Reviewed by Ian on 20/08/2006 Just about to change to a Nokia 6233 as I always updgrade when I can! The 6680 has been the best phone i have owned so far. I have only used Nokia before and this was excellent. I use the diary to it's full capacity and it is unbeatable and sync's with Outlook superbly. Only really changing as the 6680 was dropped a few months ago and looks a wee bit tired now. Great phone, you won't be disappointed. Rating:
Reviewed by Kenny on 14/08/2006 I originally bought the Nokia 6680 to use primarily for running Tom-Tom via my mobile, something that it does to great effect by the way. I then got more interested in the actual performance and workings of the phone and found it to be excellent in most areas. It looks great, is not overly sized and is easy to get to grips with. If there any downsides then they may include the battery life, which is possibly shortened by my regular use of Tom-Tom but still seems to require a recharge after a day, two at best. The camera is a lot better than has been judged by other reviewers and remember you can record a video up to an hour in length. Themes are readily available to allow you to customise your phone to suit your tastes, one female seller on eBay had glued pink diamante beads all over her 6680 which looked revolting. My phone came with no games whatsoever but I am not a great game player so this was not a problem for me, but is worth checking out if you are. All in all you get an awful lot of phone for you money and they can be picked up for around £60 on eBay in pristine condition. A word of warning though, they can be hard to get unlocked, I have one on the 3 network and have yet to find anyone locally that can unlock them. I have to say that Vodafone are very accommodating and will happily issue you with a NUC (Network Unlocking Code) code, you simply provide the IME number and make and model of the phone. Some other networks insist on knowing the full history of the phone and it is easier to have the previous owner contact them for you, this not only saves time but also money. Some networks seem to charge you depending on how long you have owned the phone, not simply by the age of the phone, Vodafone seem happy to give you the code free if the phone is over a year old. Orange is by far the most unhelpful company I have dealt with, either for unlocking purposes or simply general inquiries. Rating:
Reviewed by Bowshank on 06/08/2006 I had this phone for about a year, when the 3G scene first began. I was very impressed at first with all the features it had to offer and the fact it had an operating system that you can install to etc. The camera was very good at the time, but now dated. One of the main drawbacks for me was the fact that the phone does not have a automatic keypad lock which is annoying, however you can download one from the net. It does not seem to run games very well, as if it doesn't have the processing power needed. The slowness of the phone is its biggest weekness. Menus seem to take ages to exit from, and apps are slow to start. This problem is annoying when you press the exit to homescreen button , and lock the phone, you end up with a star on the screen, and the keys locked, which although doesnt affect anything, is still very annoying. In all I liked the phone, but as it was one of the first 3G phones realased, it feels like to many things were put on the phone which it cant handle. Rating:
Reviewed by J***E***D on 04/08/2006 I hate this phone! I've had it for a year now and cant wait to upgrade. Sometimes when I try to take a picture it says I dont have any memory then wont save if but I have loads of memory left. Also when I have a missed call it shows up on the screen but then I can't clear it and have to switch it off then back on again. It is also really slow, when I select an option it takes ages. Wouldnt recommend it!! Rating:
Reviewed by Ray on 03/08/2006 Have had this for 12 months now and as a phone it's average. But what makes this phone and others Series 60 phones special (eg N70) is the ability to put 3rd party apps on it. I have Mame on it for games, a GPS app for satnav, a utility to turn bluetooth on and off at set times, it can play ogg as well as mp3 files. Admittedly not a fast phone and does crash every so often, and is quite big. I am just waiting for the smaller N73 now. Rating:
Reviewed by Bantam on 25/07/2006 Well, I had rad loads of reviews on tis phone prior to purchasing, and was in two minds aboout it. I wanted a Symbian phone ( for versatility ) and wanted to try a 3G phone for the novelty so of all the phones out there on the market, this one was about the only choice. THe N70 was still too new to be affordable, as I was buying a sim free phone. I have to say, the longer I've owned the phone, the more impressed I've been with it. It does exactly what its supposed to do, and has handled verything I've thrown at it. Bluetooth works great, its syncs with my Mac , I've added a 512mb card, so can store loads of pics, videos etc. Downloaded SmartMovie so can watch movies ripped from my DVD colllection, and have recently added TomTom Mobile, which works great with the phone. I was looking at upgrading in August when my contract is up, but the latest edition - the N73 - doesn't look half as nice as this phone does. I think I might jus thang onto this one for a while, which is unusua l for me, as I tend to cahnge them every 6 mnths! Great phone, well impressed with it. Rating:

Reviewed by x-emz-x on 18/06/2006 I was realy excited getting thsi phone fo christmas but 6 minths later it is driving me crazy it is heavey and my mp3 player wont work it takes forever to turn on and load. I have got a 12 month contract so i have to have for another 6 months. It has little memory on it so the mp3 does not hold any songs if you have a lot of pistures i would not not not recomend this phone to anyone. When my contract runs out im getting the D600 that is a phone worth getting! Rating:
Reviewed by ali shaikh on 10-05-2006 i have in my life used many mobile phones but never have i seen such
perfection such beauty such quality features in a single mobile phone.
its camera is a 1.3mega pixel, which compared to sony ericsons 1.3 is 100
times beter.
it has a front camera which vga,i admit its not tht clear but if u make
any video or tlk on voice call its reaally great!!
its brightnes is extra ordinary, the brightness also adjusts itself with
the intensity of light.
i really love da way its back camera slides, its like a toy for me,one
drawback in tht case is tht da surroundings of the camera get scratched but the solution for tht is to buy a fake casing and keep ur original casing safe, then when ur about to sell ur set, apply da new casing ur mobile will luk gud as new and will luk as in perfect condition(no matter how roughly u use it!.
in my opinion i luv this mobile and it my life,i can use this mobile with my eyes closed.!!! Rating:
Reviewed by dwytzkrieg@Phils. on 16-04-2006 The phone operates with simple tricks: For one, do not over do your usage of the camera's flash. It works great in really low light conditions, but not when there's enough light for the night mode feature to absorb/utilize. Second, do not make folders/sub-folders in the Image gallery window. It definitely slows how your pics are meant to be read. Instead, organize them using the Image manager. Thirdly, Use the memory card in the message storage settings to avoid getting "deferred" messages. The resending feature seems to be initiated when text messages are stored via phone memory. The fourth trick involves not shutting down the phone whenever a lag in viewing, deleting or editing pics/videos occurs, unless you'd like to lose any unsaved info upon start-up mode. 380kbps for the nokia 3G smartphones is only data transfer speed, not actually a basis for how fast the phone can perform multi-tasking. Fifth, do not expect much from the VGA front lens (hence the classification VGA). And sixth, accept that nokia has yet to perfect the part where they put in the 6680's specs: 240K color LCD. The display is just as impressive as that of the 6630 (which is not bad really). And yes the casing is durable, though the aluminum/chrome linings do scratch easily and the lens cover is a bit shakey. For the looks dept: definitely a ten (10), especially if you chance getting the black version! In Pinoy terms... ASTIG! Rating:

Reviewed by Mungo on 25-01-2006 This is a very very good phone, i have had mine for about 3 months and in that time i have, drop it into a cup of tea covering half the key pad still works, spilt at least 5 cups of tea on it still works, drop it down 15 steps bouncing 5 times, not even a scratch on it drop onto the paving outside my house , yeap still works, and the screen seems to be resistant to scrathing as well not like my SE f500 which is covered in them, as for the bluetooth well it works fine for me connection is perfect everytime, calls are crystal clear,it look very nice dressed in it black an crome armour, pictures are very good but the flash is rubbish, but it it a mobile phone first,i rate this phone 10/10, and the chess game i got for it is top notch, video calling is good network to network mine is on 3, but when i call 3 the vodafone there is same lag,
so i think that anyone who thinks this phone is poor, maybe its just a little bit to advanced for you ?????, Rating:

Reviewed by Laughing_John on 29-07-2005 An absolutely brilliant phone in (almost) every respect. Symbian is just getting better all the time and the ability to download apps is fantastic. The supplied applications are getting better and are looking pretty polished. This is also the first Nokia where I've managed to get the synchronisation working, so I'm gonna make the effort and put all my mates birthdays in. Nokia have also sorted out the ringing/phone volume - much louder than the the 6600, so no more missed calls. On the very slight down sides I'd like to have seen a better camera (2mp would have been more 'cutting edge'), and maybe a bit more attention on the MP3 side of things (operation from external buttons). And finally a bigger MM card would have been nice (say 512mb). My only other wish now is to see this functionality in a more 'sexy' clamshell design so that the screen doesn't get scratched and it's smaller, easier to carry and better looking. That said it looks a lot better than the pictures ... If you want a phone with functionality rather than a fashion phone, this is the best I've seen ..... Rating:
