THE THINGS THAT I HATE ON THIS PHONE: no fm low speaker always freezes back camera is loose THE THINGS THAT LOVE ON THIS PHONE: expandable memory card camera flash two cameras good camera but all in all i will rate this phone to 4 out of 5 stars!!! yeheyyyyy....lolzzz

ive had this phone for 18 months now and am about to change so thought id reveiw it. first and foremost, it is essential for my work daily and it has never let me down despite having been dropped a good few times and being used in all weathers(i work for the railway) so 5 stars for that. ive also used it on holidays abroad and on short breaks and again its never let me down. im no techno buff but ive taken hundreds of pics and short vids and they have all been good quality and easy to store on the pc and thats all i want. on the odd occasion it freezes but just turn it off and on and away it goes again. all in all , an excellent phone and those more intelligent, patient and tech minded than me will probably get even more out of it than i have!! ive also chucked a sim in it so i can keep it for the camera function and a spare as its still going strong. what next?? probably an n95!

Great phone. Now that they are becoming available unlocked - a terrific phone. Get a big RSMMC card with it and it rocks. I use mine for PC sync with MS-Outlook, TomTom Mobile 5, Viewranger GPS software, OGG Player, modified iPod earphones and Profimail. This set up provides me with music on the go, satnav, GPS, organiser functions, full email (with attachments), more than adequate camera, reasonable video clips, Oh - and its a phone - a damm fine one too. Not immune from crashing occasionally - but it does so a lot less often than my Pocket PC, which now does not get a look in. GET ONE, while you can...

Very disappointed with the Nokia 6680 phone which is only 8 months old and I have had to take it back a second time for repair. This phone has spent as much time faulty as it has working correctly. The screen constantly freezes, it defaults back to welcome screen while writing text messages and the backlight is intermittent. It also freezes after being recharged and I can’t do anything with it for over two hours – removing the battery doesn’t solve the problem. Work colleague has same problem with loan phone (his own was in for repair as well!); I will think twice before buying Nokia again.

I thought the idea of a large TFT screen was to be able to display basic information such as the date on the screen without having to press buttons to find out. On silent mode the date field is replaced by the word silent, so to find the date you have to go to calendar or change mode back to general. How stupid is that? A large screen but it is not used very effectively. I always have my phone on silent and it is quite annoying not to be able to have the date displayed at the same time.

I had a sony k608i on three network, thought this would be an ideal since Nokia are a reputable company and I was looking for a smartphone. After a week of use I found myself questioning my sanity having ditched my sony for this junk, so this is a 'smart' phone? Seems more of a retarded phone to me. To start the keypad is all over the place, the buttons are not set evenly and are so hard to press and the response time is so long by the time it reacts I've forgotten what I was trying to do in the first place! Probably just as well the keys are so difficult since it has no auto-lock facility, guess there's no point since the damn thing's too bulky to fit in your pocket anyway. The phone has a general brittle and flimsy feel, particularly the lens cover for the camers which feels very loose, rattles and creaks a lot and not to mention is ridiculously huge, I'd half tempted to just break it off (if I wasn't returning it). On the plus it does have expandable memory so you can stor e lots of MP3's, although the playback is so gutless you wouldn't really want to anyway, plus the earphones are poor quality and it lacks equaliser so no listening pleasure. Call clarity is pretty dire also, the speaker is not loud enough, the software is unstable and sluggish, I can hardly say enough bad things about this phone, It looks good on paper but is seriously lousy in the flesh. My k608 was way better, despite the lesser spec'. Just shows the difference a half-decent design can make. Looking into getting a p990 now, definately no more Nokias. Worthless.

I bought this phone as a replacement for my ageing Nokia 6600. One of my major quipes with the 6600 was the location of the MMC card - under the battery. Luckily, this has been rectified in the 6680. Nokia is making a lot of noise about the 262K colour screen but to be honest I can't really see that much of a difference. The keypad is excellent, it has good tactile feedback and it's very hard to miss the two soft keys. I just wish they would have made the Clear and Edit keys a tad bigger (I tend to be a klutz). I use the diary to it's full capacity and it is unbeatable and sync's with Outlook superbly. Only really changing as the 6680 was dropped a few months ago and looks a wee bit tired now. Great phone, you won't be disappointed.

I originally bought the Nokia 6680 to use primarily for running Tom-Tom via my mobile, something that it does to great effect by the way. I then got more interested in the actual performance and workings of the phone and found it to be excellent in most areas. It looks great, is not overly sized and is easy to get to grips with. If there any downsides then they may include the battery life, which is possibly shortened by my regular use of Tom-Tom but still seems to require a recharge after a day, two at best. The camera is a lot better than has been judged by other reviewers and remember you can record a video up to an hour in length. Themes are readily available to allow you to customise your phone to suit your tastes, one female seller on eBay had glued pink diamante beads all over her 6680 which looked revolting. My phone came with no games whatsoever but I am not a great game player so this was not a problem for me, but is worth checking out if you are. All in all you get an awful lot of phone for you money and they can be picked up for around £60 on eBay in pristine condition. A word of warning though, they can be hard to get unlocked, I have one on the 3 network and have yet to find anyone locally that can unlock them. I have to say that Vodafone are very accommodating and will happily issue you with a NUC (Network Unlocking Code) code, you simply provide the IME number and make and model of the phone. Some other networks insist on knowing the full history of the phone and it is easier to have the previous owner contact them for you, this not only saves time but also money. Some networks seem to charge you depending on how long you have owned the phone, not simply by the age of the phone, Vodafone seem happy to give you the code free if the phone is over a year old. Orange is by far the most unhelpful company I have dealt with, either for unlocking purposes or simply general inquiries.

