Reviewed by Kerry on 25/11/2010 Should have stuck with my N95! Had nothing but hassle from day one. Keeps switching itself off so then I have to take the battery off to get it going again. Internet very glitchy although I have very good signal strength. To top it all the switch guard slider has broken. Now I can't access my phone, only receive calls. I'd think twice if you're considering purchasing the N6. On the upside...........fabulous for texting! Rating:

Reviewed by Sue on 22/11/2010 I have always kept with Nokia for my mobiles and never been disapointed - until now! This phone functioned reasonably well until the 7 day period was up and then crashed continually. On a full charge it gave battery low messages and then shut down or just re-started randomly and asked for all the time and date settings each time it re-started. Sending it back for repair I was informed it had no fault. Further investigation proved it had been with the engineer for a mere 1 hour! Dodgy phone! Rating:

Reviewed by M Mc Allister on 19/11/2010 Just got a nokia x6 3 weeks ago and I am on to my second one already and probably my third by the time today is over. The same problem has occurred with both of them in that I can not get a wireless internet or any other kind of internet connection. thinking it was my stupidity and using the phone incorrectly I took it to the orange shop where i got it and yes there was a problem with internet connection. The girl in the shop was sooo helpful and arranged for me to receive another but the same thing is happening with this one. So back to the orange shop today. otherwise it is a gr8 mobile Rating:
Reviewed by Daryl on 18/11/2010 I am suprised this phn gets such varied reviews. My girlfriend has the Nok 5800 which is a great phone.....a great middle range phone. But the X6 does have the problem 'on some tunes' of the speakers not being able to handle full volume, however, it is a better quality of sound than the 5800, and the speakers are louder on most tunes. Personally this suits me better than say the HTC Desire, which apparantly has a lower battery life, and just one speaker, and just a 5mpixel camera. The internet is pretty good on the X6 but does admitadly crash at times for no reason. The streaming is great with 3 possible ways to download from you tube(if you also download the you tube app from ovi). All have there merits for streaming, like better quality or lower and cheaper data costs,or just different views of you tube. It is a pain to use the web version of fb, but works fine if you download Opera for free, and opera also cuts down the data costs for browsing. So, maybe the HTC would have been a better buy for a all round web experience. The battery life on the x6 is better it seems, and certainly isnt a dissapointment. the X6 also has a 5mpixel camera, but apparantly according to mobile phones uk(the sister site to here), it is all about the optics with a quality camera, and the X6 isnt a let down. Reviewed by Charlie on 15/11/2010 Had potential to be a great phone, but failed. I have my x6 a few days now and find more and more things that bother me on a daily basis. I had the 5530 before this which I may swtich back to. There is an issue with the left speaker were some mp3s (usually with big bass notes) are VERY fuzzy. I checked the nokia forums and it seems to be a common issue with this model. The only way around the problem is to set the volume slightly below maximum. I like how the touchscreen is super sensitive compared to the 5530 however I still find myself tapping serveral times on the send button and other buttons. The Gallery and Music folders also take a lot longer to open than the 5530 which I don't understand as this is supposed to be a more powerful handset. I think this website over-rated this phone completely. I can't believe the speaker issue wasn't even mentioned as this is a common fault with this phone. The back cover is, once again, a cheaply made piece of plastic. Front, looks great, feels strong, but the back... feels like something I'd buy my 6yr old to play with. I've always stuck with nokia (God knows why) but I think this will certainly be my last! Rating:

Reviewed by misscrich on 14/11/2010 This is the worst phone I have ever come across! Do not waste your money. The touch screen is irresponsive and freezes all the time. While I am on the phone my ear touches either the silent or the hold button and I constantly cut off my communication. It is really annoying! It hardly ever syncs with the nokia ovi and the apps never get to the phone. Even to write messages the buttons are so close to each other they often get mixed up. It is not even user friendly and it takes ages for any page to download. Do not recommend at all Rating:

Reviewed by Tim on 17/10/2010 I have had so many problems with this phone it's unbelievable! I have always had Nokias and have never previously had any problems. However in the three months I've had this phone I have had the following problems: 1. Touch screen freezes. 2. Won't call anyone first attempt. 3. Turns off randomly. 4. Side strips feel off whilst in my pocket. 5. Touch screen doen't work when using the keypad for texting 6. The battery is only lasting a couple of hours at the moment and 7. Completely broken and won't load as I write this! Don't by this phone! Rating:
Reviewed by Paul on 15/10/2010 I'm now on my 2nd x6. My first suffered poor reception, this one is better but still has a big problem. If you use it in portrait (how most will use the phone I feel), cup it with your left hand and signal can drop from full to 1 bar, if its only on 1 bar in the first place you've guessed it no signal! I don't know why nokia put the aerial on the bottom. If you turn it upside down look at the improvement in reception!!!If you always use it in landscape, won't have problem, and generally not a problem in calls either, its just often people won't be able to call you if using it cos will sometimes be on zero reception. Not a problem with my n95 8gb on same network, both set to 2G only. The other problem is the lack of RAM causing things to freeze and crash. However plus points include a decent camera, excellent music player and OVI music store, built in GPS works well, and a sensible size to fit in the pocket. But I still have kept my n95 8gb rather than selling it cos I don't feel I can always rely on my X6. This one has an orange light on back permenantly slightly lit (doesn't seem to have any effect on decent battery life). Rating:

Reviewed by Daniel on 07/10/2010 Having read the reviews here (to see if i can pick up anymore tips etc and softwate/apps that may be useful) it looks like some people are getting frustrated with this phone from expecting too much from a phone. Maybe others are used to an amazing phone, so the X6 seems poor in comparison. Many pcs, phones, laptops have bugs or get them......and there are many useful ways to upgrade the phone if desired...loads! of ways it seems. I have been with Virgin, and they have an outstanding technical team to help people with any issue. A great way to do a complete shut down that is far better for helping bugs than "restoring factory settings"(worked on my 5800 when the imap/pop email bugged the phone, and stopped me calling out unless i switched the connectivity to GSM or UMTS rather than dual mode;and also messed my homescreen up and stopped me viewing the shortcuts) is by putting *#7370# into the dialer. The phone will say restart phone or similar after you do this, and it will totally refresh the phone. You even have to re-subscribe to Nokia and send a 10p text as the phone will be reset to as new again. And by being subscribed you then get free useful texts and access to Ovi stores,Ovi music etc....and then you need to create an account,or just type in your old account details. This makes it easier to buy stuff from there onwards from Ovi,(or download the free apps). However if anyone does this reboot, shut down.......then you must do a back up first of all contents..(found in File manager on the 5800) and Office, File manager on the X6. I still think the X6 is an outstanding phone. I guess i just love the music links, you tube, and more about this phone. Rating:

Screen freezes, internet slow, signal problems, strange texting 'bugs'. The camera is terrible, all indoor shots are blurred & washed out, despite the Xenon flash which just seems to blind its subjects. On the plus side, the sound quality is excellent. Maybe I'm being unfair & I need to give it a bit more time to prove itself but it'd better hurry up or i'll be returning it before my cooling off period expires. Rating:
Reviewed by gwauk on 26/09/2010 This is an additional update to my reviews of 04 and 12 July. If you want to enhance your X6's user interface try the SPB shell. This gives you up to five extra screens and a plethora of widgets plus the ability to easily and quickly revert to standard home screen if required. It costs about £20 downloaded, works very well and only requires a small amount of memory (recommend installing on the memory card). Google for the SPB website (or Handango)and check it out. Reviewed by Daniel on 26/09/2010 I checked many reviews on this site before getting the X6 o n a contract a week or so ago. And i am pleased i read many of the reviews here. I already had the nokia 5800 which was just about to end on the contract, so i was and am familiar with this X6. Personally i think this is a bit overpriced if you pay for it, but hey...it's a great phone. The only thing i would say is its so close to the 5800 that it seems they haven't changed much but the look. But it is better, it's an alround user friendly phone than the 5800, and it does seem faster..maybe. Downloading the free Opera browser from the Ovi Store makes browsing far quicker. The built in speakers are larger, the bluetooth headphones are great if you like dancing without the wires nearby. So, a very good improvememt in quality of the 5800(but very similar). And as for the flimsy plastic back that was a concern of others......well its fine as long as you are careful and gently take it on off. And it is a bett er back cover than the 5800( which comes with a stylus). The X6 does't have a stylus as the screen work well with finger touch(the 5800 works with nail touch, so needs a stylus). And i haven't had the X6 crash on me as happens on the 5800. So, from an excellent predecessor there is now the outstanding X6. Rating:

Reviewed by Amy on 19/09/2010 I upgraded to this phone from my previous Nokia 5800 and I am so disappointed with this X6. So much for a capacitative screen, it can take me several attempts to 'press' someting for it to register - for examply turning off the alarm in the morning, I find I have to use different fingers as most of the 'presses' just dont work ! If the screen has any dirt or grease on it then it stops being a touch screen ! Damn thing freezes, randomly shuts down web pages, it is a nightmare to download songs onto it from PC, and Im not sure if I have to 'click' an application twice or once. Also it has a nasty habit of deleting messages as you write them, so you keep going back and forth to finally send a text. Annoying piece of rubbish, not worth the money. Good camera though and good sound quality. Battery life is sufficient. Rating:

Reviewed by gbensho on 14/09/2010 I have always used Nokia phones and just acquired the X6 on the back of the outstanding performances of my e71. Getting round my X6 was pretty much easy because it shares so many operating similarities with the 5800 and not much to set them apart especially the not so fantastic browsing capabilities. It feels comfortable to hold and goes about it's duties as efficiently as it can although it shouldn't have pretensions as to being in the same class as other high end Nokia models.I would probably rate it as just a marginal improvement on the 5800 and should not really be taken seriously as a smart phone. Reviewed by SupaChronic on 12/09/2010 I've been using s60v3 in Nokia 5700 xpressmusic since 3 years and has now upgraded to s60v5 by getting an X6 16gb. So, it has carried the gene and I learned it easily. I was impressed by the looks, it looks hot. My friends liked it too (that's all I wanted). Then the bad happened. I tested the headset but couldn't hear any beats (excluding the rest of the music). The headset keys didn't work. I went to the dealer and he refused the replacement request. He advised me to go to the Nokia Care center and WITHIN AN HOUR OF THE PURCHASE, I HAD TO GO TO THE NOKIA CARE! I hated this. They took the headset and told me it'll be replaced in a week. But the phone is nice and it's screen is shiny and lustrous (women can lock the screen and continue with their make up :D). It has a huge memory and it 'comes with music' at my place. so yay! The touchscreen is big and extremely sensitive (an edge for my high speed typing). Yes you can type with a high speed! External sound quality is impressive and I've always loved nokia browsers. In-build facebook app is awesome. GPS is good and it made a pretty good connection. Navigation with OVI maps is wonderful. OVI store has lots of apps and Nokia has always been the best in the number of compatible applications. Don't worry about the bugs. I haven't found a bug yet. I don't know why it always connects to the internet even all applications are closed. But no big deal. Yeah OS is a bit laggy but I've got used to it. The performance is elevated by the use of apps like SMS preview, Opera mini 5, Xplore, ucweb 7.2, Divx player, etc. Camera takes good pictures and great videos. Videos are played in a high quality near to HD. I wanted AMOLED screen but its okay. UI is good looking and handy (I wanted more applications on the shortcuts bar). Battery life is impressive. One thing that disappointed me is that Nokia didn't even provide a cover for the high end phone! I had to purchase one. Also a TV out cable is missing (they proudly said it can be connected to a TV). Overall its a good experience to have this phone and I advice a buy. (Don't buy it if you don't like a little bit slow OS). It has a plastic body that looks weak and breakable but I trust nokia for safety. Yeah lock key is loose but I don't think its a problem. One last advice, If you can spend a little more, go for an N8 instead. Rating:

Reviewed by John on 02/09/2010 Ive had this phone since march 2010 and cant find any faults with it,my best feature about it is the ovi sat nav which is free and can be set up so you dont get any data charges from your network provider,Fonebox set mine up for free as they are nokia and samsung engineers and nokia are pushing their customers to use the sat nav also so with the wifi you can connect to your home wireless router and use your own broadband provider connection when you're at home so again you wont get any data charges for browsing the web and just like the iphone you can get plenty of apps from the ovi store many of which are free. Reviewed by Arttu on 28/08/2010 I love this phone, it has its issues but let's not be too critical!! Its best model of Nokia and i think, well you can have very different thoughts about this phone, but this is even better than an iPhone. The 32gb memory, great sound system, camera better than average, very neat design, clear and responsive touchscreen of anti-scratch glass, quick access to contacts and tones and tones more. Don't know about you guys but for me this phone works exellently. 5/5 Rating:
Reviewed by Paul on 26/08/2010 Great on paper and when testing, rather frustrating in practice. The touch screen though far more responsive than the 5800 is still too slow, its the processor and lack of RAM that are to blame I think. The RAM is also the reason for the constant freezing and quitting of applications, it simply doesn't have enough memory free. 128MB when the OS takes 100MB is not enough. GPS reception is OK but locking onto to the satellites is a HIT or miss affair. Sometimes it'll do it in seconds, other times 2 hours and still failed. Reception is also good when testing it, beating my N95 on the kitchen floor keep the signal test, but in day to day use the N95 is superior as the aerial is not covered up when you hold it and is on the top rather than the base of the phone as here. On the plus side the camera is very high quality, the music player sounds good, and the web browser (or opera if you prefer) is nice to use with the touchscreen. But mine is gathering dust whilst my N95 8 GB now has my sim card in it. Its just more enjoyable to use. Rating:
Reviewed by Paul on 26/08/2010 Not reliable. Thats the problem with the X6. Great when I'm testing it and messing about but when I want to use it lets me down. It wins the reception test vs N95 on the kitchen floor but due to poor antenna placement on the bottom of the phone where you want to hold it, I'm often on no signal on this, very rare on the N95. Got the N95 8GB 2nd hand cos I needed better reception. Whats suprising, apart from the x6 being better on that front if you don't hold it, is how much more enjoyable the n95 8gb phone is to use on a day to day basis. I don't think nokias touch screen is responsive enough, and there simply isn't enough free memory, meaning things freeze and crash far too often. Symbian 5 is a bit flawed and nokia needs to go to android or something better if it wants to compete with modern touchscreen phones. Gaming is also far better on n95 8gb with ngage support. Yes the screen is better on the x6 for web browsing if it doesn't crash, and there's 32GB of glorious memory (though the more you fill it the slower the music player gets!). Nokia need to increase the processor speed, double the RAM and then it could be the phone it should be. X7 perhaps. In the meanwhile I'm using a 3 year old N95 8gb and preferring it. Oh dear nokia! Its still good the X6. You have a great camera, excellent sound quality and GPS but its too frustrating to use. The wifi failed to connect to free wifi in hotels that my itouch had no problem with too. If you love music and get the comes with music unlimited music downloads for 1 year tariff, that could make it worth buying. Rating:

Worst though is the poor signal strength, even if you do hold the phone at the top, my old 6300 has Much,Much better signal. How stupid to put aerial where it's natural to hold the phone.(even Apple got that wrong!) Don't buy this if you have any questions about signal strength. Rating:

Reviewed by PTT on 07/06/2010 Outstanding fone ! Connectivity is excellent especially in weak gsm areas with no 3g network. Works best if mobile network is set at gsm only. Battery lasts quite long especially due to its 1320mAh power. Capacitive Touch screen is extremely sensitive and better compared to resistive touch screen. 5MP camera is good especially with Carl Zeiss. The only inconvenience encountered is the sliding action screen lock button especially when a protective latex casing is used. Sould be like samsung....push button. Music player is just superb ! I just love this fone ! Rating:
Reviewed by Paul Tasker on 07/04/2010 Gurdeep. I fully agree with you on reception problems but I've found a solution and its all down to how you hold the phone. Grasp it round the base and you cover up the aerial dropping the signal to very few bars or in poor reception areas nothing. Not had a problem with calls but when browsing web or holding it to text the signal will drop to zero at times. Too often. Hold it either side of the top and the reception is as good as anything else I've used. Use it in landscape mode and it also improves as the aerial is higher up. NOKIA! What a basic design flaw, same problem also with 5800. The aerial should be on the top of a phone where it gets the best signal. Its not rocket science. A shame cos its quite a likeable phone this. The capacitative screen works great with opera mini 5, and provides a good browsing experience. My comes with music tarriff gives me unlimited downloads. Other issues are it needs more ram and a quicker processor. It can multitask but doesn't really do it very quickly. Call quality and texting is good but I've kept a trusty basic phone for times when this thing won't pick up a signal. Put it upside down in your pocket if you want it to not lose the network! Also try a firmware update. Much quicker and less prone to freezing/slow loading since upgrade. Connect it to PC to perform this, nokias over air updater won't find anything. Wifi is really quick and easy on mine so it may be a router issue that is causing problems, ensure its set to correct password system type and the password is correct. Try opera mini 5 which is much quicker than default browswer and nicer to use. Good but not great sums this up. Although fantastic but seriously flawed would be an even more accurate summary. If you live in the middle of nowhere AVOID this one if you wanna make calls or text. Rating:
Reviewed by 01/04/2001 on 05/04/2010 I would have rated this phone excellent but for the short usb cable which is only 4 inces long and the headphones cable which wouldnt even reach a childs pocket let alone an adults. Have the length of a normal headphone cable. I bought this phone so i could walk and listen to music, radio, audio books. Boy have I been let down. Battery doesnt last on standby for as long as I expected either. I've had this phone for a few weeks now and I'm still haivng to search for apps that seem to be in the wrong places. Ovi maps is very confusing but as I have sat nav in my car its not a problem. Apart from these issues i like the phone. Screen is great and the camera takes pretty good pics. Rating:
Reviewed by Gurdeep on 02/04/2010 I just bought one, im having reception issues, this has nothing to do with the network, when i put the same sim card into another phone i get full coverage. The email sync function was working brillerintly for the first 2 days than after that a blank grey bay display on my screen where my email updates use to come through. I cant get rid of the blank bar nor can i get email alerts anymore. Connecting to wifi is a pain. Once i do get connected i cant even surf the net. Lots of bugs. The only good things is the large memory for storing your songs, ovi maps which can be use in 74 countries for free and the 5mg camera. Too many bugs, too slow and it doesnt always follow your commands. Rating:
