Ok I have to admit I never listened to the bad reviews of this phone.I wish I did! I thought this was a sleek pink, and cheap device worth a go. So I got one for my birthday. Boy was I wrong! It may be nice looking but will you have to make a lot of changes to like this. First you may just never want to turn it on because the battery is awful. I keep my screen on lowest setting, and the haptic feedback off and it still dies on me in a day or two. I have to charge it every day. and it doesnt even indicate when it will die. It may just die when it feels like it, thanks samsung. Well done for making a rubbish phone for reliability! This is my first samsung after finally finishing the sony ericsson marathon for a change and it looks like the biggest mistake I ever made. Texting is bad too when I realised there is no qwerty keypad to text! The silly layout makes texting a pain and I am a heavy texter. On the plus side music is excellent on this phone and the camera quali ty is better than I expected but average video at 15fps. Overall it is pretty nice to look at but dont buy it even if it is cheap. I moved back to my k610im and I dont know why I didnt sooner. Million times better

The samsung tocco is a pretty good phone. The touch screen works very well and is very reponsive, The camera is okaii but for a 5 megapixals i thought it was rather poor compared to my last phone (LG Viewty) The widget menu is great and gives easy acess to the internet. The Phone is slim and very stylish and fits great in the pocket or hand. The big problem is the fact that the phone always drops calls which can be very frustrating. However the Samsung Tocco is a pretty good phone but there are better phones out there but i still think it deseves 4 stars :)

Amazing phone. I liked it the most even though there are certain drawbacks like you cannot find the incoming number whether it is from home/mobile/office when you have stored all numbers in a particular address book entry, you cannot name the camera files as per the date format etc. Also for the common man it is difficult to operate. But for tech savvys it is a feast :-) Overall best phone in that price segment.

You can also listen to music and maybe send a text at the same times something that a Sony Ericsson would do and some samsung's. Texting is slightly like QWERTY phones if you turn it side ways! I love this phone the best i have ever owned. It was worth the money! :)

This phone has been really good for me. It has a good battery, which before I got my phone on the internet, seemed to last a week sometimes, lasts a fair while even browsing the net. The only big issue I have with this phone is that it doesn't have WIFI, if it did I would be happy to keep it and not bother upgrading. Apart from that, the only other issue I have with it is the flash on the camera, it is not very good, in the dark it is too bright and everyone squints and still the picture is low quality and is very dark. However the camera is excellent in natural light especially a sunny day. Touch screen is good, I have chosen the cover with the leather flap, a couple of friends have the same phone but did not use the cover with the leather flap and both have said the touch screens are temperamental, so I think it's best to keep the screen protected.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! It constantly freezes, so much now that I can't actually use it. It flips between screens constantly on its own and you have to take the battery out to reset it. The battery life is terrible too, one long phone call and it gives up. It also has many features that you can't personalise despite it being marketed with that point! Don't bother with the Samsung, if you do, make sure you get phone insurance!

Took it back to carphone warehouse -was sent away. When returned seemed ok for a few weeks then started cutting me off again. All in all this phone has been sent back at least 3 times - the last it had new softwear. Better but still loses signal or cuts me off at times.Never any trouble with my old Nokia when using as back up. My (rather accident prone)daughter has had one of these for 11 months now and it's still going strong (the leather flip over case and a mirror screen protector have helped this. I can honestly say that it has had no problems whatsoever and my superfast texting daughter has had no problems adapting to a touchscreen text experience. She uses it as her camera, music player and general communications device and is very happy with it. I guess you can be lucky or unlucky with any phone and her example of the Tocco has been exemplerary. So it has to be 5 stars.

I had, and still have the Samsung B3310 - quirkly little thing it is - as a bit of an intro to Samsung in readiness for renewing my contract (this being a whole five months away). I've had my Tocco as a birthday prezzie after getting through six, yes SIX Sony E's of two diffent models owing to the ongoing saga with them. I can honestly say I wish I would have gone to over to them sooner. Faultless, so far anyway. And if all I will have to worry about is the dropping of phone calls then big deal! I have a phone that I can use, inside my house, I have internet access whilst sitting and watching TV and not having to go outside, its a little gem, and so what if it is not all singing all dancing, you can add what you like to it and make it your own. Highly recommended!

One thing i will mention is that when your answering the phone its abit tricky with the touch screen and i constantly hang up on people because of it. also texting is a bit fiddly at times. the internet is average, nothing great. but the camera is brilliant quality! so if your a camera phone person, the tocco is a great choice. recently the lock has been causing me abit of trouble. it has a mind of its own. the battery life is appauling. a need to charge it almost every day.no games really - had to download my own. cant really customise it. the widget is great though , but if you get the phone on orange then the widget is different and limited, so i dont reccommend orange for this phone. bluetoooth - 5/5 fantastic. hope this helped.

Given this as a contract renewal, despite fishing for a nokia N-90-something. Works well enough and the interface is pretty good for most things, and very nice for scrolling web pages but it also haas some crippling problems; texting is very difficult and slow IMHO (I have big fingers) and apps that don't support touch screen have to be content with some cramped onscreen direction buttons. The USB connection is also an issue, it'll claim to be charging on USB but it infact won't have charged unless you select one of the connection options, despite showing the battery charging animation. More than once have I let it sit on the desk for 8 hours "charging" only to find the battery on the verge of collapse. It also won't allow you to connect to the PC while bluetooth is enabled, so you must manually navigate the menus to disable blue tooth and then re-enable it again when your done. I've also found that USB file transfer is sometimes cripplingly slow, although this may not be the fault of the device. All in all id say it's a fine phone, it's not too slow and the touch works well for most things. However if your a fan of txting, or like to charge things from USB then this phone is just infuriating.

