Reviewed by Bunts on 25-11-2005 I don't understand some people. I want a mobile that I can ring out on, take
calls from, that does a little bit more.
I can do all of this with this phone. It is small enough without being
too small.
I have bunged my alarm clock, cus this phone will do that for you.
The battery life is so good, you have to remember to recharge it.
I have never got round to playing any of the games that come with
the phone, but they are there.
This is my 4th mobile, and it will see me out. I am very happy with it. Rating:

Reviewed by Christina on 20-03-2005 I am in my mid teens & living in England, so i apologise in advance if i dont cover the important facts you want to know about! ok here goes, speaking from extensive experience........ FUNCTIONS: if you are looking for a bog standard phone then this is for you. if you dont want to do anything else than txt and phone then its perfect! but if you are looking 4 a gadget then this is the wrong phone, lack of all features on todays market will disappoint many, for example no bluetooth, camera, mp3 files, MMS, video, radio. but it does have WAP/GPRS & infrared.....however, i have had it over a year and i still havent been able to work the infrared. LOOK: very sleek, some might say long & lanky! buttons very spaced out for ease of use. shiny bits on buttons give it the edge. i totally LOVE the flashy coloured light on the top left corner. it flashes when you recieve texts or someone is phoning you. best of all you can set it on silent, so you dont hear your phone vibrate or ring in your bag, but you can see it flashy colours! plus you dont have to take the phone out of standby to see if you have a txt or not. THE FLASHY LIGHT IS THE BEST BIT OF THIS PHONE. there are random rubber bits to protect the charger hole & a random hole in the back of the phone. the latter fell out on my original phone & the charger rubber bit didnt even come with my replacement phone. so hopefully that means it can still work when dust and sand gets clogged in the mechanism!!! the buttons light up blue, apart from the on/off button on the front which is red. so far no problems turning on/off (with a choice of tones or not for this function). BATTERY: the battery is easy to take off when needed, & is incredibly slim & lightweight. no faults with battery life, seems to match the time that Samsung state. although this phone doesnt have much on it to wear it down, so its not surprising! PRICE: i would say that it is over priced since it doesnt have many gadgets and i have just seen that it is still advertised at over #100 pay as you go...steep! PHONE CALLS: i must admit i am much more of a txter than a phoner (much cheaper on landline!) but whenever i do make or recieve calls the sound clarity isnt too great, you can always hear an echo to your voice, very off putting! also when you recieve a txt when on the phone it nearly deafens you!! TEXTING: before this i had a Nokia 3310, so i found the texting on this phone slow & confusing to use. a year on and im still getting frustrated with the placement of buttons for different functions. its does have cool emoticons, still & animated and some sounds to put into txts. you cannot use ringtones for text alert, there are 10 set tones for text messages. i can store 50 messages in the phone & 20 in the sim. you can choose whether to save a message in the outbox or not when sending, i like this function! as stated in an earlier review you cannot 'teach' the predictive text new words, VERY VERY ANNOYING. SCREEN: the clarity & colour in the screen is superb. this is contradicted by the small size of the screen & the phones inability to accept new moving/still images or pictures. i have tried before and the phone freezed went blank turned itself off, then whe ni turned it back on there was no image, or maybe thats just a fault with my phone. whats the point in a good screen when you cant do anything with it?!! WAP: more problems with the network than the phone, but the small sreen, slowness & freezing didnt help. MENU: not a very quick menu, you have to scroll through everything, but theres not much in it so it shouldnt take you long! i would say that this phone is more suited to a female, due to the menu graphics & screen savers...one of which involes a cute bunny hopping around on the screen, not sure many guys would apreciate that! CUSTOMER SERVICE: i have had 2 Samsung C100's, this is only because the latter one is a replacement. my original phone broke after a few months of having it. it started sending messages to itself which i couldnt delete & they prevented me storing my personal messages. it wasnt even to do with my network or viruses from wap, ringtone companies etc. the technicians @ virgin mobile could not detect that the messages had been sent. so i got a replacement...after about 5 phone calls, not bad since i had nothing to prove over the phone that it had gone wrong. cant fault virgin mobile there. it didnt get round to having to contact Samsung, so i have not had experience of their customer care. SIGNAL: i would give this phone 6/10 on virgin mobile. recently txts have been delayed for over 24hrs, (recieving, no problem sending). when it goes out of signal for a long period of time, e.g at the beach, when it comes back into a signal area it cant pick it up, even when you encourage it to in the network selection menu. this has only started happening in the last few months, so maybe it is hinting to me that it needs to retire & i should move on! VERDICT: as i said i have had this phone for over a year, though it has served me well...with only one major hiccup of gobbledigook annoying random txts!! its time to move on....i crave for more gadgets, less echoey phone calls, easier menus & texting, reliability in finding signal & larger screen! i dont ask for much! if your not as demanding as me then by all means buy one, but dont be disappointed when you realise the price they are still asking isnt worth it. the only thing i will really miss is the flashy light, if i was basing my review upon that then it would get 5*'s! but unfortunatly all aspects have to be taken into consideration, resulting in a dissappointing 2*'s due to its boredom!! sorry for such a long winded review....i got a bit carried away! hope it helps. Reviewed by on 20-04-2004 this is very good phone for the price - not all manufacturers give you 65000 col screen at this price. only maybe the lack of mms and the fact that you can't add your girlfriends name to the dictionary is what i can complain about. All in all a really good phone worth buying. Rating:
Reviewed by Laura on 31-01-2004 Aesthetically perfect, functionally poor. After buying this phone I expected a lot from it - and I wasn\'t disappointed in terms of the graphics and overall quality of the phone. There was, however, one main big problem which made the phone unusable for me. The T9 function (predictive text) will not let you add new words to the dictionary. This means that whenever you need to type in a word such as a name, an abbreviation, a town, a swear word etc - you get the picture - you have to type it all in individually and it flips from predictive to normal input text. When you are doing it for every third or fourth word, it becomes more than a tad irritating and a full-blown annoyance. If you use predictive text then this phone is unworkable and will drive you up the wall. If you don\'t text, it is fine. I, however, do not fall into that category. Rating:

Reviewed by kristy on 28-12-2003 my last phone was a nokia 3310 so as you can imagine this is a lot better. it is much better than any other phones i have looked at and the colour screen is suberb. I have had this phone since christmas and have had no problems whatsoever so far. there are wonderful little animated images on the menu screens, and a fair choice of wallpapers. the polyphonic tunes are unique, although a more conventional \"ring ring\" tone would be appropriate in addition to these. what shocked me the most was the huge storage capacity. there is room for about 600 phone numbers, and 50 text messages. for each name in the phone book you can store a home, business and mobile number in addition to an email address. has good games, and you can download more JAVA\'s. it coems with bowling, which is repetitive but amusing, and a bizarre pacman type thing that i have not yet mastered. non-JAVA games are a silly little png-pong type game and a bizarre hamster box thing. another bonus is the amazingly light weight. this is because of a special lithium-polymer battery which has never before been used in phones of this class. the phone is also tiny, when i opened the box i literally couldn\'t see it and thought they\'d forgoten to put the phone in. this phone does not have the ability to sedn/recieve MMS, although most people wouldn\'t use this feature a great deal anyway the best phone in its class, no doubt about it Rating:

Reviewed by Chris Lewis on 19-10-2003 This phone could have been fantastic, looks great, lots of features and a realistic price. But after trying 3 sets in under a week I gave up. Unfortunately it would appear this model has a major floor. Everything seems ok to start with, but all of a sudden it will either return to the PIN entry screen or shut down altogether, once it starts doing this the problem then seems to get worse as the first one I had was ok for a couple of days then after the first time it did this the glitch happened more and more frequently. If Smasung fix this problem I would have no hesitation in recomending the phone, but until then beware. Rating:

The battery is superslim and powerful. The grey areas of this phone are lack of blue tooth connectivity and its size. I personally prefer the size of nokia 8310 so its a little big acc to me. Reviewed by sunjoo on 16-08-2003 When firstly you take this phone, you'll be surprised by a small thickness of the case (17mm). Engineers could reach this effect due to a lithium-polymer battery (firstly applied in the phones of this class). This battery has 720mAh capacity. According to the manufacturer, it could provide up ot 3 hours of talking time and up to 145 of standby time. In reality the handset operated about 4 days in case of 10 minutes of talking per day (Beeline network) and up to 15 minutes of using other applications. Time of full charging is about 2 hours. The phone has optimal dimensions (111x45x17 mm). It is neither large, nor small. It weighs 76 g., what allows to wear it as you like. We think that this model has a well-developed form-factor. A double volume key is placed on the left-hand side of the phone. IrDA is also positioned there. Most of manufacturers consider that IrDA is unnecessary in the model of this price segment, but Samsung decided to increase demands to the phones of this class and set it. The phone's exterior is rather unusual, side edges are raised and the keypad is placed deep into the phone. There are no problems while pressing side keys; you don't touch the edges. All keys are made of plastic, they are well spaced and have middle size. The keypad is comfortable, it has a blue backlighting, but characters are not always visible. The screen is located above the keypad. It is not large by sight, but has a resolution of 128?128 pixels. It allows to show up to 5 text lines and 1 service line. This phone is equipped with UFB-65K display. In the sunny day the information won't be clearly visible. Even when you are inside, it is difficult to say that this dispay is really capable to support up to 65000 colors. The picture is not sharp, color rendering is worse than on similar clamshell phones from Samsung. But it is necessary to remember that C100 is a middle class handset and in this group it doesn't have any rivals as regarded to screen quality. Phonebook. You can store up to 500 phone numbers in the phonebook. Up to 3 numbers (home, office and mobile) and e-mail address can be added to one entry. When you create a new contact, you are offered, firstly, to choose a phone number type and then to enter it. Auxiliary numbers can be entered from the edit submenu, not at once. Such arrangement has both advantages and disadvantages. It depends on how often you enter contacts with one phone number. Messages. It\'s possible to keep up to 50 messages in the phone memory and it is not by chance. Actually, the phone supports EMS standard. So, there is a good set of icons, melodies, sounds and animation in the phone. A rather unusual set of smiles is also placed here. Funny faces have now a body. You can easily personalize your phone menu. You can set language, wallpaper (by default phone has 22 animations). FINAL VERDICT: This phone has an excellent reception quality. It didn't have any problems. Volume of the sound is high. 40-tones polyphony is also loud; you can easily hear it when the phone is under clothes. Sometimes you can miss calls in too noisy places. In this case a vibrating alert can help you. It is average, but you can fill it rather well, probably because of the thin case. Lithium-polymer battery is the other virtue of this handset. It decreases the phone's weight and allows using a handset for a long time without re-charging. If you don't talk much, you can use approximately 5-6 days. I didn t find evident shortcomings and technical bugs. Originally the phone is stable and it is a great advantage of it. In the near future this phone will become one of the most popular models from Samsung and repeats success of Samsung R200/210. Samsung C100 will be available in July in the shelves of the shops and an expected price is about 150 USD. It will make the phone very popular, as there are not similar models for such price on the market. Among novelties, C100 stands out by its technological functions, which are for the first time used in the phone of the middle class. I think that namely Samsung C100 will be an outstanding product in 2003 and may be even the best in its class. Rating:
