After owning the 6500 slide for 6 months now I have found it to be generally excellent, and I'm pretty hard to please! On the down side, keypad does suffer light scratches and these are impossible to avoid. "Scratch-proof" casing is anything but, my silver cover is covered with, again, light scratches. This may be due to my lack of care but I doubt it. Occasionally the wallpaper I have selected reverts back to the standard Nokia one but this matter disappears when the image is moved from my memory card to the phone memory. On the positive side, battery life is faultless, the navigation is a pleasure and very instinctive, music player and sound quality is excellent, the phone is weighty and feels well built and the screen quality is superb (the screen itself is extremely durable) Trust me on this, anybody who rates this any less than 4* has just had bad personal experiences. If the keypad didn't scratch (which initially is a big issue) this phone would be a genuine classic. Very, very happy.

I got the 'phone with a 3 contract..kept locking up mainly when trying to use the camera. the only 'cure' is to remove the battery. Took it to 3 in banbury where I bought it from they were not helpful..threatened to 'send it away' but had no loan phone for me! Took it to the local nokia repairer who reinstalled the software f.o.c.(they bill nokia).. now it has never locked when using the camera but will, on occasion, not unlock from the standby keylock mode. The battery life is appalling, it rarely lasts more than a day.I am not a heavy user. I bought a 'spare' higher capacity battery off ebay which is no better. As mentioned in other posts it gets extremley hot after not too many minutes use. Like most I have had a number of 'phones in my life, predominatley nokia..but this ranks as the worst performing phone I have ever owned. Looks great but would not reccommend it to a friend !

Decided to go onto contract a week ago and chose the Nokia 6500 slide in silver as my phone (was using a trusty Nokia 3510i before). Apart from my 6500 freezing on me the day after I had it and I had to remove the battery to get it working again, I have to say I am really pleased with my phone. A number of users seem to worry about the weight of the phone, but this is something that I like, it's great to have a something that feels sturdy. So many of the phones on the market feel flimsy and look like they would break easily. I found it took me a few days to get used to texting (this is because I've been used to much larger keys that are all separate), but I am up to speed again now. Screen resolution is great, battery life is adequate - am a textaholic, so it's lasting about 3 days. I realise it is relatively early days of me using my new phone, but I have to say that I am really chuffed with it and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I am not very happy with this Nokia 6500 slide. The software hangs anytime and everytime. The camera sound can't be muted so you may be in a fix someday. The clarity is too good no doubt but what's the use if the camera sound cannot be muted. And top of all out of 10 calls that I get in a week 9 of them complain that my number is not in use..What's wrong? So folks please think twice before purchasing this kinda phone. May be its the problem with only my handset but never know which one of you follows me..

I have now had the 6500 slide in black for 2 days. So far so good, i think this phone is lovely, but it depends what you want and it's always a compromise when it comes to the features. The 3.2meg camera seems to provide outstanding quality pictures, the sound quality is also brilliant, the in built memory is good enough for me. I also connected the phone to the TV, all sees quite good. To me it seems to an advancement on the Nokia 6280 i had some time back, as people may remember that phone had a few faults. With my experience so far i would recommend this phone to people out there!

I've had this phone for a couple of months now on the 3 network. It's a great looking phone with solid build quality and a good sized screen. Although it's a little bigger than a lot of the slimline phones out there, it's still small enough and light enough to carry around in your pocket. It has all the features you'd expect, great camera, great music player etc.Although Nokia's have a reputation for being easy to use with straightforward menu's, having used this phone for 2 months now, I actually prefer the Sony Ericsson menu system. The major faults with this phone are the lousy battery and signal reception. Nokia claim it has over 300 hours standby and 6 hours talktime but even when I don't use it very often I'm still having to charge it every couple of days. Although it does give you a couple of warnings when the battery is low, it tends to die suddenly. The battery on my previous Sony Ericsson used to cling on for ages, even when it was down to just 5% power and with average use I would only have to charge it once every 5 or 6 days. What's even worse is the reception. The signal constantly fluctuates between weak and absolutely nothing. Call quality is extremely poor. Callers sound echo-ey and there's usually a faint buzzing sound. Often callers struggle to hear what I'm saying. At first I thought it was a network problem but having spoken to 3, they say it's a common problem with this phone. How on earth can a major player like Nokia, who you would think know a thing or two about mobile phones, create such a gorgeous looking phone but forget to actually make it useable?! Surely the main purpose of a mobile PHONE is to be able to make and receive PHONEcalls!! If you're thinking of getting one of these.....think again.

excellent mobile, theres just 1 annoying fault. if you slightly knock the back cover it does something to the memory card holder which stops the mobile from reading it, this resets your ringtone wallpaper ect back to default, if like me you hate changing your wallpaper, ringtone ect back 10 days a day the easier way to overcome the problem is to save your ringtone and that to the phone memory then they wont keep resetting them selves. apart from that one fault with the memory card the nokia 6500 slide is an excellent mobile its similiar to the 6280 and 6288 but much better looking and better features. the mobile has a great feel to it and worth the money.

I got the phone last monday on the 3g network i got it in black and after id ordered it i looked at some of the reviews and thought i had made the wrong choice. However after using the phone myself i think its one of the best ive ever had Camera quality is brilliant although it does lack some effects sound quality is amazing especially through the headphones and it is a very easy to use phone i dont like the fact that when i remove the back cover the phone wont recognise that there is a memory card inside it..very annoying as most of my themes, music and ringtones are saved on my memory card. overall i think it is a stunning phone, much better than the classic version, which i had a few months back and unfortunately the screen cracked and the phone broke into two...which wasnt very good at all. i am impressed with the battery life as i listen to a lot of music so the music is always playing thrugh my headphones whether i am listening to it or not and my bluetooth also remains on, as does my gprs and i can still come home with the battery indicator showing full overall i believe its a brilliant phone, one of the best nokias since the 6300, which in my opinion was an absolutely stunning phone some people have complained about the size of the 6500 slide in comparison to the 6500 classic personally i prefer bulkier phones with a bit of weight i hate these flimsy samsungs that are being created and are all only about the length of your nail in size its annoying and makes it much more easier to lose your phone as its so light you wont notice that its gone the bulkiness of the phone adds to the professional and much more extravagant feel of it a brilliant creation by nokia once again all praise goes to nokia for making such an outstanding phone

I've had this phone for roughly 6-8 weeks, and to be completely honest, I've found no major problems with it. I upgraded from an LG KG225, so this was a huge thing for me. A $90 phone to a $500 odd phone. You really notice the difference. The camera is great, there's nice clear sound with a nice big screen and biggish buttons (I can use my fingers and not my nails to press them! :D). It's got a nice, simple layout that's also simple to use, even my nan would be able to navigate it! I just have 2 small things to mention about it though. It will sometimes lag up. Not a complete freeze, but you just have to give it a second or so to catch up with what you're trying to do. The other is that because of it's finish and slidey nature, a lot of marks appear on it (Fingerprints mainly and scratches from sliding on the keypad). Nothing too major though. The battery life is an improvement from my previous phone, so no complaints there and it's weight, although making my pants heavier, I can actually tell if the phone is still in my pocket or not. Makes it harder to lose. 4 stars because it's not perfect, but what is?

1. Nokia 6500 Slide is the only slider that does not wear out or grind when opening and closing it, all other model’s sliders ruin in short time periods thus rendering the phone useless and aggravating to operate. 2.It is 123 grams and feels good and is solid. 3.Amazingly after EMT transmission testing it generates far far less than any other 3 and 3.5 generation mobile phone meaning: NO CANCER and reception is very good. 4.The 4GB micro SD memory card from Sandisk works wonders with the Nokia 6500S and allows 4.5 hours of video high quality filming with zoom in/out, you must manually adjust the phone settings to your personal settings preference. I hid my phone behind books with the camera lens facing my work station, I caught who had been stealing my graphic ideas and customer listings while I was on lunch break 1hr, to do this you must remember to set your phone to flight so it doesn’t “RING” while filming. 5.It is quick to respond when key depressing and has many many adjustment settings, discover the phone fully. 6.NOTE: The 6500 slider has 1 major fault in my opinion, the “loud speaker is terribly low when listening to incoming calls on it, the music plays loudly and with fine quality and has many adjustments for sound quality. Summary: Over all the 6500S is a high quality mobile phone with much to offer and is more than enough for most users, it is priced fairly and I feel I received my moneys worth. Thank You Nokia! Firstly I would like to state something I have noticed about the reviews process, there are those who seem to hate something and put one star then there are those whos world is never perfect and put four, then there are those people who will put up with anything and put five! - I should be in the four star category writing this review but.... This phone is junk, there is no other way to say it, Nokia...well what can I say, I have had 7 phones in my life and all of them have been Nokia. I have always been a Nokia person and always thought I would be although that may change next time. Starting with battery life: okay okay you may argue that if i do watch video clips on my phone my battery life will be greatly reduced but this is a 3G phone!!! its design is mainly for functions such as video and music. I watch the weather on my phone every morning which seems to start the issue of battery life, The phone allows the user to add a 4gb memory card which is something I have done although it doesnt make sense when you realise you can only listen to about 100mb of that music before the battery life is yet again greatly affected. The worst bit about the memory card is because of the type of holder, everytime the phone is banged it comes out of place and the phone then has to redetect all of the music on the memory card which slows the whole phone down so much it cannot open games or use the internet, this normally takes about 5 minutes to complete. 3G overheating: everytime i use the 3G for more than around 5 minutes i get a nice warm sensation on my hand, it is a very nice warmth - especially in winter but it should not happen - it is not energy efficient and causes the phone to lock up. Returns: the phone has been returned 7 times (I am actually on my 3rd phone) initially the navigation buttons squeaked when the phone was open, the problem was then the phone locking up and the latest problem has been the 3G, while this phone has been in for repair I decided to get my good ol' 6230i unlocked and started using it again, it really made me miss it!!! I have no personal hate for this phone like many people, I just think it was built in a rush, great design, shame about the lack of stamina!

