My wife has just bought an S2 and having used it for a few weeks she now wishes she had bought an Iphone and on comparing the two I have to agree with her. The iphone is just so much easier to use! With the S2, the process in sending a text seems longwinded, some of the apps that my wife bought on my iphone are not available, the signal is really poor indoors, struggles to reach 2 bars, the screen graphics in the text screen are just dull, doesn't seem to be able to let you buy music direct like you can on Iphone and the number of standard apps that you get, none of which you can get get rid of is ridiculous, most of them she will never use. Iphone a winner all round!! It was lucky to get 1 star!

Awesome Phone but fragile as a feather!!! It is very disappointing my device got a deep scratch on the glass screen with a fall from just half a feet. In a device where I have invested Rs. 31000 and knowing Samsung's reputation, it was least expected that a phone glass (which as per Samsung guidelines has Shockwave feature and gorilla glass) developing a scratch on the screen from just half a feet fall.

It is so fast, colours are so vibriant and the Kies air feature is fantastic! Touch Wiz interface is ok, HTC sense has alot more features but the android update to ice cream sandwich is due soon to breathe more life out of the S2. Anyone thinking twice in getting this phone, don`t. Get it now & you will not be disappointed!!

All in all a very nice phone with tons of spec, however, I am extremely disappointed with the poor wifi capabilities. Basically, the device decides when it wants to connect/not connect. My device will show as been connected to wifi but no access to the internet. I really do not understand what all tis is about. I can be stood right next to my wifi box and still only get one bar compared with full bar on previous android devices. 3G connectivity is obviously worse even in areas where signal strength is reportedly good. If it were not for those issues this would definitely be the phone of all phones!

I own a galaxy s2. It simply is an outstanding phone in terms of display and fast operation. The super amoled + screen is truly incredible both for stills and videos. Even for text it is really clear. The only complaint one can have is the general build quality which could have been better, especially the paper thin back cover. All in all this is the best smartphone in the market right now and is fully worth every buck spent on it.

Just upgraded to the S2 last week. So far the battery life has been horrendous. No indication that the battery was low (full icon) until it went dead. Recharged overnight and within an hour of taking out the charger it was down to 80%. Only activity was downloading an app from the market and two games of soduko. This was without making a single call. Bluetooth, wifi both off. My old phone got me 3g in my home. This one with 4g only gets me Edge. Other than the speed of the processor this is a step backwards.

The only (yes, only) thing I could think of to fault is the quality of apps compared to the app store, but that is an android problem, so it shouldn't effect your judgement of this phone... Apart from that it blows the iPhone 4(S) out of the water :)

However its not for me, dont get on with some of the menus although most are fairly straight forward to work through. The only real negative was the phone/internet signal which ket dropping plus some random conflict with WiFi hence its back to the provider and swap to IPhone.

Lovely big screen yeah, lots of aps yeah, beautiful display yeah, Now pair it up to a bluetooth headset, lock it and put the phone in your pocket, now try and make a call without touching the phone. Oops you can't! I called Samsung and they told me that you have to physically unlock the phone to make a call with a headset, kinda defeats the object when it's illegal to use a handset in the UK when your driving and I drive for a living! I also agree with some of the other reviews that the signal strength is poor at times. For me this device is a lot of things but it's not a phone because I can't make calls with it,probably ok if you work in an office or your a student but if you drive for a living avoid.

Best phone on the market at present in my opinion. The battery life is a massive improvement on my old "smart" phone which was the N97, and even though I believe its a smartphone issue, the lifetime of it is good enough after a few weeks of charging. I still think I prefer having a physical qwerty to a touchscreen. It's quite funny reading every 1/2 star comment on here. Every single one HAS to mention the iphone4 as the better phone as an alternative. It is a year older!!

I had to change my Blackberry for this one several months ago because of the corporate server issues. After about five months of exploration I can conclude that this telephone is a gimmick. Major flaws: 1. No buttons for call starting or ending - you have to drag you finger through the screen instead. It requires both hands and normally has to be tried several times when you on the move. 2. The touch-sensitive keyborad gives in my hands at least twice as many errors as the Blackberry one. 3. You cannot delete you emails on the phone without deleting them on the server!! At this point one should remove this phone from the shortlist. But this is not all 4. You cannot place a cursor in the text, instead you have to drag your finger through it with high imprecision and frustration. 5. You cannot make text selection, cut and paste. At least I have not been able to find out how to do that. 6. Roaming usually requires re-boot to function normally. In several cases, it took half a day to settle with local networks. 7. Emails deleted from the phone pop back until they are deleted on the server. 8. Once you have too many emails (which you cannot delete - see above), email refresh crashes and stops downloading further emails. Oh, there is one great advatage of this phone: you can go through photos with your finger(s), just as seen on TV!!! Kids must feel absolutely elated. Summary: This handset must be a nice gudget for toy-lovers but its basic functions are not suitable for business.

I am not so fortunate: I bought Samsung Galaxy S2 on 22 September. The phone is always heated up even when not in use, battery level kept depleting when not in use. I had to charge it several times a day.I had been spending quite a lot of time setting up - contacts, email, etc. Tomorrow I have to send to Samsung in Plaza Singapura for repairs. Will the problem be fixed straightaway? Do I have to erase all I have done? Will I be without a phone till it is fixed? While I was at Samsung phone collection centre in Tampines, there was another gentleman dropping off his Samsung Galaxy S2 - phone doesn't come on. Another customer was there for her daughter's Galaxy Tab - water inside. I do agree with reviews below that the phone is poorly made.

I just recently got the SSGS2 on contract. The best phone I have ever had. I do have a few issues with Wifi in my own home, but i over look that and I can use the data...while im out and about at for instance my boyfriends house, it connects perfectly fine. My apartment hates me, thats all haha. I love how sleek and slim and light the phone is. I have the White one so it looks even nicer :) The boyfriend is jealous because he has a HTC HD7 Windows Phone and much prefers mine. Gutted. Such a good choice that I have made. Don't think i'll ever get rid of this phone, I'm not a massive one for technology, so this is my little treat. Also found it very handy while in the car the other day, getting lost as you do...and I realised I had a sat nav on the phone (ours got stolen from the car the other week). Such a handy, pretty, awesome phone. Best choice I've made in a long time.

Lets kick off. Got my s2 a couple of weekd ago. Upgraded from HTC Desire after a few months of use. This phone has everything, fast and brilliant hardware, no lag at all, people complaining about this are either apple fanboyz or got unlucky with their device. First and foremost, huge amount of ram for app space (left HTC due to their less space as no gingerbread update coz of this problem and it looks like they still didnt learn). Future proof for droid updates to ice cream sandwich and scrsaming fast hardware makes sure of that. One way to explain my feeling is I have placed a hd movie on phone and I can seek forward/reverse with ZERO lag (even my i7 desktop stutters for a few seconds). Build quality is gr8, doesnt heat up. Samsung is not able to meet demand due to popularity. If I can ill give this beast 10 stars. Have a haapy day people :)

Unfortunately nobody tells you about camera/screen problems you could face if you're unlucky. Genuinely awful Wi-Fi range and weak reception. Or that the battery power drops faster than a knackered lift if you actually use it. Then there was the echo that everyone i rang on it got making conversations impossible.Seems if the phone is in any sort of case its even worse. Something to do with the noise reduction. *SERIOUSLY LOOK THIS UP* I never managed to make 1 call without having a 'What was that you said?' 'i can't hear you!' resulting in having to use my landline. I was gutted walking back into the shop with the phone after only 4 days..but if it don't do what its supposed to what good is it to me?. So, I took the plunge onto the S2, and presently I am so glad I did. 1st the not so good things: Battery life isnt great compared against the N86. A day and a half is about all you will get (but if you have a charger next to your bed like me its not an issue really) .. Wi-fi: The range isn't as good as the Nokias I have had in the past but works very quickly when connected. Apps: Loads of apps preloaded which is good in a way but I won't use 25% of them and you cannot remove them :-( Loads of new ones available though :-) Good stuff: Maps: Awesome - ditched my SatNav and bought a proper cradle for my S2. Screen display is great and a nice size. Screen: Incredible - resolution is out of this world and very sensitive when using. Superb. Speed: You need to use this thing for a while to appreciate how fast it is. You can throw it from screen to screen to screen to app's and back effortlessly and there is no lag. The only lag is when loading big app's but its still faster than the N86....Its amazing... Size: Big but beautiful. Very slim, and despite what people say it doesn't feel like the back is going to fall off. Its extremely light too. Memory: 1Gb of RAM and 16Gb of storage as STANDARD !! LOADS of space !!! Menu's: Childs play. Very very easy indeed. Overall: Bin your iphone (i tested one of those prior to getting the S2) or any idea's of buying one and get the S2. Its faster by a mile, its smarter, and pound for pound the better phone by a long way. Yes the brand isn't as strong as apple but there is no point having a phone you can't call people on !!(apple - you REALLY need to sort the issue on the IP4 for reception!!) If your contract is up, get one on order, TODAY !!

This device is much more than a phone. The sat nave is as good as to tom.In fact better using google talk just say where you want to go. When driving you can dictate text or email.I have A SONY T,V. At the press off a button i can stream my music through the tv to my hifi .I can sit in my bedroom and stream music into the living room. With the galaxy s2 you can connect 4 laptops to the SGS2 and use its single to connect your laptop to internet. You can stream music and vido from your pc to the galaxy and then to your tv. This phone better by far than iphone 4 .The samsung galaxy s2 best phone on the market.

