I like this phone.This phone is a multimedia phone. This phone is basically the N95 but looks like the N81. I have had no problems with this phone at all but some time time it go hang, and my battery lasts at least 3 or 4 days. All these haters on here must be fanboy/girls of other phones. Much like theXbox 360/PS3 fans. Seriously I love this phone and have no complaints what so ever. Loue u so much n96.

i have been using nokia phones ever since they first came out think i've used every module and the n96 is the worse phone i've ever had the battery life is bad i've had 2 batterys in a year and this one blows out after 5mins of charging it when somebody rings me' Oh and as for crashing its ridiculas. So i think its goodbye nokia for me and will getting a htc android phone which my wife has and it makes this phone look silly.

In my opinion, the N96 is better than the N95 just the timing was wrong. The N8 is my must have phone for right now though. I have a soft spot for Nokia.

I have had this phone for nearly 24 months now, and it is possibly THE worst phone i have ever owned. I got the N96 after having an LG cookie, which i couldnt stand either. I got the N96 since there was a huge hype about it, and it was considered to give the Iphone a run for its money. How wrong they were! I got this phone on 02, for a rediculously expensive contract for what it is. And within 3 months of having it, the phone crashed, and would not open any applications. After my THIRD replacement, i got sick and tired of trying to open the applications and the phone crashing, that i gave up, and have been since just using the phone for the basics, texting and phoning people. The phone itself looks great in my opinion, but the plasticy case scratches far to easily. The screens brightness is also superb. however, the phone is extremley slow. It takes a good 20 seconds to open a text. My phone also has a bug where i cannot recieve a text without turning the phone of and on again. I cannot wait until tomorrow when i finally get to upgrade to a HTC desire, an extremley superior phone. If you are considering getting this phone, SERIOSULY DONT BOTHER.

One of my friends used this phone and he told me that root ic of this phone damaged entirely within months. Also its unable to repair. Phone is completly dead ... Before getting a single scratch on it

I dont know why people on this site are too free, they made me miss buying Htc 3g touch with their much negativity which made it look like a toy. To my suprise a friend of mine who has it its far better than the n96 i resorted to. Any one who wants to buy any gadget just go for it. Some of these writter have their own problems. They are worth ignoring.

its a rubbish phone this is the second time im going to have to finance to fix the screen it was 50 quid the last time as the screen was mixed and blur ,not like i didnt look after my phone ,battery powers rubbish and as it went on me at work its now decidided to stay black ,just great ,,technology i had a 30 quid brick tht lasted ,if fact it probly still works now ,,i refuse to upgrade any more as im sure there designed to break after a while ive not had this one more than a year so nokia im moveing on !!

Im Using the Nokia N96-1 phone now. Its NOT bonded to any network. I must say for me, this phone is just fantastic! It offers me everything I wanted. I do had little customizations like "Opera mobile 10 Web browser" which delivers the fastest and user friendly Web contents, and "cClock" application for the time and date display as the screensaver (as in N73 etc). A lot of 3D games lets me spend time on leisure hours. Music, its awesome! For me its just as the 5800 XM. Sterio widening, equalizer, bass booster, what more to expect of great quality? I have songs for 4 days and 34 minutes still it shows 9.2 GB free with the excellently recorded videos and captured pictures. (Im still testing on Movie conversion) E-mail, Nokia Maps and a lot more. Size does not matter to me as I prefer big screens. I even read PDF Books using my N96! Most out of it haa? 5MP camaraa is great with Dual Flash LED. As said by most people, its Battery wont let do a lot for the day but average use, it will last for 1&1/2 to 2 days. (Im testing on using the N95-8GB battery in this phone currently) And it is not yet the Very Quickest phone, But Im totally satisfied. It IS Truly a Hand Held Computer......

almost at the end of my two year contract. Finally. I have this useless lump of plastic. It's the worst phone i have ever owned and the lush camera of which people speak never ever attains focus. 2 years is too long to be landed with a poor phone. :-(

I have this phone in black color.It fantastic!and much more smarter that the other Nokia N series mobiles.Its easy to operate and also pretty attractive.16GB memory,5mp camera,N-gage and etc,it has every thing u need s0 why go 4 any other phone?

i have used the N96 on the Zin network since 2008 May. It is slow, with the functions taking up to 10 seconds to activate. Sometimes, the phone frezes and the battery has to be brought out and switched on again. It's 2010 October and I want to change it now and I must say I am disappointed with the phone. My expectations were high.

I love this phone to utmost..critics are always there but I would say,just use it and feel the difference...gives you confidence and a smooth slide whenever you pick a call. And inbuilt memory gives competitive advantage to N96

Music player is rubbish. Playlists too difficult to set up. All my music not recognized. Bluetooth connection highly unreliable. My cheap Samsung J700 knocks spots of it. I will never buy another Nokia.

amazing phone, slow on a few occassions but i found out that you can defrag the phone harddrive on windows or anyother OS system on a pc or laptop, its fast, easy (even though settings are dodgy and need time to learn what it changes) best phone iv had so far, very good service but the network im on doesnt support 3G but hey it has WIFI and my internet is fairly quick so it hasnt let me down soo far. could use a better battery but its easy to replace, the signal is amazing almost anywhere and id recomend this to the usual nokia phone buyer. could use a few tweeks but all in all 4/5

On a whole its quite a lovely piece, changing from potrait to landscape takes 4ever. Large amount of space so I can perfectly walk around with my data. Its crashes a lot for no reason and of late I've having some problems with the screen. All the same its not that bad after all..

AVOID AT ALL COST! Pros: 16Gb on board memory, with option to add an SD card. You can make phone calls on it... Cons: Looks like a brick. The "Carl Zeiss" stand is pointless and useless, the phone just falls over when you try to use it. Takes around 20 seconds to open a new text. The phone randomly crashes, to the point where you have to pull the battery out to restart it. Slow as a snail. Battery life sucks, expect to charge it at least once a day. It randomly loses name-number associations, so you will receive a text from a contact but it only displays the number, confusing and annoying. The camera is so slow to kick in, if you want to capture (picture or video) expect to be waiting around for over a minute as the camera starts up. Avoid this stinker even if your life depends on it. I'm giving this 1 star cos thats the lowest I can go, if I could give it a zero I would. GARBAGE!

I currently use an n96, and i am really enjoying it it has falling from my hands so many times i just pick it up and reassemble and it continues working . Nice phone buy one for yourself

This is the worst mobile phone ever invented! Battery does not last a second, keeps frezing and it is sooooooo slow when trying to open an internet page. Highly disappointed.

dont think about buying this phone it continually crashes the software cannot support the applications installed u will probably have to send it back to your network provider to upgrade software

I have had the N96 for some time,I love it. I use it constantly all day for phone calls and taking photos of jobs. I would say its the best nokia i have had.

useless, garbage. I'm at the end of my 18 month contract on ORANGE and in this time i have had three brand new N96 handsets. Took it back to the shop with numerous faults and after being sent away for repair, i had to be issued with a new phone every time as the factory couldn't resolve the problems. The list includes battery life almost non-existant, screen died but phone still switched on meaning i couldn't see or do anything on it, the phone keeps disconnecting calls with full signal bars, phone switches itself on and off during any type of operation, the earpiece has a buzzing, crackling, clicking sound on calls. These are just a few of the software problems that i can remember. Hardware problems have been, dust and dirt getting under the screen suggesting poor seals. The tiny keyboard at the bottom of the phone makes it impossible for a normal human to use it for any length of time without getting cramped thumbs. That is he you don't drop the phone. It is anato mically impossible to hold this phone with a decent grip, ie near the middle of the phone, and get your thumbs down to use the tiny keyboard. My network is orange, two of my friends had the phone, one on O2 the other on vodaphone which suggests to me it is a nokia fault and not a network fault. This is a shame as after trying out a few other phones in the part i always opted for the nokia in the end. This phone has made me never want to even consider nokia ever again.

Nokia N96 DON'T BOTHER! Only had 5 months and it's died! Of course, it died straight after our holidays so all my photos/videos of our holiday are completely lost - great huh! I'm a very low user, using it for maximum of 5 texts/day and rarely for calls. Just collected from repairers (under warranty obviously as warranty is 2 years)and now won't work cos they've put it on Vodafone and it was unlocked - great again! Fab experience, not! UTTER RUBBISH - DON'T BOTHER! I've reverted to my faithful Samsung D900i that I've had for 3 years!

N96 is rubbish. Locked into deal. Carphone warehouse wont help.Told me my warranty was only a year Nokia web site says 2.Dont shop there. Chip inside phone cant handle larger memory Will never by Nokia again or shop in car phone warehouse. I signed up for their geek squad no help what so ever.

Ii have had this phone for almost 15 months now. It is the worst phone I have ever owned. The slide mechanism failed after about 3 months, so I am unable to close the phone. It freezes all the time, and occasionally will not allow me to make calls, I have to remove the battery and restart the phone. I have reverted back to the phone I owned before the n96 as I am so fed up with all of its problems.

I actually hate this phone. My husband's gave up less than 12 months into our 18 month contract, mine takes 15 seconds to open a text. 15!!! It might not sound like forever but if you get more than one text in at a time it's forever. I'll never buy a Nokia again, after having the N95 for a day and then getting this, no chance.

if you want a 5mp camera, a calendar that syncs with outlook 2007 and shows the upcoming events on the welcome screen & easy internet access this phone is fanatastic (that is all I wanted it for so I can't speak for the music or games side of it) but be warned - it is a delicate little flower and as I found to my cost it doesn't tolerate any moisture at all. Even walking out in the cold and coming indoors will cause moisture damage, "water ingress" as the technical term goes, which is not covered under the warranty. Look on ebay for damaged N96 phones and you will see what I mean. Having said that I am so enamoured of the phone I have bought another one and will swaddle it to protect it having learned my lesson the hard way

Regretted selling my N95, thought about the 8GB as heard was good, but saw the 96 for £180 in CEX and snapped up. Not sure its as bad as many make out here. Does keep crashing from time to time. Annoying when you've just patiently waited for a large slow WAP download. But otherwise, I really like. Nice looking, but not sure as nice as the 95 nice to use. Keys a bit easier to use than the 95 tho. Pic and video storage good. Like the fast forward selection. Annoyingly doesnt store down loaded MPEG vids on the viewing wheel, but after some head scrathing, found them in the file manager. Sound quality not brill, with or without earphones. My Sony MP3 with high quality phones plugged in, far excells. Handles Nokia's large OVI mobile email package fine, and Yahoo's much smaller and quicker 'Go' email appliction. All in all pretty good, but clearly some problems. Am I keeping after 3 months. Maybe not. Local trade shop doing a carbon arte for £160. Decisions decisions (:

I have been with Nokia for approx ten years.Just bought N96 model last year.I have sent it in loads of times to be repaired at O2.The same things keep happening to phone screen keeps freezing, cant unlock the phone,very slow to start up,radio very poor,message sending problems etc.I think this is Nokias worst model yet.I am still having problems with phone and am no demanding new model.Rubbish phone

I bought this phone about 6 months ago. It is a good phone and has served well over time. The camera is fantastic and speakers are good quality. My only complaints about this phone are that it can often be slow and the navigation keypad can be awkward. Overall, this is a good phone, but I am looking at upgrading to a touch screen soon.

NEVER BUY A N96 THEY ARE THE MOST RUBBISH FONE EVER... AND NEVER USE T-MOBILE EITHER AS THEY ARE JUST AS RUBBISH AS THE PHONE... HAD 4 N96s AFTER THEM BEING CHANGED ON WARRENTY AND THROUGH INSURANCE AND ALL 4 HAD THE SAME PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH T-MOBILE TOLD ME THAT THE SAME FAULT WAS CAUSED BY WATER DAMAGE THE SECOND TIME AND THEN PRESSURE DAMAGE THE 3RD TIME...EVEN THOE THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED ON THE 1ST N96 I HAD AND IT WAS A FAULT ON THE PHONE...

nokia n96. Shuts down twice a day on average, no matter what function i'm using. Got mine jan '09 on contract with t-mobile. Cant complain about them tho they've been xellent. Bluetooth wont connect to my earpiece or my sat-nav where my n70 would (and still does). And they call this progress. The old phones are by far the best. Will never opt for nokia again!!!

The Nokia N96 was rushed out to be put up against the i phone the iphone is a lot better i have got rid of the n96 upgraded 2 an iphone. Bad things about the phone FREEZING.SHUTTING DOWN,LOCKING UP.

dont buy nokia n96 the most worst mobile phone,why?i have this phone when i updated the firmware to something 30.3 in nokia center my camera are dead always error with dialog"camera not supported"and nokia repair center cannot do nothing to working my 5megapixel carl zeiss camera...its a doom very doom and nokia they do nothing.I will not buy nokia again!

i had it for abt a week now and i have to say that i really am indeed sick of it hanging and crashing and hanging all the time. the stand that flicks out at the back of mine is starting to lose its sping like action and is now flopping around every time i shake the phone.

I will be selling my N96 and buying a new phone ASAP!! The Symbian interface is unreliable, slow and awkward to use. This phone also gets damaged very easily, the screens just broken on mine from a minor drop on concrete, something thats happened to me loads with previous Sony Ericssons etc... It feels very flimsy and over-technical. Although the camera and web browsing capabilities are good, i wouldn't recommend this handset to anyone.

I have had this phone on contract on vodafone. Its rubbish. Iv had it a month and cant put up with it anymore, it really is that shocking. Im getting the N97 for christmas, my freind has the N97 mini and iv had a go on it and its really good! I strongly advise people not to get this phone, you might aswell get the upgraded N97 its so much better. Peace out.

I really wanted to like this phone- I love dthe N95, and the N96 has such a huge memory and a giant screen and I thought, great, it will be even better! No, no, no. Its is way too slow, even to show a short text message, takes five or ten seconds which sounds like nothing but can be extremely annoying. It sometimes for no reason doesn't ring when I get a call, or a text. I look at the screen and it says I have a missed call or new message, but it was in my pocket! No other phone has ever don ethat to me. It's very sore on battery life if you leave any application running. Its a bit plasticky for so dear an item, isn't it? Its screen often freezes if you get a call or a text while listening to the MP3 player on it, and everything has to be shut down and brought up again to return the call or answer the text. It cannot do life blog, which was dead handy. As was the N95 side button tat took me directly into my photos, rather than having to go into gallery and from there select from which folder and so on. Direct was alot handier. It is alot of small things like this that add up to a badly thought out upgrade tat is nothing like as good as the old N95, which i will probably just go back to though I will miss having the 16gb memory.

I bought mine on January 2009, and like all the options the phone has. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype at first, and this was mainly due to the lack of firmware update. The latest firmware update is only found in Nokia Europe website, and took some time to track. But once that was done applied [some 130Mb worth], it became the cellphone I now love. There are some troubles still, the most significant is lack of functionality with video ringtones. The only ones that work are those that come from Nokia, and not all times. All in all, I think this phone will suit me for at least another year.

after the update with v30.033 my nokia n96 restarts itself at every 20 miuntes.now nokia block the servers. i hope they will have good news…anyway…nokia are going down….soon…i will never use nokia phones… maybe some old models like 6310i thank u…i know u cant help me, i am sure there is not only a software problem, there is a big hardware problem there… nokia sucks!!!! :( (((((((( does anyone want to buy my nokia n96 ? 50 eur

Worst nokia phone ever, have been with nokia over 10 years, but this phone was truly awful. Promised everything i needed, but performance is rubbish. Slow is an understatement, even for simple tasks such as opening a text message. So many other bad points that it would take too long to mention. Have got it on 3 network, so this phone combined with the 3 network makes it the worse possible contract i could have been tied down too.

Too big. Too slow. Randomly powers itself off. Randomly freezes. No smileys in the txt symbols or ability to display incoming special symbols. No ring tone through the headphones if you receive a call while listening to music/radio. Battery indicator not accurately reflective of remaining power. Dust behind screen after a couple of months careful ownership. Generally a half-hearted attempt to be all things to all men and instead merely serves to be a poor jack-of-all-trades. Very disappointed

If anybody has owned one they will tell you how Poor this is, crashes all the time unresPonsive and eventully the select button gives uP. This then rendors the device useless... Mine was insured, but I didnt even claim because I didnt want them to rePlace it with the same Phone ... UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THIS DEVICE - HOW THIS GOT THROUGH QUALITY CONTROL AT NOKIA IS BEYOND ME... I WILL NEVER BUY A NOKIA AGAIN AFTER THIS FIASCO

The N96 is remarkably the worst phone that I have ever owned: slow software, crap battery, keyboard designed for child-size fingers, multiple clicks to use any software etc etc. I have just spent an hour trying to download photos to my PC. The Nokia software cannot identify the phone, however, keeps telling me that file transfer is happening. On another topic, I have read a number of times that for some owners the battery lasts 2-4 days. I do not know how you have configured your phone but mine barely lasts a day and that is only using voice and text and no other features. I have also had a replacement battery which has made no difference to the problem. I am writing this review as an alternative to smashing the phone with a hammer.

where to start. n95 was bad enough to and from the repair shop regularly but my n96 has been in for repair 11 times already the o2 shop know me so well now i think i'll be getting invited to their christmas staff party. buttons constantly screw up and decide to change their function. backlight keeps dying. yesterday screen dercided to resemble a 1980's computer screen. come on nokia get your fingers out and make an n series thats actually useable. also another heads up. 2 of my friends have the n97 and they have both been in for repair at least twice since august.

I can only mirror Adam below. It's the worst phone/gadget/product i've ever bought. I've applied all the firmware updates under the sun. I barely use it and still when i do decide to give it a chance, it flops, whilst using as a phone, a camera, on the internet. BBC iplayer has never worked it doesn't like just being on sometimes. It freezes and has to have battery taken out left to have a little sleepy before restart...ah bless. Connection errors a plenty and i live in central london so coverage isn't an issue Total Junk and whats more so is 3 customer service. Don't bother with either.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! it is awful!!!!! I had this phone for just under a year now and i just can't take it anymore, slow is an understatment!. For example if you need to dial 999 you will probs have to wait 10 minutes sometimes for it to load, or it will freeze and you will have to restart your phone, then wait another 5. NOT a good thing in an emergency. Ive tried ring friends on nights out and for the whole night Ive been unable to phone/text them to see where they are because more than one person will text me whilst doing this which = crash! (what a suprise). You cannot run more one thing at once, for example writting a message whilst listening to your favorite music. 9 times out of 10 you will probs result into taking your battery because its crashed. The camera is good....but you maybe aswell go and buy a camera from Argos or something while you wait for the camera load it would be quicker. These are only a few problems out of many I did own a vodaphone one maybe thats why but I cant see any other network being better, my friends has on o2 and he hates it just as much as me. Nokia for me you have absolute let me down and Nokia should disgusted for what a pile of poo I and many many other have wasted their money on.I will never buy a Nokia EVER EVER EVER again and i will always refer people to a different make of phone if they ask for my knowledge on Nokia's (unless they get say a 3210 there easily the best phones by them) BUT ok the positive side!!!! it makes an excellent paper weight on my computer desk now that its not doing anything

Well this phone is totally useless its more like a landline than a mobile because its always plugged in..charging. the battery is terrible and cant even go a few mins without needing to charge it i just have to look at it for it to drain the battery..but even then alas more problems.. the iplayer will work when its in the mood to i think ive managed to watch about 3 shows on it altogether...of course with the thing plugged in the charger, when you drop it the whole phone falls to bits also it takes ages to switch on, the internet always has some kind of errors id never ever recomend this phone i used to like nokias but this things totally put me off its a phone to giv ur enemies total headache fone

had this phone 6 months, seems like forever! i've sent it back 3 times. keeps crashing and turning itself off. the battery life's rubbish too i've had to buy another battery to see if it helps, signed up for an 18 month contract too! bad move!

I got this fone about 6 months ago from vodafone i was going to get another sony but the women on the fone talked me in to getting this piece of rubbish, where do i start the battery is a joke have to charge everyday, i cant get any reception at work but other people on vodafone have no propblems, the operating system on the fone cant cope with anything and am always taking the battery out to reset i have carried out firmware update from 11 to 30 from nokia site made no difference, this fone is going back to the shop 2moro for repair (vodafone say they can fix it)we will see, still have 12 months left on contract and am using sony k800i at the mo great fone, i recommend any HTC fone for people looking to get a new one dont get an nokia n96.

I got the N96 from Vodafone Ireland in December 2008. It is by a very long margin the worst mobile phone I have ever used. It constantly crashes and can only be got going again by removing and reinserting the battery. This problem has not been solved by Vodafone since they do not appear to support the necssary firmware upgardes.

My last Nokia ever. Having owned it for almost 12 months now, and still struggling with it. Still haven´t worked out how to activate voice-command. Nokia maps cost a fortune. Though using 3G-net, the internet (and the phone as such) is sooo slow. Have given up using the internet. Camera: ok quality, but too slow. Snapshots? No way. Everyone will have moved before you are ready to take a photo: approx 20 sec. from you start, till you can take a photo. All in all pretty disappointing, as I paid almost 900 Euro for this good-for-nothing piece of junk.

whoever is thinking to purchase this phone should re-think! It's slow, it lags, it freezes! the phone only has 2 hours talk time before the battery dies! it fails to make calls sometimes and to send messages. big waste of money! only good thing about it is the camera!

I have this phone with O2,it was a choice between the sony c905 or this one,unfortunatly i chose the wrong one !!!.Upon receiving my new phone and charging the unit up i found the backlight did not work and could not see the screen.After replacing the phone (same model) and using it for 3 months the unit decided to keep turning itself off.this is the third unit now and it has just packed up again after a period of 7 months !!! so if your looking for a good reliable phone dont get this one its a pile of rubbish !!!

i have go a n96. first it was working fine. now it switches it self off automaticly every time. i hate it . spend 300 for this rubbish.

this phone is the worst phone i have ever had. signed up for contract for 2 years in the first month took it in for repair twice and got a new one, still crashes, turns itself off, deletes texts, very slow, wont take pictures. nokia have made a very bad name for themselves. wouldnt advice to get this phone, worst phone ever!!

This is far and away the worst phone that I have ever owned. The only thing worse than the phone is the shower of a network provider that provided it. Don't go with 3! Due to 3's woeful level of customer service, I dealt with the constatnt crashing, inability to multi-task, slow response times and data loss for 6 months It eventually got so bad however, that the phone had to be returned. The phone was away for 7 days, before being replaced with a new one. I had the new phone for around 1 hour, then it began to shut down on it's own. After less than 24 hours, the new phone was returned and is still under repair by Nokia 2 weeks later. Clearly, my first phone was not a problem handset, it is the model that is a design fault. I believe that Nokia should refund all the hapless purchasers of their N96 that is, in short, not fit for purpose and I can safely say that it is the last Nokia phone that I will ever buy! AVOID AVOID AVOID!

This phone is shockingly bad! On paper you expect it to be excellent - feature rich and a true competitor to other smart phones. But the interface is seriously buggy (even with the latest firmware), very slow, and crashes frequently (white screen of death). It's a nightmare to use and I can't wait to get rid. I upgraded from a n95 which was faster! e.g. taking a photo and scrolling through your media gallery on the n96 is painfully slow but on the n95 it's very fast. Surely an upgrade shouldn't be result in poorer performance. I'll think very carefully before buying another Nokia. I'm very disappointed!

This review doesn't contain anything you won't find in other reviews really. I have had this phone for 9 months now. It doesn't get "more reliable after time" as some people claim, without basis. The slowness of this phone is incredible, even minutes after powerup before I have loaded any apps. The phone is "3" branded. I have regularly updated the firmware as updates become available. The updates certainly fix whatever happens to be wrong with it at the time, but with each update comes a new set of things which don't work. Pros: Screen was brilliant til I scratched it (doh) Camera is pretty good, if that's sometihng you look for in a phone Memory capacity is fantastic - This phone has replaced my MP3 player Support for Microsoft Exchange (only useful to nerds like me) Lots of connectivity methods, which is great although far from unique Cons: Interface is painfully slow "Crashes" at least once a day (as in - have to remove battery) Interface is painfully slow Running more than one application at a time is practically un-usable Interface is painfully slow Battery life is poor (not terrbile though) About 36 hours usually An hour's drive using GPS will use an entire day's worth of battery and you could probably fry an egg on it afterwards from the heat. This phone does indeed have a huge collection of applications and broad support for many kinds of media but it is just too slow. It doesn't do much the N95 doesn't do and is considerably slower. Disappointing.

Horrible phone, hate it, always going wrong, very slow, think the brick phones would work quicker than this, always crashes and has a mind of its own. Takes forever to load, i wish i hadnt of waisted my time on this phone! battery lasts a day and thats it!forever freezing! my advised find a psone that will work

It's a very good cellular phone and if you are an true multimedia monsterthen i would suggest you to go with this phone becasue it has play music, watch movies, play games, everything is possible. The image is sharp and is easy to read subtitles. The N96 comes with a 5 mega pixel camera that is able to make beautiful pictures and make videos. Surfing the internet on this N96 is no problem. The phone supports UMTS and HSDPA, making you almost as fast Internet access at home. The N96 has a Dual ARM CPU 9264 MHz processor with 128mb RAM. The device runs on the new symbian OS 9.3 S60 OS. Like the N95, the Nokia N96 with a dual slider at one end to the regular keypad and the other special multimedia keys. The internal memory of this smartphone is a whopping 16gb and that is through a microSD memory further expandable with 8gb.

This is the most useless phone I've had the misfortune to use, so much hype and so much promise, but could not deliver on any of it, the only reason it's still in once piece is the fact it's worth more to sell, than fun to smash, was tempted though.

The worst phone i have ever owned!! I have always had Nokia's but this is my last one. Iv had it back in the shop twice already, comes back the same. Freezes constantly, switches itself off, cant cope with more than one application open.... the list goes on. Once it's switched itself off (useually when in the middle of an important phone conversation) it wont switch back on for atleast 5 mins. Im sure Nokia must have known that this phone isn't fit for selling to the public. Mine is now in a drawer and im left paying a £40 a month contract to run a £25 handset i bought in Argos which is better than the N96! DONT BUY ONE!!!!!!

WARNING - DO NOT upgrade to firmware 30.033, it disables the camera (you'll receive a bizarre 'feature not supported' error) and there's currently no solution.

i bought this phone as soon as i could, i expected the most upto date multimedia phone on the market at that time. what i recieved was a sub-standard phone that is incapable of performing basic tasks quickly. when texting a contact the phone often freezes whilst searching through the contact list and marking one or more recipeints... sometimes this is only for a matter of seconds, sometimes i have found myself turning the phone on and off as it has not unfrozen itself for atleast a minute. the backlight on the phone often fails and can sometimes be rectified by sliding the phone downwards as to reveal the specific music buttons, though sometimes even this doesnt work and again i am forced to turn the phone on and off again ... simple things like this should not be a problem on such a modern phone!!? many reviews that i have seen of the n97(the succesor to the n96) say much the same thing... my experience with the n96 makes me never want to buy another Nokia phone, they must improve !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE STAR IS GENEROUS ...

since i got the phone in oct 2008 i have had nothing but problems with it, when people call me or i call some1 there is nothing there just an echo of myself. when listening to music it fast forwards it's self without me pressing anything. when writing messages of cancelling a call it contantly freezes i wouldn't advise anybody to buy this fone.

I have had this phone for 3 months out of a 24 month contract, already it is in the repair shop having stopped recognising numbers when recieving a text and eventually lighting up white and freezing. I would not recommend this phone to anyone, it is forever freezing and often turns itself off midway through something important which is always helpful. On paper it is good but in reality completely useless.

I got this with o2 and it takes up to 10 minutes to get all features to be ready and when i use any one of them including making a 999 call it freezes and the only way to reset it is to pull the battery. the features are cool if they all performed better so instead of craming them with features nokia should focus on the performance by putting in a more powerful processor. only other issue is the navigation control it is difficult to press the select button without pressing other buttons in the process abit flimzy
