Features are all easy to use, the volume is fine and as for the camera, what are some people moaning about?? Try and remember, this is a phone you are using. Forget the fact that it has 5 megapixels, the fact that the images aren't great is down to the optics. If you want great photos then buy a camera. The battery is by far the best I've ever come across and does what Samsung says it does. A good, easy to use phone. As for being top heavy when the top is up!!! Get real. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Munirah on 03/07/2008 I've only just bought this phone 2 days ago and i'm quite disappointed in the quality of the camera, because of acknowledging the fact it is 5mp, i was expecting the camera to be brilliant but the settings never stay the same and the pictures are not that brilliant. The keypad is quite frustrating to handle with. The battery life lasts a long time and the music is quite good. It is very hard to find something in particular you want to activate for example- speaker phone. The phone is quite chunky but still is very stylish. It's not pocket size but it's good.a Signal is very hard to reach. I thought it was going to be an amazing phone but i guess it wasn't. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Autophrag on 24/06/2008 I got a G600 for my girlfriend, I have found 2 things I don't like about it........these are big things that you should know about before you consider buying one of these. 1) Games on the G600 are very slooooow. I installed a couple of identical Java games on both the G600 & my K800i. The games I installed were Lumines & Block Breaker Deluxe. The K800i plays both games extremely well, the G600 DOES NOT, it chugs along with a very jerky frame rate and hardly playable. I tried others with the same result, although it managed to play card games (Platinum Solitaire)faily well. 2) The camera, using max settings with auto everything in low light conditions, the photos are very grainy and slightly blurry, my K800i with it's 3.2mp camera makes far better job...everything pin sharp and only very slight graininess. In good light, the G600 is slightly better but still not a patch on the K800i. My girlfriend is highly disappointed with the camera as she initially had a high opinion of Samsung phones.....not any more. I'm getting her a Sony Ericsson camera phone as a replacement. There are other niggles that I have not addressed here, read the other posts for details. To sum it up, the G600 is a jack of all trades and by all means....master of none. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Lmmmmmm :D on 24/06/2008 I have had this phone since january & to be honest theirs no faults with it! Only downside to this is the camera but hey, not every phone needs a 5mp camera though, the camera is really pixelated & doesn't really look like a 5mp but it still is taking photos. The back of it is plastic which is my own fault as i dropped my bag and the phone back came of, its easily done it comes of quicky, and i stood on my bag causing it to crack. So i have now been backless. The phone has good & bad qualities but overall the phone is really good :)! has all the features i enjoy but the sharp corners is a definate no. This isn't very inpressive Samsung. I have never had a samsung phone in ages & i am impressed. Everyone is speaking about the loudspeaker & the music player, i have to turn mines down as it is to loud! Yous obviously haven't discovered the volume button :S ha. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Gav Owen on 16/06/2008 I upgraded from a Samsung D900 to the Samsung G600 a few months ago and have had NO PROBLEMS at all. . . it may not be as slim as the D900 (not far off though) but thats the only downside . . . The menu's are easy to use, WAP is a decent speed and the camera may not be N95 quality but it isnt that far off as people make out.... and if you want a 'perfect top quality style photo' then buy a 12mp digital camera to be frank. . . Also the N95 is massive compared to the G600. Also another thing ive noticed is that the 'Music Player' has a really loud volume range, much louder than the D900. The 'compose a message' menu has also changed from the D900 in the way that you put the reciepients number in first from the phonebook and then write the message - the rest is the same. In all the G600 has alot of features to offer and samsung has done a great job with it... you will always get things that people dont like on phones - mainly because they are so used to their old phones and find it hard to adjust to new things. If you are after a = Slim, Easy to use, Slider phone, with stylish looks then... My advice is to buy this phone, and give it a chance to grow on you - in that i mean, it shouldnt be compared to you're old phone (like alot of D900 ex-users do... I promise you it will be worth it. Thumbs Up Samsung and i'm looking forward to the next version. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by SpecialK on 16/06/2008 Very disappointed with my upgrade from the trusty D900. Have returned within 7 days of receipt. Although the phone looks far nicer and more up to date that my old phone, there are far too many annoyances to live with them for an 18mth contract: - Poor battery life - not as per spec - Really really slow at sending messages - Really hard to find then navigate the menu that allows you to change the ringtone/ring volume - you can program various profiles but don't much like this feature as it isn't flexible enough. - The network name cannot be moved from the top of the wallpaper - highly annoying. - Words added to predictive text dictionary drop away after a day or two - VERY VERY annoying - Only 4 message tones, which are really really bad, and still no facility to use own message tones - sorry but unacceptable when hoards of Samsumg users have complained about this on previous models yet it is worse with the G600 as the choice of pre-set message tones is even less than earlier models - what's that all about??? - Can't scroll between photo's so you effectively have to go back to the menu to look at the next photo - I received a large text message and it ended up splitting into 3 separate message inc. one MMS ??? - Can't put the cursor between the the last word and the full stop or inbetween () brackets - When using the drop down menu's, if you select back, you don't go back to the previous layer in the menu, but right back to the home page. Very annoying if you've selected wrong option. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by marie on 16/06/2008 Had a Sony Eeicsson K810i was fantastic phone, but got a bit bored with it. If your thinking of buying this phone beware!!! take note of all the negative comments and dont be fooled by the positive ones like i was. This phone sucks! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Jay on 15/06/2008 Great phone, although there are lots of limitations probably due to the K2 firmware. Espresso GUI shows incorrectly in my phone (no icon carousel), cannot use mp3s as message tones, 200 messages only can be stored and hard time browsing through pictures if saved in memory card (and very slow). Other people say that upgrade to L1 firmware will solve it. But here in the Philippines, there is only one Samsung Centre location in the entire country which offers that service for PHP1,000+ (or around GBP 11). Despite all these limitations, I still love my G600 coz it's thinner than my old Nokia 6630 and Motorola W156, looks good, so far it's much more stable than my 6630 (doesn't restart nor freeze) and is a refreshing break from a country riddled with Nokia phones. But then i started to use it more and more and found some flaws with it. Firstly, when you write a text, it doesent remember your own words that you use even constantly, which means everytime you come to use that slang word you have to imput it again and again, which is annoying, secondly iv had it for about a month now, just over and already it wont connect to the computer, so i now cant change music or take photos off. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Danny on 10/06/2008 I have had this phone for near 2 months now, and I still do love it to bits!! It's my first Samsung and I think my first high quailty price phone. For me, I have no PERSONAL issues with the phone. Alot of people are talking about the picture quailty, music player etc and are making issues out of nothing. This is a phone, people forget that! The basic needs of a phone is to work and make calls! As long as it can do the basics, then you are fine! Especially if it has a fantastic look as the G600, and whatever else comes with it that you can play with like camera and music player, is really a bonus. I think we can get carried away sometimes. I've read reviews where by the sounds of it, some people are put off just because the camera is not as good as an actualy camera! It's a phone, deal with it! Personally for me, I have had no probs with it. Battery like is good, music player to me is phenomally clear considering that it is not an actualy mp3 player and all the features the phones comes with, bluetooth headset, headphones, 1GB Memory etc it's a fantastic buy. All in all, I think the review upabove sums it up in the fact that the Samsung G600 is an all round fantastic phone! A very good quialty phone that Does the essentials and comes with extra toys that is actually a good quality considering that it is a PHONE! Really it's just a matter of taste to what people like, but as far as phone quality wise, it is one of the best, you shouldn't make a mistake if you buy one! Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Alex on 09/06/2008 This phone is shocking Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Jasmin on 07/06/2008 I purchased this samsung g600 a month ago thinking that it would be a fantastic phone, now after a few weeks I'm realising that it was not that best of my decisions. The Samsung's 5 megapixel camera is more like a 2 megapixel not good quality at all. The phone music player is all crackly and I had to purchase my earphones & USB cable seperatly. I have now got a new phone as I was not at all happy with the samsung, many people rate it an excellent phone but I disagree. Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Tyrin on 05/06/2008 I got the g600 a month ago and Im Very dissapointed with it, got the g800 and its is fantastic in comparison... Firstly I can't change the message tone which is really horrible, and when I save words while texting, 3 days down the line the words that I have saved are gone... The phone keeps one reseting when I connect to the internet... The camera is nothing like the g800, Im very dissapointed with the g600... Its not a worth while buy, although I live on my phone My battery lasts easily upto 4 days which is an upside, but I would not recomend it to anyone... Sorry samsung but you need to think further, you've set a standard with your previous phones and you should go forwards with your technology, not backwards, and unfortunately with the g600 you have gone backwards and dissapointed thousands of consumers... Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Tyler Frankling on 05/06/2008 I got this phone after a Nokia, brillaint phone very customizable. And at first I didn't really like the G600, but after you start playing about with the settings, it is a good phone, it doesn't have any buttons which are hard to press or the smallest pressure applied that they jumped back 2 menus. The sound quality is brillaint, the music from my phone through 2.1 speakers sounds alot better than my laptop going through the same speakers. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Elliot on 02/06/2008 One of the best phones i have had for ages,IGNORE all bad reviews of this phone it is THE BEST.. and they are just over exadurating Love this phone it is a MUST BUY Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Eloise on 01/06/2008 When i picked up this phone i was thoroughly excited, especially as previously i had had the obismal LG chocolate before hand i did absolutley love it at first. I especially love the feature which allows you to make your own backgrounds. However, after nearly a year with it i am beggining to get ridiculosly irrated by the flaws in this phone and im currently trying to haggle with companies to give me an upgrade. Possibly the most annoying thing about this phone is the fact that when i send a message i have to keep the slider up FOR AGES until the message has sent through. Imagine a loading bar on a game, however just to send a text and god forbid when i send a 10 page text it literally takes about a year to go through. It is SO annoying. The camera, although isnt TOO bad i still dont think its as good as i anticipated on the basis that its 5 mega pixels. I really wish i'd gone for a sony ericcson and i am definatley going to get one next time i get a new phone. The predictive text is SO annoying aswell. I swear it never ever saves words for long enough and i constantly end up having to add them back in. It is so frustrating. I have also now got to the point where i am texting too fast for the phone to pick up and although i am a fast texter it keeps missing out words or getting confused. It is also really annoying becasue it turns itself off so much! So although i dont think its a totally appalling phone, i dont think its worth your 'outstanding' rating that you have given it as the flaws it has, although small are dreadfully annoying! You can only chose 1 of 5 txt message alerts. If you want one of your own wallpapers then it always comes up with a big grey box around the outside. But still, the MP3 is as good as my old dedicated one if I use my sony earphones maybe better! The camera is perfectly good for A5 prints (why would you want better?? Buy a REAL camera if you want BIG prints!) the build quality is also pretty damn good! I know there are other phones with better features, but in this size package...I think now. Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by jason on 26/05/2008 rubbish phone. the predictive text is irritating, there isn't even an option of adding brackets into texts, its too heavy at the top when you open it up so u need to hold the phone in your elft hand while to text with the right hand. My first and last samsung Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Philippa on 25/05/2008 Personally, it's driving me crazy! I thought it was great at first but it's getting worse and worse in my eyes. I like the camera, and yes it looks good but the phone is TERRIBLE at transfering files, once you put them onto your computer you CANNOT edit them using any program other than the AWEFUL software you are supplied with. I can't even drag it into PS. CS3 to edit the image! I like the style of the phone and everything but it's the little things that really annoy me. Including the terrible reception! I used to have a Nokia N76 which had an aweful camera and broke twice in 3 weeks but I would honestly go back to it if I could, the software and characteristics of the phone were brilliant. My whole reason for going back to samsung after my D500 & N76 was for the camera. And I can't even use the pictures I take with it properly! Sorry G600. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Steven on 23/05/2008 G600? Hate it! The camera is poor, even ignoring the weak flash. It has a shutter lag of upto 3 seconds if you try to run it at the full 5 megapixels, so what's the point of pitching it as one. There are only 4, built-in text message tones (all rubbish) and Samsungs will not handle WAV files like SE or Nokia. Damn annoying bing-bong noise every time you do something, and no mention in the handbook as to how you can switch them off. The T9 predictive text has some bizarre ideas; if i am writing a text and press the shift key, i want to capitalise the next word, i don't want numbers. And if i want to add a new word, why would i want it in all upper case??. The menu structure is long-winded, and you have to use multiple button presses to access fundamental things like the text message inbox. The supplied USB cable is nice, but the software is NOT compatible with Vista!! You cannot buy a PC these days without Vista, but apparently no-one has yet told Samsung. So i cannot back up my contacts, save my photos (when i manage to take a half-decent one) or add new themes or ringtones. NO VOICE DIAL! I'll say that again. NO VOICE DIAL!! I've had voice dial on every phone since i got an Ericcson T28 nearly ten years ago. This means i cannot (legally) initiate a call whilst driving. You might want to check recent UK legislation if you own a G600. In summary, after years of using Sony-Ericcsons and Nokias i though i'd try something different. Won't be making that mistake again. The camera doesn't seem to be anything special, not for a supposed 5.0mp anyway. When you're texting, the T9 dictionary allows you to add words but after a few days they seem to have disappeared and you have to add them again. Very frustrating. I got the Samsung G600 after being told that i could be bought out of my 18 month contract. After 6 months of an 18 month contract, i wish that i'd stuck it out with my trusty sony ericsson. The Samsung G600 is bad in a number of ways: firstly it doesnt let you store more than 200 texts on your phone - on my sony ericsson, i can store over 1000! Also, when you are sending a message, you have to remember to not slide the phone down, or else it will cancel the message being sent, and put it in your outbox. Secondly, when i scroll though various menus in the phone, such as pictures, the phone freezes, talking ages to scroll through a few photos. Also, if you want to see all photos, you have to individually open and close them - which can also take a while. This brings me nicely onto my next point: although the phone comes with a 1gb memory card, its rubbish. The phone's memory is really poor which means that you can't store much of anything on it. Every time you want to send something to your phone, but your phone's memory is full, it asks you if you want to save it to your memory card. It would be ok if you could set it to save things defult on your memory card, but this is not the case. When you get to this stage, as i have, the phone gets realy slow at operating. The camera is supposed to be 5MP - my sony ericssons 3.2 mp camera was better. The bluetooth on my g600 is extremely tempremental - most times i wish to send things from my laptop to my phone, or from another phone to my phone, it won't be picked up. When it is picked up, it doesn't last long. As for message tones...well, what can i say? You will have to settle for one of the default tones. The phone restricts you to sending a message to only 10 people at a time - extremely annoying and time consuming if you want to contact everyone in your phone book. Also, when your phone'e battery is low, its like your phone shuts down - you cant play games, change your profile settings, take pictures, record videos or sounds or play music. I first found this out when i was at a Kaiser Chief's concert, a month after i got the phone. My battery went low and i couldn't even take one measley photo. The slide mechanism is not too good. After 6 months, my phone looks like that it will completely slide apart. Overall, i am pretty disappointed with this phone: i wanted a slide phone, to make a change from the candy bar and flip phones that i have previously had. I can honestly say that the only thing that i like about the phone is that it is realy slim. You can also create your own themes, using downloaded images, or images that you have taken using the phone's camera. As i am a keen Orlando Bloom fan, putting images of him in a theme is one big bonus!!! However, I should have waited. I will be continuing to use my Sony Ericsson K800i and ditch this one. I can't wait until July when i can be brought out of this contract. This was my first Samsung, and for the very distant future, will be my last. It was put me off of samsungs and slide phones for life. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Kelly Garrett on 28/04/2008 The Samsung G600 is the worse phone I've ever had and i regret ever buying it.