Well, nice looking but no good for a business phone, far as I can see. It is more of a computer with ophone facilities than a phone with a computer.....most upsetting is Outlook synch - it does not synch directly with your computer outlook. The plan is that you keep all your outlook-type info with Google and synch between Google and the phone. Okay if you just have 20 contacts but execs have the whole company contacts list there -- 1000 contacts, some with the odd confidential note. So I don't want that flying around with Google. Alternative? Well, there is some 3rd party software you can buy and try and getthat working, but a state-of-the-art device like this should have all this onboard. Just hit an icon and if synchs with the outlook. Not set it up on computer, set it up on phone, and then synch...it is a 10min jobbie. My N70 Nokia was 4yrs old, but it was way more advanced on these matters. Maybe I need to see if I can switch to the Nokia smartphone. In short, it is a kiddy phone - good for YouTube and Twitter and surfing.... but the rest if dragging behind it.

This phone is really good although I would have been happier with an iPhone that had a bigger screen and was thinner. iOS is too polished to be ignored.

I love this phone, quite easy to use. Colours and graphics for games are amazing and the photo quality is great. One major downside for me is the size, its just far too big, as my iphone 4 friends keep reminding me.

Superb device - lightning fast, big but not too big and the best screen I've seen so far. P.S. The unknown artist bug mentioned in the comments can be fixed with the following free app: https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.gorgonloop.MediaFix&hl=en

I cannot help but voice my disappointment: First, with a phone that looks so nice but dies after one week, heating around the camera area. Second, frustrating not to have any response from so called Samsung reps. Wish I had read the review by Andy below. I believe the hype and got ripped.

The phone is great. However... I still see issues with it occaisionally locking up and the only way to reset is to remove battery! I'm onto my second phone now, as the first one got really - really hot while using the Latitude app for navigation and died. It was swapped out straight away but I have to keep original battery etc. The new one also gets quite hot when running anything processor hungry like the game 'Medieval Castle'. I do worry that its going to fail again as it took me ages to sort out all my contacts after coming over froma SonyEricson model. Its a nice phone, much lighter than iPhone and hence travels in my pants pockets quite well. BBC iplayer is good, but you get bery slight jerkiness or bounce in the playback and this is not down to data speeds. The swipe feature for text entry is really neat, but is annoyng until you get used to it. I can still txt faster with my old SE brick and I've been using the G2 for nearly 4 months. Charge can last for up to two days, but safeest to keep it topped up every day, otherwise it will die on you during that last minute important call! Overall, I like it - but would like to try the iPhone for a while to really compare the minor irritations.

I just love my sgs2! I was going to go for the sensation but changed my mind because of some bad reviews. I thought I would really miss htc sense as I love that UI, but touchwiz 4.0 is really well put together! I love live panel. This baby fly's it just does everything with eas I like other reviews have tried to max out the RAM and try to slow the phone down, but even with 15 apps open and multiple web windows running it refuses to give in, camera-BRILLIANT Video AMAZING, I bought the official metal mesh case and it cost £10 but it really makes the phone look and feel premium (which people were complaining was an issue). I like the phone without the case but it adds extra protection aswell as making the phone look more sleek. And the mesh helps keep it cool. Watching video is an absolute joy!! Colours are so nice and the screen.....well you need to see to believe. The volume through the loudspeaker is brilliant! CAn even hear my tunes when in a shower! No other phon e I've had could do this. DId I mention it's capabilities as a normal phone for calls is also great?!? I wonder how Samsung has pulled this all off in a slim light device! I am now converted to Samsung, I never thought I would use anything but an htc after using sense, It's already won the tech radar phone of the year award. I think there will be more trophies this year for the s2. Glad I made the right choice in the end.

My first smartphone and I have not got a clue how it works. My girlfriend's iPhone has masses of handy apps, but I can't work out how to download any of them. I am a technological dunce and tend to have friends rather than apps, but this seems a very difficult phone to figure out. Took me three hours to find the keypad bit. Also, the Internet connection seems a bit pants. I live in the City of London (purported to be the financial capital of the world), so you'd think connecting would be fairly easy. Meh. It texts and makes calls, I'll survive,

I don't get your obsession with constantly putting a downer on the iphone 4 in every top end smartphone review (apart from the fact that you gave the original iphone a glowing review & then backed down after being bombarded by abuse from thousands of chavs who'd never even seen it & have been too scared to give any subsequent iphone a good review without being extremely picky). I've played with the SGS & the SGS 2 & to be quite frank - for such high end phones they feel cheap. & the display was far crisper on the iphone 4. I agree that the technology in the SGS 2 is great. But for ease of use, polished looks & great build quality you can't beat the iphone 4 & iOS. Oh & I've never had a dropped call or any issue with reception on the iphone 4 & I live in Cornwall which is notoriously poor for reception. I had far more problems with my HTC legend which you failed to spot in your review.
