The batery and camera are very poor but as usualwith some nokias. the big issue is a malfunction that was not resolved, the card slot is causing superfast discharge of batery or even bad charging. Also some devices have problems with the hearing that need service. Otherwise excelent business tool and sleek design Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Bilal on 10/06/2009 POSITIVES: Very good and solid feel. Voice quality on and off speakerphone is excellent. Keyboard well-laid out and easy to use. NEGATIVES: Predictive text is hopeless. Accessing texts and sending attachments (e.g.) contacts are not intuitive and flexible as in the previous Nokias. Cannot open attachments with internet emails. Browsing is ridiculously tiny. Volume buttons are shabby and unusable. Also software glitches and freezes. I really wanted this phone to be the ONE. Unfortunately, it isn't. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by M.SHANKAR on 21/05/2009 I bought this phone a year back and i am very much satisfied with my phone. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Sockpuppet on 10/03/2009 I have had this phone for about 10 days so far, Its not the kind of phone I would normally own as I normally tend to get the more geeky or gadgety phones. The phone is a very good all round mobile, good size screen, reasonable size keys, pretty good battery life compared to most of the modern phones. I use smtp to pickup Email, a nice feature is that it asks you how you want to connect so you have the option of picking between wireless or gprs connections. Picking up and reading emails is fine but if you're planning to reply to more than the occasional Email then you need to get a phone with a qwerty keyboard. I was pleasantly suprised about how good the nokia software is as most of the supplied software I have used in the past on previous phones has been so poor and unstable that I have uninstalled it almost immediately. Both my Bluetooth devices connected immediately and easily (Headset and GPS receiver) The phone comes with googlemaps and nokia maps which I haven't really used as I prefer tomtom. The phone has no games but there are loads available, tiger woods 2009 is excellent. The 2Mp camera takes reasonable pictures and the video mode is Ok. Overall I was going to give this phone 4 stars, but the more I think about how easy and hassle free everything has been on this phone, Im going to give it 5 stars. The only small niggle I have is the charger connector which is tiny and looks like it would be easy to break. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Paul - Adelaide on 08/03/2009 I bought mine outright about a yr ago. Have dropped it inadvertantly several times and barely a scratch on it. The LCD screen gets dust under it and scratches pretty quick but every phone i've had has experienced that problem. The camera is ok for bright areas when you are close to the target, but if you want a camera buy a digital one Ability to play pretty much all media types as both media and ringtones is very handy and trumps the Seamens and Sony Ericsons i had previoudly, the sound quiality is poor but it only has a very small speaker so thats to be expected. comparable in ability to a wizz bang new Iphone other than screen size. Supports most internet protocals/flash/wifi/free intenet through providers Has it''s own inbuilt Radio/Media Player given you are using headphones for the radio. Also accepts expandable SD memory cards upto i bieleve 8GB. i have 2GB in mine and it's far more than i need on a phone used primaliry for its basic function Bads * Screen is hard to read in bright locations * Power/Audio butttons require a great deal of pressure to use. * Battery seems to drain 75% everyday with very little use * Screensaver/auto phone lock/display dim cannot be turned off only increased to a 30sec window so if you are using it regularly you constantly having to press 3 buttons to unlock it * periodic/random crashes and auto reboots. Overall for the time when i bought it, it was clearly the best choice in overall price $720 and what it could do. and one yr later the new Iphones aren't much better other than in maybe media functionality and screen size and static memory size Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by shajila subair from Dubai (U.A.E) on 05/03/2009 Hi! This phone is absolutely amazing. The features are great and you can use it easily. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Georges Deffense on 04/03/2009 Very disappointed! Lost my Nokia 6320i and I need a good contact and calender/memo/meeting/etc. system. The E51 seemed to be the solution but it is not. The screen does not go larger. Nothing goes larger except a phone no. one dials but then who dials a no.? One almost always uses speed dial or the contact or previous dialled no. PC suite was not compatible between the 6320i and the E51 and this was frustrating. Finally managed with Outlook express. In contacts forget about view! I had to "pretend" to edit in other to view a number that the screen would not provide. In memo I had one that came up every week and when the task was complete I deleated it - what a mistake! All memos etc. were deleated. This is a lousy phone. This phone is very user unfriendly. The only good point I would give is the daily memos that come up on the screen and for this i give it one star. I have gone back to a borrowed 6320i and happy again. The E51... put it in the bin. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Erick on 13/02/2009 This is one of the most effective connectivity devices on the world market and one of the most efficient smartphones. The fact that it retails for less than some plastic junk mobiles available on the market is amazing representing stunning value for money. If you don't require satellite navigation or a sophisticated camera module this is all the smartphone you will ever need. Ideal for someone who wants a competent device and refuses to put up with having a miniscule qwerty style keypad to pretend to type lengthy documents. The T9 on here will suffice for mobile emailing. Strongly recommended and built to last. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by James on 10/02/2009 Bought this phone sim free several months ago and could not be happier with it. It is excellent for all business type uses including push email and acrobat docs etc. Obviously don't buy it if you are chasing the latest camera phone, but if you require a complete communication centre the it is for you. Only downside is lack of GPS but not sure how useful this really is in a phone at the moment with all the various gps units out there. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by E on 04/02/2009 This phone looks nice, but handles poorly. I had a Samsung previously and it felt like I was taking a step backwards in quality. The audio is poor, the system is slow and the camera is pathetic. And like other Nokia owners, I often am unable to access the main menu and am forced to switch off and on the phone to remedy it. If you are in the market for a new phone, may I suggest you consider something another brand (Samsung) or expect to be disappointed. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Kaz on 30/01/2009 I have my E51 about a month and it has broken already :( The keypad locked and the buttons have frozen , don't work at all, I tried taking the battery out to turn it off because couldn't use the on/off button with the keypad locked but when the fone turned back on it switched on with the keypad still locked. I tried removing the SIM as well but this just turned the fone offline and when put the sim back in the keypad is still locked and the screen just says "continue using fone in offline mode?" but i can't access it because the keypad is still frozen. It unfroze for about 30 mins but then the same happened to it :( and it hasn't changed since. Very disappointed Rating: ![]() Reviewed by YY on 23/01/2009 I've owned this phone for about 6 months now. It's a great phone as I was searching for a simple business phone. The Mail for Exchange feature which can be installed directly from the phone's wizard was great until I found out that sending e-mails took about 3 hours to really have them sent (not to mention one time where it took half a day), but receiving e-mails is very fast, even faster than the pc, so it keeps me updated. Yet if u're almost always mobile and constantly need to send e-mails, this isn't the phone for you. Btw the Mail for Exchange suddenly didn't want to connect anymore these past weeks so I think it's time for a change myself. Many good features as bad ones. The SAR is really high but if you're not a heavy user, don't pay attention. Otherwise you can use it as a heater during the winter. In general lines, is a good phone with problems to solve. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Cameron on 06/01/2009 I'm on my second E51 now, my first one lasted about a year of really heavy use. I was/am very happy with the phone. I often use it bluetoothed to my laptop running a 3.5G internet connection whilst at the same time talking on it for an extended period of time...it's about as heavy as you can get. One major issue I have is that the phone gets so hot after about 10-15 minutes of talking that I find it uncomfortable to talk on. In fact, I got my new E51 today and my first call was 20 minutes and it heated up to the point I finished the call. I might check with Nokia tomorrow if this is normal. A front facing camera would have made sense for video calls. SMS's for some reason - when you turn the phone on and get an SMS it timestamps it at the time you turned the phone on and not the time the msg was sent. Being a heavy user, I would really like to see an extended life battery option but they don't have one. I don't like or use the Nokia voice recognition software...it's simply messy. But E stands for Enterprise and this is a genuine Enterprise phone that I am rolling out to most other senior people in our company. It runs Blackberry Connect very well, the wireless is good and it runs all bands + 3G and 3.5G. I'm an office worker but after hours I am also in an Emergency Service. My phone gets wet, shaken, vibrated, thrown, dropped and forgotten about and I'm yet to have a breakdown. Oh once when it got very wet but I simply let it dry out :-) I do like how slender it is. It fits in my shirt pocket very nicely and it's a good size to actually hold on to. Need to work out the overheating however. Hope this helps. The camera gives rather grainy and black-turning-into-green photographs, but no one's buying an E51 for the camera anyway =) and while on negatives, the E65's keys are compartively way better than E51's! 'have been using it for quite a while (4 months) and I haven't come across a single problem. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by zaphod on 17/11/2008 I was tempted by this phone in the Nokia Shop Terminal 5 Heathrow. I have the version without the camera which suits me just fine. Being unlocked is handy too as I can swap between contract and PAYG sims as I need. So far I have found this to be a well designed full featured phone that has a better battery life than my contract Nokia 6500 classic (selected in a moment of madness when my old and fabulous 6230i packed up). I keep forgetting that the dedicated 'Clear' button is just under the five way switch and is not the top right button but that is just habit from a 'mobile life time' of using Nokias. I also cannot seem to make the strip of icons along the top of the screen longer than 5 functions as you can with the 6500 but that is a minor gripe. At least can can customise them to suit. I really like the flashing white led that reminds you of a missed call, text or email. Saves you forever picking up the phone and checking I also do not get this warming effect, also a criticism of the 6500 Classic. One explanation is how far you are from your nearest base station. As I am sure everyone knows the mobile phone is instructed to vary its transmit power to produce reliable communication without unnecessarily thrashing the battery. If you are in area of poor coverage or deep inside a building it is possible that the phone is turned up to maximum transmit power and as a consequence possibly getting warm. This should be accompanied by a shorter talk time than might be expected otherwise. One final thing that I have noticed and may be well known but then I had been happy with my old 6230i until very recently. Predictive text spelling choices.. the phone seems to learn which choice of words is the most used and presents that first.. nice Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by JB on 17/11/2008 I've owned this phone for 10 months and it has been quite reliable over this period. I bought it while living in Asia and now use after moving back to Europe. Use it daily for e-mail, SMS, VOIP, WiFi. It has been seemless in connecting to my car, GPS receiver and home desktop PC via BLuetooth. Excellent with either Nokia Maps or Google maps. I prefer the Google app here. As well, works great with VOIP and I have had no issue with installing/using the Fring software. I am a frequent business traveller and find the overall quality/performance of this phone exceptional. The Nokia E90 is collecting dust simply because this phone has most of the features (except Qwerty keyboard, better camera...) but is packaged in an ergonomically friendly, stylish & professional manner.