After approx 3 days of downloading the PC Studio software, uninstalling and then reinstalling the phone is going back to the retailer as the phone simply refuses to talk to the computer. Both recognise each other USB and Bluetooth but they won't connect. Samsung advised this is a common problem and have actually now said via their forum that I should return it to the retailer. Gutted as I really like the phone but now I need to find an alternative phone I'm not going to take the risk that I will have the same problem with a replacement. Texting is difficult due to the touch screen. The PC studio won't recognise the phone connection so I can't upload any of my photos. First of all, i've not had any problems with the call quality of the phone. My main complaints lie with the phones inability to hold a large amount of messages before your inbox needs to be deleted. It'll take 200 messages, which if you're like me need to save some messages, means that its a major inconvienence. My second qualm is the absolutely rubbish battery life. In the real world for me it will last at most two days, using the original battery and a replacement. I currently carry a spare charged battery because of the rubbish battery life. Avoid.

I have had this Phone for 18 months now, so far it has been dropped in puddles, sat on and run over buy a car, I must admit my clumsy self will put any phone to the test and this is the only one phone so far that has survived. This phone still works perfectly even after a quick spin in the tumble dryer (please do not test these out yourself just take my word for it). This definaly the best phone I have had up to date. When I first got the phone I did have dropped calls but that was due to calling from an area with no signal not due to the phone its self, the screen its self is much easier to use then many other screens as you do not have to press the screen it is as it says on the box a touch!!! My firend has the phone and did have trouble once with the phone stuck taking pictures but to be honest it was for five mins and it was good fun, I have never seen so many pictures taken of the inside of a bag. It has not done this before or since and we believe it was due t o using it in the rain without cover. All in all I would say this phone has converted my to Samsung for good!! Even after the pervious slide phone which I did manage to break by dropping in wine glasses, it turns out I may like to have a drink when I go out but my phone definalty does not. I hope everyone else has as much fun as I have with this phone.

I am coming up to 12 months into my 18 month contract & cannot wait to upgrade. I chose this phone on the basis that it was smaller & easier to get used to than the I-Phone. I wish i hadn't now. As with all Samsungs the selection of ring tones and message tones are limited and took me ages to find out how i could change the message tone. I have found the screen freezes a lot of the time, the middle menu button chose to work of its own accord, sometimes not working for days on end then miraculously one day would suddenly work again. When sending a text message with the keyboard being so small it can be a bit tricky to text if in a hurry and sometimes the buttons would do something completely different to what was requested. Pressing the 1 button to get a full stop would sometimes cancel the message all together & i would have to start over. Also have had issue with the Phone calls dropping out after a few seconds or minutes, at first thought it was a network problem but have not had issues before with previous phones & seems to have occurred with a lot of the phones reading other reviews. I have even been put off the I-Phone purely because of the Touch Screen because of this phone. Am looking forward to bringing back buttons when i can finally upgrade!

Had this phone for a few months now - originally LOVED it but the novelty has now worn off :( The touch screen is not bad, but it can be a bit hit and miss. Did I touch that button?? No, I dont think I did, I'll do it again - oh no I did and now I have that letter twice!!! Very frustrating and much slower than the traditional keyboard, and no I dont have sausage fingers :) For me, customisation is the biggest draw and samsung are quite good at that. You can have different images for all your contacts, along with different ringtones and even different message alert tones - I like that. But you cant use your own image for the standby/idle/wallpaper??? whats that all about. I could do that on the phone I had years ago!! I live in a very poor reception area and according to the reception icon, I had no signal!! But I always have had (go figure). The camera's ok, but I'd rather use my sony compact digi camera. The music sounds rubbish through its own speakers (obv iously) but acceptable through headphones, but I'd rather use my ipod. The widgets were fun, but seem pointless now. Oh and the volumne is too low - as ever. Oh and another thing, the software supplied doesnt seem to be able to communicate with this model - what good is that???

It is hard to text unless you have very little dainty fingers and the camera, although 5mp is not good at all. Not impressed at all and have gone back to using my old old old Nokia phone to make phone calls and to send texts - it's so much easier!

Got an F480, and two/three weeks after buying, others can't hear me during calls (they complain that there is noise, however I can hear them). During a call, after 2-3 minutes speaking, an interference-like noise won't let others hear me (next calls will also have noise). The touch screen is hard to use at first (though you can get used to it), it's a little bit over-sensitive. SMSing is a pain (no querty keyboard!! it's difficult to press the right number every time). Music/video/radio players are ok. The camera quality is good when the subject is lit up (don't rely on the LED flash, except for the nearest targets) and has a lot of interesting features (panorama auto-shot, face detection, etc.). Screen resolution and image quality are good. Conclussion: a quite nice media player, but not being able to use it as a phone is annoying (I wanted a phone, not an iPop-less-like device).

Don't buy this phone. I've made a serious error of judgement in signing up for 18 months and I'm desparately trying to return it to Orange Retail. 1. The Touch screen is unworkable, when you first touch the screen to scroll down the options it actually selects the option where you start and then when you take your finger off it selects that too! The most common button I've pressed so far is back/cancel - not good. 2. It seems like you have to press slightly above the icon on the screen to hit the right key. It's taking 5 times as long to type a text as it did on my trusty Sony Ericsson. 3. Althought the Network coverage indicates Full Coverage I have to stand by my front bedroom window to actually send a text. Soemthing that never happened with my Sony. 4. The voice quaility is as poor as i've experienced on a modern handset. Any would be 'crank callers' should buy this phone to disguise their own voice. 5. The battery life is very poor and the low battery indicator seem very last minute.com. I could live with this but seeing as i'm on a rant i thought i'd throw it in the mixer! Just to show it's not all hard feelings the camera looks good and browsing seems fine. My SIM is back in the old Sony and I now need to convince the Orange shop to exchange this peice of rubbish. Hopefully because it's within 7 days I'll have success.

The widgets make getting where you want to get to alot quicker. Plus the phone looks amazingly sexy! I have the pink one and usualy get fed up with phones very quickly, this one I think is a stayer lol. The screen cover thing is a really good idea. My only criticism would be that is does not have the qwerty keyboard for texting but you quickly manage to overcome this if you stick it out! I've had this phone for 6 months now and I'm beginning to get to the point where I despise it. There are a number of problems with it. The good points about the phone: it looks good, the camera is decent (but the smile function is nothing more than a novelty and the response time from pressing the button to actually taking a picture is massive) and the music quality is good. That's about it. The bad points, where to begin? One thing I didn't notice at first but I'm now becoming increasingly aware of is the quality of calls and the amount of times a call will drop out during conversation. It happens most often when you are first answering a call and it will cut out and you will have to phone the caller back. Then it'll cut out again and again and so on until you get lucky after about 5 minutes of messing around and get a connection you can actually speak on. When you eventually do get to speak, the quality of the call is pretty bad, and I often have to ask people to repeat what they're saying because I can't understand a word. This isn't just a problem on my end - I constantly have people telling me that they can't hear me or that I keep breaking up. I have perfect reception in my house so that is not the problem. It's just the phone. Aside from that, texting is a nightmare. If like me you're one of those people who likes to text people whilst walking you will find it incredibly hard. Because you are on the move, the touch screen becomes a moving target and you often end up typing gobbledygook as you mistype something. The problem is that the touch screen buttons are far too small for the average finger or thumb, to the point where I have to use my little finger to get an accurate response from it. Scrolling down menus is hideous and you will spend hours trying to move from the top of a menu to the bottom, most evident in menus such as the alarm and the calendar. If you're making a call where you need to enter numbers during the call (e.g. when you're listening to your voicemail), it's very fiddly to get the touchscreen numbers on the screen - you have to press about three different buttons whilst speaking to just get the dialpad on screen. A small but still annoying point is the phone's screensaver whilst in hold mode. There are a selection of about 6 different images that the phone scrolls through whilst on screensaver mode, but you cannot change them. It'd be nice to be able to have pictures of your friends or family on there, but instead you're only allowed things like an abstract black image, or my personal favourite, a picture of a tarmac road. I bought this phone because I liked the idea of an iPhone but didn't want to sacrifice my iPod, and thought this was a good alternative - I was wrong. If you're thinking about buying this phone, seriously reconsider it. I'm now pleading with my phone company to try and get a different phone, I'm that desperate that I'm willing to pay to get out of my contract just so I can have a new phone. Avoid.

I was so looking forward to this phone, but its the worst one I've ever had! 'Unlocking' the phone can happen up to 10 seconds after I've pressed the button and the screens always freeze. Also, when the alarm goes off in the morning to wake me up it takes the phone so long to recognise I've pressed the button to turn the alarm off, which results in a very grumpy awakening. But worst of all is the the time it takes to connect when someone calls. When someone rings, I press the answer button, I then have to stand there waiting and watching the phone to wait for it to connect....while its still ringing. I've tested this and on average I have to wait 6 seconds. This may seem petty, but that means that if you don't get to the phone straight away, the other person has hung up before the phone recognises I've pressed the answer button. This results in me having to always phone people back all the time! Is it worth me trying to get a refund or a replacement phone? Is anyone else having the same problems? Good points are I find the texting easy, and don't have problems with signal like other people

I hated this phone. The reason: I used my previous phone mainly for sending text messages and as a notebook and to try and use the touch screen F480 quickly is nigh on impossible. Having big fingers doesn’t help and if you have similar large hands and fingers you'll find you'll be pressing more than one button at once on numerous occasions. Because it is predominately touch screen, the text message screen is broken into numerous pages for alphabet, numerical and symbol entry. Again touching more than one button can cause the screen to change from on to another completely interfering in simply writing a text message. Make no mistake, if you like sending text messages, don't buy this phone. I have given it to my wife and gone back to my good old Sony W850i.

All i can say about this phone is I love it! I've got the pink one and its very girly. I read reviews before i bought it (18 month contract on 3)and there were good and bad but i can honestly say i haven't come across any of the bad ones yet. I've had it for a week and use it constantly, the battery lasted me two days when i first got it which isn't bad as i was putting all my numbers in, sorting out my caller ID's ring tones and pics and adding text message alerts. (there are loads free at zedge)I did this without looking at the handbook so it must be easy if i've done it. Texting is easy, i haven't had any dropped calls and i find the volume fine. The camera is great too, best i have had on a phone. If you want more quality than this for a camera i suggest you buy a camera. All in all i would buy this phone all over again, its great.

Had this phone just over a week now and hate it. Camera is terrible quality and photos are easily blurred. Also when the phone is on silent and the battery is low the phone continues to make a beeping noise... the point of silent I ask?? Another complaint I have is that because my phone was assigned to the orange network the widgets are extremely boring in colour along with the backgrounds present on the phone. Last but not least another thing that bugs me about this phone is the touch screen... its slow, easy to press the wrong letter when typing a text and at the worst of times just doesn't work at all. Therefore unless you want to be extremely dissapointed I would stay clear of this phone. Going to try and take mine back tommorrow!!!

Also while on silent if the battery is low it continues to make a noise... the point of silent I ask?? The touch screen on this phone is also rubbish, with it not always registering my touch, also when typing a text it's so easy to touch the wrong key so texting can be a total mare. Last but not least even with full reception, when on the phone calls seem to dip in and out. Worst phone Ive ever had gettin a nokia n96 sent out tommorrow.

My last four phones have all been Sony Ericsson's. Unfortunately Sony haven't been forthcoming in producing a touch screen phone at a price I could afford, so I got the Samsug Tocco on the recommendation of a friend. I now wish I hadn't bothered. I love the size, weight and feel of this phone. The widget software is also good and the touch screen is very responsive. Thats all it's good points out of the way. When writing a tx it is so easy to miss a letter and be sent to the sending screen. Also if you hold down a letter to produce a number, it's fine until you want a zero, which disappears from the screen and you have to go to abc and select numerics. When selecting a name from the phone book, it will only scroll from a-z and won't go backwards, so you end up having to scroll all the way through your phonebook to get to who you want. The camera is rubbish if using the flash at close range, the picture is very foggy, but if you don't use the flash in dim situations, the picture is obviously too dark. When using the music player, I select a song I want it to start playing from on my play list and away it goes. No problem you may say, but if you stop it and then go to play it again the next time it starts from the same track you started listening to previously, whereas the Sony's will start from where you left off. The sound quality also isn't as good as the Sony. After going from Sony's for so long I decided to do the unmanly thing and use the user manual. It would have been useful to have had a manual that covered everything instead of having to work it out for myself. I switched on my phone this morning, only two months after receiving it and the screen transition between applications was incredibly slow. It wouldn't let me access to send messages and the scroll wouldn't work on the phone book. I've been in touch with my service provider and the phone has to go for repair, so I'm glad I kept my old Sony otherwise I wouldn't have a phone for a week or so. So in conclusion. Put Sony software into this hardware and it would be a cracking phone. As it stands, it's rubbish and I wouldn't recommend it.

I found the touch screen over sensitive. It kept flicking to other screens and I found it difficult to know where I was. I expected the widgets to be helpful but unfortunately they seem to have a life of their own appearing and disappearing annoyingly. It takes too many pushes to do simple operations and the menus are not intuitive enough. Sending texts is confusing and extreemly slow. The only thing I liked was the camera. It is flimsy build too and the leather cover is awkward. I sent it back for a Nokia 95, a large lump of a phone with buttons!

The catch is that you will see the birthday date just if it's in the same month and it will not shaw a date for the next 3 month for ex.. Love it, thanks Samsung. P.s. Don't get me wrong, this is a very snazzy phone. Everything on it is really sleek - the customizable "desktop" style background being an added bonus. The camera's a bit temperamental - it doesn't seem to want to work in dull or dark conditions, or even when the light's a little funny. Music sounds fine for me, but then again I'm not a big music-on-phone person: I have an mp3 player for that. I store all my stuff on a memory card, and when this is in it does make the phone slow down. Not so much that it would be a problem, just that I noticed how much quicker the phone worked when i took the card out. The voice quality also isn't great, especially if you actually want to be able to hear what the person on the other end is saying. The big problem has to be the intermittent fault that 99% of these seem to have. I'd had it a few months when it started happening - after 10-15 seconds of being in a call, the phone would drop the call. I would have to redial or wait for the person to phone back, confused as to why I'd hung up on them. I lived with it until it became too annoying. Dialaphone, all credit to them, supposedly repaired it with no fuss. After about a week of having it back again, it has the same problem again. After reading reviews on the internet of the phone, turns out it's not just me. It's pretty much everyone! So if you want to use your phone as a phone, then I wouldn't recommend it, and especially if you have high blood pressure. Otherwise, do it.

I have just upgraded my phone from the Samsung G600 to the Samsung Tocco and I am in love! PLUS POINTS: I find the call ringer volume to be amply loud enough and very clear. The touch screen is sensitive and responsive and very easy to use. I find text messaging fun and surprisingly quick, it did take abit of getting used to though, but all in all better than normal key pads for someone like me with arthritis of the hands. The MP3 player is excellent and crystal clear and unless you want to hear it the other side of the house, more than loud enough. Downloading from your PC to the phone is really easy via USB. Sending music, ringtones and pics via Bluetooth is also very easy and quick. The Menus are easy to use with plenty of options. MINUS POINTS: The only minus point I have found about this phone so far is the camera. It takes pretty clear pictures with its auto focus, but when using the flash the pictures have a very prominent blue tinge. However, I did not buy this phone for its camera, so am not put off by this at all. All in all I am very imressed with this phone and would certainly recommend it, especially to those who are Samsung fans. Well done Samsung!

The camera quality is fantastic, 5MP. for all those previous people have reviewed saying they cant take a non-blurry, thats not the fault of the phone, its the user. it works exactly the same as my FUJI digital camera, you hold the camera button down halfway until its focused, then push all the way in to take the perfect pic. i am used to this from my digi cam, but if you are not, i guess it could take getting used to. i love them style, the menu, the design, all very sexy and stylish =] some things you cant personalise...but i suppose it depends how much you want to personalise....not really sure about the leather case that comes with it, i mean sure it protects it, but when im calling someone its annoying having a leather flap in my face! than k god its removable! However, there are some fundamental things I don't like: 1) Phone keeps dropping calls. I have looked for a firmware upgrade to see if it is sorted now, but to no avail. 2) Quality of the sound is honestly rubbish in comparison to my previous Nokia 6280, it sounds like I'm talking to people down a broken wire all the time. 3) Contacts in the phone appear not to allow multiple numbers, i.e. home, mobile, work, etc. Instead I get multiple contact entries. To me these are pretty fundamental requirements of a phone, so at the moment I feel I have a rather poncy play thing rather than a reliable phone I might be able to count on when necessary.

Also on my old phone it was so loud and could hold alot of songs but this phone can only hold about 20 songs and also its extremely quiet. continuously, i use my phone all the time for texting but this phone only holds about 200 in the inbox so i have to delete my messgaes like everyday and i like having messages in my inbox, another problem with the messages is when you send a message you have to wait for the sending bar to go away so basically whilst its taking 20 seconds to send you have to wait and you can't do anything else. the touchscreen is just about right with the sensitivty but sometimes it has some weird types of freezes where it freezes in one point of the screen or won't let me touch one part unless i turn my phone off and then on again but apart from that the screen is good. i think this phone is average but i don't know if i will be able to put up with my contract with it for another year and a bit. personally, if i were you i wouldn't get this phone because it isn't as good as people in the shops say it is. This phone essentially is brilliant, very simple to use, good camera, good music player etc. However, I am now awaiting delivery of my third tocco handset, the first one i had problems with dropping calls, the second handset was originally fine, now after only a couple of months of having it, making calls is impossible, no one is able to hear what I am saying! i am a texter rather than a talker so this has not been due to overuse. Also another problem I found with this phone is that I can find no way to save texts onto the memory card, so it can be a pain deleting messages a number of times a day. Hopefully my third handset will be third time lucky, if not its bye bye tocco!

This phone is fantastic, texting is no problem at all; profile is easy and quick to change using the widget pull out section on the main screen; the ring tone is loud enough...unless you are hard of hearing; I don't have problems hearing my callers; my phone does not drop calls. My only gripe is I can't figure out how to cancel alarms once they've been set! Overall 6 months down the line I still think this phone is brilliant....but each to their own.

My well behaved tocco never caused me any grief at all. Only that its very basic on internet applications and explorers.what i think may be the problem can be the manufacturer allowing a mass amount of faulty engineered circuit boards mixed with good ones and assembled them assuming it wouldnt cause a great deal of problems, otherwise why will still some of us get ones which are not faulty at all then even upgrading the software the problem still persists. My doubts started when i brought a new simfree samsung soul and i experienced blurred images and the voice volume was always too low. Then when i brought this tocco a few months ago i realised the flash led of the soul had a shadowy dark blister which i thought was normal but when i compared it to the tocco the led flash was clear brilliant free of any dark brush up and i had no problems of blurry photos on the tocco which previously i had with the soul so the problem comes transparent probably samsung has a slag on quality control.

Reported the problem again and then was told that there was a software problem that was causing these two problems on the phone and that samsung were looking into it. The problem became so bad that on the 9th september i stopped using the Tocco and went back to my D900. After numerous calls to orange the problem is still not resolved and i still cannot use the Tocco. Unlike the LG Viewty, the tocco's touch screen operates easily and hassle free, where the viewty often had slow responses and problems with the touch. The customisable home screen is limited to a handful of shortcuts (THREE of them clocks) that Samsung see fit, and the file menus are convoluted and difficult to navigate. In short, if you buy this phone (and don't), you should never, ever use an iPhone; the starkness of difference in quality will break your heart. Overall, the phone is very pleasing to use especially with the widget feature, however you cannot add your own applications or settings on the widget menu. You can take items off but cannot add the internet,or bluetooth, messages, applications or video on this sidebar for quick access. The build quality is really excellent and the weight is advantageous for its size. It really helps to keep it in the hand with its strong metal build. Texting takes ages and sometimes scrolling and selecting can be a problem one handed. The Mp3 and radio are fab especially if you can get a 3.5mm adaptor (standard earphones OK but not as good as higher end pair),comes with equalizers, battery life is OK. The camera can deliver very good results if you use the right ISO settings. Higher ISO means more grainy images but faster shooting and brighter images. The LED flash is however not powerfull enough for this device. Its very compact and nice to hold and if you get it, you won't b e able to decide whether to keep it in the supplied case or on its own because it looks very nice either way. PDF documents take long to scroll through but web browsing is nice and quite fast. One thing I didn't like about this phone is that resources such as themes and applications are very limited. As for games I haven't got a clue. I am happy to have purchased this but I guess each person has their own choice of opinion on any matter whether good or not. So, nice phone from samsung, nice interface and good camera and music player. The rest is for you to decide.

People seem to have problems hearing me, and I also can't hear the people I'm talking with very well. Furthermore, I think it's very annoying that you can't see your pictures in a way that you can easily 'click' from one and another. The ONLY way you can come in such a modus is when you take a picture (the picture you've token comes automaticly in that modus). But in any other way (like going to your pictures in the main menu) you can't. I also think it's a shame that you can't see the picture of the one who's calling you very properly. Why don't they make them bigscreen?! And at last I think it's a pity that you can't change your wallpapers (into your own pictures for example) and that it's not possible to download ant software to change all of this things!! (Because it's not a symbian phone.., also not a windows..). The rest of the phone is good (that's why I rate it 3 stars). It looks beautifull and works fine.

Had this phone for a couple weeks now and am starting to find its weaknesses! The phone as a whole is really good; very easy to use and personalise. If you actually use any of the features the phone has to offer then you will find your battery bars vanishing very quickly... (if i send a few texts, make a few calls, listen to a bit of music and go on the internet briefly then my battery rarely makes it to the end of the day) My only other issue is the sound quality of phone calls. When someone calls me, I can't hear anything from them for the 1st 2-5 seconds of the call. And whether they have called you or you have called them, the volume of the call varies greatly to the point where you are straining to hear what they are saying, immediately followed by being deafened as the volume shoots up! But don't let this put you off unless you make a lot of phone calls. Everything else about the phone is very good. Good photo quality, fast downloads, texting takes a little getting used to but is quite easy. p.s. make sure you use the cover because the screen is SO EASY TO SCRATCH! p.p.s. I have returned my Tocco and am giving the Omnia a try instead!

Going to a specific number in your recent calls list is practically impossible. Saving a copy of an SMS you are sending is either on or off in the phone config, so it's no good setting it to off and then hoping to do a "save and send" like previous Samsungs, that's not an option. Texting is slow compared to keyed phones. Nice size and feel though and a decent camera. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed.

Also a nice bonus is that it gets rid of the operator branding (with the exception of the widget) so it appears pretty much like a sim free version would. With the call issue resolved its back to five stars for me!!

I'm happy to say that, after much hassle, I managed to send my Tocco back. The phone looks very nice and the touch screen is a treat. I was very pleased for the first 5 min of receiving it. However, when I tried the camera I was very disapointed with the quality for a 5mp camera. My 2 years old SE could take much better pictures. I was willing to overlook this and even decided to buy a separated digital camera. The turning point came when I started to use the phone main feature: making calls. Most of my calls dropped in the first seconds. I went back and exchange for another Tocco and had the same problems. From the nine days I had this phone I only had 3 successful calls. I had a look online and saw many people had the same problem. I decided to terminate my contract and I had a BIG trouble to do so. Today I am finally free and I dont have to be worried about being stuck with a phone that doesnt work during a 18 months contract. If you really want to buy it do at yo ur own risk. BTW I had the updated firmware.

Cons: -Touch screen not as good as iPhone. -Menus have many irritations (previously used a Motorola and Sony Ericsson) -Propriety headphone socket -Menus crap -Importing address book forces all entries to be Surname->Forename. -Camera worse than similar speced Nokia's and SonyE's -Feckin' menus! I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now and I love it! At first I found it a bit odd going from a Nokia Brick to a touch screen and the manual wasn't that helpful but part of the fun in this phone is exploring. Camera is great quality and when taking pics it feels more like digi-cam than a phone and I've not had any probs with the screen being sensitive during calls as the phone auto locks the touch screen. Music quality is fab and the expandable memory means I don't need my Ipod anymore! The widgets aren't as customisable as I'd have liked and There doesn't seem to be anyway of turning off the very annoying predictable text( Can anyone help with that???). Also it is unclear at first how to turn off the keypad volume whilst leaving the ringer alone but again a little exploring and all becomes clear. The only other major gripe is that you can only customise individual ringtones for contacts you save to the phone rather than to the SIM as well. (I like to keep contacts on the SIM in case the phone goes pants) I know this sounds like a list of gripes but they are more warnings than moans. If I can use this phone anyone can. Now all I have to do is sort out the rubbish signal I'm getting from T mobile!! (Orange was much better!)

Got the tocco yesterday and so far i really like it. i did have the old mototola razor which was 2 and a half years old and pretty recked so i suppose anything in comparison is good really but as far as i can go compareing it to other phones i have come across id say its pretty damned good. In comparison to the iphone its no where near as fun, with only one game from orange (and the 2 games ive downloaded are pretty pants)but its a good cheaper alternative and the touch screen works really effectively. Also in comparison with the LG Viewty its about the same attractiveness wise, but the scroll on it is BAD. i got so frustated trying to work it in the shop and even the sales assistant couldn't work it. Ive read reviews of people saying that the scroll jst takes a little practise and patience but that would be the first thing you would need to figure out before you can even play with it because u need the scroll feature for a lot of things and its jst annoying and such a major part of actually being able to use the phone that its jst stupid that its that hard. plus if u lend any1 your fone they wont be able to work it. The only niggle ive had to far is if ive rang say orange and they say press 1 if you want blah de blah because its a bit annoying having to get to number pad up and you have to actually look at the screen because you cant just feel the button. But other than that (which is a very minor niggle compared to the cost and availablity of the iphone and the damned scroll on the viewty, plus how many numbers do you ring with the whole number option thing appart from call centres) i havnt really come across anything. there are no games that have been created especially for the touch screen which is a little dispointing but i suppose i will have to give them time on that one. The camera is good quality, as is recordings, the memorys good, but that said i got a free 8GB memory card from orange so i dunno what its lik e without that. but all in all so far a really good fone, which is fun to use but lacks in the game department. Camera, speakers, etc all good and so far ive got no complaints!

Whoever think that one can only enter 15 characters in appointments, 100 characters in Memo, no alphabets in address's postcode is pure stupidity. Whatever I sync from Outlook looks ackward in the phone because of these limitations. Love those customising? Well, there's only 8 of them and some of them are pretty useless (Birthdays, Network info, games, two widgets of clocks etc). You can't add as you like. I like to see Bluetooth on/off or Memo or Appointment etc. It takes one second each to scroll down the song list. Imagine you have 500 songs. Doc viewer is a laugh - you can't scroll as intended. Bug? You can't work on your phone if you are connected to PC i.e. you can't check calendar, phonebook etc. You might like how it looks, but this phone is highly basic, and many features were done without thinking. I didn't touch on basic phone features as they are covered here. It makes me think of 1990s features for the 21st century.

This isn't an 'outstanding' phone. Live with it for a few days and you will soon see how poorly designed this thing is. There are very few user customisable features: for instance the 'widget' which is supposed to offer drag and drop shortcuts, but these are preset and very limited (time, dual clock, birthday reminders, network supplier!!, etc. ) I don't need these as shortcuts! This renders the 'widget' pretty much defunct. The camera is absolute rubbish. If your subject stays perfectly still in a cryogenically frozen state for 30 seconds you might get a reasonably blur-free picture. If not, the image you clicked on is light years away from the image you actually get. You can load as many gadgets on the camera as you like, but if your subject doesn't keep still for approx. 5-10 seconds it's all pointless. I really wanted to like this phone, but couldn't live with it. I even cancelled early and decided to go through the hassle of losing my number I've had for the la st 8 years than stay with this phone for the next 18 months. Buy it online so you can send it back within your cooling off period - it's just not what it promises, which is a real shame.

Had mine for a couple of weeks now and it's pretty much driving me nuts. When taking photos there seems to be a 3 second delay, which means taking "spur of the moment" shots or a quick pic of your pet looking at the camera are nearly impossible. Also, setting a shot you've taken as your screensaver is not exactly the easiest thing to do, as the edit function will edit the shot, but not necessarily save the changes. In addition to this, somehow it's impossible to get pictures the right way up as the rotate function flips one way, one way only and one time only. The quality, however, is EXCELLENT! No emoticons on text messages. What is THAT all about? I feel like I'm back to my Nokia 3210. The sound during calls is APPALLING! The sound is not at all clear and very tinny. Makes it quite hard to understand what the other person is saying. Indeed the worst ever out of all the phones I've owned or used over the last 10 years. The phone seems to decide to turn its functions on and off on a whim, which makes me wonder how many contacts its deleted during its moment of artificial intelligence. Such an example includes keypad tones materialising out of thin air. Not at all impressed with reception as this seems to be inconsistent and unreliable. I've had various text reports never arrive, despite knowing the text HAS arrived. I've also had plenty of voice mails and texts informing me people have called, yet the phone hasn't made a sound. Hmmmm..... and upon checking, it had signal apparently! Lovely phone, mediocre functions, rubbish if you need a reliable way of staying in touch via text and phone, but if you're after something that acts as a PDA and takes good photos (as long as nothing's moving in them), this is the phone for you. Bitterly disappointed at what could've been, with minimal refining, an outstanding handset.

I have had the Samsung Tocco now for a week and as a whole, its pretty sweet. Obviously, I have some nags with it. When moving the numbers from my old N95 to the Tocco, I had to transfer onto the memory card, then ONE by ONE register them to the Samsung phonebook, then delete them from the memory card - it took ages. I think the backplate with the screen cover on it was designed by a complete fool - it would have seemed better to place the cover over the top of the phone rather than have to hold it like a prat when texting - you'll understand if you have one. I notice that a few people have had issues with texting and using the touch screen, but it took 5 minutes to get used to and I've had no problems. The internet browser is pretty cool - but hard to get use if you have fat fingers! I'm not massively keen on the maximum volume, I'm half deaf and I don't always find it loud enough even on the top settings. I am loving the fact that you can set an MP3 as your text tone, as very few Samsung's allow you to do it. There are some great security features, what with being able to lock out almost the entire phone with password protection - good, if you have content on your phone, you'd rather the kids didnt see! The camera is pretty good and the quality rivals that of the N95. The phone book can be a bit of a pain, only 3 numbers are displayed on the screen at once and I am not happy with the amount of downloadable games that are available for it - very little from what I've seen so far and the onboard game is pathetic. However, with all the little nagging issues, I'm pretty happy with the upgrade - I'll would have been annoyed if I had paid for it as I feel it was more of a side-step than an UPgrade from the Nokia N95 - however, get it, see if you like it and make your own decision. Regret that I should have awaited the upcoming 8MP camera phones coming out soon... [Editor's comment: Andy, there's *always* something better coming out soon ...]

I've had the Samsung Tocco for 4 days now, I've had Samsungs for a few years now and generally I like them. My last phone was a Sony Ericsson and I HATED it, then it packed up like most Sony Ericssons so I returned to Samsung. On first impressions I like the phone, the touch screen is responsive, texting is dead easy and quick and the screen feedback is really good. It's compact and light, has a nifty option of a back with a built in screen cover (my iphone buddy is jealous of this bit alone!), basically a nice looking phone. I do have a few comments though; If you're a man with big hands forget it, the touch screen will drive you nuts it takes some perfecting to scroll without tapping something you didn't want! My boyfriend keeps complaining that the sound quality is rubbish when he calls me - I can hear him fine but he says he can't hear me properly...I shall test this by listening to his phone while he's on mine – will get back to you on this point! The bir thday feature is a bit useless unless you want to keep your contacts on the phone memory (which I don't from past experience with the Sony Ericsson fiasco) so you can't put in extra details when saving to the SIM..bit rubbish as I thought this was quite useful, but you could get round it by setting alarms for birthday reminders! The camera pic admitedly does look rubbish on the phone but think this is a memory saving trick they look fine when you download them...however if you want yr pics to look good on the phone probably wouldn't recommend it! The menu graphics look a bit cartoony, for such a slick looking phone the icons really look rubbish. Samsung should've made them a bit more stylish (minor point though), however the widgets look a bit better. I've not had the converstaion drop-outs that other people have experienced....fingers crossed I won't, I'm with T-mobile...it may be a network issue?!? Helen – re your question about deleting contacts you've texted...just go to the Sent folder in messages and delete them from there and to use the birthday feature you have to save the contact to the phone memory where it gives you more options as I mentioned previously. Hope that helps. All in all I like the phone, there are things that definitely let it down, there's no point in comparing it to the iphone...no contest...but as touch screens go it's the best out there. I would say it's defo more of a girls phone and wins style over substance but I'm happy with it for the time being...I'll change it in 12 months anyway and I'm sure there will be better ones out there by then, but it's not a bad phone by any means justtakes a bit of getting used to.

It means I'm struggling to hear people when I call or receive a call so on this front, it utterly fails at it's primary function. All the other features are actually pretty good. Camera quality is good, 3g is fast and the radio is a nice touch. However, if you're seriously thinking of getting this phone. I'd probably advise against it based purely on the volume issue.

dont be tempted by this phone, especially if you are with orange. ive just received my second replacement and it drops nearly every call. orange have told me they will send me a different phone next week but they have to wait for the 3rd phone to be faulty!!!!! what a nightmare!!! i wish i had gone with a sim only contract and stuck the sim in my old d500!!!!!

got 3 f480 phones on our business contact all showing the cutting off symptoms. this is a real annoying glitch which will make you want too launch your phone at a brick wall. any orange customers will be blagged by orange into thinking its some kind of network fault!!!!! Dont take any of it!........

I have had this phone for 5 days now, and it deserves the positive reviews it is getting. I have been a faithful SE fan and had been looking forward to upgrading my K800i to the new C902. However, I am partially sighted and the menus on the C902 are even smaller than my K800i rendering it useless for me. So, on to the F480, the phone is superb, very nicely made, call quality is very good and ring tone and earpiece volumes more than adequate (PROVIDED) you adjust them in the profiles. The menu system fonts are larger than most current mobiles, and text messages and Internet fonts can be zoomed to a very large size, ideal for people with visual disabilities, well done Samsung! Text messaging, the process takes a little getting used to, I found using my index finger rather than thumb made it easier, and it is pretty easy to access ABC and T9 txt. Listening to mp3s through the standard earphone is better than my partners ITouch! Camera quality is very good, once again provided you adjust everything to the maximum resolutions. The length of videos can also be adjusted, as default; it is set for sending via MMS. Mobile Internet speeds are also very fast indeed, plus the benefit of being able to zoom in or out on the pages. The only problems experienced so far are that I tried to install Operamini browser without success, and also tried to download a game, which also froze. Samsung provide two battery covers for the phone, one in the brushed metal finish, and another leather "wallet". I fitted the latter and it is very convenient, looks good and provides great protection for the phone and screen, one again, great design. My only criticism, is battery life, not what I am used to from Sony, but still seems to have lasted about 3 days so far, with lots of fiddling and exploring. I suppose with the size of the screen, shorter life is to be expected. As one or two other reviewers have said, I am also very picky, and research everything I buy, the Tocca has not disappointed and I would recommend you take a look at it.

I got this phone a few days ago as a free upgrade. The phone and all its features is amazing but the only down side i have found is that the speaker quality is rubbish when trying to hear someone you're calling/receiving a call from. Other than that it's a great phone with great features
