Samsung T100

Product Rating

Samsung T100 Considering buying this phone? Check out the Samsung V200 and Samsung S300 too.

Launched in May 2002, the Samsung T100 is still an outstanding phone. Its two principle features are the large full colour display and high-quality polyphonic ringtones (i.e. ringtones that sound like real music, not just a series of beeps).

Like all the current Samsungs, it's a fantastic looking phone, that just oozes style! It features the extremely popular dual-display that means you can see who's calling you before deciding whether to take the call. To accept the call, you just flip open the phone. The external display also shows useful information like date & time, battery life and reception quality.

Features of the Samsung T100 include:

  • WAP
  • High-resolution full colour screen (TFT, 4096 colours, 128 x 128 pixels) plus external display
  • Predictive text messaging (T9)
  • Voice dialling and speed dialling
  • Voice memo
  • 16 polyphonic ringtones and customisable ringtones
  • Phone memory (500 names)
  • Caller display
  • Built-in modem
  • 3 games
  • Downloadable screensavers
  • Calculator, clock
  • Size: 88 x 50 x 22 mm
  • Weight: 87g
  • Battery standby: 60 hours
  • Battery talktime: 1.3 hours
  • Vibration alert
  • Dual band

Ahhh.... I remember having this phone like it was yesterday. I used to have a Sagem before this particular phone and my mates used to laugh at me. Well, 2002 and I got me one of these and my phone was the envy amongst my circle of friends. It was soo easy to use, had a brilliant screen and with great ring tones. In todays world or wi-fi & touch screens, this phone does not stand a chance but for anyone looking for an honest reliable phone that can make calls and send txts in an easy trouble free way, this is all the phone you'll ever need.

The T100 is a fantastic phone. Its simple to use and providing your not into all the state of the art accessories its a really good phone. I have had it for 8yrs now and I hve droped it so many times and it just bounces back. The battery is still going for up to 3 days at a time and it doesnt break easily when droped. If your looking for a phone that looks good and just to txt and chat and one that doesnt break easily like the newer phones then get this one!!!

I've had this phone for 3 1/2 years and it's served well but if you're looking for a modern mobile with all the new technologies then avoid this phone just because phones have moved on so much since its release. Reception quality is poor which is why I'm looking for a new phone. Texting is ok and the tunes on it are good. The style and design of the phone is still excellent and the buttons are easy to use. The layout of the phone is simple and easy to use and I love the flashing light on the side. The antenna is quite big but the phone is small enough to fit in a pocket comfortably and get out of the way. Battery life is good but there isn't much room for improvement e.g. cannot download songs or games.

When the T100 first arrived on our shelves, I immediately fell in love with it's shine, rounded edges, small profile, and large colour display. It was a world apart from other phones on the market at the time, that just didn't do it for me. To this day, I have still used my T100 for calls and text messaging. Compared to todays phones, it falls short of connectivity options such as x-HTML browsing and Java capabilities, but if you're not fussy about having entertaining options on the go, then this phone maybe for you. It fit's comfortably into any suit inside pocket, or even your trouser pocket. And with the vibrator alert mode, you are notified of incomming calls or messgaes without disturbing those ever important client meetings with garish ringtones. I did end up purchasing the 'Extended' battery to extend the T100's standby time, which on average, lasts around 4-5 days without phone use. Obviously, making calls or sending text messages, reduces the battery charge life to 2-3 days. Overall, this is an excellent and well balanced little phone. I've had to move on to newer models of late due to my personal requirements, but I'll not fault this phone in any way. It's been in my posession for over three years and has never been a problem. My only concern is the signal strength emmitted by such phones. If you use the phone during a single call for more than 4 minutes, you do feel your head getting warm, but I suppose this is the case with all phones. If you plan to upgrade from the T100, may I recommend the LG Shine.

IT LOOKS GOOD! BUT IVE GOT TO AGREE WITH MANY! WHEN IT COMES TO TEXTING, COMPARED TO THE NOKIA ITS RUBBISH! YOU CANT USE A DICTIONARY SO THEREFORE IT DOESNT REMEMBER TEXT (IN PREDICTIVE TEXT FORMAT) YOU CANT FIT AS MUCH TEXT IN AS WHAT YOU CAN IN A NOKIA! BUT THE PICTURE QUALITY IS SECOND TO NONE. AT THE END OF THE DAY ITS NOT AS USER FRIENDLY AS WHAT NOKIA IS!

A suberb flipper for thos who are not too bothered about IR or MMS. I have owned 21 mobiles from most manufacturers but the T100 represents the best value for money so far. The screen is large and crisp with the ability to download any bitmap image from the pc via the supplied software as a screen saver. Polyphonics are just as easy to add without the need to pay through the nose as with Nokias. Keyboard is well laid out and the keys are a sensilble size even for my builders fingers and both incomming and outgoing audio is far better than any other phone I\'ve owned or used. The menu navigation is clear, easy to follow and to the point without all the un-used toys that most manufacturers are trying to cram onto phones. I can usually squeeze three days out of the high capacity battery but I do make between 10 and 20 calls per day, I havn't used the standard battery so I can't comment on it's performance. I hve only one niggle about this handset and that is the speaker butt! on on the ypu left hand side. It doubles as an auto divertot for incomming calls, when pressed it diverts un-wanted calls to voicemail which is great, but .... When in a belt holster the only way to remove a ringing phone is to grip it between finger and thumb, it's a little too easy to press the button while removing the phone and diverting the call to voicemail before you know who is calling. Sure there are phones about with more bells and whistles and the T100 would not make a 15 year old drool but if you want a good, robust, compact, get on with it type of handset this is the one for me

How any of you can give this phone above 1 star is beyond me !!! THIS IS THE WORST PHONE I HAVE EVER HAD... i will never buy a samsung again its THAT BAD ! when you get the phone you revel in the excellent colour screen, groovy screensavers backgrounds and poly ringtunes... for that first week the phone should get a 4 star.. cause its c00l... then... you have to live with the phone day in day out. You quickly get bored of the screensavers and poly tunes so never use these features after the first week. The day to day functions are absolutley sh**e. the hpone can only hold a small amount of txts, you cant remove them all in one go, you cant save more then one number for each name in phone book, the battery low warning IS SO BAD cause the hpone turns off straight away.. probably from using so much power warning you about low power ! the sounds for txt alert and alarm are p00 and anoying after hearing them ONCE ! bah.. this phone is just soooo bad... luckily ive just ordered my new phone.. a Nokia.. stick with the best.. fook the rest !

i have had this phone for over a year now, and when i look at all the new ones being released, i am so beyond happy i got it. nokia's colours are still around 4000 and the samsungs were at 65k over a year and a half ago. apart from the colour however it has fantastic ringtones- very sharp and clear. i have had absolutely no problems with this phone and would recommed it to anyone who loves a sleek, sexy, reliable phone, with all the latest features. cheers.

This phone is small. That\'s about the only good thing that I can say about it. It\'s very slow when scrolling through the phone book and lacks some very basic, useful things. For example I\'ve yet to find a way to enter a phone number and save it straight away - instead I have to enter the number, call it, hang up, and then save the number now that it\'s in the list of recently called numbers! I find that really disappointing because it\'s just a software feature - there are no manufacturing or physcial constraints. As far as I can tell the people that programmed the phone never really used it, otherwise surely they would have spotted that lack? There are other things too, like that the text entry method seems to shift randomly from predictive to multi-tap in betweem writing text messages. Also, the one that I have has a fault where it just turns itself off (and yes, I do lock the keypad). It\'s already been with Phones4u for three weeks being \"fixed\" (they replaced the battery) but it came back still doing it. My brother has one too and as far as I know his doesn\'t switch itself off. It\'d take a lot for me to ever buy a SonyEricsson phone again - the T100 is just so poorly done. Cheers, Alastair

This is only the 3rd phone i've had, previous ones were nokia 7110 and ericsson ga628(or summit like that). The 7110 was cool cos of the matrix style slid lid, but they were both concrete blocks compared to this sleek, silver clam shape thing sat on my desk. The colour screen, made it ultra cool. Animated backgrounds. Polyphonic ringtones. The list goes on. The games are ok, but if it had java and a frame rate higher than 1fps(frames per second), it would have got all 5 stars from me.
