Samsung A300

Product Rating

Samsung A300 The Samsung A300 is a very stylish phone, with its silver case, flip design and cool external display. The external screen shows you the name/number of anyone who calls, as well as the signal strength and battery level.

The infra-red modem enables the Samsung A300 to easily interface with a laptop for example. The A300 does lack a few features that some other phones have, such as downloadable polyphonic ringtones. However, the phone is very user-friendly, "feels" good in the palm, and just looks great!

The Samsung A300 has been a huge success, and is simply an excellent all-round phone. You might want to consider the new Samsung A800, which offers enhanced features and an updated design, and is also available for free on selected tariffs.

Features of the Samsung A300 include:

  • Large 6-line internal display plus external display
  • Predictive text messaging
  • 48 ringtones plus ringtone compose
  • WAP Phone memory
  • Built-in infra-red modem
  • Caller display
  • Downloadable screensavers
  • Size: 81 x 42 x 22 mm
  • Weight: 83g
  • Battery standby: 80 hours
  • Battery talktime: 4 hours
  • Vibration alert
  • Dual band

Wow, beautiful. I will always remember this phone. waking up on dark mornings to that blue hue from the front screen and those angelic alarm tones. V. cool, reliable phone. suprisingly small for an old phone and the reception was actually good. Battery was rubbish though and limited conectivity. Still cool though!

So basically, gathering from all the negative comments we end up with: No games. Plus most of them I can expect to be naive children who think Cameras, colour screens etc mean a good phone. They are the standard for today but a phone is a phone. You use it to make calls and texts. Its a nice design, revolutionary make and reliable. Fair enough the battery wasn't good enough but cmon.. You'd rather pick up on no games. Kids nowadays.

this is the strongest phone and most reliable phone ever. I have dropped it loads of times. ( off climbing frames mostly which are more than 6ft high) It has never broken and i doubt it will. it is really compact especially if you get the stubby aerials off ebay!!!

holy cow this is the best phone ever-mainly because it is indestructable. i have even tried to break this armour like phone but nothing happens. i only use the samsung a300 as a back up phone because times have moved on and my sony erricson w300i is and awesome phone-of course that is now broken and getting repaired. my samsung a300 is a second hand phone everything about it is almost flawless, the texting is a bit slow but the predictive text is as good as that of a sony ericcson. this phone is pretty basic, having no games but i have fun using the melody composer, i have not experienced quiet ringtones like so many other people. my advice to anyone with not much money or wanting a reliable back up phone this is the one to buy. i agree battery life is a bit naff but iv got two batterys for it and that seems to do the trick. while all other phone will break and become faulty this will not, as i have just thrown it down my stairs again and it is still perfectly fine. im not one for writing reviews but i couldnt help my slef

I've had mine for six years and it is still going strong. It is a very robust unit, though now some of the softer plastics, such as those used to cover the headphone socket, are beginning to split. It has survived years in my pocket with keys to scratch, and considering this it doesn't look bad. It's dimensions still rivel modern clamshells in everything but slimness. Any gripes? Well yes. It is difficult and time consuming to text on this phone. I've never, ever, found a use for infered. The reception can be a bit dodgy at times. And the battery life isn't fantastic. But despite all this I'm very fond of it and only now am I thinking of finding a replacement. If you want a simple (and tiny) phone for texting and calls - then it's great.

I have had the A300 now for about 3years. But just recently i find my reception is awful. It never use to be like this. Also i am finding i am receiving txts a day late or a few hours late. Also just recently it is taking at least 10 attempts to send a message. Whether the phone is just worn out now i dont know, but i have looked after it well and are unsure why it is doing this. It's not great to receive a txt a day late, because it could be important and the time has passed. Anyone else expereinced any of these problem?

I\'ve had this phone for nearly a year. It looks stylish and works well but have had a few problems compared to a nokia. You can\'t save words into the predictive text, even though the manual says you can, so you have to type them manually everytime. There are no games. You can\'t have vibrate and ring at the same time, unless my phone is just faulty? And the battery runs out within a day. but it looks great and it does its job

I've owned this phone for over a year now and I have to say I still love it! My phones have a very hard life getting dropped and knocked (even buried in sand after being trodden on by a horse!!). It's simple to use and very reliable. OK you don't get games and the the batteries are not that great - although having 2 more than makes up for that. It does look a little worn now but I'm so amazed it is still in one piece and working I don't care. Because they are small enough to go in any pocket you can take them everywhere which probabley means they have to be tough to survive. I'm now upgrading to the samsung s300 but I will keep this phone as a useful spare. This is the phone for people who want to do much, much more than just look good. If you know you are active GET IT.

not a bad looking phone but very quiet ringtones and message alert can be annoying nice and small but reasonably thick so not as compact as it could be outside screen a lifesaver at times i would not really recommend this phone as i have just switched over to the nokia 3510i and they are worlds apart