I had this phone for about a year, when the 3G scene first began. I was very impressed at first with all the features it had to offer and the fact it had an operating system that you can install to etc. The camera was very good at the time, but now dated. One of the main drawbacks for me was the fact that the phone does not have a automatic keypad lock which is annoying, however you can download one from the net. It does not seem to run games very well, as if it doesn't have the processing power needed. The slowness of the phone is its biggest weekness. Menus seem to take ages to exit from, and apps are slow to start. This problem is annoying when you press the exit to homescreen button , and lock the phone, you end up with a star on the screen, and the keys locked, which although doesnt affect anything, is still very annoying. In all I liked the phone, but as it was one of the first 3G phones realased, it feels like to many things were put on the phone which it cant handle.

I hate this phone! I've had it for a year now and cant wait to upgrade. Sometimes when I try to take a picture it says I dont have any memory then wont save if but I have loads of memory left. Also when I have a missed call it shows up on the screen but then I can't clear it and have to switch it off then back on again. It is also really slow, when I select an option it takes ages. Wouldnt recommend it!!

Have had this for 12 months now and as a phone it's average. But what makes this phone and others Series 60 phones special (eg N70) is the ability to put 3rd party apps on it. I have Mame on it for games, a GPS app for satnav, a utility to turn bluetooth on and off at set times, it can play ogg as well as mp3 files. Admittedly not a fast phone and does crash every so often, and is quite big. I am just waiting for the smaller N73 now.

Well, I had rad loads of reviews on tis phone prior to purchasing, and was in two minds aboout it. I wanted a Symbian phone ( for versatility ) and wanted to try a 3G phone for the novelty so of all the phones out there on the market, this one was about the only choice. THe N70 was still too new to be affordable, as I was buying a sim free phone. I have to say, the longer I've owned the phone, the more impressed I've been with it. It does exactly what its supposed to do, and has handled verything I've thrown at it. Bluetooth works great, its syncs with my Mac , I've added a 512mb card, so can store loads of pics, videos etc. Downloaded SmartMovie so can watch movies ripped from my DVD colllection, and have recently added TomTom Mobile, which works great with the phone. I was looking at upgrading in August when my contract is up, but the latest edition - the N73 - doesn't look half as nice as this phone does. I think I might jus thang onto this one for a while, which is unusua l for me, as I tend to cahnge them every 6 mnths! Great phone, well impressed with it.

When my contract runs out im getting the D600 that is a phone worth getting!

The phone operates with simple tricks: For one, do not over do your usage of the camera's flash. It works great in really low light conditions, but not when there's enough light for the night mode feature to absorb/utilize. Second, do not make folders/sub-folders in the Image gallery window. It definitely slows how your pics are meant to be read. Instead, organize them using the Image manager. Thirdly, Use the memory card in the message storage settings to avoid getting "deferred" messages. The resending feature seems to be initiated when text messages are stored via phone memory. The fourth trick involves not shutting down the phone whenever a lag in viewing, deleting or editing pics/videos occurs, unless you'd like to lose any unsaved info upon start-up mode. 380kbps for the nokia 3G smartphones is only data transfer speed, not actually a basis for how fast the phone can perform multi-tasking. Fifth, do not expect much from the VGA front lens (hence the classification VGA). And sixth, accept that nokia has yet to perfect the part where they put in the 6680's specs: 240K color LCD. The display is just as impressive as that of the 6630 (which is not bad really). And yes the casing is durable, though the aluminum/chrome linings do scratch easily and the lens cover is a bit shakey. For the looks dept: definitely a ten (10), especially if you chance getting the black version! In Pinoy terms... ASTIG!

An absolutely brilliant phone in (almost) every respect. Symbian is just getting better all the time and the ability to download apps is fantastic. The supplied applications are getting better and are looking pretty polished. This is also the first Nokia where I've managed to get the synchronisation working, so I'm gonna make the effort and put all my mates birthdays in. Nokia have also sorted out the ringing/phone volume - much louder than the the 6600, so no more missed calls. On the very slight down sides I'd like to have seen a better camera (2mp would have been more 'cutting edge'), and maybe a bit more attention on the MP3 side of things (operation from external buttons). And finally a bigger MM card would have been nice (say 512mb). My only other wish now is to see this functionality in a more 'sexy' clamshell design so that the screen doesn't get scratched and it's smaller, easier to carry and better looking. That said it looks a lot better than the pictures ... If you want a phone with functionality rather than a fashion phone, this is the best I've seen .....
