Nokia 6610

Product Rating

Nokia 6610 The Nokia 6610 is an excellent all-round phone with a colour screen, polyphonic ringtones, stereo FM radio and triple band, as well as Java games. Its appearance is more conventional than the similar-spec Nokia 7210, and it has a much better keypad.

The Nokia 6610 is in all other respects very similar to the 7210. Its keypad incorporates a nice 4-way scroll button. It's a nice slimline, lightweight phone with good battery life. The phone comes is a choice of colours, with changeable x-press on covers available.

The Java capability means that you can download games just as easily as downloading ringtones or graphics. As well as Java games, you can also download applications like personal assistants, travel and information tools. Pre-installed Java applications include a thermometer, currency and measurement converter, a portfolio manager, and two games.

MMS means that you can send and receive multimedia messages containing text, MIDI audio files, and graphics or animations.

Features of the Nokia 6610 include:

  • WAP 1.2.1, GPRS & HSCSD (High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data)
  • MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)
  • Downloadable Java games & applications
  • Colour display (4096 colours, 128x128 pixels)
  • Polyphonic ringtones (MIDI format), plus standard ringtones
  • Integrated stereo FM radio
  • Integrated handsfree speaker
  • Predictive text input
  • Mobile chat
  • Changeable x-press on covers
  • Phonebook (300 names)
  • Built-in infra-red modem
  • Downloadable colour wallpaper
  • 2 games
  • Size: 106 x 45 x 18 mm
  • Weight: 84g
  • Battery standby: 150 - 300 hours
  • Battery talktime: 2 - 5 hours
  • Tri band

i have been using the 6610 for the last 4yrs and think it is great the keypad is at a good size not like other phones where the pad is that small you press other buttons. the screen is a nice size and colourful it is sleek and ideal for pockets i like the phone as it doesn't have alot of technology on it although it could of had bluetooth on it but the battery life is fantastic i only have to charge the phone once a week all i need and use a phone for is texting and talking on and the 6610 is great for it

My first phone, & been using it for 4 years. It's a bit sketchy, but IT's very dependable, & it's GPRS runs for some reason or another just as good as my friends' new phones. Will replace it soon, but it's gonna be hard to top this phone in terms of dependability, unless I go for 6300 or something to that effect.

This phone will last for years on end. But the feutres for me are not so good. The phone has camera which cant zoom or take a video with. The phone has infared( :) ) but wont connect to any other device apart form the PC. The software on it is really rubbish. On the bright side it texts really well though

Nokia 6610 is rubbish. The display cannot be seen in sunlight. The connector to a Hands free earpiece is impossible to connect without a struggle - certainly not while driving a car. The keypad layout has the buttons too close together. Makes it hard to dial or text. Shame on you Nokia

I had purchased the initial Nokia 6610(not the one you mentioned in your review) model more than an year back when it was very costly and have had no problem with it. Generally speaking, what matters is speed, effeciency and durablity. I have been regularly using it with my notebook and otherwise and: a) the speed and effeciency with which it connects you(it is "tri-band" meaning you can use it anywhere in the world)to internet and downloads webpages and other downloads, you really feel the world is in your palm or the PC so to say. b) its reception is so powerful that it catches signal anywhere, from enclosed storerooms to the basements, one of the qualities this phone has become very famous for and is sought after even now. I see cell-users running to the balcony or open spaces holding newer/costlier sets(no offence meant)to be able to answer the call. c) this speakerphone has a superb FM Radio feature, with the sounds(in stereo) zooming around your head. d) When on vacation, I have used this phone to work/websurf on Internet continuously for 4 days without any swithch off or respite so to say and No Problemo. Sometimes, the downloading/traffic on the phone went on countinuously for more than 5-8 hours. e) it is very beautiful(looks like a damsel with its curvy features) and handy. f) it is a complete phone in its class with other features like MMS, Chat, Java Applications/Games (Downloads/Runs Games smoothly, easily & speedily), Good Color range etc. g) those who wanna buy it, please buy it from an authorised/good dealer, so that they get an original set and don't have to complain. e) video recording/playing feature with much larger memory would be appreciable but that would make it costlier. On the whole, it is an outstanding phone in its calss for the combination of features it offers and also which is so effecient, durable, beautiful and handy.

It looks quite good, handy & worth for money. I bought black color which is excellent everybody says. But the display resolution is not so good as expected. Main disadvantage is we cant send any ringtones to any mobile since there is no composer or sending options. Polyphonic tones cant be transfered without GPRS connection in these type of mobile. Phone has many useful options, it has stereo radio(good one). I suggest everybody to go for it. I bought for Indian currency(rupees), Rs.7750/- with warrenty of 1 year.

This phone is an absolutely ravishing phone. It has all the ingredients to be a very successful phone. But as compared to Nokia 6100,the Nokia 6610 is quite large. That's why it deserves 1 star less than what I would have given to Nokia 6100. Its color screen is magnificient. This phone along with its FM Radio has a lot of features to work with. It's slightly similar to the Nokia 7250 but some problems in the beginning.

Great light, small phone with all features than the more expensive 6100. With radio which 6100 lacks, it is certainly of more value. I am taking a star away due to the less than perfect colors and clarity of the display. If you want to know what I mean, compare it to the Nokia 5100. After seeing the difference, I always feel a little disappointed when seeing the display of the 6610/6100. Overall a great phonw with a good look.
