Reviewed by mat on 16/12/2009 hi i have had my d900ì for two years it was working fine until my charging block broke it will now turn off whenever i charge it of put in ea phones it will not charge now which is inconvinient becsuse it is on low battery im still giving it a four star rating as it is a fantastic phone! thank you Rating:
Reviewed by Paul Upham on 28/11/2009 I have the D900. A reviewer below states: 'Both myself and my partner have had both the D900 & the D900i and unfortunately both of them have broken down. The D900 with a faulty charging block...'. This looks to be my problem also; my phone is about 2 years old and has suddenly become impossible to charge. As I take care of my equipment and the phone was not cheap, I don't really think 2 years is an acceptable life-span. Many people will be ok with 2 yrs though, and these are otherwise decent phones - just buy in the knowledge that they may not be with you for long! Rating:
Reviewed by Georgia on 22/11/2009 I had the samsung D900i for about 2 years. I still think it is a great phone, but I'ts a bit unreliable; as both mine and my sisters has broke now, both by turning off when they wernt supposed to. My sisters lasted 1 year, and mine lasted 2 years. The phone looks great and the features are fantastic. I'm marking it 3 stars because they have broke. Rating:
Reviewed by mike on 13/11/2009 I am now on my second d900i the first one something happened to the screen, I hadnt hit it or damaged it in any way but since the warranty had just ended bought another d900i as I liked the model. I bought my second one in 08-08 and once again I got up this morning and the screen was exactly the same as the first one. I have contacted Samsung today and am waiting for their reply but from what I have heard from other reviews I will get nowhere. Rating:
Reviewed by whats-in-the-name on 13/11/2009 I've been using this phone(D900i) for over an year now and only curse the day I purchased this blasted phone for 9.5k. I mean I feel even my 4.8k Nokia 3110 was much better than it. I'll present to you the actual description of its features: 1.Camera - Average, 3 Mp good but the delay(2-3 sec) it takes to save, poor(nearly no) flash counter it. 2.Music player - pretty good. 3.FM radio - good. Though auto station detect isn't much reliable.I manually found out 11 stations(in Blr) while it detected only 4. 4.Ringtones,Voice memo recorder, speakerphone - Avg 5.Messages - Average, though the range of characters it allows you to type is limited to alphanumerics and a few symbols(heck I hate it when I can't use quotes("),apostrophe(') or star(*) symbol). Though messaging provides many good options. 6.Phonebook and mobile tracker - good. 7.Java games - Good. Though hardly any chance for installing a new game(4 MB constraint), also there are too many compatibility issues. 8.Calls-Huge lists for keeping record. But don't use speaker mode in a call, as they forgot to put option of switching back to normal mode. 9.Phone mode-pretty good, but 'no profiles' annoys me. 10.Browser(WAP 2.0)-it's like the worst browser there could be.. slow, unable to load big(>~200KB) pages, and not so good for viewing pages either. 11.Personal organiser functions - good. 12.Alarm-3 alarms-wake up(has snooze option), 2 additional alarms. Prettty good. 13.Document viewer for MS Office, PDF and HTML files - It's only a myth!!! None of those features is there. 14.Size,design,look,display - Pretty impressive, though display visibility is highly vulnerable to sunlight. 15.MicroSD card slot - It's handled like a uncopyable readonly memory, can't copy, edit, delete any file on it... on connecting to pc. memory card doesn't even show up. 16.MOST IMPORTANT - Battery - Max. on time - 3 days(if no call, music, radio etc.), 1.5-2 days(on 1 hour voice call) and you can do the math.. Conclusion: With every good on this phone, there are way more bads attached.. e.g. so many multimedia options but alas meagre battery renders them all useless..also good radio but can't be used without earphones and so, can't allow phone to be charge at the same time. For any queries, post a comment here and I'll answer them. Thanks. Rating:

Reviewed by mj (jammiiee) on 28/07/2009 Ive had this phone about nearly a year now, the reason why i bought this is because i was attracted to the pink colour on the phone. It has lots of decent specifications, the camera is ok...however ive been disappointed with the battery as ive had to charge it everyday which is very irritating. Now and again it freezes but otherwise everything is fine, especially the signal that's been terrific ^^) merci aurevoir. lol Rating:
Reviewed by Philip on 14/07/2009 There would appear to be some inherant faults on these phones. Both myself and my partner have had both the D900 & the D900i and unfortunately both of them have broken down. The D900 with a faulty charging block and the D900i with a faulty screen and a faulty circuit board. I would not recommend anyone to buy these phones as they are clearly not fit for purpose. I repair electronic items for a living and I know how to use these phones and that is with a reasonable amount of care. Surely we can expect to have some wear and tear out of a phone before they break down. I have a motorola V3 which is a few years old now and I have gone back to using that and as for samsung's never again. Rating:

Reviewed by Kellie on 13/05/2009 Ive had this phone for about 2 years now, its an excellent phone, the camera has built in flash which doesnt always come with some phones nowadays. The quality of the pictures is really good, especially for the price. I know allot of people are saying it runs out of battery really quick , thats only if you use they games/media player for about an hour or so, i dont have to charge mine for about a week, as i turn mine off at night then in the morning its re-charged itself to get another bar. The only problem with the phone is that it doesnt charge off the mains, i have to charge it off the USB, before that happened though and i DID use it from the mains and it seemed to not fit properly, it was as if it was too big to fit in. Overall though its a really good phone. Rating:

Very unhappy and will never buy samsung again, and im sure im not the only one who can see the faults in samsung as a manufacturer. Rating:
Reviewed by Anna on 15/03/2009 well i got this phone december before last and i really liked it. but the camera is quite bad, the keypad is a joke because the buttons are so flat, if yolu have a memory card then all your files are so slow to navigate and it scratches so easily! im 12 and i go out a lot and once i dropped it out a tree and the two slides fell in half but i just slid them back together. it was fine. also the battery life is ridiculous. sadly, a few days ago a boy took my phone and pressed down on the screen therefore the screen just messed up. i dont think i wont another samsung looking at all of these comments. :) Rating:

Reviewed by Nikki on 21/02/2009 This phone was given to me as a bithday present August 2008. At the time I was extremely pleased but now after only 6 months of having it the buttons have stopped working. I'm not able to go into my menu or anything. The only thing that works is the slide - I can accept and reject calls only. The buttons only work if I wait for the backlight to go out but as you can imagine this takes forever to do anything as after every press of a button I have to wait for the backlight to go out again. However, I still am not able to access things through my menu as soon as I get to the menu it throws a wobbly and the screen flashes wildly. I am not impressed with this phone even though I'd had not trouble with it untill now. Rating:

Reviewed by Matt on 18/07/2008 Wow. I have just got myself a D900i on T-Mobile PAYG, and I'm blown away by its value for money. I got it for £80, and this phone packs in so many features. A 3.15MP camera, to start, is excellent. It takes good quality photo's and the flash and auto-focus functions are fantastic. There are also different pixel choices to chose quality of the photo's. I have also just got a 1GB Micro SD card for it, but with 70mb internal memory, unless its going to be used as a multimedia device (check) then this isn't needed. The Media Player in itself is great. The music player has some funky background moving imahes like the sort of thing you get on windows media player. Having read some reviews and people writing in to say "You press 1 to get full screen" i have tried every combo possible and (on a downloaded (i.e. Bluetoothed) video) it hasn't worked. I can honestly say that the D900 is an excellent phone. For its size, it offers excellent battery life, the design is attractive and ergonomic(if unoriginal), calls and signal are great, the camera offers really good pics, the keypad is perfect and the build quality is really high class. I only have a few complaints, and those would be: 1)Music Player isn't really up to standard (Note:improved on D900i) 2)Camera can be a bit slow, and would be better if orientated horizontally 3)the camera on the slide makes it less comfortable to take pictures 4)File browsing is slow Other than that, i have absolutely adored it and will be sad to see it go! Reviewed by Polly on 02/04/2008 I brought this phone for the camera, which was what it was all about when it first came out. I had an old sony ericsson before, which was an amazing, trust worthy phone which i was sad to part with. After reading hundreds of reviews and sadly deciding against another SE I finally chose the samsung D900i, planning to use it as an alternative to my digital camera. The phone itself is ok. The signal strength is not great, and i can hardly ever get signal in my house, but that may just be the area i live in and the network im on. The keys are a good size and its easy to text on, the only problem being that the T9 predictive text feature is rubbish. It hardly ever gets the right word, never usually remembers what my most common words are, it not easy to scroll through the possible words and when i try and add a new word to the dictionary, it randomly is always in capital letters, making me have to change it to normal every time. I tend to just text with the old method d ue to the hassle of T9. The voice clarity is good, speaker phone works well and all the call functions are good. The music player is of an average quality, the sound only goes bad when its on the highest volume setting. Its annoying that you can only use the set text tones, but thats alright to live with. Now to the camera- as i said this was the main selling point that samsung used for this phone. Yes weldont samsung, you were one of the first to put a 3.2 megapixle camera into a tiny phone, but to be honest a two m-p half the price phone would have been much better. Firstly, the camera takes about 10 seconds to load up. The settings are not clear at all, and even if you click on the menu by accident it takes you to the starting screen again, to wait another half an hour for the camera to start again. When you take pictures, it takes about another 7 seconds after the camera noise sounds, all of which your having to hold the phone perfectly still other wise you will get a blurred photo, but that would matter anyway seeing as your subject has already moved, assuming that the camera noise meant that the photo was taken. The other functions on the phone are fairly average, the word document viewer application is good, and the phone is very good as memory stick to transfer data from computer to comuter using bluetooth. (if the computers have bluetooth that is). The computer sofware is good enough.. Its a bit annoying that the charger and earphones use the same socket incase you want to use the earphones whilst charging, but of course its not that bigger deal. Over all the phone did not reach my expectations at all and i wish that i had gone with another sony ericsson (: Rating:

Reviews written before say that the camera isn't good- personally I can't see anything wrong with it and I think it's a great camera which fulfills its job perfectly! I LOVE its sleek and ultra-thin design- very fashionable. I'm a little disappointed that you can't get any additional skins or themes for the D990i but it's worth buying the phone anyway. Reviewed by Dave on 27/03/2008 Its definately one of the best looking phones ive seen in the shops right now and it didnt cost a ton of money, i got mine for 80 quid from the orange shop. I think the big let down with this phone is the camera, for 3 mega pixels i was expecting more. i also found that it takes ages to actually take the picture in the first place and if you shake the phone ever so slightly whilst taking the picture, it goes quite blurry. its the same for taking a picture of someone, they've got to be completely still for a decent picture. I also found the video to be really disappointing theres so many different options but it just gets a little complicated and the quality is rubbish, very glitchy n a slow frame rate. On the upside the speakers in the thing are great you can play MP3'S as loud as you like and the sound quality isnt bad either. Theres also some really fun extras on the thing which makes it a bit more worth while. Anyways its a great looking phone but dont be swayed by by the 3 mega pixels. Rating:

The camera's good enough, it's got flash to capture all yr zits, multishots and this mosaic thingy. even if you stick a 1gb card in it, it can only allow around 100 plus songs on it's playlist and they alow up to 20-30 tracks in each playlist (why not just have one?Hmm) It comes with some nice extras, some new age tunes and this notepad screen everytime you manually dial a number. Speakers aren't as loud as the much older and less technically advanced Motorola L6. It DOES have a radio and MP3s play pretty well on the headphones but a werd of advice-make sure you glue on some silicone covers on the earbuds as they keep on slipping out. Text mssges are tricky as I still haven't found this symbol ' and the wedge bit near the base gets i n the way of typing messages. The silver bit around the frame is VERY easy to scratch. Unfortunately you can't download a text message tone as they are on default and are quite boring, but you can still set yr fave ringtone as the ones they have sound like something from an ice cream van. All in all it's a pretty phone, with a fun cam. It just takes some getting used to. Rating:

I took it back to the O2 shop where I have had it from and they weren't in the slightest interested. After buying the phone I read reviews that warned the screen is very delicate so I kept the protective plastic on, and knew not to apply pressure to the screen but still this happened.I could understand if the glass/screen was actually cracked but its not it's just the crystals underneath. The treatment I recieved in the O2 shop was utterly disgusting! Within seconds of looking they just gave it me back and told me it's not their problem, personal damage, tough luck. I was told it would cost £100 to fix the screen even though I only bought the phone for £80. It's the first new phone I have had in 7 years as I have had second hand of friends so you can imagine how much care I gave it. It hasn't a scratch on it!!! They were unwilling to exchange or replace leading to me threatening to stay all day! A few customers did leave after seeing the treatment I recieved and said they'd shop elsewhere. Reviewed by TJ on 15/01/2008 I brought this phone from Argos on Sunday and had to return it today. I couldnt hear properly when I made a call. I had turned the speaker volume as loud as it would go but it was still very quiet. I then asked if I could change the phone as I was not overly impressed with it, it's too quiet and the camera button makes it awkward to text as well as the bit at the bottom of the phone-its gets in the way wen typin out texts. I was told no So I was given a replacement of the same phone and surprise surprise this one is also 'faulty'. It's very slow, it takes it a good few seconds to register that i've pressed the cancel button and its generally slow wen flicking thru the menu and it takes ages to actually take a photo-a good 3/5 seconds. I only brought a new phone as I had lost my phone over the weekend. I went with a samsung as I had my D600 for nearly 2 years and had no problems with it, however I was very dissapointed with the D900i. It's impracticle, looks a little tacky and its a lot wider than it looks on all the photo's-and ive heard the screens are easily cracked. I will b returning this phone and swapping it for the K800i. I have heard nothing but good things about that phone so I'll give that one a go and see if mayb im just unlucky with phones lol Rating:

Reviewed by Jonny on 30/12/2007 I think the Samsung D900i is the best mobile phone I've had yet, but it does have its down sides as well as its good points. - Only 4 tones for a message alert. + It would be better if we could set a song for a message alert, just like a ringtone. - I still don't know how to manually pan focus. I can set it so it's not automatic, but I don't know how to change the focus when manual. + But then again, what's the point? I just thought it would be fun to try different focuses. - Some people find it annoying when you slide up/down a phone and it makes a noise. I actually would like it to do that. + I think they should of had this ability on and you should of been able to turn it on/off. - If the wallpaper is not on 'Theme' (Big Ben, etc), then when you dial numbers, the image that goes up isn't your wallpaper, it's still Big Ben. + Therefore it makes only sense to change your dialling so that it's boring old coloured digits. Overall I am very happy with buying this phone. It was a lot cheaper (£80 + £10 topup on O2) than any other phone I've had and it's very good and I recommend it. The camera is excellent quality. Also to turn off the key tone just adjust the volume keys in sliders closed mode. The battery has also held up amazingly so far, I've been playing with it for a whole day and it hasn't even dropped a block! At first I liked the phone although the slow camera annoyed me. Also I didnt like the fact that I couldnt figure out how to change the phone from predictive text. This isn't a problem with the phone, mine just didn't come with an instruction booklet. I don't know why, I bought it from an Orange shop,is that always the case? Anyway, I showed my friends my new phone on the first day of having it and my friend who currently had the Samsung E250 showed me how to change the text style. She also changed a few settings on the camera. This did not affect the quality of the pictures at all, it just speeded up the time it took to take a picture! So dont listen to the reviews about it having a "bad" camera, the camera is great (3 Megapixel!) it just takes a bit of fiddling with! After that I was thrilled with the D900i! It takes into account the basic features of a phone, and makes them a thousand times better! I personally love the fact that you can put a password on your pictures, messages, anything you want really. It can be very useful! Reviewed by Nick on 15/11/2007 After having a Sony Ericsson k508i, (old school I know) for two years now, I decide to give my phone an upgraded so I choses a Samsung d900i, Due to the fact that I thought I would be the envy of all my friend with an awesome phone and furthermore, for $340AUS it was a steal. People think this phone is the bomb BULL!!!. My Samsung d900i has been nothing but trouble. First the sound, I took off the sticker but still it not up to scratch unlike my beloved Sony Ericsson k508i which I manage to hear from the other side of my house, the Samsung you cant even hear in your pocket which led me to missed calls. The vibration is soft as well. The camera setting has to be set every time, because when I go out of camera mode it is rested for no reason but the resolution is not WTF. Although the camera is not too bad, but the stupid setting being reset, annoy me and the pointless flash, which has no use tacking picture at night PLUS IT TAKE 5SEC TO ACTUALLY TAKE A PICTURE, WHY? Texting is not too bad until you get up to the stupid way that Samsung want you to add a symbol. The way it works is that you have to press a button twice to go into the symbol mode. Then you have to press a number, which represents the symbol that you want, then you press another button to ok that option, then it brings you back to your text. Not only is this long it a pain in the bum, this is on T9 Dictionary mode, which is meant to be faster not slower. What the hell are with the stupid text tones, how about this Samsung! Get you’re asses into gear and think twice about letting us choose our own tones or at least give us some descent text tones. But the one think that really annoyed me is the that I have never had a phone that was horrible of doing the most basic task and that is ringing people, I was at work and calling my mum and right about when I wanted to say something important it hang up all by itself. No it not the reception or the networks because I u sed my old phone in the same place numerous times and it had no problem coping with it. Other times no matter where I am, I have to ask the person to repeat what he/she was saying. Why? Because I cannot hear him/her due to the phone sound quality and the phone cut out the speaker randomly when the person say something and come on a few sec latter. Even if the phone does not stuff up it sound quality is not the best due to it horrible speaker. However, the thing that top the list for me hatting this phone is the atrocious battery life!, Samsung say the battery life is up to 350hr stand by which is around 14.6 days, yeah right! 1 or 1 ½ day is more like it! Even if it has minium use and turning it off every night I see myself charging the dam thing everyday my k508i can withstand 2 days at least and being turned on all night and this is from a two year phone, but a few days old phone can’t seem to hold a charge for a day. I do not want to play music on it because th e battery will empty in like 2hrs (And I cannot hear anything). If you must buy this phone and you use your phone a lot, consider buying a generator as well because the phone will not last a day; if you use a phone a lot or listen to a lot of music consider buying an iPod instead or another phone. There only a few things I like on this phone, and that is the converter, which come in handy, Bluetooth very fast, and the looks. Nevertheless, I would urge you to stay away from this phone; I thought it was a good phone but I was wrong. I have friends who also brought this handset and have the same issue as I did (it is not only me). To save you some pain and suffering furthermore worries DO NOT BUY THIS!!! There are far better phone. I just thank god that I did not experience the screen being broken but with this handset, it would not be a surprise if it did. I would have expected better from Samsung. I would never buy a Samsung mobile again until they get there act together. Me however, I got a refund for this handset (because I notice the problem within 7 day) and I was using my old k508i for three week after I return the d900i until I got my self the SE k800i and let me tell you it is awesome you will not regretted it if you buy it. When I walked into the Phones-4-u store, it amidiatly caught my eye. As i read through all of the specifications i knew that i had to have it! As soon as i got home i opened it and i was in heaven! All of the features are great, such as; The camera, not so much of the video quality but who really cares about video's anyway! =), the battery life is outstanding. So don't listen to any of these people moaning about bad battery life. They have just have had bad luck whith thier phones. The battery life lasts my phone from 4-5 days. Which i think is quite impressive considering that it has a 3mp camera, mp3 player and all of those cool bells and whistles that phones have. And on top of that it is so light and easy to carry round. It is also comfy to carry round if you know what i mean! I love the fact that it is ultra slim. I couldnt ask for a better phone, except maybe the Apple i-phone which is coming out in 6 days but that phone will cost me a fortune, its not worth spending that much money just on a phone. As much as i love phones, it really wouldnt be worth spending that much money. I am extremely pleased with my current phone. It is pretty CUSHTY! Five stars for me. I really do reccomend getting this phone. You wont be dissapointed. Much love, Cerys. Rating:

Very pleased with it in everyway although the fact you cant change the message tone to something other than the defaults is abit annoying but thats nothing. I took this phone on holiday with me and we forgot the digi camera n I used this and I have to say I was very impressed by the photos, especially outdoors! I use this phone to listen to music alot in lessons and it still has most battery life left, but come on, if u use any of any other phones features its obviously gonna use the battery life faster, Plan to keep this phone for ages, i have no problem with battery life, other day a hadnt charged it up for a week n it was jus onto low battery, and it had been left on constantly. The screen is fantastic quality I've gotta say! althought if u touch it it does hav e some sort of weird thing happen to it but it goes in like 2 seconds, I've put quite abit of force on it and obviously mine aint broke so I'm very happy with it, Best phone on the market still I'd say! recommend it to anyone!, Good job Samsung Rating:

I tested the same files on Nokia and Sony Ericsson mobiles and in fullscreen mode the video files are played with the CORRECT aspect ratio. So, the problem is NOT in the video files but in the SAMSUNG FIRMWARE (software). If these MAJOR problems will be not solved, I'll return my phone and ask for money back. Reviewed by Steve on 24/07/2007 Um...I have just upgraded from a D600 to a U600. Top tip, read the reveiws. The operating system on the U600 is annoyingly different to the D600 :- 1) It saves all texts sent and then puts the number in the recent contacts folder, thus filling it and the sent box up. 2) It locks when you make a call, because of the touch sensitive buttons. This means you have to close the phone down to end the call. 3) The battery life really is about 1 day. 4) It doesn't have the direct access to the camera or video + the relevant folders. You can can get to them, but it's a pain. 5) The signal coverage is not as good as the U600 in the same locations. There is probably more, but this is a review about the D900i which I exchanged to after 2 days. I have to say that I'm not overly happy with the authors of this site, because their review clearly states that the only difference is that the D900i has an FM radio and the D900 does not......For those in the Samsung know, the D900i does not have the Document Viewer facility, but the D900 does. I use this for view Word Docs with maps on. In this format you can zoom into the map. You can't do this on a downloaded image. To be fair, the D900i was a breath of fresh air from the U600, albeit, the U600 does have a good doc viewer, which is faster than the D600's. The main gripe with the D600 was that the slide design meant that you could accidental answer and clear a call whilst retrieving the phone from your pocket. The D900/D900i & U600 have overcome this by design. If you want to upgrade from an original Nokia brick, then the U600 will be fantastic, however the advice from the cheap seats is go for use-ability and settle for the previous model D900/i. One other point is that the battery live, according to the Samsung web site is slightly better on the D900i as apposed to the D900. Over all, the D900i has answered all of the problems with the U600 (but let down by the Doc Viewer, hey-ho, life is a compromise!!) Rating:

Reviewed by Steve Gardner on 30/06/2007 I have just purchased a Samsung D900i just the looks of this phone made me want to buy it. I have not tried out all the functions, but the operation of the phone seem to be very user friendly. The screen is a dream, its clear vivid colours give such clarity. The only limitation is not being able to select an MP3 file for text message alerts, but who cares. This is by far the stylish phone I have seen in a long while. Hats off to Samsung for a quality built, sexy and easy to use mobile. 9/10 Rating:
