The battery at the beginning was brilliant i was playing it and it was still on for a week (now at least 3-4 days but i didnt change it and if i go abroad and dont use phone much it will stay for a week) The camera is very good but only during the day as flash is horrible to be honest. The phones software is simple however at the beginning i couldnt get used to that it doesnt have sortages and u have to go to menu everytime. the touch screen is really good and phone looks very posh. Well anyway I brought this phone on the 1st of October of last year and was a good phone when I had in my position such as a good screen, decent battery life for a touchscreen, nice looking phone, good camera during the daytime (horrible at night, nowhere near as my beloved Sony Ericsson k800i) and a decent music player. Many people have said that this phone is a pain to text with but for me it was just a matter of practice. However, during the 11th month period I notice that my f480i has started to develop minimal reception and was starting to not able to hear the person on the other line very well and will drop out the call eventually. To see if this was a fault with my sim card or my phone, I put the sim card into another phone and saw that I had full bar reception in the exact same area. Not only that I notice that this phone was starting to miss calls (i t will not ring just straight away to my voicemail) and I will receive txt message from people or ether an alert that I missed a call like 5-10min latter when they were sent. I also experience difficulty to hear the person on the other line even when I would be in the city. I was initially impressed with this phone that they fixed up many of the issue that I had with my Samsung d900i some years back such as the battery life, speaker, able to have custom ringtone; I even found texting better on the f480i then the d900i. I’ve sent to get it repaired 2 times and it’s still developing these faults which lead me having lost confident with this phone. And due to of these fault that I am expiring within my handset my network carrier offered to replace the handset with an lg optimus (only choice was between this or a nokia 6700 slide) which I am not confident with since every single new phone that I purchase within the last 2 years, I have not been impressed with and hav e developed some issue within less than a year of ownership. I am now using at time of writing another k800i which a friend gave to me for nothing to replace the k800i that I damaged and I have found it to work extremely better f480i and if my new coming lg optimus is also proven to be a dud, I will continue using the sony ericssson k800i until I am able to afford or find something that is a true replacement or until the k800i dies. I thought this phone was a great phone initially but this is coming to a conclusion that I will never purchase another Samsung phone again despite the chance I have given to Samsung along with Nokia phone as well since I had major issue in the past with nokia handset as well. I wouldn’t recommend this phone, especially long term. I agree with Tom below, you need pins for fingers to SMS with this. It takes so long that I have resorted to actually calling people to say 'OK' and 'Sounds good' because I'd rather not punish myself by using the amazingly bad SMS functions. Another ridiculous thing about this phone is how it randomly resets to default settings - I don't know, maybe it thinks it knows better than you? I turn off the beeping tone that happens when you push a button (as all sane people do) and it just decided that it would actually rather make noises yesterday. I turned off the service provider band which is almost half the size of the screen, and when I turned my phone off and on again, lo and behold there it is! Cue struggling to remember how to get rid of it, considering the manual is of absolutely no help. Good luck to those who use this phone for an alarm - you can't just push a chunky button in the midst of your morning groggery, no you have to push the tiniest little cube area on the screen, which involves staring into the bright screen in order to push it properly. And don't push too hard, it must be a light, girly touch. Which is exactly how everyone turns off their alarms at 6 in the morning... I hate this phone like I have never hated a phone before. My boyfriend suggested throwing the monstrosity in the latrine. I don't know who uses the word latrine these days but WOW I am tempted. I hope this will stop an otherwise sane person from wasting their money. Regarding the battery lifespan I suggest you change the battery as the short batery-life is perhaps due the overusage of the battery. Maybe you charge it so often before the battery life starts to lower down. Charge only when needed (low battery warning) and that you make you battery last longer for a longer period. Have you tried to maximize the volume when you're on the phone with someone? Maybe that'll help you listen more loudly. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by emm8931 on 03/05/2010 I got this phone on contract nearly a year ago and i can't get on with it.. its a nice looking phone, and texting/general use is fine, but its so unreliable! It freezes all the time and the voice quality in calls is so bad i have to use speakerphone most of the time! Battery life is also fairly poor - it needs charging up everyday with average use. Ive bought a G600 to use for the rest of the contract which is a shame as I think the tocco has the potential to be a good phone. The camera is excellent, browsing the internet is fine, texting takes a while to get used to but isn't a problem..its just the call quality and freezing that make it completely unreliable. Anyone know if this is something I can get a software update for or is it just how this phone is? Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Megan Z. on 01/05/2010 I've had this phone since two days ago but I got it as a second-hand phone. I've read almost all reviews and knew all the specifications all along even before I bought it. Overall it's a good phone, even though this is my first time using a samsung since I've used nokia and SE before. The customization is quite limited as you can't change your theme & such. You can only change the wallpaper & I'm not quite sure about the screensaver. For texting I would say it's quite good but I never really liked the big fonts. You can't change the font size either, which is sad. The camera is nice but note that it'll look blurry when you snap it depending on the picture's size. But I'm sure it'll turn out good once you view it with your computer. Sometimes it'll take about more than 20 seconds to snap a picture. The flash's too bright if you're taking a picture of yourself and by yourself. I'm sure it'll come in handy on certain times. The user interface is very sharp and bright. You can set passwords for you messages if you're giving it to someone else to view the phone and you don't want them to read your messages. The sound is good despite the fact that it only has a small speaker on the upper-front surface. I would totally be thankful if this phone has a WiFi. Design is sleek, very contemporary. So I conclude that this phone is really use-friendly. Suitable for people who likes sharp and bright screen and big fonts. Pricing is excellent. It's worth a buy. However the suitableness of this phone is depending on what a person you are. Example if you want a more exciting phone you might as well go for the Samsung Tocco Lite. The only thing I dislike about this phone is the big, big font and that we can't change the theme. However, not once has it faulted on me in any way. Texting: the touchscreen is brilliant. For texting you barely have to touch the alphanumeric screen (there is no qwerty) for it to register your touch. Therefore, texting is extremly quick (once you get used to it). Camera: In my opinion was very good quality for 5 MP (not that mp actually count anyway). It took clear precise pictures. However, you do have to hold down the camera button slightly for it to focus up and that wastes valuable seconds and is kinda infuriating. But it isnt that big a problem really. Calling: very easy to do. I had no problems with that (apart from the odd occasion when id accidently hang up). You can clearly hear the other person talking and they could hear you very well. Music Player: I never really used this as ive got a great little ipod nano. Battery Life: Very good. I could last a few days with heavy use and not need to charge up. Internet: i never used this alot either as i have a good little laptop. The Tocco isnt really an internet phone so i wouldn't recommend buying it for that. Im not sure there is much else to comment on. Its great for texting and has a great camera. Its not an interent phone and it only has basic features on it. But all in all its brilliant. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by sophie on 06/04/2010 not the best phone ive had, its not as exciting as i thought it would be. okay phone but get scratched easily! watch out for that 1 Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Sabrina on 06/04/2010 I have had this phone for about 11-12 months. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. Shortly after getting it, I had to have T-Mobile repair it because it kept cutting all of my calls off. I have set up security for my message and my photo (as you do ;)) and it will only ask my for my code about 10 times. After this, its like there is no code set up, it just won't ask me for one anymore, therefore meaning if I opened my messages, it would go straight to my inbox. The only way to get the code to appear again, is to turn your phone off and then back on again. Even if you go to the settings, it will show that its all set up, but doesn't actually work for very long. The signal is still very bad and the line is always breaking up when on the phone. Also, I have delivery reports and sometimes I don't get reports for the messages that I send to people. It's really frustrating because at times you really need to know if a message is pending or if its been delivered. Sometimes when I try to make a call, it won't let me. It makes a really weird noise or it will tell me that the number I am calling is incorrect or unavailable. People have trouble getting hold of me too. Another crap function is the T9 Dictionary. Words that you save to your phone e.g. I am really p****d off today - everytime you type a word using those exact keys, it forgets straight away. Same goes for other words such as Hotmail. However, other words you just cannot get rid of - I once typed 'CV' in, now when I try to type the word 'As' CV appears everytime and no matter how many times I repeat the 'As', CV will ALWAYS appear. This also happens with a lot of other words. Texting on its own is a task in itself. The keypad is very small and it took me ages to get used to its tiny keys. You cannot customise your phone with any themes but its no big deal because as long as it looks nice, and works properly, the theme is not an issue. The camera is ok, as long has you have very good lighting in the room or place. Usually its kinda dark, but when I went on holiday, there was sun everyday and due to the rise in lighting, the photos I took were crystal clear, almost proper camera quality. I hope this helps. People having similiar problems, please leave a comment. It annoys me whenn people leave comments two days after getting the phone. You cannot comment on the phone after two days. This is not really an experience, as the phone will probably not show signs of a fault for another few days or weeks. I never had any problems after a couple of days. They began after about a couple of weeks after I started using it. A phone's main purpose these days is to make and receive calls with no interference, problems or fault at all. You should be able to text properly and when you set something on your phone, it should work. This phone gives problems! AVIOD AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!! However, I try calling people and they can hear me and then they cant for about a second, so it isn't very good for calling people on. The earphones are brilliant very loud and clear. Not tried the internet yet but i'm sure it is brilliant. I got the phone a few days ago and i like it. Otherwise, this is a great product. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Vijendra Kumar H. on 27/01/2010 Amazing phone. I liked it the most even though there are certain drawbacks like you cannot find the incoming number whether it is from home/mobile/office when you have stored all numbers in a particular address book entry, you cannot name the camera files as per the date format etc. Also for the common man it is difficult to operate. But for tech savvys it is a feast :-) Overall best phone in that price segment. It has a good battery, which before I got my phone on the internet, seemed to last a week sometimes, lasts a fair while even browsing the net. The only big issue I have with this phone is that it doesn't have WIFI, if it did I would be happy to keep it and not bother upgrading. Apart from that, the only other issue I have with it is the flash on the camera, it is not very good, in the dark it is too bright and everyone squints and still the picture is low quality and is very dark. However the camera is excellent in natural light especially a sunny day. Touch screen is good, I have chosen the cover with the leather flap, a couple of friends have the same phone but did not use the cover with the leather flap and both have said the touch screens are temperamental, so I think it's best to keep the screen protected.
