Reviewed by Toni on 15/04/2009 I know it's 2009 (four years since its popularity) but I still feel the need to emphasise how g00d this mobile really is. For you basic mobile needs (calling&texting) it meets them very well. I've had N0 problems regarding calling quality or sending/recieving texts. Although the battery life l00ks bad on paper, it actually lasts quite a while - i'll make/recieve several calls a day and the odd text and get a few days battery life --- yeah not the best of battery life, but more than acceptable!! Regarding media usage the phone has a g00d camera (better than most 1/1.3MP cameras I know of) very nice display, both the internal and external screen, and a g00d quality MP3 player as well! Overall an excellent device!!! Rating:

Reviewed by bai on 26/10/2008 This phone sucks, My partner and I both bought this phone brand new from Noel Lemmings when it first came out at $900.00. Wihtin the first 3mnths of purchase, they both played up. No one told us about viruses, there for couldn't use the phone full stop. The company that manufacture this phone wouldn't give us a refund or our money back. There fore we had to go months with out a $900 phone each, Truley sucked, not to mention the added stress. Took both phones in for repair, 3mnths later they couldn't fix mine so had to replace it with a new one and my partner got his back 6mnths later coming, back worse than he had bought it brand new. This phones got poor resolution on the video, you don't get long at recording video's when you want to record for sending messages, try 3 sec's and the voice recording, only takes a verse of a song at a time, four years later we've had to buy new battery for both, both phones receive txt messages days too late, mine no longer displays e xternal date and his now turns off every time he's not using it, not to mention it has 4 bars for battery charge and when finished fully charging it, it goes straight away back to 2 bars. Do not buy this phone, in fact do not even buy SHARP. This phone doesn't even deserv a star. Rating:

Reviewed by Karen Lord on 14/09/2006 Ive had this phone for nearly a year, The battery life is now useless and needs a full replacement, There cant be anything more frustrating. I have only been charging it when required, so I have not abused it. The picture quality is not as good as some of the cameras now. When printing the pictures off they are quite fuzzy. This phone replaced my GX30, it was expensive and I feel I should have just kept my old one. I think Battery power is a No.1 Issue that should be considered when having a phone I just wish there was a wedsite where you could show phone battery comparision all on one page. Rating:
Reviewed by Mike on 05-04-2006 Can I just start by saying that reveiws merely stating 'utter rubbish' or
the like are really rather pointless and please don't bother. Also, my GX30i has fallen out of my pocket while i'm skateboarding many times and i've even ridden over it with only minor pysical scarring, so the carpet-drop gug is lying. In all honesty I think if you want a camera above about 1 MP in a phone, you'd be better off getting a digital camera.
The battery life is good and the screen fantastic. I personally have no
bluetoothing problems and i send videos and songs via it, not used infrared much but it seems to work well. Yes, it is large, but I think it is forgivable as its only real defect I can see it in it. I also really like the OS on it which is often overlooked in phones, i find it really
easy to use. However I cannot say if it is good value for money on PAYG
because I accuired it as an ex-contract phone. In general, I love it. Rating:
Reviewed by Adam on 15-02-2006 I got this phone off ebay and for the money im very impressed, here are the pros:
-Top class screen 262k
-Very good camera with macro mode and very good zoom range
-Loud Ringtones
-cool disco light and camera flash
-pretty good battery life
cons:
-400k video restriction
-its quite a large phone which some people might not like -you need a memory card reader to put mp3s on etc
-signal isnt amazing
-you can only accept 100k files thorugh bluetooth
although there are a few restrictions, i really like this phone and im impressed with the screen and camera and overall simplicity, well done sharp! Rating:

I have dropped it on concrete so many times and it hasnt so much as chipped. The pictures are so clear you'd think they came from a digital camera and they are MASSIAVE!!!the video isnt as clear but still great & lasts ages. the flash is fantastic, you can store hundreds of messages & photos. Only tiny thing that really annoys me is when you delete a text or a picture from your list, it goes straight back to the beginning again! Grrr! It is a year old now & still perfect!!!! Rating:

Reviewed by clive on 17-07-2005 I recently aquired one of these and I personally think they are in the top 3 best mobiles at the moment. The phone has full bluetooth (not like the gx30) so you can link up with hands free headset and friends phones to exchange pictures and sound etc. The 1.0 Megapixel is pretty good the pictures are printable when you download them to pc. I MUST say thet the display screen is the best out there, it's very clear and shows all the detail. I am yet to see another phone with a display as good as that. Friends have bought latest phones and still poor quality. This part is one of my favorites of the phone. The speaker is very good & you can play mp3's which is a bit rubbish as there is a limit on the file size (100KB). You can put a bigger SD memory card in so you can fit more data on the phone. The battery lifes not to good if you are playing with the phone all day but I would say its pretty much average for mobile batteries. The reception (Vodafone) is not quite as good as on my last phone but not bad. I'm using the same sim card. This is definitly one of the best out there. Buy it. The phone is not as small as some other phones but also not as big as others. The phone also feels strong and well made. 8.5 out of 10. Rating:
Reviewed by trevor on 11-06-2005 Wheras the GX30 was a Rolls Royce among mobile phones with only one wheel, Sharp took notice and upgraded it to the GX30i...a Rolls Royce with two wheels! It is seriously deficient in the connectivity stakes. If you only want to make calls and take photos to send to your PC, then fine. It is perfectly adequate. If your life is a little less frivolous than merely talking and taking photos, and you want it to accept pictures/files from your PC or synchronise with your calendar or phone book -forget it! It has a seriously restricted connectivity. Sharp have also climbed into bed with Vodafone on this phone. In two words - ZERO SUPPORT! Look on the internet and see all the people who cannot get the phone to connect to the handset manager. After weeks of trying I havn't managed. Sharp wash their hands of responsibility for support and Vodafone staff are clueless. It does NOT have voice recognition, making it unacceptable for hands-free in-car dialling. It has a range of pretty incoming call lights, but they cannot be allocated to groups. (I can live with that - I picked a colour and stuck with it - I like green). Files can be sent to your phone, but youre going to have to buy a card reader and trransfer little files that way because of its limited connectivity. For a real lifestyle - this is just expensive kid's stuff. Rating:
Reviewed by carl on 03-06-2005 so far so good - had mine just a few days, my first time from motorola clam designs in years. i miss the chunky feel of the motorola's (i doubt the sharp is as substantial) but after wasting my time with a 3g v980 (battery life measured in minutes!) it is a relief to have a phone with normal battery life expectations. 3g seems - at the moment - utterly pointless. however, one question, i cannot get bluetooth working on gx30i with my laptop - can use bluetooth between the two manually as it were (ie, using the file manager) but i cannot get the supplied software from sharp "handset manager" to communicate between laptop and mobile. most odd. bluetooth is usually a doddle and this is first time i have not been able to resolve. could you please email me direct if know of any tips/tricks to resolve this as this is - so far - only flaw i can see with phone. yes, the camera is as amazing as people say. carl@egoboss.com Rating:

Reviewed by Allah on 15-02-2005 This is a great phone with a great camera which takes great quality pictures. The problem is it has severe limitations. Bluetooth cannot access the memory card and only access the handset memory. The handset memory can only accept a maximum of 100kb download. So if you want to download MP3 files you need a SD memory card reader/writer with a USB cable. What is the point of having phone which can accept a 512 Mb memory card but only accepts 100 kb downloads to the phone memory? It also cannot play MP3 ringtones. Reviewed by Will on 07-01-2005 I haven't actually got a GX30i as of yet, but I am considering buying one. Me being me I have read every single possible review and looked endlessly at the different mobile phones available on the market. I found it extremely difficult to find a review that actually helped me and didn't just tell me that one or two GX30i's have broken in halve before... It seems to be a good phone, my friend has one and the camera quality looks good. This however is only true if the camera is held completly still, one slight movement and the whole picture is left blurred. The video capture, as I believe with all camera phones has not quite arrived but the phone does manage to sustain a reasonable flowing movie mode. The phone itself, I believe is quite large, certainly in comparision to mobiles from Samsung. In terms of difference between the GX30 and the i model, there has being an improved Bluetooth function which makes sending files much more easier than it was orginally. With increased camera technology, it is becoming more and more vital that there is sufficient memory space on your mobiles. The GX30i supplies the by the use of an SD card, which is expandble, this is an extremely useful facility for people who love to take lots of photos. The SD card, although useful is only useful to an extent, MP3's can't easily be placed onto the card. The reception of the phone has also being a major fault that people have found, many complaining that the reception is extremely senstive. To sum up, I do believe that I am going to buy this mobile, simply because of a tarrif I have seen. I don't like the appearence of the phone compared to my little Smasung E700 BUT I want the improved camera, the SD card facility and again the tarrif I have chosen... Rating:
