Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Stacey on 12/11/2008 I got my n82 during july this year. Everything was fine with it. But a few weeks ago, the top speaker started to crackle abit, then it just cut out. I got a new n82 the next day. Except for that this phone is a must buy. The camera is very good quality, my friend who has a samsung 5 megapixel phone, when we compared pictures, the ones on my phone were of such a better qualitly. The battery life is quite short, but if you adjusted how long the light stays on for to about 10 secs, it lasts alot longer. The keypad is way too small and a bit of a joke the battery life is POOR to say the least charged over night made some calls totaling 30 mins didnt have blue tooth on or Internet or anything else and had all power settings on low battery died at 4pm seems Nokia have gone for all singing and all dancing phones but have neglected the fact they need power to run just wondering how long we need to wait till someone puts a solar charging on the screen??? now have after 10 yrs of nokia I have a Sony and very nice too with a battery that lasts more than 12hrs. so this N82 due to it poor battery has turned me off nokia and on to Sony, Oh dear Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Dandy on 04/11/2008 I bought the n82 a week ago, it's a gorgeous phone, (i got the silver edition). Fast wifi detection and excellent browsing experience. A little problem when installing n-gage v1.10, A certificate constraint comes up (it will break the hearts of gamers), but you can install games that are not based on the n-gage platform, I installed Project Gotham Racing and its cool. It's classy, I was deciding between n82 and SE G900, almost the same specs, but it all boiled down to Style. Style is a little heavier than Functionality. Enjoy N82 Users. Great Job Nokia =) Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Jamie Brown on 28/10/2008 Absolutely excellent phone. I haven't used Nokia in About Three years since being an addicted sony ericsson user.Well the n82 is a perfect Fone for me!! no complaints....only the media player!! it doesnt recognize almost half of the songs in my library!! But i guessed maybe that issue can be resolved in later firmware releases. And at night, it captures far better pictures than any phone!! And for the keypads ha ha ha try using w880 or k850 like i did and then try complaining!! Nuthin Much Simply Luv this FOne better then my old k850!! Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by kevin k on 18/10/2008 good nice phone keyboard could be better camera is clear not had any bad things yet Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Dave on 14/10/2008 I've had the phone for nearly a week now and, on first impressions, was a little disappointed. However, having spent a little time with the device I am now VERY happy. Software is readily available; I have installed GarminXT without a problem and a great little DivX viewer. The screen is great, the camera's superb, the N-Gage games are fun, it makes a great mp3 player (the headphones are the best I've ever received with a mobile phone as standard) and, even though I have "fat" fingers, it didn't take long for me to get used to the small keys. The PC suite that I downloaded from the Nokia didn't seem to work very well, so I switched to my wife's version (for her 6300) to perform certain tasks. I've had no problems with the "buggy" OS yet (fingers crossed) and although it is a little slow sometimes and the battery life is a bit short (though I have been playing with it consistantly) I am going to say that this is easily the best phone I've had. I heartily recommend anyone in the market for this type of phone to give it strong consideration. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Rakesh on 14/10/2008 I got my N82 when my N80's display went. I was considering the N95 8GB or the N96. The fact that this phone has no slide really appealed to me as sooner or later the slide is going to be a cause of something going wrong. Plus the N96 from what I hear, isn't as smooth running as the N82 because it's processor isn't as fast. The best feature in this phone is definitely the camera and xenon flash. You can take a picture in complete darkness and it comes out perfect. I've never seen that in any other mobile. The multimedia, Wi-Fi, GPS etc are all features that you can get on other phones but this one has it all with the best camera. Alot of people make an issue of the keypad and I was initially worried because I have thickish fingers, but there was no problem once you get used to it. I can even text without looking and be right 95% of the time. I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone considering a new mobile. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Mark on 13/10/2008 The Worst Fone Ever,DO NOT BUY,im Now On My 3rd One In 6month And This Has Just Broke today Aswell,Very Disapointed Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Monib on 15/09/2008 Not satisfying! No, trust me!!! When I first got my hands on my NOKIA N82, my hopes were very high. But soon, I was disappointed. The very first thing you expect is that 82 is an awesome camera. It just isn't! Most of the pictures appear out of focus and seem very bizzare. And only if you're a pro photographer, and with lots of trials and errors, will you be able to get the right focus lock. Secondly is the display, which shows extremely washed out colors. If you compare it side by side to a N95 8GB or even a 6300, the latter will win. Thirdly are the retarded loudspeakers and the creaky built. The loudspeakers aren't loud and show distortions and noises at high volume levels. The built is very creaky and can instantle make you feel that your high priced machine is nothing but a toy in wonderfully colored dress. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by zoe on 14/09/2008 i hate this damn thing, but at the same time i love it. I too was one of those people that saw the pile of amazingly positive reviews and thought, wauw that's what I'm getting, now i wish i hadn't. There's no denying that the camera is amazing, the pictures turn out beautiful even with zoom. The tilting screen was cool for the first few days but then really started to annoy me when it would turn around when i didn't want it to. I've had my phone for little over a month, I haven't dropped it, didn't get it wet, i actually took real good care of it. But somehow that little silver multimedia button decided to stop working all together. And i must stress, THE GOD DAMN LAG!!! Its driving me insane, i want to throw my oh so wonderful nokia n82 out the window. Don't know if im the only experiencing trouble with a particular issue, the music player? And the gallery? Every friggin time i upload some music from my computer to my phone and i try to play it on my phone, it tell s me theres a general system error or something like that. Jeez. At one point I wanted to just throw it away, stamp on it, and never look back at it. I was on holiday for a week, had been taking lovely pictures of all my events with my n82, and I was in the zoo, took one last picture of a cute monkey before I ran out of battery, but as I was about to store my picture my phone switched off. Oh well no big deal i thought, just one picture. But when I turned it back on, ALL, yes ALL my pictures and ALL my music and ALL my videos had disappeared. That has happened a second time now, second time I wasn't even out of battery, it was just lagging and then suddenly my screen went white, and the phone froze, so I had to turn it off. Everything gone, once again. It can't be my memory card, I had a 2GB one the first time it happened and I replaced it with another 2GB one right after. Also if your phone isn't on full charge, it's useless. It takes ages to even open up the menu screen. T hank god I atleast have thin fingers, the keypad would probably be a nightmare if other wise. I used to accidentally hit the multimedia button instead of the C while texting, but yeah, now that button doesn't work anymore anyway. The phone is also quite big and chunky. It's not all bad though, when i get the amazing features of this high tech phone working they are without a doubt great. I love the big screen and the resolution of it. But in the end, I don't think it's worth all the hassle, and I don't think it deserves all this fame. Can't wait to get my hands on the sony ericsson w902, hope that will make-up for all this. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Robert on 24/08/2008 A phone with a good camera and lots of bells and whistles (GPS, WiFi, 3G/EDGE/GPRS, Applications). The WiFi is a better connection than the EDGE available thru Tmobile in the USA (no surprise). The keypad is fine, really - easy to find keys by touch. The navigation wheel above, however, is a bit finicky and I often find I move the cursor when trying to push the central button. Battery life is usually short when phones run WiFi or other internet connections, I have found. I wanted a phone with a good camera and this one seems to be it .... But the camera settings (white balance, EV, ISO, flash always on/off, etc.) revert to default once you close the camera. Who would buy a digital camera that did that? Of course this unit is a phone, not a camera, but at this level of sophistication (xenon flash, lens cover, autofocus, all the options available albeit temporarily) it is a killjoy not to be able to control the camera effectively. Also, the camera has WiFi and supports VOIP but alas does not have UMA - to allow me to use it with Tmobile hotspot@home As others have noted, the candybar design is no work of art. All these problems are enough for me to get a different phone with less camera and buying a separate digital camera ... though I really wanted to only have to carry my laptop and one extra gadget for fieldwork. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by eddie on 23/08/2008 I realy like this phone it took me a long time to get over my SE W800i, and I have to say that they still dont come much better than that if you want value for money. however this is a superb phone and camera and the fact it has gps is amazin, bought a 8 gb card for it and this phone has replaced, my iphone, the iphone is an amazing bit of design, but it is a bit geeky, and the camera on it can give you mixed results, sometimes ok then sometimes dire. this is not so slicky designed but a much better package. I thought i was going to have trouble with the small keys but they are fine. would have liked it to be a little thinner, and the fact you have to use a different lead to charge and data transfere is not as good as sonys one lead does it all. its not perfect but I def think it is the best phone available at the moment. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Albert on 05/08/2008 Ive had this phone for about 2 months now and im loving it, the camera is (also as reviewed) much better than most out there and quality is better than most 5mp cameras (even my canon 5mp), another pointer the flash is great :) Internet speed are great, with my 8gb flash card its my portable music player, with pretty loud, crisp and nice speakers (as loud as n95 but better positioned speakers)...downsides are (for the larger fingered) the keyboard kinda small (which i prefer), battery life is affected largely by music player (but worth it)...ignore some of the one star reviews they dont sound too legit, i couldnt ask for a better phone at this point in time as i compare it to my dads n95 its pretty much the same, but i find the n82 more comfortable......BUT often services/apps/themes/games on the internet dont identify my phone (eg. it goes n80, n81, n90,n95 etc) which i dont get (because it def supports all the same things as n95 :) ) but it might be because its fairly new release (?) i dont know, atm thats all that kinda bugs me but this is a great phone Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Kal on 23/07/2008 I've had this phone for about 3 months now and it has been fantastic. I've used the N95 and the sony ericsson and this is a very good phone. Camera / pictures- The camera quality is excellent as is the video quality. There is no delay to take a photo/video like with the N95. The shutter does occasionally open in your pocket which can be annoying. Keypad- is quite small. However despite my initial reservations you do get used to it. It's still annoying though. GPS- Nokia maps software is appaling. My advice upgrade to google maps or Garmin or tom tom as soon as you buy the phone. It does work very well to the point I don't bother using my satnav anymore. Battery life- isn't actually too bad. You'll get 1-2 days out of it depending on how much you use the phone. Nokia suite PC software- new version is excellent. Constantly updated. Easy to back up sim contacts and swap files back and forth. Browsing the phone isn't fully integrated with windows which can be a pain. Also there are literally hundreds of applications and games available for free on the internet. These add a lot of usability to the phone. Wifi- works well. You can easily surf the web. Music- good software, decent quality music. The onboard speaker isn't very loud so isn't great for handsfree in the car or for playing music. Headphones required for radio. No adapter required to listen to music can plug headphones straight in. Size- not the smallest phone in the world. Can be a bit bulky, not overly heavy. I'd recommend upgrading the memory card and getting a screen protector. Overall a fantastic, fantastic phone. Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by SWAPNIL on 15/07/2008 HI Guys i bought the N82 two months back ! from DUBAI & it's a Made in FINLAND piece!! version 11.XXX ! in the reflective silver color!! PLZ excuse my typing errors as i am new to this ! Now about the phone's Pro's and Cons ! PRO'S ==CAMERA== BEST 5mp camera i have ever seen and especially the XENON flash works really great ! so great in fact that N82 takes way better pictures than my KODAK M883 8mp camera especially in low light conditions !! i did some testing and took a couple of pictures of a object with both the N82 and KODAK M883 8 mp camera in same exact conditions! & i was amazed by the quality of the N82's pictures believe me it actually beats my KODAK 8mp digicam! especiallyin low light conditions while the N82's pictures were evenly lit up by the XENON flash & no grains & noise inthe pics!! while the pictures taken by the KODAK M883 8 MP camera were not uniformly lit up only the centre part of the picture were lit up while the rest of the picture was dark, the picture of the kodak 8mp was filled with grains and noise !!! also id like to emphasize on the RED light that is there behind the camera is not there, just for show! it serves two purpose 1)when in dark and there is no light the N82 actually uses this light; to light up the object and it actually focuses and locks on the target ! then it just takes the pic with the XENON flash!!! 2)it actually also serves the purpose of red eye reduction !! reducing the size of the pupils hence very little retina is exposed and thus no red eyes !! VIDEO RECORDING == the video recording is great !! VGA 640X480 @ 30fps !! also there is a VIDEO STABILISATION option which works ok!! BATTERY = no problems here, but using the GPS really drains the battery a lot about half hour of gps usage will reduce the battery to half after a full charge !! normally on daily use the battery lasts me 1.5 to 2days !! GPS === better than the old N95 !! but still could be better but still takes about 5 to 10 min to find a signal!!! MUSIC == just about ok !! dont expect the Walkman series quality here !! KEYPAD== though the keys are quite thin, and every one seems to find a problem with them,, after a few days of using them u will get used to it !! as they are actually very easy to press and respond to the slightest of touch hence i did not have any issues with them!! WIFI == better than my P990 and it finds even weak signals !! INTERNET=== Really great here i had no problems !! and i especially like the small window that pops up when you are scrolling through pages telling your location on the minimap!!Also when u select the back buton to go to previous page all previous pages are shown side by side so that u can just select the page directly that u want ! nice ACCELEROMETER == this is just one amazing feature of the phone & the auto rotation works really well!! but works better on the updated version 20.xxx there are tons of apps u can download that use the accelerometer !!! but first ull have to install an software called as the python on the mobile u can get it on nokias mosh website!! you'll have lots of fun with the apps that use acceleromter!! Taking CALLS === the quality of hte reception and the clearity of voice is just amazing !! TV OUT! === also works very very well and u can continue using the phone normally while connected to the TV OUT !! really great!! GOOD built quality !! i accidently dropped it twice, from a height but luckily everythings ok! no squeaks !! till now CONS==== First of all try to get the latest firmware version 20.XXX as lots of bugs in the 11.XXX version are fixed or else atleast update it !!! HEADSET== the suppled headset does not have the track selection buttons like play/pause next/previous track buttons like on the headset of the n81.. it only has button's to increase /decrease volume and answer the calls VOICE ACTIVATED Features== The voice activated dialling and voice activted dialling needs to be improved as they do not recognise the words most of the times and give error & also dont work in noisy environments!! Unreadable memory card (I have to take it out and insert it again to be read by the device. 4. Freezing during browsing the gallary photo's.
