal of some of the new smart phones but it does what it does well. Am giving it four stars. Am deducting half a star for sex appeal and another half for the keypad, which is an acquired taste and takes getting used to. If you have problems with this phone download the firmware. It's easy and sorted out all the problems I had with this phone Rating:
Reviewed by Em on 18/08/2008 gah this is SO frustrating. freezes ALL the time - while taking photos, while deleting photos, while texting... Sometimes I have to turn the phone off... and then it won't turn back on. The camera isn't even that good. And the touch screen is bloody annoying... Bump it and off goes the timer ... or puts you in video mode. GAH WHAT IS WRONG WITH SONY ERICSSON? is it really that hard to design a good quality phone? k850i fails C902 fails k800i is chunky i'm not remotely interested in trying the C905 anytime in the near future at this rate. Reviewed by len on 17/08/2008 Really it's a step down from the k810i , in theory it's great but the pictures indoors suffer from the lack of zenon flash . What's the point of 5 megapixels if they look horrible . The phone itself is pretty cool but it doesn't really do anything better than the k810i and some things are worse ie the speaker placement ,it's easier to scratch . The touch keys are novel but really just make the photo taking process more complex than it should be . I'm not going to be too hard on it though but the flash definately lets it down . I've gone back to my k810i Rating:
Reviewed by Rosiie on 16/08/2008 Woo =] I recently had the sony ericsson w580i. That was a good phone but after a while all the buttons crack and also my screen cracked and the memory card slot wasnt reading any of the memory cards. So i decided to get a new phone. So i got the c902 from the o2 shop for £230 but online it said it was £240. The camera is brilliant. It luks sik when you open up the lense and then all the fone lights up blue and dat. Touch screen buttons are cool too. The media player looks even better than walkman on my other fone. The only problems i have had with this fone so far is that on the 1st nite i had it, it kept freezin and reebooting which is very annoyin when your doing sumet and also when you have got media player on listening to your music while say.. writing a text, your hand covers the speaker and you cannot hear the music at all then as their is only one speaker on the back of the fone. What do they expect us to do.? write while its in the air! But if you get this fone you will prob ably get other that. Other than that the sony ericsson c902 is a brill fone. Camera is brilliant.. With solarize as a effect makes the camera even better. Great games ... Deal or no deal but it is only a trial but you can still try and beat the banker ;] ... need for speed which is really good as when you are driving the car you dont even have to press any buttons as you just tilt your fone left or right or up for more speed or back to slow down ... Foto quest fishing which you have to look for the fish in differtant parts of the ocean and take pictures of them for cash. Some other great features of this fone are ... Face warp which you can change a photo into various looks, Eg... professor, alien, gobbler, long face and other 15 more. Photo mate which you can download differant features to help you get to grips with the 5 mega-pixel camera. Video call where you can send a video call to someone and they will be able to see you thanks to the 2nd camera at the front of the fon e that is dedicated to video calls. Fm Radio where you can listen to the radio live as long as you have the ariel wire in your fone. Track id where the fone will record a short bit of the radio and send you the name of the song, artist and album. Video, Photo and music dj where you can add text, music, clipart, frames and colour the background in photo dj. Add pics music eg and make your own video in video dj and achange music and songs around in music dj. It still has file manager as other sony ericsson fones do but you wont really need to use it as you have media which is and looks better. Also in media if you turn your fone round 90 degrees the screen will move too same as when you go on play back mode while you are on the camera. You will only need to use file manager for your themes really. And as most fones you have o2 active which you can go on for free and download music, pictures and themes for quite cheep. And you also have internet access which is where 3G comes i n. You can download and watch videos live or not online as fast as a computer would. The internet does cost but is quite cheep i think. So thats nearly Everythink on the fone =] So i Say... GO AND BUY iiT .. #! :] You will NOT be dissapointedd! Thankyou and i hope this helped.! Thankyou Rating:

Reviewed by steve on 15/08/2008 THIS PHONE IS FAULTY! we had 3 as a contract and each one failed to work. the froze and switched themselves off. but returned to normal after taking out the battery. one music player, only said "FAILED" when opened one other just completely died didnt respond to anything. going back to o2 to be checked and then replaced by something else. really not worth it. the camera video has the same quality as a 3mp yet it is a bit smoother but still very pixelated. Reviewed by Raqia on 15/08/2008 I just got this phone 2 days ago and its fantastic! The only problem is that when I made a few calls, the person on the other end had trouble hearing me at times since my voice kept breaking off, and sometimes vice versa..so I took my phone back to the shop and my sales assistant said if the problem persists, he'll just give it a software upgrade and the problem should stop..so that should sort that problem out.. Also, if you do get this phone, dont get the plastic case to go with it..its sooo flimsy and cheapy! Mines has already broke and got scratches on it! Dunno how that happened! But on the plus side, the camera is brilliant, the video quality is much better than the k800i and it has auto-orientation which is an i-phone feature! So cool! Overall, great phone - Id definately recommend it :-) Rating:

Very disappointing from Sony!! Rating:
Reviewed by Graham Cooper on 15/08/2008 I have had the phone for a week having had a Samsung for the last two years. Its a nice phone to hold, although having big hands the keys are abit on the small side. It's easier to use than the Samsung. menus are clear. Battery life doesn't seem quite as good but the camera quality is excellent. Does anyone know how to turn off the flash at night? Even with the 'flash off' set, it still flashes automatically when i don't alwats want it on! Overall a very smart easy to use phone and i would recommend it. Rating:
Reviewed by Steve on 15/08/2008 I've had this phone for just over a month. I've been trying to exchange it for the last two weeks. The speaker quality is bad, the phone turns off randomly and takes a while to boot up, the alarm NEVER works, the battery life is poor. There are so many other problems. The only good thing is the camera but if that's the only good thing then I might as well have gone and bought a camera. I'm going back to Nokia. Rating:

Reviewed by nikki on 14/08/2008 Ok, lots of things really. I have to take out my K800i as well as this phone. Just so that i can take photos at night. The flash is appalling. The software for the phone is not compatible for Vista. I downloaded new software compatible for vista but it doesnt work. The alarm often doesnt go off at all. It often switches off. The battery life is terrible (I have 3 batteries now). I use this for access to my internet via phone to laptop. Once you get around the software (which can take a while every single time you want to set up, as it says files not installed) thats very good. Phone is capable of running net at high speeds. I am impressed with this, and as it is small and portable, its a handy portable modem. When i have taken photos in day time they are incredible quality. Sound quality from radio is good to headphones but not yet tried the mp3 player. Audio quality from ringtone is excellent. It surfs the net on the mobile with speed, and texts and calls come thro ugh when you are on the net (although cuts u off temporarily). I wish Sony would sort out software. its just not compatible with Vista at all. Which is annoying as new computers come with vista. How much would it cost to put an additional CD that works in the box? I have downloaded new pc suite from the net, but that doesnt really work either. Its frustrating! All in all not a bad phone as i find the size useful but you will need to purchase additional batteries as the battery doesnt last more than 24 hours (if you are lucky)...i did install new software and it often says no phone installed. Also it doesnt always charge, it doesnt always recognise the usb to charge either. So I have to ensure i charge on a electrical charger. But even then sometimes it doesnt recognise the charger. Rating:

Reviewed by Helen Shute on 13/08/2008 I'm on my second C902 courtesy of Vodafone warranty and about to receive the third today due to various probs. Hey, call me an optimist, it could be third time lucky. Why am I a glutton for punishment? Because this is a funky, good lookin phone with a cool camera. However, I have had no end of probs with flickering video, slow response to commands, jumping from one function to another, turning itself on and off, charger not charging, the more photos/data stored, the slower it gets if it doesn't crash completely...the list goes on. If this one does the same they can shove it right up their big red jacksy! The jury is somewhat OUT! Rating:

Reviewed by Lee Bekier on 13/08/2008 Iv had this phone now on Virgin for about a week now, you do get used to the buttons, at first its a bit of a nightmare...but please bare with it - it will get better. The battery doesnt seem to last much before the first green cell disappears on the icon, maybe its just coz im playing with it all the time. The phone is great and does get a 5 star approval...the led light does let it down tho abit. The style and the nice feel to it really makes a difference, in the past its always kind of bulky type phones but this is a nice slim design. Anwway, its one great phone and does everything it says on the tin, obviously if the flash was a Zenon then it would have been 100% great, maybe thats the only way SE could make it such a slim design...who knows. If your looking for a top class phone thats got loads of style, everyone i know is like "wow is that the new SE phone" and when you open the camera slide function and the lue LED light shines for a second..there even more impressed lol Go out and buy this phone, you will impressed!! To all the people that keep getting freezing and other things happening to their phone...... Have you treid installing the new firmware? available from SE website? This is a common thing to do when buying a new phone, the firmware thats on it mught be old and have patchy codes, the new one is out and available for downloading. Just remember and back up everything, it doesnt affect your sim so if you can move everything on to that. good luck. Rating:

Reviewed by Tim on 13/08/2008 Basically on paper the best phone ever invented, and extremely stylish. However, issues with the firmware - alarm failure has made me late for work twice now, and the music player, despite being very good quality, stutters randomly (not linked to type of file, or location) which is quite annoying. Keys are a bit small for big hands too but not a massive issue. Rating:
Reviewed by John on 12/08/2008 Now on my second phone and this one will be also going back. The first one developed a fault after about 1 week. There would be a flickering on the camera when recording in video mode. Now having had the second one for about 1 1/2 weeks it has turned it's self off 4 times and frozen a couple of times. If it weren't for these faults it would be a very good phone which I do like but I'm sorry but these faults aren't acceptable, back it goes. Rating:

Swiching itself off, not turning back on ... when it is switched on it freezes constantly; when dialing, when texting, whilst gaming and using the internet - REALLY annoying. Then to top it all, practically EVERY call I make they can hear me but for 10/15 seconds at a time I can't hear the other person !!! Nightmare ...I've been a very happy sony ericsson user for about 6yrs now, this handset is a shamble. Reviewed by Darkolee on 11/08/2008 Phone arrived this morning, 8 hours later these are my first thoughts. Asthetics are fantastic, and overall it glows the usual Sony quality, but look closer and the side lines dont allign 100% ok im taking 100's of a cm but still its not like Sony to have even the smallest of imperfections on their kit. The phone feels bendy?! Who the hell designed the keypad? Its shocking to text on. The touch buttons on the screen for camera operation whilst valid and well thought of in pre design dont work very well at all in relation to finger response. Having major lag problems when looking at pictures and turning the phone from vertical on to its side as well, the whole media menu which I love on my PS3 seems again to lag and feel sloppy on this phone. All in all im really disapointed. I had the K750i in the past and loved it, the C902 just doesnt work well enough in my humble opinion to be a market leader. For a phone this thin though you have to be impressed with the camera, as a point and shoot out of your pocket capture device you cant grumble at all with the results. The built in speaker gives my Samsung stand alone MP3 player a run for it's money as well. Who knows with time I may get on better with my new phone, but first impressions are very mixed. Rating:

Not just reset , actually turn off and not restart until the battery was removed. I attempted to return it as faulty but the sales assistant took the battery out of the phone and started it up , then refused either a refund or exchange as apparently it is now carphone warehouses' policy not to refund or exchange unless they can witness the fault themselves , in other words they would have to see the phone turn itself off !! It's a real shame as in many ways it's a fantastic handset but if it can't fulfill it's primary purpose as a phone , all the gizmos don't mean a thing so far as I'm concerned.I have since bought a Nokia N82 which has proven reliable.
