Reviewed by nattie on 24-10-2005 by the way, the infrared is only for pcs, not for sending to other mobiles, thats why youve been having trouble using it. it is a stupid idea though! but apart from that.. the camera is better then most megapixel ones, except the GX30, which is even better. Another problem, is the battery, it never even lasted me a day, or even a few hours, so in the end, i gave the phone away for free! Rating:
Reviewed by ash on 09-02-2005 This phone is outstanding, but there is one thing that i am disapointed in, is that the infrared doesnt work. I cant send or recieve pictures when using infrared which i find a bit weird. Everyone i know that has this phone have complained about the infrared not working so if it doesnt work at all then why put it on the flippin phone? eh? Rating:

Reviewed by gingerpuss on 26-07-2004 im getting my sharp gx20 in 2 days time on wednesday. i know the sharp gx30 is out now but i dont really care because the gx30 hasnt really got anything added to it that the gx20 doesnt have and its just too expensive. ive been reading a lot about the gx20 and i love it already. my friend has got the gx10i and i think that is a really good phone, so i cant wait to see how much better the gx20 is!!!! im so excited!! i used to have the sony ericson t68i. and that was a rubbish phone with no camera......ive been waiting for a camera phone all my life...and this is apparently one of the best camera phones you can get..so wheyhey!!!! also ive heard that you can put pictures of the people who are calling on there so that their faces flash up when they call!! how cool is that!!! and the external screen is well good!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Kevin on 12-02-2004 Apart from the obvious lack of Bluetooth and the ability to connect to other phones via infrared, this phone is everything I wanted. The quality of the screen is outstanding and the camera is absolutely amazing, I dont need a digital cam anymore! The menu is slightly boring if you compare it with europes version of the same phone (GX22) however it is very quick and has virtually no lack on it unlike the nokia 7210 which I had last. I paid nothing for the phone on contract from the Link and get a monthly payment of #25, which i can change after 3 months so even the price was right. The software for the phone comes with it, so all you need to buy is an MA620 Infrared Device and you can upload/dowload images, sounds and video but not Java games! Anything you want is on Vodaphone Live and this phone gives direct links to all the parts you may want. As others have said the calender looks poor and is not very useful however I think the alarm does the job... I mean... it wakes you up! Sound quality and picture quality on this thing is better then the Nokia 6600, however the lack of a built in memory card and bluetooth is the only thing the phone is missing! Rating:
Reviewed by Bungle666 on 17-12-2003 Right first off, ian what the hell you on about? the Sharp phones out perform any nokia phones by far. I for one have the GX10i and the GX20, my family also have a wide range of cam phones (family is phone mad). My dad has the new Nokia 3360(circular keypad) and the rest have samsungs and motorolas. The fact it makes a little noise when your taking a picture, so what!!! I for one dont care when the quality of the pic doesnt look like some really cheap funcam from Asda (which the Motorola does look like and most Nokias) The phone is excellent, the quality of the camera is superb, the video cam mode is great too. The menu layout is well designed and easy. Calling someone is easy enough for a monkey to do, the fact its a 4 point operation is because the phone likes to give you more options which allways come in usefull. Ive used alot of different brand phones so far, Nokia, Motorola, Sagem, Samsung and LG. The only phone that even comes close is the new LG phone on which has recently come on the market and thats still a fair way behind the Sharp in some ways. Also you can! add words to the T9 dictionary if you read the manual or go to the website, its in the FAQ section. If anyone is after a top notch cam phone and has #399 to start with, get the sharp, you will not be dissapointed!!! NOTE - it doesnt cost #30 for additonal software, just download it from sharp for free! Rating:

Reviewed by Martin on 01-11-2003 I give this phone a 10 out of 10. O.K. yes, there are very, very minor details that if you could have it all your own way you probably would change, but you have that with any phone. And as for the review before by Ian, what a joke. Take it from me \"this is \'THE\' best mobile phone on the market to date\" If you read any reviews that give it any less than 4 out of 5 stars.... there lying! \"AND THATS THE TRUTH\" Rating:

Reviewed by Neil H on 24-10-2003 Ok let\'s get one thing straight, the dictionary on this thing DOES store new words. It is also easily the best quality picture phone on the market. It is also the most customisable phone on the market and the external screen is extremely cool and impresses everyone. If you got the money to buy stuff, then vodafone live is pretty much everything you need. Video camera, voice recorder all excellent and the navigation system to be fair blows Nokia out of the water in my opinion. Speed dials DO work. Much has been written about the calender on this thing and there is no doubt that the calender on this phone is pants and so to a certain extent is the alarm. If this is a big issue for you, don\'t get the phone. If you don\'t use your phone as a calender, then this is just about the perfect phone. Nuff said. I don\'t think the fact that the calender is pants justifies giving a phone of this quality such a low rating but it is the reason that it doesn\'t get 5 stars out of 5. Very happy with it. Reviewed by Allan Dsouza on 17-10-2003 This phone is the best ever.Camera has a class of its own in terms of sharpness and clarity.A built in torch which comes in handy. The ring tones need to be improved.Very user friendly. Rating:
Reviewed by Ian on 10-10-2003 Having had a large number of Nokia phones previously, I was seduced by the screen, and the fact that it had a flash for the camera. Plus points. Easy to use for beginners. Superb screen. Superb Camera. Down points. Phoning people is a 4 point operation. Push, down, select user, select phone number, select call. You cannot set a default number for the user, you cannot rearrange the phone numbers. Handsfree kit has no auto answer, what\'s the point, the phones in my pocket, I want the phone to answer the call, not have to dig around for it, or try and get the small button. Alarm requires phone to be on. Can\'t turn off sound of camera, so it wakes up babies if you try taking pictures of them. Built in software is poor, and you have to pay #30 for upgraded software to allow you to do basic things like upload pictures or melodies, however this software is also very poor. Overall, great Camera, poor phone. If you take more pictures than make or take calls, then get it. If you want flash over function, then get it. Otherwise avoid. Rating:

Reviewed by Leslie Asare on 18-09-2003 Barely a year has passed and Vodafone has released its 3rd GX camera phone. Camera phones have come a long way since the introduction of the 256 colour capabilities of the Sony Erricsson T68. The GX20 for me has to be the best 65,000+ colour camera phone out on the market, thanks mainly to its impressive user interface and display that displays smooth, rich bright, vivid, crisp and sharp graphics. There has been significant physical improvements from its predecessor (the GX10i) The first noticeable feature is the postage stamp size colour external display which replaces the monochrome display and the smalll round mirror for taking self portraits on the GX10i. Users can actually see themselves in full colour before taking snaps or videos of themselves, there is a dedicated key to enable the user to switch camera display from external to the main display. The picture quality of the Sharp GX20 has to be the best quality I have seen to date from a camera phone, this is than! ks duely to its 310,000 pixels and its large screen display. There is also a bright flash light that works extremely well for taking pictures in poor lighting conditions and in dark rooms. There is also a macro dial on the front of the lense for taking close ups. Try taking a picture of yourself and then send it to your email address and you will see what I mean by the picture quality of the camera. Other new features of the camera include: continuous shooting, digital zoom, switching the viewfinder from the main display to the external dispaly for self portraits, picture quality selection. As well as being slightly lighter and thinner than its predecessor, the Sharp GX20 also boasts video capture and play back for 10 seconds, which, clips can only be sent to other GX20 users as multimedia messages. Also, stored pictures and video clips all have thumbnails next to them, so you can see a small picture of the stored file. You can assign pictures to your contact list, so ! when you recieve a call, not only does their name and number appear, but also their picture, both on the external display and on the main display. The internal memory holds 2MB of video clips, pictures ringtones and java games, which is more than enough as they are in compressed formats. Overall this is an excellent camera phone from Sharp. The only thing that I would say that this phone lacks is the use of Bluetooth to connect to other devices and a built in SD memory card to download films and music. But overall an excellent advanced mobile camera handset from Sharp. Rating:
Reviewed by Mark Flynn on 06-09-2003 I have been a fan of the Sharp GX phone since the GX10. The menu is simple to navigate, and the phone suffers from none of the delays which hinder phones such as the SE T68i. From the moment a noticed the GX20 I was interested to see the improvements. The first thing to hit you is the fantastic clarity of the menu screen. The second is the quality of the photos. It is absolutely fantastic. Way above any other I have seen on other phones. The size of the images are larger but also has the option to change the pic type to \'fine\' photo quality. Movie clips are good, only 10 second each, but fun nevertheless, as is the idea if the light. Great for taking pics if you are in a club or out at night. You can also change the colour of the light to suit the mood of the pic you want to take. The menu is still much the same as the GX10 but with obvious improvements rather than new features. The ability to download via a cable is good and easy, an apparently it will be blutooth compati! ble thanks to a blutooth plug that goes into the headphone jack. Haven\'t seen this yet but I was assured from Vodafone staff it is due anytime. The only down side so far that I have seen is that, if you take pictures in large sige or you film too much of a clip, it says it is too large to send via MMS. This applies to both another phone or mail address. I find this a bit strange but hope to find I am doing something wrong. (fingers crossed) I am still navigating the new features, but my advise is to check it out. It is definitely worth a look and blows others away on ease and photo quality. I would recommend it to anyone, weather for business or fun. Rating:
