Reviewed by Shaun Brown on 23/10/2011 Love this phone. Had it for 2 years nearly and wouldnt change. Keypad perfect for people with big hands and those who can't be doing with the farty fiddly bloody touchscreens which are nigh on impossible to use. Excellent all rounder, tough, durable, fair enough it does need a charge every night but this isn't a problem. Great features, smart, sleek design and I don't agree with the call quality problems personally, never had any issues with this. Dropped it in water twice, accidentally on the pavement countless times and it's still as good as new. Let's hope they still make phones like this in the future and don't all go touchscreen! Reviewed by Lewis Walters on 12/06/2011 Had this phone for nearly 18 months, nearing the end of the contract i have with Virgin Mobile. This is the third phone one i have had since taking up the contract, the first phones both had the same problem, the socket to hold the charger in place became loose and wouldnt charge. Send it back twice and paid £30 each time for a replacement. Other problems are: Sometimes the phone suddenly freezes and restarts on its own accord, there is no telling when this will happen, its a matter of guessing. Sometimes the connection changes from 3G to 3.5G, and this is annoying when your on the internet, as reloading the page can involve the message 'Invalid Server Name' popping up time to time. Overall it is a powerful phone, but sometimes too powerful which slows the whole thing down, the camera is excellent, very high quality photos can be taken very easily. It is a good phone but has its downfalls, anyone looking for a powerful, fast and reliable phone this one is not recomm ended. But if you want a phone capable of taking high quality photos and videos with video editors, this phone is highly recommended. Rating:
Reviewed by Narendra on 25/05/2011 If u belive more on function and reliabilty but not the look....then nokia n86 rocks at that price and the brand name nokia is too much to purchase it as compared to samsung,lg, sony etc. N86 has all those features of a smartphone which is needed and praised. It has fm transmitor which only i think is in nokia and not the other brands u can us fm transmitor in music system or sub woofer while watching vedio or watching movies online on web. Actualy todays market r filled with stylish fone but they r just rubbish now becoz people want more function to make their life easier and me too belive on this as compaired to stylish pones. It has better browser than other brands and works at more kbps as compared 2 other. Internal+External memory slot make it easier to copy any data from other people memory card to our internal memory. It has wifi, 8mp gorgeous camera with dual led flash which can short a sharp image of even a newspaper, headph. Sound is superb with an extra p lay pause vol buttons on headph. Provided by company, battery back is good. Its small size make it more handy, keypad is badlooking but it never fail or need repair year or year while other brand start facing problem after a year of rough use. But nokia is ruf n tuf. And the nokia brand name is enough to says any thing... Rating:

Reviewed by shabs on 05/02/2011 i took out the n86 with 3g 6 months ago. I regret it so much as the phone freezes, goes off, etc etc. The charging port also went loose and it stopped charging. I sent it 4 repairs and they said they cant repair it because it has been dropped.(that is a whole load of rubbish) i phoned 3g and i disputed the fact that my phone did not drop however they stuck to their grounds and said theres noting they could do other then me ordering another phone as long as i still pay 4 this one. My advise is do not use 3g or nokia as they havnt got a clue on what their custumers needs are. Rating:
Reviewed by gary on 31/01/2011 This is a great phone in every way if i was reliable!!!!!, i've had 4 of them on my o2 business contract each one only lasting a few wks before the earpiece packed up and i could bearly hear the person on the other end, i've also had battery issues with them, even if charged up over night, at times it goes on to power save mode, displays 1 bar on the battery and dims the display and even switches off but 5 mins later when i look at it the battery displays full bars??!! If it worked as it should i would keep it forever but theres a limit to my patience!! in fairness to o2 they have replaced them immediatly without question but this time they are sending a n96 and if the reviews are anything to go by it may not bre much better!! don't get this at any cost!! Reviewed by SEAN BRIGHT on 09/01/2011 Before i got this phone i reviewed it on line and like everything else there was some good and bad reviews. I have had the phone for 5 days now and i have experienced some of the problems indicated in reviews, Screen freeze, disconnection etc.... I contacted 3 and complained that i will not accept something that does not work correctly and they are exchanging it for a completely different model. So wherever you got the mobile from, if it doesn't work right, DONT accept it. Rating:
Reviewed by Henry on 05/01/2011 Good points: Fantastic camera 8 megapixels sharp photos of my grandchildren. In fact since I got the phone I abandoned my cameras and just relied on the phone for pictures. The apps functioned well. Radio. internet connection and displays. Negatives: the volume on hands free is too low, the reception on moving about is weak although that could be my network. I experienced a blacked out screen as if the ink colour from the camera overshadowed the screen otherwise it served me well. I rate it low on data space and data management these days we need handsets that are like mini pcs. Though again my sim card only takes 120 entries that could have helped so i had to rely on the phone for memory space a lot with no provision for a memory expansion card. Rating:
Reviewed by Steve F on 15/12/2010 Phone is total pash. Software not anything like as userfriendly of Nokias of old, and whole thing, although quite heavy and initially feel robust, is actually pretty flimsy. Problem now is that the charging socket has fallen into the phone after normal use. Sent back for repair and was returned unrepaired (with charge socket connector missing) with a report saying that it had been dropped and not covered under warranty. Phone in use for about 4 months! Now I basically have a brick that T-Mobile are refusing to repair stating I had damaged it, when in actual fact it's a design flaw by Nokia. Rating:

Reviewed by Mitchell Arthur on 01/12/2010 After deciding on whether to get a blackberry phone or a touch screen phone, I settled with this phone because I like using normal buttons for texting. First few months were great! But then the phone started playing up. The camera stand broke off, the screen froze, it wouldn't charge properly and when it did it would overheat, the flash on the camera wouldn't turn off, said it was charging when it wasn't, wouldn't let me call people, middle button plays up, goes on silent randomly, turns itself off, phone wouldn't lock, couldn't hear people through the earpiece. You name it, it's happened to my phone. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is the camera. Best camera I've ever had on a phone. Rating:

Reviewed by Marcus on 19/11/2010 Could have been so good, but was in fact, a proper head bender. Bought as a replacement for N95 8 Gb, which was fantastic. But this little bad boy does not come close. The main gripe of mine was reliability. Within a month the messaging facility froze when using the headset on a call and web browsing when in came a message. Couldn't access the messaging from then on which resulted in returing the phone to have software reflashed. Phone came back as new, which is a hassle in itself. Everything was OK for another month, then the same freezing of messaging facility, this time due to using the email application when a message was received. Have thrown in the towel and rejecting it. Total garbage. Rating:
Reviewed by Lucie on 26/10/2010 Ive had this phone for a year now and from day one the text message icon has flashed incessently. However it had no other problems than that and after checking out all the continous problems from other people that had tryed to get their handsets fixed, I decided I could put up with it.For around 4 months it was a great phone, yes a little bulky and ugly but in terms of what it could do, pretty impressive. Except after about 4 months Its problems have got worse and worse to the point where its now almost unusable due to constatntly thinking it has not enough memory, despite the purchase of a memory card and deleting nearly every app, music file and picture it ever had. It could have been the best phone ever but it has never worked as it should very dissapointed as I have always been a fan of Nokia phones for their quality and reliability and now I feel I shall have to try another manufacturer. Reviewed by Pete on 19/10/2010 DO NOT BUY, my first N86 had 4 warrenty repairs including the charging socket, earpiece and camera. Countless software problems, Freezes and hard reboots to try and sort out. Will never get a nokia again and I have been brand loyal since 1996. Build quality and reliability is extremely poor. Rating:

Then the battery would fail very quickly. Phone was replaced, second one still charges itself without being plugged into mains and battery life is poor. Reviewed by Jay on 18/08/2010 KEEP LOOKING FOR OTHER MOBILES Nokia did a HORRIBLE and I mean HORRIBLE job of making this phone. The software is the WORST part of it all. There are so many times when the software will just freeze up and I cannot make a call or whatever. I also had a problem with the camera and the exposure on it. When I called Nokia's help desk, they just told me to reload the software, even though the problem is for hardware. That is their favourite response. If that doesn't do it, well you had better return it to where you got it or get a refurbished model and they can never seem to "recreate the same problem" but reloaded the software anyways. Now when people call my phone, there number won't match up to the caller ID in the phone. Why did I buy this phone? Nokia keeps trying to catch up with the iPhone but their software is such rubbish. They used to make good phones but became lazy recently. There are a lot of great concepts in this phone, such as the FM transmitter, but the software behind it all is the worst part. Has anyone noticed that the "C Drive space" on the phone is getting eaten up? If you received a file via bluetooth or have too many emails (don't we all!!) then the c drive will fill up and the phone will move ultra slow. The camera is rubbish. Look to Sony Ericsson instead. The camera takes forever to load and makes that horrible noise when it finally does take a picture. Why does the flash come on in "night mode"? When I try to send a SMS to my friends, the stupid phone can only remember the last 15 words you custom made and then erases them after you power off the phone. Well done Nokia and Symbian! I would get the iPhone had it not been for the signal problems and may I say the signal problems are also true on this phone. Try holding it and cover the left side. The signal drops. I want my money back. Rating:
Reviewed by michelle on 15/08/2010 I generally like the outlook of this phone and I bought it because I liked phones with keypads. However, just one week into getting this phone, I turned on the GPS and then there will be a menu that pops out n keeps blinking whenever I switched to another application and get back to the GPS application. Since I had to head back overseas to study, I didn't send it for repair. Just into 2 months of using it, one day I discovered that the On/Off button wasn't working and the phone wouldn't Lock the Keypad as it would normally. Just in less than 12 hours time, the phone just turned off on its own and because the button was no longer working, I couldn't use it at all. Thinking that being a global company, Nokia would provide international care for its customers, I was appalled by the fact that the Customer Service assistant did not show initiative in providing the service at all. They did not have the slightest intention at all. Thus, I had to courier it back home and as ked my dad to send it to the Customer Service Centre back home. After going through huge amount of hassles, and it was finally sent to repair, I only used it for 9 days and it was the SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED months ago. They installed a new Map that did not allow me to zoom in to the level where I could've zoomed in previously. I admit that it was y fault for having it accidentally had water poured over it but please Nokia, I was your loyal customer and because of this I have already lose all my confidence as I might pay hundreds of dollars and get another defected phone.
