hello i bought a d500 and after 5 years the battery life decreased to just 7 hours a day and it is a constant struggle to keep going . its a diffucult phone to live with and should be sold. its absoloutly useless .

This is an outstanding phone,no mater what people say i have had it since it has come out n i have had no trouble with it at all absolutly no trouble seen as though i am very careless with phones i have dropped ths phone so many times on concrete on laminite walls i have even dropped it in water but i have had no trouble with it battery life outsatnding too great pictures and videos every 1 is probaly thinking y i have still got this phone and the anser is because its unbreakable and fantastic

This is one of the best phones I've ever had, I had it brand new in December 2004, 5 years later and I still have the same phone, everything works as it should, never had a problem with this phone, battery life is amazing. Camera is fine for me, does what it should for a 1.3. Absolutely amazing phone! Easily in Top 10 phones ever.

i am only 12 and i got this given 2 me a few days ago and a love it it has everything i need a mp3 player a good camera a video recorder sound recorder it is very loud to play music the camera might only be a 1.3 megapixel but it seems like a 3 or 5 its that good! this is a great fone and i don't need a mirco SD because it has 100mb built in!!!

had mine now for 3 years and on monday took it for an unintended dip in the sea. it was submerged for at least ten minutes. straight away after i threw it in a bowl of fresh water and left it. took it all to pieces only problem was i had to put a hole in the screen to drain the water out. let it dry out and put it all back together tonight, put in the same battery and it works, you can't get better than that, or can you

Hi I have got the d500 and I LOVE IT .I am trying too find an upgrade that will make me as happy as this phone has . i have bough three mobile phones after the d500 . i got a nokia , the new lg shine ke970 and the sony ericcson w850i (which i have sold all three of them as i missed my d500). i was so unhappy i missed my d500 . but i want to upgrade to the d900 but i am still unsure ? i like the alarm on my phone and the ring tones are loud. will i find a phone as good or better ? please help if any one loves the d500 like i have to help me find an upgrade better than it . many thanks

I think Samsung D500 is a stunner!!!Even though I have had it since it came out and still pleased with it!!It has a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash and also does video capture with playback. Hoping to get a new phone but if you want a simple and classic yet magnificent,Iwould advise you to buy this phone!!!!Igive this phone a 5 star rating!!!

Overall this fone is very good...however i think there are a few slip ups. One annoying thing is the pact that it takes a long time recievin a song to then tell you that i doesn't support the format!!..this is really annoyin and i dnt c y it cnt tell u b4 it srts recievin it...it is an all round good fone...an i gt it second hand an it is still working well an iv had it 4 a year!!!...gr8 fone 2 get!!

I love this phone, it's compact and easily fits into your back pocket without falling out or getting broken when you sit down. The features are clear and idiot proof so it's really easy to use. It's sturdy and solid without being an eyesore or too flashy, a very good practical phone for the busy hardworking people who have to have something reliable and not tarty.

Ive had this phone for about a year and i still love it! It has never broken on me and is sooo reliable! I know this phone is now old but it rocks! I am getting a new phone this xmas and i just hope it will be as good as the D500! =]

I have had a samsung D500 for about 3yr's now, and i think it is a very good phone. although it is getting old an like every thing it does not last for ever, as it keeps turning its self off an sometimes not turning back on. So i feel it is time to get a new one although i can not fault the samsung D500 an am very proud to say i own one!

i have had this phone for 4 years. ITS AMAZING. large memory, good quality camera, stylish, easy to use, bluetooth, infered, video camera - its got it all! i only have 2 concerns though.. this phone would be perfect if there was a memory card slot - but that doesnt really bother me, as it ahs a 90mb memory anyway, but its handy if you want more than 30 songs. and the battery life is quite poor, but its better than some of the previous phones that i have bought, and theres no real effort of having to charge it up overnight? this phone has survived alot. whoever said that they dropped their phone, and now it turns on and off randomly - it was your fault for dropping it. and saying that you need to be 'anorexic' fingers to use this phone is very misleading. obviously talking about another phone.. overall, i would like to say well done to samsung. i have bin through 4 years of this phone, so now im going to buy the samsung U600 another stylish phone

I have the d500 and the camera is rubbish. Its so blurry and the graphics on the phone arnt much better, its also hard to connect to a computer, internet dosnt work aswell! Overall the best bit of this fone is the music and memory. Great sound and bags of memory!

Was given the D500 from a friend two years ago. So far had no problems at all. Very durable-Gotten wet, has been dropped and no damage at all. The camera is OK but I am looking for a newer mobile now. Thank you Samsung!!!!!!!

good phone, i have dropped mine loads and it still works. Simple to use and the text is clear to read. The camera isn't the greatest but if i wanted a brilliant camera i would buy one, not a mobile phone.

I have used many different makes and models of mobile phones which have their good and bad points, but the Samsung D500 has no bad points at all. I even asked to have another when I renewed my contract so I have two.... they are by far the easiest Samsung phone to use, I can only say that with years of experience of this phone there is no other phone as good, sad as they are classed as 'old' now.

Ok phone but now getting a bit long in the tooth. Just swapped mine for a sony W810i with is a far superior phone as far as Video, picture and MP3 quality goes. On the plus side, the D500 was extremely reliable and durable having been dropped several times. Move with the times tho and get a more modern phone!!

I have had my phone for about a year and i didnt like it at all. It was ok for the first couple of months but it began 2 freeze, the camera is average and the memory is worse ! after a couple more months it was alot worse nd the screen went a funny colour and it never worked again.

i think the D500 is a wonderful phone with lots of memory and good screen. The camera could be better but its good for just the odd photo which is all you need on a phone. i have had the phone for nearly 2 years and wouldnt think of swapping it even now because there is nothing that is better than it and looks nice. it is the best fone i av had so if ur thinkin of gettin it then it would be really great!!!

This Phone is the worst and most expenisve phone iv ever had, I paid over 200 getting it Fixed and yet again it is broken, The screen and phone is way to Flimsey to be a Working mans phone, Iv broke it Twice and at �60 to fix its not the best phone ever, also the Speaker in it comes loose every few months aswell which means the MP3 player isnt even worth having no wonder they were dic continued in most places... Absoluote rubbish!

this phone is great,it is small and easy to use...i suppose that the only down to it is the number keys are quite small. Like most of the Samsungs, it has a good memory, you can set the camera to take a good image, it has quite a good memory and it is extremely easy to use

I think this is a great phone I've had it for 1 year now and it is fabulous, it doesn't scatch easily and has a brilliant memory, I think this is a great and lovely phone,I love the size and weight,the camra is fabulous, even my daughter loved it that much, she wanted me to buy here one, so I did and she tells me all her friends are jelous, I would definitly recamend this phone, and it can be for all ages.

well it has everything on it, bluetooth, infrared, big memory...etc.. but the thing is its common!! Everybody has it!! So its a bit boring! But if your looking for a phone that has all the modern features on then this is the phone for you. If your the sort of person thats more into looking unique, different, wants a phone thats more of a fashion statement and not too bothered with these features then this really isnt the phone for you!! About 70% of my friends got this phone for christmas!! Personally i wouldnt buy this phone because i dont like the fact that its very common! I currently own the nokia 7360, its very different and you dont see alot of poeple with it!!

I have this phone the graphics are good but it seems to heavy and it keeps falling out of my pocket even if I dont have that much in them. you can have your own ringtones and all but it is the size that has let it down. If it had more colours as well instead of just black then I would like it a bit more I Would get the A800 it would be much better. unfortunatly I droped water over it and it doesn't work any more

I bought this phone last year. In terms of being able to do the basic things on the D500 like texting and phoning, its a good phone. But one of the things I use most in a phone is the camera. The camera is rubbish. Even though its 1.3 megapixels, the lighting is rubbish. If you put flash on, its far to bright and everything and everyone looks white. If you keep flash off, its very dark and you cant see a thing.

Firstly - WOW! What a great phone. I think the ratio between good and bad reviews speaks reems so it's kind of pointless repeating the obvious raves like the memory, styling, ease of navigation etc. However, I've read some of the previous reviews with a mixture of agreement and sheer surprise. Complaints about the standard of photos and vids ...buy a digi camcorder (but it wont make phone calls so no doubt some of you will complain about that!). Then there's the few dubious comments about the speaker, the best has to be the person who asked what it's for - maybe take a wee look at the instructions; even as early as page 9 should give the game away as it's described as a "plug in speaker". I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that my phone has added functions, so why is it I have a built in speaker as well asThis fone is brilliant, dont believe these ppl who are saying there is problems with the build or the mp3. they just either dont know how 2 look after the fone or dont seriously this fone look serious and so good i mite just melt. The graphics on this phone unbelievable and 2 be honest i think that if ny of u out there are wantin well i haven't left it alone yet and the battery is still full,i'm blown away. There is plenty of things onnit to keep you technology hungry people interested and its soooooooo small and sexy. Its loud so you will definately hear it in your bag or pocket,I've had five samsung phones in the past and they have all been brill but this beats all of them and nokias too,the only thing is the camera is good but not as amazed as predicted seems a bit blurred to me,maybe i need to adjust camera sttings? I have a sharp gx30 as well and the camtriangular speaker) gives super sound quality - so no complaints there! Camera quality is great (for a 1.3MP) and so is the zoom! The flash on this camera is the best I've come across (compared to the Sony Ericsson S700i)! It would be nice if Samsung had installed a c opy + paste function like on the more recent Nokia's ... but hey, you can't have everything! Additional features, such as java games are fun to fiddle round with for a while - but unless you're a hardcore mobile gamer, don't fret! All in all, a phone. Samsung delivers amazing build phones in terms of design and style. I think its time for samsung to deliver phones with OS! i just wished this phone had Symbian OS like the N6600 or UIQ like the SE P800/900 series. Thats why my next phone is going to be Moto A1000 or P910i. But if you just the internet like eBay or better still, get a bluetooth dongle for about �15.00 which will come with software to transfer mp3's, wallpapers, videos, ringtones, etc... OVERALL, this is the best phone I have had so far. It has many features - some you may not have ever thought existed like PIN protecting certain "folders" like your MMS msgs, Emails, Songs or Video files. It is easy to use (I haven't looked at the manual once) and will last a lo ng time YOU DONT NEED A DATA CABLE..JUST BUY A BLUETOOTH DONGLE (�20.00)AND PLUG IT INTO YOUR PC to have. The only reason i've given it four stars and not five is cos i've only had it a short while and so there's still a chance things could go wrong. Btw, can anyone recommend a good case to get for it? Like anyone with any new toy, i don't even wanna risk it getting scratched or damaged and I haven't been able to put it down! I was worried that trying to txt on it would be a problem but its very similar to the Nokia OS (without the annoying error msg coming up with 'App closed')! It's a pity that there's no in-built speaker, but the additional accessory (very cute triangular speaker) gives super sound quality - so no complaints there! Camera quality is great (for a 1.3MP) and so is the zoom! The flash on this camera is the best I've come across (compared to the Sony Ericsson S700i)! i've had this phone for 2years && it's been great!PRO's!____________________________________ i can hold loadsa songs (about 24 or more!)&& the quality's really good too! I can hold 800pictures and loadsa voce recordings etc. The screens really big && clear but it can get a few scratches on it (as every phone really!)The sounds really good nd clear but now the sound has become less clear && a lot quiter after i've had it a longer time(and yes i have checked the settings!). CONS- There's teally cheesy messge tnes becase you can't set mp3's or your downloaded music as your message tone which is a shame. slthough, someone wrte a comment saying you can download them from phone club onto you're phone (but the D500 does'nt come with a scart lead to connect to the computer! so i had to go out ^^ buy one andit would'nt work. The slot to charge you're phone is completely open with no cover over like on the D600 has a little rubber cover) so things can get stuck inside it && then it's hard to charge (this happened to me so i had to have it cleaned out!) The D600 also has privacy on messages which the D500 does not have but oh well! i still love my phone but i'll be getting a new one soon as the up arrow broke aswell! hehe Over al a brill phone xxx would deffo reccomend it! x

Great phone so far, the camarea 100% amazing! Very user friendly... Currently having problem with PC software... Although I would recommend this phone to anyone with a slightly tighter budget. But the memory lacks (only 80MB) however great style and look so 5 star phone for me!

I still have this phone in 2007, and it is still far better then most of the phones that are out. Easy to use, easy to text. This is still one of the best phones around, however i also own the d600 which I think is not as good as the D500, and i also own the E900 which is terrible to get to where you want, the touch screen is so hard to use as when you press the right button to go back, if you have big fingers you usual end up going back to the main menu by pressing the red phone button.

I'm not happy with this phone. My major gripe with it is when you're borwsing the net and you find a siteyou like you can't automatically store it as a favourite. You have to go into the favourites menu and manually type in the URL and as most mobileURL's are a jumbled mix of numbers and characters this drove me mad! If you like to use your mbile for browsing then look elsewhere

i got this phone for my birthday in june. i did have a sony ericsson but after a couple of days the screen went white and wouldnt do ant thind. i got this phone instead. BIG BIG mistack. the camera is terrible i cant talke a picture as you cant see anything. the games rubbish. onisal dont waste your mony on it buy a better one for the same money. this one is also over priced.

hey! i have the D500 at the moment and i think it is top nitch! i ahve had it for almost sa year now and i have only found a few faults with it ....firstly it dosent hold mp4 songs... plus it dosent hold many ..20 is just not enough and you dont have the option of putting a new bigger memory card in... and you cant play music and do other things on the phone like reading messages and what not...whilst playing music.. all over i think it is a good phone.. oh and it could do with a better camera.! but i like this phone it has done me well to be quite honest.

I was wary about buying thismphone but Once i had bought this phone, i realised i had nothing to worry about. The picture and video quality is amazing, and it has a huge memory..... The only downside is that it is quite thick, although dont let me make you think its like a brick because its NOT!!!!!!!!

Thought I would love this phone with all its features but some of the features are rather annoying. There are only 10 text message tones, you cant use a ringtone as a text tone so I have been stuck with the same text sound. Also, you cant really change much of the display either. The MP3 tones are good but you cant actually hold many on the phone, I think I have managed to fit 9 on at the most. The speaker phone is quite good, really good quality but apart from that Im not a big fan of this phone.

i have this phone at the moment i loved it the day i first got it like you do with every phone you get then the paint starts to come off easily from taking it in and out of your pocket it doesnt connect to the computer but it is an all round deasent phone like the camera for incendance its ok for takin pictures in a good light and flash is briht like if you go in dark allys ad you dot have a torch the flash is only a few shortcuts away and memory is great ive had ova 20 songs on this phone and thats alot more than the motorola v3 i end it here with my end conclusion i think this phone is handy to have and stylish and a great little gaget.

Dis fone is da bomb. It has a 1.3 megapixel which is great 4 taking & receiving pics.Da memory is excellent [96mb]. Dis is enough 2 store plenty uv pics, vids and mp3s. The design uv dis fone is brilliant also

I've now had this phone for over three months and it is excellent!, camera quality is good, mp3 is good, everything is excellent! also such an easy phone to use, you get an awful lot for your money i think anyway with this phone and it looks great!, very easy to text with and the bluetooth works very well. Ive had this phone for 3 months and is now broke, it turns its self on and off whenever it feels like it, it decides not to send texts at all for hours, i get a white screen and the bttery life is rubbish. This is one of the worst phones i have ever had. SAVE YOUR MONEY xx

this phone has a long battery life which i excellent if you go on hliday but leave your charger at home. The d500 has a good camera (1.3 megapixel)and has a number of effects e.g. macro, night mode and lots of other things. The SmS inbox can hold 100 messages on average (depends on the lenth)and can send and receive images.

This is the sweetest phone ever, it's better than the V3 and all of the Motorolas, im 12 years old and i think its the best phone. It has the best cost for what your getting and if your friend has a phone and he or she brags about get this phone and rub it in their face :D. it has the best camera quality and the camera's still better than the V3's rubbish camera. Well ive pretty much covered everything so yeah. BUY THIS PHONE!

i have now had this phone for nearly a year and i think it it our standing. the mp3 player is fab , and you can have all your mp3 ringtones as ringtones .the stroge on the phones isnt that good and nor is the camera but part from that this phone is a fab lush phone it also looks very smart and is very lush he black is all in. it has a wonderful shape . the bluetooth is fab . the recording is alirte two. i am very pleased with this phone. and i would recomened it to anyone.

i got this phone as a christmas present last year, my brother also had the phone and when i used his i instantly wanted it too. i got it and was really impressed with it, i still have it now and im lookin to upgrade it to the d900 or the e900, not because theres anything wrong with it but i just want the new one, i havent had any problems with it at all, its been an exellant phone...the computer software for adding music etc. from the pc is so simple even i could understand it =] the screen resalution is good as is the camera considering it only had a 1.3 megapixel camera, it took very good pictures and the flash came in every usfull many a time. the phone is really good, simple to use, stylish and i think even now its quite old its still a very good phone ..this phone or e900/d900 is definalty a must and they aren't too expensive either =] in conclusion i think its fair to say its the best phone i have ever had and i think samsung has done a fantastic job and they just keep gettin better and better at this well done samsung =]

I have had my D500 for over a year now and have just decided to upgrade to an E900. My D500 is a reasonable phone and has served me well. Good points - The phone is very good at the basics. Texts are easy to write, the menu system is (generally) easy to use. Phone calls are clear and crisp. Additionally, the camera is very impressive. Photos and video appear well defined on such a small screen and the phone has a large memory for them. I also like the Freekick game (sad, but addictive). Bad points - The screen is not the greatest and got scratched whilst in my pocket by the stud on my jeans. Recently, the "OK" button has stopped working which seems odd given that the functionality of the phone does not require that it used very frequently at all. This is very annuoying when setting the alarm which you do need the button for. I also dont think it is the most attractive of phones - it seems quite bulky compared to many other phones. I wouldnt have another but, that said, it is a good bog standard phone.

I've had this for for over 6 months now and have had absolutely NO problems with it whatsoever. Apart from not being 3G this phone had everything you would possibly need and looks the Gnats Knackers. Have been with Nokia for years until 6 months ago and will probably not go back to Nokias samey samey design and features. Buy it now, as you can get them at a fairly reasonable price and what you get for your money is outstanding. Just read the reviews and specs.

Previously had Samsung and Sony Ericsson but have been disappointed with the D500 more than I have been pleased. Everytime you open and close it locks itself - give me a break - and texting is a nightmare, with a rubbish dictionary and endless buttons to press to send. The cursor keys are liable to jam after 6 months of use making you want to throw the thing at a wall. It looks good and fits nicely into small pockets . Unfortunately, Samsung have made a phone to keep the freaks happy with many nice features but for calls and texts it works like chicken night in turkey.

excellent phone i've had loads of phones but this is by far the best! it has a good memory and battery life can hold many songs and has good bluetooth and infrared. it usually comes with a mini speaker which is great and you can have a moving background on your phone! excellent phone i suggest buying one!

Wel i have had this phone for a year now and i have enjoyed it, but as i am changing contract it is time for a different fone as they quality of the camera is not as good as others out at the mo (due to been a 1.3.mega piczel, but the pictures are still decent, i have had no problems with the fone only the pain job, i had the the silver and light gray version from orange and the pain has just cum off in places which did not impress me. But everythin else is great it is a handy fone just to slip in and out of your handbag.

A bit of a dissapointment considering the rave reviews. MP3 OK, but no radio. Camera quality quite good on PC but let down by a small fairly low res screen. Poor keypad and difficult to text to more than one person. Reception OK, audio quality a bit muffled. Memory good but not upgrabable. Games - well downloadable but most said incompatible with phone when I tried! Best thing is brilliant MMS and multimedia features but I can't say I really liked it and took the sim card out and went back to my trusty nokia 6600 smart phone. I now have the w800i, now thats a phone!!

Hi! I think that this phone is great, the battery lasts for days, it looks very good, it has nice ring tones...the black colour (if your phone is black) of the phone just crabs you in it's hands and you can't let go off and you just have to get it. The SAMSUNG D600 is great too, but it doesn't grabs you...D500 id just GREAT!!!! When I surch the phone, I always find something new....well, that's it from me, bye!

I love this phone, i have had it for about a month now. When i get a new phone i would normally play with it for about a week and then give up and just use it for texting etc. but this phone i different, the features are outstanding, the picture quality is amazing (even enlarged fullscreen onto a PC), it looks great and it feels great in the hand. I could fiddle around with the slide all day, sliding it up and down continuously! One of my favourite features is one which i have only ever seen on a samsung, when i am texting and i want to insert a few symbols eg. ?!?!?!? it takes ages pressing 1 a million times or pressing the * key non - stop on another handset but on the d500 you press a button 3 times and enter a number with a keypad showing on screen. I dont understand why anybody would buy a d600 when i belieeve that the d500 looks better, has paractically the same features, is smaller, lighter and cheaper. This is the phone you want, no doubt about it, thanks, Conall

I have been waiting for a little while to own Mt dream phone,Yes the D500 coz prices were so high in my country.I live in Bangladesh,Yes!Its a third world country but in my country we always get the latest models of any mobile phones,sometimes 6 months brefore a europian or any other foregn market!! Well ,what can i say about the D500?Its design is simply stunningly sexy ,infact i think its design is sexier than the D600. I upgraded from the annoying d410 and the d500 is def light years ahead than all its predecesors.The phone has been thouht thru well,EVERYTHING IS GR8! The Only DRAWBACL of this phone is 1)Battery life is average,mine lasts a day,My other phone, a motorola e398s battery takes it 3 days on a full charge. 2)The MP3 player on the d500 is good compared to other models but when u compare the sound output wih my moto e398,the d500 sounds like an old am radio whereas the e398 provides crisp cd quality sound. The last drwback of the d500 is it has a large memory but it cannot be extended,not too much of a biggy.sp if u r considering buying it,dont hesitste,GO FOR it. ITS TOO AWSOME!! sidrat100@hotmail.com

This phone is much better than the D600. Don't listen to that rubbish other reviewers tell you, go for the D500 - that camera is better even though there are less pixels/megapixels. It is simple phone but is still loaded with cool features - my Great Nanny who is 91 could work it if she wanted to!!!!!!!!! The MP3 player is brilliant and the sound is much better than the D600. It is amazing that shops sell that rubbish D600 for such a lot when orange - the worlds best network, sell the better phone - the D500, for less than �150! I recomend this phone to everyone and remember, anyone who says the d600 is better than the D500 does not know what they are talking about!

squatting lion is wrong (see review a couple of lines down). I've had my D500 for nearly a year and it's as good as new. No scratches, no software problems, and even the slide feels just like it did when brand new. Some people need to learn to look after their stuff better.

Hello there! I think that this phone is the best...!!! It is so BEAUTIFUL!!! One day my phone had a biiiiiiiiiiiig cascade, it just has a little scratch there, and it looks like the scrach is healing!!! LOL! This phone has the greateset Images, and its melodies are nice. I think that SAMSUNG D500 looks better that SAMSUNG D600...D600 is very fat! Well, that's it from me. P.S I've learned something from my black SAMSUNG, what I've learned is never buy a black phone, because when it scraches, it gets white!!! Bye!

For all those who think this phone is awesome you're mistaken. Yes this phone has good features but for the money you pay, it shouldnt stop working after 6 months of purchasing it. If you ask people who have just bought this phone they will tell you its awesome, but talk to anyone who has had the phone for a while and they will probably tell you its broken and that they are getting a new one. A friend of mine has replaced his twice now and both times they've malfunctioned after a few months. So if you've spent �200 on this phone, that wasn't the smartest thing you've ever done phone cheap and don't mind getting a new phone after 6 months then go ahead with buying one. But consider all the better phones first.

This is a nice phone but I have found the slide seems to get loose. When my phone is in the open position it wobbles from side to side (the extended part). I have only had it a couple of weeks. This puts me off and makes it feel cheap. I think I may go back to the trusty old bomb proof nokia!! The camera on maximum 1.3 pixel has a huge 2-3 second delay after pressing the button and can only take pictures of still things otherwise you just get a blur. Although you do get alot of pixels you shouldn't be fooled into thinking it will replace a camera. I was! It also bugs me you cannot have ringing and vibration together. It will start vibrating and then it rings. I may be looking for perfection or just expecting too much from what is just a phone.

I purchased this fone from my local o2 store and i will admit it has to have been the best �200 i have ever spent on anything... I Prevoiusly had a nokia 7600 which i dropped in a river :0 so i thought stuff it so i bought a nokia 6230 i thought wait a min this is exactly the same so i looked at my mates 7210 oh what a guess its exactly the same everything is the same in the menu structure in every nokia... 2 weeks later i took it back and said it had bluetooth problems...lol I have had the samsung D500 for about a month now and its just awesome i havent got bored with it... The menu system is sooo vibrant colourful which really shows off its 262k on screen colours any foto will blow your mind.. The bluetooth connectivity is seamless it will work with any device in fact i am using it as my GPRS modem right now!! This phones amazing. The 3 second delay the people are complaining about is due to the picture size being at its largest i found that if you reduce the picrue size there is no 3 second delay.Amazing phone with lots of features A++++++ recommend it to anyone. And this phone does have an sms counter.

This is a rather fab phone...im not very good with mobiles and before this sasung had two rubbish phones...but i did some research before asking for this phone for christmas and im happy with the result, theres quite a good camera on there, the video is quite good quality...ok memory status, also has bluetooth which is great...good buy.

This Phone is brilliant! The only problems are that you can`t record things and then set them as your ringtone and the same with message tones. But everything else is superb. The picture quality, the video everything! also the freekick java game is very good! :)

I've not got the phone I think I'll buy it for my xmas but ALL my mates who have got it say the camera is amazing, it's just the best phone they've had, borrowed my cousins D500 while my Sony Ericsson was broken, it was easy to use, great sounds and looks fabulous, I was worried cos my cousins phone got soaked in my bag, ( my bottle of water spilled ) but after leaving it to dry for two days it was back to perfect condition. The only thing that is wrong with it is the 3 seconds delay in the camera, puts me off a teeny bit.

Its a good phone and seems to be the "in thing" to have when i got it i loved it, but i soon descovered it was abit fragile i have had to replace mine twice due to the screen getting scratched,when its in my pocket or bag it scratchs, i got a tiny scratch on the screen and thought it would be ok but the scratch started to get bigger and then the whole graphics went.

this phone - wow!!! when i first saw it i almost fainted at its looks. it has brilliant technollogy and exquzite pictures, videos and ring tones. i bought this phone on the 14/3/05 and it is still fab! i have had 12 other phones in the past and this is the best yet all its features amaze me i dont know how a phone can be so beautifully created and fashioned. if you are looking for a new phone this is the one to pick you won't be let down you will just be kept amused and entertained. there hasn't been anything made like it, the samsung D500 is the only phone that will amuse entertain and make you feel good about your phone. it may be abit of money but trust me it is well worth your money from what you get out of it i think it should be worth alot more!! Don't be fooled by the D600, stick with the D500, its more robust and only misses out on the 2 meagpixel camera. Save your money and stick with this. I bought the D600 after owning the D500, the screen slide came loose in one week, and there was a fault with the battery life on teh phone, my girlfriends identical phone suffered the same demise. I have just ordered the Nokia N70, but seriously guys, the D500 is awesome.

Sounds like i must be the lucky one! My D500 was in the pocket of my jeans when it whent though a full cycle in the washing machine! I removed the sim card and put it in the airing cupboard (as you do) I tried it 2 days later and it works perfectly. I have had it since june and my only moan is that thr ringing volume is not up to scratch.

Having owned many phones I can easily say this is the best I have owed. It has its good points and bad points but the good easily out number the bad. Good. Lots of memory, I haven't managed to fill i yet. Great camera with lots of picture quality/shooting options. Nice crips sound. Great video. Lots of nice options.Very durable (My G/F dropped hers in a pond and after 3 days drying out it was in fully working condition.) Bad. Cant customise sms ringtone. can't use voice tones as ringtones. Cant bluetooth games. Just a few niggling points. Can't wait to see Samsungs next upgrade of this phone maybe these points will be fixed.

Now a days people take it for granted that the smallest stylish phone should have EVERY feature. People who give this phone bad reviews have got to the remember it was never designed to be a "smart phone" and for such a small phone with a big screen and stylish layout the features are unbelivable. Its been out a while now but a 1.3 megapixel camera is still VERY impressive other than a few very new expensive phones its the best around. Samsung have incoporated everything. Pleased to see the arrival of bluetooth. Before i bought it i read some bad reviews and was abit put off. I guess it does depend what kind of phone you want. People complain about no memory card slot. But the memory on this thing is astounding anyway.

I have owned my D500 for under 1 month, and the speaker is faulty, I have not drop it, nor has is become wet and I am now waiting for a replacement. I only hope that the replacement D500 is better than this one I currently have. Also when I use the flash on the camera or vidio it drains the battery very quickly. When you take pictures, it captures it 3 seconds after you have pressed the button, making it hard to take action shots.

i just bought the samsung d500 and i am very disapointed. it has a brilliant camera, video and memory but the screen got scratched after being in my jacket pocket which had two tissues in it. The MP3 ringtones are useless i used my favourite song (paradise city, guns n roses) and it sounded like a dog being hit with a football

What a brilliant phone, excellent design and functunality. Sound quality excellent as is connectivity. Screen is extremely sharp. Only concern is the 3 sec delay from pressing the camera button to the phone actually taking the photo! 3 seconds is a long time when you're trying to take pictures of your new baby daughter! Would recommend to anyone

The phone is excellent. But I awarded 4 out of 5 points due to the foll reasons: 1) I developed a pain in my right thumb after using the phone for a couple of weeks. This happened to my dad as well when he was using the phone before he gave it to me. 2) T9 text never stays on. It always keeps on changing back to the the traditional system. 3) I can't zoom into pictures loaded into the phone from the computer or from other phones. Also can't create folders to organize pictures/songs or any other content. The phone has lots of plus points as well. Superb camera quality, flash is also useful. Video recording is excellent (1 hr). Battery life could have been a bit better.

I recently switched over to this phone from the Sharp GX30i which i had several problems with.. after 1 week with this phone, i fell in love with it. the display is sharp and easy to see. the camera is good quality and MP3s and pictures are EASILY uploaded from PC using a Bluetooth Dongle.. the phone is small and compact and basically the best ive ever seen from Samsung.. i look forward to the D600 :D

this phone is proper!! it has a quality camara 1.3 mega pixels ,great pics!. The phone is nothing special. It's my 4th camera phone and I dont think it's camera quality is too great...the menu system is sometimes confusing too (maybe I'm used to Nokia). I also find it hard to adjust to the slidy thing because sometimes it gives a poor quality feel to the phone. It's not a bad phone but I think I will go back to Nokia once the 3G network is at 100 here in Hungary.

The rating goes no lower than 1, what's all that about? When I bought the phone I was sucked in by the pretty stylish handset and the promise of doing all things wonderful. The camera is abysmal - it looks good when you go to take the pic, but once saved it's cropped down and the quality isn't all that. I've had mine nearly 4 months, the slide function is getting stiffer by the day, soon I'll be using both hands to slide it up. Recently it's decided to stop using my ringtones and the annoying ball tune, making me look like a twit cos I don't realise it's me ringing. As usual with contract if I want it sorting I have to take it to a store so they can send it back and charge me #50 deposit for the privilage of using one of their hire phones. Not so much a samsung or contract lover anymore.

THE best phone so far I have had lots of Nokia Motorola and 02 phones but this it the best it is so fast great bluetooth fantastic screen but the only thing is that you hav to get a speaker to clip onto the phone to make it loud while listening to mp3 why not install a loud speaker any way apart from this what a fantastic phone.

Hi Just bought this (d500) on Vodafone PAYG for just #199.99 plus a #10.00 discount on a trade in, yesterday. So far, I have enjoyed the look, handling and facilities that little gem has to offer. My only though slight reservation is that the build quality could be better as it feels a touch tacky compared to the siemens sl65 which my previous phone. Although the samsung is far superior to the siemens in everything, it cannot quite match the siemens in finish and build. The samsung is still an excellent buy especially on Vodafone PAYG. The cheapest compared to the others, orange...etc. Go buy now!! :)

The phone is excellent. Great display and a lot of features including bluetooth, camera. I don't like that it is not possible to have the phone both ring and vibrate. And also it is not possible to tranfer the phonebook from the phone to the sim card. These are the only features that I was used to from Nokia phones that I don't like in this phone. Other than these it is a great buy.

Before I review this phone, I am a business user, so while camera and video are nice they're low on my needs list. The phone is good - not special. I hear you all hissing at me, but let me explain. It has a very good loudspeaker (even without the extra attachment) - much better than the Nokia 6230(i) and Sony Ericsson K series - it matches my LG phone. And it has a sharp, bright screen. Sound quality is good too. Bluetooth and IrDA are built in. But actually using it - here is where it let's it's self down. The menus are not overly simple, and related functions are found in different places, which in my opinion makes it 'fussy' to use. I compare this it my LG, which is very easy (I haven't even opened the manual) and the LG's menu system is simple, clear, and complete - something I wouldn't say of the D500's. And for the second problem, the design; the buttons are largely obstructed by the case, either the slide up top or the rid on the base. When the top is up the phone becomes 'top-heavy' wanting to fall out of your hand. Connecting it to the PC, well really Samsung, why are you so mean you don't even give us a cable or the software - shame on you.. Despite my moans; the loudspeaker and sound quality make up for it's weaknesses.

Trust me the d500 is best phone to buy this year. u would be stupid to buy at a different phone. The camera qality is grate and the video just gos no forever( make sure to put it in the right video mode). You can ave frames in ur pic and sifferent types of camera ie normal or blue or enven sketch. The camera also has flash and a mirror for self portraits.The games are great and for a phone which doesnt ave a memory card it can store tnes of mp3 music. It is fast and the slide up is very easy to handle. In a fone u need infared so ur mates can send u lots of there music pics and videos for FREE! Having bluetooth it is a great phone for business.. The blutooth is very fast and when some people say it crashes they probalbly dont know hoe to use the bluetooth. This phone is stylish and the colour is great. It can store loads of names and txt messages. There are so many things to do. SO GET THIS PHONE.

THe samsung d500 is a fantastic phone with so many features on there ie mp3 player/videos this phone is everything you need forget your camcorder and camera all you need to take with u is this phone. i have been waiting ages for this phone it is well worth the wait. WELL DONE SAMSUNG ANOTHER SUPERB PHONE MADE BY YOURSELVES.

This phone is amazing but there is one thing that lets it down and that is the memory, if you could upgrade the memory it had that this would easily be the best phone on the market, other than that it has a great camara, great functions, very easy to use and looks awesome but the nokia 6230i has all the same functions plus you can upgrade the memory, but its just not as stylish.

Great phone, nice style, text is easy and receptive, camera and MP3 is trully clear - BUT -at a basic level and reading other reviews most people change phones or at least if a phone goes wrong can put the SIM card in another phone and you can keep using your contacts.... SO.... how is it possible that Samsung have produced a phone that you can't transfer numbers from phone to SIM ? If your phone breaks or you want to change your phone its back to 10yrs ago looking up numbers written and stored elsewhere and entering them manually !!!!

This is a great little phone...the only thing which I've found that I really cannot understand is the currency converter... The currency options are between the euro and all of the currency's the euro replaced ie french francs, deutche marks, irish pounds etc...Why have a converter against unused currency's surely euro's versus US dollars, GB pounds and Japanese Yen would make more sense!

i have this phone at the minute and it is one of the greatest phones! no the greatest phone i have ever had and everything about it is jus perfectly polished to perfection!! The camera which is one of the best on the market at the minute and the memory for photos is immense! i have download may rigtones, mp3's, games and also pictures and there is also lots of memory left! I think the Samsung D500 is the best phone i've ever had.... and i tend to change my phones quite often! One small gripe is the message tones... i would prefer to set a ringtone as a message alert instead of the standard message tones. I love the MP3 ringtones and constantly download new ones so that i can change them regularly. Its a pity that it doesn't have a memory card as i find i can only store about 25 MP3's!!!!! Brilliant phone though... i'm just peeved that everybody seems to have one now and i'm waiting to see what i can swap it for next... although it will only be if samsung can find a way of making an even better phone but that will be some challenge!!!!

5 stars. - Great Shape & Color (BlueBlack) - Easy, User-Friendly Menu - 1.3 mega pixel bulit in camera with flash - although samsung brought up the world's first phone with 7.0 mega pixel built in camera, 1.3 mega is more than enought for a cell phone!! if u want higher pixel, then just get a digital camera. - 80 MB memory gives enough space to store mp3 files, and plays them great, with samsung's streo bluetooth (Wireless!!) headset (MUST GET THIS STREO BLUETootH HEADSET!!) - records up to 60 mins of video!! - great recpetion everywhere! better than motorola or nokia i used to have overal. the best phone ever. 7 stars.

Great phone. Loads of features,great battery life, super fast GPRS (for a non 3G phone it isn't bad)and much more.I had a Sony Ericsson P900 and have only had Nokia and Ericsson phones, but this phone measures up. A few issues though but it may be due to the fact that it's an Orange handset. No on screen memory for functions and the documentation that comes with the phone is poor. Can't move contacts from phone to sim (very annoying especially if you have to change the phone all numbers are lost also sim card doesn't store all contact details. Would prefer if the phone could vibrate and ring for all ringtones instead of just 1 or 2 manufacturer ones, shame about the limited profiles as well.

I was really impressed with this phone when I first got it about a month ago, however this morning the screen decided to freeze and has now gone white with a few coloured dots on it. I haven't got it wet or dropped it so I really don't know what's happened to it. I agree that all the features are great.... until it breaks for no apparent reason. Looks quite stylish but I reckon stick with an uglier nokia because they seem to have a very long life. :-(

I AM A MOBILE PHONE RETAILER AND RECOMMEND THIS HANDSET. HOWEVER THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS PHONE IS THAT YOU GET BORED WITH IT AFTER A CERTAIN WHILE. ALSO THE BLUETOOTH IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CONNECTIONS SUCH AS THE 6230 (NOKIA) SO YOU CAN`T REALLY TRANSFER DATA WITH ALL HANDSETS. HOWEVER IT DOES HAVE A LOT OF MEMORY SPACE.

Advantages Easy to use, great Calendar, Java games, Bluetooth, MP3 player, camera, 80MG memory, TFT Screen, Browser, Caller Photo ID, etc) Disadvantages Only two modes of profile (normal and silent) this is VERY annoying. The predictive text does not remember your last settings..verying annoying when wrinting text messages or calendar events. The USB port for charger is a crappy little plastic piece (should have been a slider like the hands free port). The design of the slider means there is a 3mm height in the inner wall of the phone, this can make it slightly harder to use the outer keys (1,3,4,6,7,9,*,#) All in all great phone, but they should have looked at some of the fundementals!

I stole from samsung centre. It was very easy. no security guard. hahaha just kidding. anyway, my girlfriend bought 4 me. emm.. very nice. she is pretty. caring by the way. my girlfriend is generous. she knows my type. samsung D500 has a good quality. this is what I've been thinking. the function is more than before. camera and so on.. very well. I love samsung.

A little history lesson on the Euro for Dairuks. The Euro was introduced to 11 EU countries on 1st January 1999 and was transitioned over a 6 month period. Greece joined 2 years later. With regards the phone. "It's awesome!!" Sure there are certain functionalities which are useless to 95% of the population but you can't please all people all of the time.

In response to mjd.. It was almost two and a half years ago that euro was introduced to the most of the EU countries. I really hope that those people are accustomed to their new currency now. I have experienced currency change (actual and by moving to another country). Of course, one calculates everything in the beginning, but it's just too tiring for everyday life for a long period of time. I could agree that older people could have more problems with a currency change and would like to have some help, but as I have experienced they have even greater problems using mobiles and other modern devices. And I don't just mean 80-90 year olds, but those in their forties and fifties as well! To my mind, this function is really useless for what I see as the intended user group of this mobile phone.

In response to dairuks, Samsung may have included the ability to convert between the Euro and obsolete currencies in order to assist residents of those countries which now form part of the Euro-zone who still find it easier to work in the currency with which they grew up. Just because one person does not find a particular feature of use does not mean that it will not benefit other users.

Samsung D500 is a very good phone. But there is a function that is totally dumb: currency converter. You can convert euroes into DM, liras, schilling, pesetas, francs, gulden and other former currencies. Among 13 currencies in this function, euro is the only one that exists now.. Absolutely useless! WHAT IN THE WORLD DID SAMSUNG THINK WHEN THEY DESIGNED THIS FUNCTION??????

i ordered this fone of www.livetelecoms.com because it was on offer. i recieved it 3 days later and i was amazed at all of its feautres it has a 1.3 megapixel camera and 1 HOUR video recording.it haz an mp3 player about 20-25 songs not bad 4 a fone.i love the fone it is much better than my sagem my-x7.my advide iz deffently get it it it super.

I have had this phone for a few days and have tried out most of the features except the Bluetooth. It's an amazing mobile. I upgraded to this one from a Samsung V200 (which I loved), but this is so much more powerful. The camera is excellent quality, but I have noticed that when you press the button to take a pic, there's about a one second delay before it actually takes the photo. Once you get used to this it's no problem. The other thing to make sure is that you set the camera to its maximum resolution, as mine came with VGA as its factory setting. The video camera is also excellent and doesn't seem to suffer from the same delay, although it's lower resolution, so that might be the reason. The display is amazing, as everyone says. The mp3 player is pretty good and the 64-voice polyphonic ringtones are so realistic, I can't tell the difference from mp3. The choice of supplied ringtones isn't brilliant though. The battery life seems pretty good to me right from the start, and it charges from zero to full power in about 2 hours. I like the shape, size and weight of the phone - easily fits in my jeans pocket (don't put coins or keys in the same pocket unless you want your phone scratched!) I'm still not sure whether I like the slide-up design as much as a clamshell - jury still out on that one, but it's undeniably "cool"! The slide is a simple springloaded mechanism, not powered, so I don't think it's likely to break, and it can't accidentally slide open when in your pocket. I've also been playing with the GPRS, as I plan to use this as a wireless modem for my laptop, and I'm impressed by the speed. The phone was already set up for WAP so I didn't have to configure any settings, and what surprised me is that there is a HTML browser in the phone itself, so you can view ordinary websites with images and everything. It's not brilliant on such a small screen, but I didn't know that it could do it at all, so I'm definitely impressed. I am finding the menu a little harder to navigate than the V200, but that's because there's so much functionality. I'm sure that I'll get used to it very soon. I actually find texting far easier on this than on previous Samsungs (V200, A300, A800). Just to try to answer some of the points that other reviewers have raised: unable to access the calendar when on the phone - that seems to be true, it's not a multitasking phone, so don't buy it if you need that feature. One guy said there's no infrared, but that's not true, the infrared port is included. Overall, 10 out of 10 - I couldn't possibly give it less. I'm still not sure whether I should have waited for the Samsung E720 instead, but that's splitting hairs. They are both amazing phones and I feel really lucky to own a D500.

This has gotta b 1 of the best phones out! Had mine in Feb, Great pictures, sounds, easy 2use. Loads of free stuff ringtones, pics, screen savers from the Samsung site. A great lookin phone willb lookin out for the next model to follow this, an I would recommend this phone to any1! I also have Motorola V635, which is no where near as good as the D500.

Got my D500 in Dec. and its been to the repairers twice so far. it keeps turning itself off. really annoying. you have to turn it back on then it goes off again. samsung say there is no problem (but my sim works fine in my old phone) now they want me to pay them #17 to get the faulty phone back. i don't want it back. i want one that works because i like the phone when its not turning off all the time. Just fighting it out with them now with the help of trading standards.

Simply outstanding. This is the best phone on the market today. Anyone who gives this phone a poor review is revealing what sad individuals they are not understanding the value of this phone. For instance - can't take pictures whilst using the phone, 1 star - is that really a rational opinion? Can't operate bluetooth, etc. Treat these reviewers with the contempt they deserve and read the 5* reviews from people who know.

what a fantastic phone to tell the truth this is my 2nd d500 i dropped my 1st 1 down the toilet and as luck would have it i did not insure the handset so i went and got another contract thats how good the phone is. I currently work for t-mobile so i get to test a lot of handsets and this is by far the best on the market at this present time. Big thumbs up to samsung and i think its safe to say that we can expect better again from samsung with the list of new handsets thats due to launch in the next 12 months

After using the D500 for a week I think its very clear that this phone is not for business people. When my staff called and wanted to setup an appointment with me I can't open the calendar!!! there is no way you can access the main menu to look at the schedule or meeting. I called Samsung and asked them... The Samsung guy said Samsung phones just can't do it. I also felt unhappy with other limitations such as I can't take pictures, can't do recording, can't do a lot of cool stuffs while talking on the phone... I expected to use this business phone before I bought it but too bad I have to go back to my old Nokia 6230

After waiting 3 months for my phone I am a very proud owner of the D500. I was gutted it didn't come in the black colour but I'm not that bothered having waited since November '04 for this phone I really shouldn't complain. It has all the added extras, Camera with flash, Bluetooth, Video Clips and MP3 Player! It's easy to use and understand, it's a great, smart little phone!

only just had the phone and love it apart from one thing!!!!! Unless of course you can all tell me otherwise. It does not allow you to voice activate calls, which i thought is essential when using the bluetooth headset. Am i right in thinking it has no voice dial? Or am i thick and just can't find it. That is my only gripe with it though.

How can you all be missing the fact that the Bluetooth does not work properly with Windows XP? You can not transfer an image file between a PC and this phone using the software Samsung have created. Sure you can load ringtones. You can even sort of syncronise after a fashion as long as you dont mind missing data - but it is definitely a seriously flawed product on the data connectivity. It can not claim to be a business phone until this gets sorted.

Just read the reviews, so thought I'd add my thoughts / comments. First thing to remember is THIS IS A MOBILE PHONE!! It is not a PDA, Digital Camera, MP3 player or flat screen TV. Yes it comes with one battery - as do 99% of mobile phones. If you need another - go buy one. The bluetooth was a problem with earlier models - it's now been rectified. The camera is fine if you use the settings properly. If you want fantastic pictures, buy a camera. The mp3 aspect again is fine - if all you want is to listen to mp3's - buy an mp3 player. As for the screen - again it does the job very well - you know what to do if you want a fantastic screen. Maybe the build quality is an issue for you - if so, a)don't drop it or b)buy a case. Quite simple IT DOES have infrared contrary to reports. As far as I'm concerned it's one of the best phones out there at the moment. If you accept it for what it is, rather than criticise it for what it isn't, then you'll agree.

took possesion of the samsung D500 with great anticipation two days ago.at first glance it looks great all black and shiny.also very light. found the phone very easy to use and you can navigate through the menus with ease. charged it up with the full ninety minutes required,and i was ready to go, should state at this point that i was somewhat disappointed as it only comes with one battery, not very good for a phone which has been given a high standard.if you are to use this phone for business then you will need to charge this phone up every evening.if you unfortunately drop this phone then i feel it will shatter like glass as in my opinion the build quality is not very good.blue tooth did not work on my phone,unable to transmit data to PC or print photos. photos i did take were not any better then my old phone.samsung D410. did not try its much acclaimed MP3 as by this stage i was fed up with it.took it back to carphone warehouse and was told that there were some problems with the Blue tooth system of this particular phone and it may have come from a faulty batch.(i felt as they new of this particular problem in advance)if you already have this phone check to see if the bluetooth works as it could be a real nuisance later on as it was for me.well that's it, in my opinion this phone is over-rated and over-priced.if you already own the Samsung D500 then good luck with it and i hope you have better luck with it then i did!

I havent got this phone yet but ive been lookin at reviews of it and its absolutely outstanding. It shows that Samsung have actually done this market research and come up with their revolution in mobile design and functionality. At last its the first Samsung phone with fully functional Bluetooth and Infrared! Its got an Mp3 player, 1 hour video recorder, video player, 1.3 megapixel camera, Java and much more. This phone is not perfect, as nothing is, but you will only find small shortcomings such as the lack of a memory card slot. This is somewhat relieved by the built in 96mb memory, and also the lack of an fm radio. As for its looks, I have to say this is the phone to be seen with in 2005, i wanted a Nokia before but their design and style leaves a lot to be desired. They should be very worried because this is a phone of the highest quality, and it is selling! Its now only a matter of time until I get mine!

Got the phone a week ago now and it's almost perfect only down side is crap alarm tones you can't change plus no memory card but that's not a major problem as it has 90meg of memory, the rest of it is outstanding with the infra red (which it does have) and bluetooth working perfectly and a really good menu system

Got it at the weekend and haven't put it down since! I had very high expectations of this phone and it hasn't disappointed me at all. Camera quality is as good as anything I've ever seen on a phone. The display is just perfect for a camera phone - bright, sharp and colourful. Black case and styling are soooo sexy. Blootooth works just fine. No problems with any of the functions. Go! Go! Go!

This is THE phone! It promises a lot and looks like it will deliver. Finally with bluetooth and Infra red Fully Functional, 96 mb memory(check official sites for yourself), video player and much. much more! Samsung are on to a winner here!

this phone is great it looks spectacular i really cant wait till this phone comes out i will definately will be getting this this is a must hav for christmas or before its so good does anyone no when it is coming out??? i hear its going to be 400pounds to buy no contract and is this true???
