Samsung V200
Product Rating
If you want to look the business, the Samsung V200 camera phone is the one for you! Even if it hadn't been featured in the Matrix Reloaded, it would still be one of the hottest products of summer 2003. What makes the Samsung V200 so desirable is the unique combination of small yet stunning good looks, superb colour display and polyphonic ringtones, and the integrated digital camera that is simply the best camera yet seen on a mobile phone. The Samsung V200 has some great features including an amazingly crisp 65,000 colour display, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), GPRS (fast, always-on internet access) and triband (global roaming). MMS means that you can send and receive multimedia messages containing text, MIDI audio files, and graphics or animations. You can send MMS messages to another MMS capable phone or to an e-mail address. The V200 is Samsung's first phone with an integrated digital camera. The camera can rotate a full 180° and uses a digital zoom. There is storage capability for around 100 pictures. You can send photos using MMS, or save them as wallpaper. Picture quality is excellent compared with other current mobile phones. Like the earlier T100 and A800, the Samsung V200 features the extremely popular dual-display that means you can see who's calling you before deciding whether to take the call. To accept the call, you just flip open the phone. The external display also shows useful information like date & time, battery life and reception quality. The display on the Samsung V200 is excellent, with 65,000 colours and a larger resolution than the Samsung T100. The quality of the polyphonic ringtones is also superb, with 40 voices (compared to just 4 voices on some other polyphonic phones, e.g. the Nokia 7210). In addition, the V200 is compact and lightweight (compare the weight of this phone with the bulky Nokia 7650!), and of course it boasts stunning good looks. Samsung has truly excelled itself with this phone! The only feature missing is the ability to download Java games, but apart from this, it can't be faulted.
Features of the Samsung V200 include:
- Built-in rotating digital camera (640 x 480 resolution)
- WAP 1.2.1 (GPRS)
- High-resolution full colour screen (TFD, 65,000 colours, 128 x 160 pixels) plus external display
- MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)
- Predictive text messaging (T9)
- Speed dialling
- 40 polyphonic ringtones and customisable ringtones
- Phone memory (500 names)
- Caller display (on outer screen)
- Built-in infra-red modem & USB connection
- Downloadable wallpaper
- Calculator, clock, calendar, games, currency converter
- Size: 91 x 48 x 23 mm
- Weight: 96g
- Battery standby: 100 hours
- Battery talktime: 4 hours
- Vibration alert
- Triband

Reviewed by > Request" - could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Also, where on 12-03-2006 Dissappointed. Have owned since it first came out. Found out late that I
could not send or receive photos. Has just broken down on me. No repairer in my home town and had to send away to have fixed. It is now six weeks and still not back. Quoted price to fix was enormous and I regret that I agree to it, but as I already had to pay $32.00 postage, it was easier to say go ahead, and at the time they said it would take two weeks to fix.
I also know that there are much simplier to use phone available now, and
also lighter ones.
I certainly would not buy another Samsung. Sorry, but mine has been a lemon. Rating:

Reviewed by jaimee on 19-08-2005 this phone is ok, i first bought it nearly 2 years ago, wen it was really expensive, i luvd the look of it and always liked it because it woz a flip phone. however, i was quickly annoyed with the amount of money i spent on it and the little amount of features that it actually has. The camera is excellent but the fact that there is no night mode and only 100 photos can be stored is disapointing. tryin to write a text also takes a lot to get used to, and very few msgz can be saved. I would reccommend anyone to buy this phone now, there are much cheaper ones with more features. The arial on it also is annoying. overal, its good but get a nicer on if u thinkin of gettin it!! Rating:
Reviewed by Mattmoo on 30-04-2005 This was my first ever phone and it was highly credible. It would have been a 4 1/2 star rating when it came out because the only phones with video that you could buy at the time were around #600 and they were like bricks and this was (I think) the first phone with a swivel camera). It seems quite average now because of phones that have video are now far more cheaper and there are better contracts on them. Video phones seem to have left this phone in the dust of time a bit. It is still a reasonable little phone and has stunning looks but is nothing special. If buying it, don't buy it on orange. It is next to impossible to get games, ringtones and pictures that are compatible to this phone on their internet service. I now have a sharp GX30 and I am getting a Sony Ericsson V800 today, so that is probably why I have given it 3 stars. If you don't compare it to any phones that where made after 2003, then this is a brilliant phone. It makes a good little starter phone and can be compared to the Motorola V525. Rating:
Reviewed by kate mcmullin on 11-04-2005 i have had this fone for over a year now and it has been excellent. The swivel camera and the menu options plus colour are very good in standard and this fone has served me very well, i am surprised it has been taken of the market as it is a really good fone. The nonsence about it bein a rubbish fone from some of ur entries well its not the fone thats wrong its you!! i love my fone and would recommend it to any 1 any day !! :-) Rating:
Reviewed by Sandie on 24-10-2004 The text alert is really annoying, it can't be changed and it goes off every few minutes until you read the text. The alarm does not have a snooze button (though there are 3 different alarms so you could set them to go off sequentially). The text input is difficult (impossible for me) to get used to... I hardly send texts now because it annoys me too much. The battery life is not good... The phone book lets you set home, mobile and office for each person.. but does not tell you which one you are calling on quick dial. Altogether far too annoying... but it does look nice. Rating:

Reviewed by Ollie on 07-08-2004 I recieved this phone a while ago, and i am now realising that it was a mistake to buy this phone rather than the phone i was originally going to get, The Sony Ericsson T630. Im 14 and have little money, and the likelyhood of my parents buying me a new phone because i "don't like it" is , well basically its not going to happen. I bought it SIM Free and at first i was really impressed by the phone, the screen quality is good, the sound is excellent, however, battery life leaves a lot to be desired. I use the phone a lot for text messaging and phone calls and i am finding that i need to charge it too much. The longest time it has given me is four days without needing a charge which is abysmal. My Nokia 3510i used to only need charging every so often, but now that is broken and there is no warranty i was in need of a new phone. I did a great amount of research into which phone to get and it came to a choice between the Sony Ericsson and this. I am so disappointed and i am kicking myself for making the choice of getting the V200. I am wondering if there is any chance of me getting the money back from the website so i can get the T630. Also, When I got it the screen has a strange sort of lump in it? is this wrong, sometimes the colour doesnt display correctly on it and i was wondering what to do. advice would be greatly appreciated Rating:
Reviewed by SLR on 28-07-2004 This is the worst phone i have EVER had!! i try and send texts some days and it just wont let me and it has freezed me out of the WAP access for about 7 months now. i have taken it back to the O2 shop near me and all they say is it should be up and running within a few days. The next problem is the screen freezes often and turns itself on and off about 5 or 6 times a day. I again took it back and AGAIN they said that it was my fault for damaging it which i havn't. I am NEVER going back to O2 and i am never getting another samsung phone. Rating:

Reviewed by Jen on 18-01-2004 I haven\'t got this phone but this is what I think about people who say that it\'s weak and that the screen gets cracked etc. The only reason these people have things wrong with their mobiles, is that they don\'t take care of them, they don\'t respect them in everyway possible! I am not talking about V200 reviews I am talking about others. Okay if it is a truly bad phone on which people complain, then its okay. I am receiving this phone later this week from TheLink.com and I can say that I was somewhat off put by these summissions, but my best friend has this mobile and there is nothing wrong with hers, you know why? Because she takes care of it. Some people just don\'t know the value of money and they think its okay to treat a phone like dirt, but its not they are not perfectly enhansed with an air-bag, they will break if you throw them down the stairs every week but if you avoid this they will last you years. So if you are being put off by some of these entries then just ignore them take it from me this is not a phone you will make a mistake by getting Peace X. Rating:

ThenI listened to the ringtones and they were amazing! The games are entertaining too. Evryone\'s jealous of me! My sister always copies eveything I do but she just got a nokia 3510i so she couldn\'t change it straight away. I was amazed when i first got the 3510i so I was in heaven when I saw v200! Reviewed by Emma on 21-12-2003 i got this phone a few weeks ago and so far it is a very good fone good camera good screen can download polyphonic ringtones easill on the wap browser at www.polyphonicringtonez.com/wap. however there are sum niggly annoying things ive noticed that u get with a nokia (big nokia fan) the text messaging takes a while to get used to but u can insert sounds whihc is good. when u put the fone on silent then turn it off it does not stay on silent wen u turn it on whihc is quite annoyin as it makes an embarassin noise wen it turns on especially if you want to turn it on in a place whihc needs no noise. also if you are on the camera and you go straight to the normal screen by closing the flap or pressing the red button the screen sometimes freezes but u just press cancel! if you are wantin to buy this phone it is an excellent phone and i have taken lots of pictures of my friends which i treasure i would really recommend it and you get used to it after a while if you are a big nokia ! fan! because lets face it the nokia pictures arent really up to standard are they! Reviewed by Andrew Summers on 07-12-2003 First of all im gonna start by saying i am really into mobile phones and have had most or used most on the market. I have always tried to get away from Nokia for something different but even to this day there is not a better make. I have had the Samsung V200 for 4 months and to be honest its a ok phone. The screen quality and sound is excellent. The problems i found are that the battery just about lasts you a day whether u use the slim or the standard battery, texting takes ages to get used to and is still not as gud as the nokia as it doesnt remember words that arnt in the dictionary, you cant stop the phone from ringing or vibrating when someone is calling and you dont want to answer and after a while the flip on the phone seems to go really flimsy and wobbles. I have changed phones again now and have gone back to a Nokia and i think im gonna stick with them untill another company get it right. Rating:

All these people moaning about the text messaging function are just nitpicking, granted there are a few bugs that could be ironed out, but apart from those minor details this fone could not get any better if they tried. Reviewed by Dave on 16-09-2003 Hey, it looks cool, but in reality this phone is truly awful. Text messaging is horrendous. User configuration is virtually non-existent. The operating system is buggy. The camera doesn\'t work very well. There are no normal ring tones. All the reviews you have read giving this phone a 5 star rating were either Matrix fans or phone salespeople. Probably the latter. This is nothing more than a poor toy of a phone. Avoid it! Rating:
