I have had Blackberrys, Iphones etc etc. So for a change I tried a Galaxy S2 after suffering with poor reception and e mail on an iPhone 4. Good. Great Screen very bright and clear (as good is iPhone4) Some free apps Good reception. Bad Weird push e mail for pop3 account. Could be laggy. Infuriating that contacts wouldnt sync with outlook and had to set up a gmail account and faff about. Battery life nothing to shout about. App store not as good as apple. In the end I couldnt live with the sync method and poor e mail integration on pop3 accounts. Im sure it will make a great phone for people who can get used to these things. For me Apple and blackberry have a more sorted interface than the android phones and that was the phones downfall. Back with the iphone 4 till the new blackberry comes out.

Great phone. If you're considering iphone4/5 and samsung galaxy s 2 - seriously - pick this phone: Pros: - massive dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (can be overclocked it the device is rooted), - Great screen (great colors, big viewing angle), - Plays flash contents without ANY hesitation, - tons of apps on android market, - lightweight and high battery power, - great intuitive music player (easy to manage a large library of music files), - integration with google services (gmail, g reader, g docs), - amazing 8MP camera, records and shoots 1080p videos/pictures, (also 2 or 3 MP front facing camera), - easy resource management (RAM, running aps, storage, etc.), - lot of useful sensors (gyroscope, light intensity sensor, capacitive touchscreen), - voice commands (texts, memos, calls, e-mails, etc.), - based on linux kernel (an immediate winner), - very fast and smooth web browsing experience, - wifi, bluetooth, gps, - useful gestures (pan, tilt, double tap, turn over + others), - very good virtual keyboard + swype, - long lasting battery (7hrs heavy usage or 4+ days idle), - many others, you have to give it a try, definitely worth the money, Cons: - build quality of some components may deter some users, - no ability to hotswap microSD cards, - limited storage of up to 32GB, - inability to save programs onto sd cards (although can be achived through rooting and flashing), In conclusion best smartphone on the market, even beats the ipad2 with the responsiveness and web browsing. RECOMMENDED!

My previous phone is the HTC HD2 on O2 (but Chucky firmwared). I looked at 3 phones: iPhone4, HTC Sensation, and the Samsung Galaxy S II on Three. I've been a HTC fan for the last 3-4 phone generations, since the SPV Windows Mobile handsets. The new HTC Sensation is a fantastic phone, but this S2 is just a cold killer. It's fast, and it has the most superior hardware. It gives a very clean sound on calls (much cleaner than HD2), even on 1 bar it sounds amazing. Without running much apps, and on the first full charge, with a little bit (maybe an hour or two worth of playing, wifi on, and blue-tooth mostly off); the phone lasted 3 days on one charge! I don't think I know ANY smart phone that can do that on the standard battery. Anyway - I've had it about a week, and I'm starting to load some apps on it; and sure enough; it's taking its toll on battery use, but it's still very impressive. I've also just discovered today, how impressive the voice recognition/c ontrol and speech synthesis is, and how it integrates with the Google navigation software, etc. I am just finding more to love about this phone, every day...and I've not managed to crash it yet, either. A very different experience to my first days with the HD2. I don't know whether that was down to Windows Mobile 6.5, or the HTC sense UI, but once I loaded my data on....the HD2 had many crashes, locks, freezes. Most went after flashing new firmware, but this SII seems to be a very mature User Interface experience, with no delays for anything, and no crashes (as yet). I will import all my data from the HD2 in the next few days, and then I'll have a fairer comparison to make. A fully loaded phone can be a different beastie...so we'll see; but my initial impressions for a non-modified/out-the-box mobile network/OEM configuration are very positive. Not seen anything this slick, since the early days of Nokia (when phones were still just phones). Oh, that reminds me of ano ther important thing; Smartphones - nearly all of them, in recent times - really struggle with making phone calls (or taking calls). This phone seems to take exception to that rule, and is INSTANT responsive for making and taking calls....I can't tell you what a shock that was (a positive shock though). If you're open minded and looking for a phone with beauty in both form AND function - I think you will find it very hard to find something more impressive, right now.

I am from South Africa on MTN contract. First Samsung Galaxy S II needs to be replaced due to network switched off all the time. Second one does the same. Is this a commen thing on Samsung GSII, or am I only unlucky. I am going to change the sim card, just to make sure. This sim card were fine on my previous phone. Features are great. Touch screen outstanding. Just the network thing, makes the phone unusable.

I am known to be extremely fussy whrn it comes to mobile phones. Always sending them back cause something wasn't right............ well....... that was until now...!! This phone surpasses any expectations that I had, and usually the reviews on here (mobile-phones-uk.org.uk) written by the admin are spot on. Everything about this phone is just superb. Speed, Ui, design, ease of use, fabulous camera, "Far better than that of the SE Arc". Video recording is second to none and I simply just love this phone. Feels fantastic in the hand and the light weight of the phone does not make it feel cheaqp like others have stated. The back of the phone cover is textured and sits firm in the hand. I am on the Talk Mobile Network for the first time and the signal is always almost full bars. Not dropped or lost any calls as yet, and boy, Talk Mobile gives you a fantastic deal too...!! Can't recommend this phone enough. If you want all the bells and whistles, then here you have them. Give it a try. You cannot be dissapointed. "5 EXTREMELY WELL DESERVED STARS FROM ME..!!"

Putting aside my concern that many of the reviews on this site appear to be generated by over-priced under skilled PR agencies acting for each brand of phone, I will offer my own objective view: Started with the Desire. Loved it, but the lag problem was terminal in countless models (7 or 8 from memory) that Vodafone sent out to me. A colleague in my office suffered the same thing and I assume millions of other have to. In the end they sent me a Desire HD. Terrific phone and practically perfect in every way. Only gripe was the Sat Nav - wouldn't find a satellite if one landed on the car and begged to offer directions. Always when I was late for a meeting!! Oh, nearly forgot, the battery was no great shakes either. So, here I am, a big HTC/Android fan and looking for an early upgrade. The Sensation is out, but so is the S2. I haven't got time for that old fashioned concept of visiting shops so weigh up the majority of online reviews and go for the Galaxy S2. This phone is flawless. It makes me wonder where can phone developers go now? You have everything. And it does everything perfectly. A few headline observations from a non-techie: the battery is good; I always charge it overnight but unlike all the other mobs mentioned it is still going strong when I do - 7am to 11pm; it is so slim and light and yet includes a spec list that beats every other phone on the planet - how do they do that?; it's reasonably priced - I've got it on £30 a month and handset free from Voda; the screen is a whopper and retina scorchingly bright. Unless a phone comes out that really does 'beam me up Scotty', I can't see how the Galaxy S2 can be beat. Have a good day Chris (under valued and over skilled PR Director not in the pocket of global bad boys)

Ok, Im on my second one now as the 1st one had motion problems, 2 finger zoom and widget movement didnt work properly..3G didn't work and loud echo when people phoned you with a case on it. Noise cancelation cured this.. Took it back and got another one as deemed as faulty. new one works perfectly 3G/motion the lot..upgraded from my 3GS. And not regretted it, Wife has an iphone4 and now wants to buy out of her contract lol..Trust me put a decent set of DJ headphones on this baby and play with the graphic eq and it sounds superb!! blows the ipod etc miles away.. And shut up about build quality the bezel is metal the outer casing is metal check around speaker etc! the only plastic bit is the battery cover. WOW big deal.. I think it looks stunning over my iphone.. Call quality now on the new one has no echo has been commented on by how good it sound by callers. sounds loud and crisp..live wallpapers are a breath of fresh air. Placed next to the iphone 4 the retina display looks washed out and colourless!! I thought 3gs was good for web browsing but DAMN! this is good..Apple has it on games for me as Android has to make middle of the line graphics to cater for all screen resolutions, but some HD games are creeping in.Makes the 3gs look like a ten year old device.. Had it 2 weeks now and being an Apple fan I have not regretted it..Don't see how apple will have an answer to this but they may de. but IOS5 sucks in features. But IOS is slightly more polished IMO. but not enough to stop me. hope this review helps

Had the phone a month now and traded up from an iphone 3gs, what a difference. it kicks hell out of the 3gs. The screen is absolutely ace and it is just as silky and responsive. the phone is very quick with a 1.2ghz dual core processor. The android Market although comprehensive doesn't have the quality of apps that the app store does.At least I dont have to buy a decent satnav app as the the operating system's google navigation is quite good. Another good thing is that I'm free of i tunes, what a half cocked piece of junk that is. The op. sys. is more involved than the iphone but it doesn't take long to get used to it. This phone is highly recommended and you will not regret having one.

As a long term IPhone/Apple Mac user I had recently had my fill of Apple telling me how my phone should look etc with its limited customization option and yes I know you can jailbreak etc but it's my phone and I shouldn't I have to, anyway long story short I have switched to Android and have had most of the good phones that have been released in the last couple of years starting with the Nexus moving onto the HTC Desire, then the Desire HD and now the S2. I have had no signal/Wifi/GPS issues and find this the best mobile I have used in a long time, yes there are things that are not great but all phones have things we would change if we could, is it better than an iPhone 4 I think so and I have both and its the S2 that get used most. Its a big chunk of cash if you buy sim free but for me it was a no brainer fantastic phone...

I was due an upgrade from the Samsung Jet and wanted to get an Android phone to access the app market. It was between the Galaxy S2 or HTC Desire S for me. My friend got the galaxy S2 and everything about it is amazing. I got it a week later on a great deal. £21.50 a month and a handset cost of £29 on O2. It is great in every aspect. Speed, camera, storage, wifi, data connections, gps and battery are all very good. The app market is good as well and most of the ones i will use are all free. If you are in 2 minds on what phone to get make it the Galaxy S2. I thought it would be too big for me but it is so light and the big screen is better for everything. Build quality is good with a hard plastic back and although I know some people prefer metal but i think its fine. Basically its the best phone on the market. Ive had no problems after 2 weeks and everyone I have shown it too is impressed and wants one.

But because I work much of my time from places where I am close to a router I have decided to accept this defect. However, I do wish they would fix it.

The Galaxy S2 is a great phone in many respects and all of the outstanding reviews pretty much sums it all up in all of the areas mentioned EXCEPT FOR AUDIO PLAYBACK. I, like some others like the idea of carrying an 'all-in-one' device and as a portable music player Samusng got the SGS2 wrong. The Yamaha DAC is not of the same caliber as the previous Galaxy S' Wolfsen DAC.(Search the net and you will see what I mean) I own quality sennheisser headphones and can say that treble and Mid Range seems to be good but bass (and the depth of sound overall) is definately lacking. I have owned the iphone 3GS and the iphone 4 in the past... and if music quality is important to you, then YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED with the SGS2. It's a shame really, for me Audio quality is a major factor (others will not use the device for their music playback in which case not an issue).. so for me its a fail. A shame really, because in all other departments it is truly a magical device

Out of the 4 phones that I have seen and tested, all 4 have screen yellow tint, aka mustard tint, on the left side from top to bottom. If you adjust your brightness level anyway from the minimum to the level just right above OK (the work OK on the OK button) then you will see the yellow tint most obviously. Pull down your status bar, blink your eyes a few times, or stare from left to right and then right to left across your screen. Be sure not to look at your screen under a bright light, not under any direct lighting from ceiling; see this from a darker room you will notice this. Out of the 4 phones all have different degree of brightness -- although all are adjusted the same level. Some have the tendency of producing blue-white, some are producing yellow-white. Of course the one with yellow-white gives you the brightest screen, but it also brings the yellow tint effect the most -- which is pretty annoying too -- this is the one I am using currently. The phone outruns any other products in the market because of its famous screen -- but now seems defective. I hope Samsung will address to this issue.

Honestly I think this is the best smartphone in the world at the moment. It's got more RAM and internal memory than a HTC Sensation, better form than an Evo 3D, and better in almost every way than an iPhone 4. Not to mention it's thinner and lighter than everything else around, and is very competitively priced. Most people worship iPhones, I laugh at them. I would highly recommend this phone to everyone.

REally love the new phone but it has had a few issues. Firstly it was receiving all my virgin.net email fine but it was disappearing in front of my eyes before I could read it, and deleting from the server!! BIG problem. CP Warehouse did a factory reset on a brand new hand set and it fixed the problem. My latest and really annoying glitch is that you can only type a medium length text message before the phone converts to MMS and then the receiver cannot read what has been written. I have tried changing setting to 'free' and have even installed Handcent text app but that does the same thing. I now have to type "..." and continue on a second message. Bit rubbish. I really liek the camera and the quality, size, screen res are all fab. I hardly ever seem to be able to get to data using 3G but wifi connection is perfect.

Ok so i got the s2 as my personal mobile after buying an omnia 7 for work use. After a few weeks of use i must admit im a bit disapointed. Yes gingerbread is very good on the s2 and yes it does have a pretty good office suit. The screen is amazing and its nice and fast and light in the hand. This is down to a personal thing ,so if your happy with your s2 then good on you as i can understand why. point 1 which is more of a minor point! The build quality is not very good at all. To me it has a real budget feel to it. My wife has the galaxy portal which seems to actually feels a bit better in the hand. I personally think they should have stuck to the same build quality as the galaxy s but with its current look. At least then it would still have more of a premium feel if only slightly heavier. Point 2 is the real beef with me. The battery!...... One word.... SHOCKING!.... I like to do a bit of IM, Facebook, some music and a few calls to friends. I would say im a medium t ype user and the most is im on the go. I get about 2 to 3 hours at the most. At this level of use i have to say that the omnia 7 is better. It does all the same stuff and has a large display aswell. I can get up to 12 hrs of medium use from the omnia 7. ive done everything on the s2 from switching off voice command to screen tint to power saving mode. It makes no real difference. My point is this. What use with all the many amazing bells and whistles its got if the battery lets it down. You cant use any phone if its not on right!. Feel mean to give it a lower score then most as the s2 does perform perfect... it never misses a beat. I like to feel i have value for money. I just dont see how they can go backwards in battery power and build quality on the s2 from even the galaxy s but certainly the omnia 7!. I have to say, for what i use a mobile for. The omnia 7 is a better device. Having said the though. Will the battery be so good after mango?

I have been using this phone for a week and I didn't expect it to be this good! I read all the reviews and was wondering if wifi would be a problem, but it is fine. I can even VPN into work and using a free app, Remote Desktop onto our servers which is mind blowing for a phone. Samsung have done and incredible job on this phone, I have multiple email accounts. The default email client works flawlessly with exchange and I can access ALL my outlook folders (not just inbox) I can view my home security cameras on there, voice search google, stream music to my car stereo over bluetooth, 16gb built in memory + up to 32gb microSD ... I could fill the rest of the page with how good it is. If you were thinking of getting a smartfone then this really is the one.

I love the fact that its light in weight, i had sony ericsson x10 before and i was going to the the sony ericsson arc but iam glad i waited for this phone. One of the problem i had with the x10 was the fact that it did not have a front camera for video calls and this phone does which i love! I know its early to say but i have not had any signal problems, also it does support pop3 as i was able to set up my hotmail account with no problems at all. Having an andriod phone help however i can't seem to be able to import my message and call log from my previous memeory card, been able to do my contact but not the rest....can some one please! help

Just like so many other reviews, I love the phone, but the signal is so bad that it looks as though I will have to return the second handset and cancel the contract. About half my calls cut out without warning, I get continual data connection errors, and the signal is poor even in the centre of Bristol. Such a shame, as the features are wonderful, but what is the point of a phone you can't use reliably?

I owned an iPhone 3GS for two years and fancied a change but wasnt sure where to go. Based on countless recommendations i chose the Galaxy S2 and i have never been more impressed by the sheer brilliance of this phone. Android is more of a personal feel than iOS. I can customise my different screens with so many different apps, widgets, shortcuts, folders etc than i ever could on my 3GS. The screen is just gorgeous. Its amazingly light and stylish and boy does it pack a punch. the 1.2Ghz dual core processor is fantastic. Get this phone. Dont wait for the iphone 5, it can compete.

Great phone really quick and fast in navigation. downloading is really fast and its really repsonsive could go into full details but there are plenty of reviews that do that.camera is great. Do not seem to have the signal and WIFI problems that some people seem to have, so rather than rate the phone 1 star get your phone sent back as its probably that one handset not the s2 on the whole. Battery life lasts just over a day with me on the KE2 firmware, would be interested to know whether it improves with firmware or android update or whether anyone can get better battery life. Oustanding phone!

The phone is excellent but the 3G is terrible. My network is 3, allegedly the best for 3G, and although the phone is good with my home WiFi out and about it's almost useless: the signal is weak, it drops all the time and the speed is slow. Other S2 users on other networks have experienced similar problems. The conclusion has to be that it's a hardware fault. Currently Samsung are pretending nothing's wrong, but you only have to see the messageboards to know the truth. I suspect they'll be forced to address the issue at some point due to thousands of complaints, but at time of writing, June 2011, I'd steer clear if 3G usage is important to you.

Got this amazing bit of technology yesterday and put it straight on full charge, used it since this morning and i can say the following = What a step up in mobile device and what a move for samsung and i believe they have truely single handly taken over from what was once the dull Iphone being top dog for so long - Galaxy S2 has Fantastic battery life had it on FULL brightness with GPS, Wifi switched on as well as switching between music player and iplayer for a good 2-3 hours. Battery life after 5hrs 30mins stands at 42% charge which is not bad considering it has not be switched of at all let alone on standby (this is continious non-stop use) The processor has not let me down once ever so smooth and fast - internet is like using broadband - sound is clear and LOUD - as for the Super AmoLed screen, erm well what can i say its Fantastic no no its Brilliant nono its Excellent NOOO words just do not do justice for a screen like this - yes it may not have the resolution of the Iphone4 but it makes the Iphone screen look stupid All in all this is an outstanding phone - firmware 2.3 gingerbread is amazing - cant fault the phone one bit Boys and Girls you wont regret buying this step away from the Iphone that limits users in so many ways and step into the relam of the Samsung Galaxy S2

A couple of points though, NFC is only available on handsets in some markets afaik, check you are definately getting it if it's a deal breaker, also you will need an MHL adaptor cable for TV out, Amazon have the official Samsung ones here in the UK for about 20 quid.

The voice controls are really impressive - although its a bit daft having to unlock the screen to be able to use the voice controls. Sadly, the battery life really isnt impressive at all. Im constantly closing apps down, making sure programs arent running in the background that arent being used, and im lucky if i get 9hours of above-average use. I will admit that i am sometimes in areas of poor signal. Also, mine has just packed up after having it for 3weeks, going to take it to the store to find out whats wrong with it. No doubt its great phone, but I had an issue which I couldn't ignore. The first piece that I got was heating up around the Ear Piece so it was becoming difficult to talk. It would heat up within 2-3 minutes of my call and it was noticeably hot where I had to keep it away from my ear. The guy at the store told me that it could be this particular piece. The next one also had the same issue which even the Store guy agreed and took it back. I haven't got a refund yet but now I really want this phone but not sure if the Heating Issue is with everyone or I have been terribly Unlucky both the times. Anyone facing this problem as well??