worst phone i've ever had.not problems but its da system and the sumhow different style of browsing and user-friendliness.the previous nokias i had was a 3250 and a 7610..which had problems bt nothin compared to dis. 1.the keypad lock is rubbish..sumtimes u cant unlock the phone at all..even with slide on-slide off it wont unlock..have to take da battery off. 2.da 3.2 mgpixel camera sucks.my past 3250 (2mgpixel) and 7610 (1.3mgpixel) gives better pics than dis.i blame the lousy autofocus which u CANT override.nice colour though. 3.isnt user friendly.past nokia phone hav shortcuts on keys for example wen viewing pics..button 5 and 0 for zooming and unzooming, button 1 and 3 for rotating and * button for full screen..dis phone does none of dat except for full screening.u have to go to MENU then choose ZOOM or ROTATE the u have to choose wat degree of rotation..its dreadful.and did i mention da viewing zoom is rubbish? 4. u cant copy data from memory card to phone memory u can only MOVE it..and once u copy/move a data into da memory card, i dare u to try and move it again to one of the folders in dat same memory card..(its impossible unless with PC Suite) 5. the flash is so blinding u cant look at it straight..cud lit up da whole moon.. 6. i prefer the old style where wen u press and hold the MENU button it shows wat programs dat are currently running in the background..dis phone does not do dat..it switches off any programs it bloody likes wen u press the end call button. 7. i hate how it ask u "are u sure u want to exit application?" everytime u exit a program..i believe dis is due to problem #6 bcoz u might accidently pressed da exit button while on a program.in the old nokias if u accidently hit exit,da program wud stil be running in the background and u juz have to press and hold MENU button to have it back.sort of like minimizing and maximizing.dat was brilliant before..why strip dat out now? 8. da organizer really sucks big time..now wen u write a note it doesnt save da date and time wen u wrote it and also now notes dat u recently add are lined downwards instead of upwards. there are more its da things dats usual wit a nokia phone..please..if its my phone's da only one like dis and it can sumhow be solved..u have my email up there and pls help me out..juz in case ur wondering my phone has the latest update..

Great phone. For a 'mid-range' phone it's got loads of good kit on it and the camera, with the Carl Zeiss lense is very good. People seem to argue that it's heavy or chunky; I would completely disagree. It's metal(effect?) casing and general weight lend a reliable, reassuring feeling to the phone. It is by no means a big phone; especially when the slide is closed. It isn't the most slim mobile on the market, but it is by no means too chunky. As I say, I feel it has a reassuringly heavy feel to it, like something valuable. Overall, very easy to use, great features and really good looking/feeling.

I've read most of all the reviews (there are just so many...), and I agree with the large majority of the users: this phone is great! I've only had it for a few days, but I've already explored it enough to say that it will not let you down. Battery life is good, first time I recharged it lasted me 3 days (so no complaints there). The camera is really good, not as good as my old phone (Nokia N73). It's a very stylish phone with a great professional look, the slider isn't flimsy. As for the sound, it's good, but Nokia could have put some more work on the MP3 interface. The TV-out is a great function that not many phones have...it's useful for those nights where family reunions gather up to watch the holiday videos! All in all, I do not regret having bought this phone...I would recommend it without a shadow of a doubt. Thanks Nokia ;)!

Second phone, turned the phone back on about three hours ago and it turned itself back off after the Nokia Welcome Screen, it's dodgy and rather annoying... Haven't been able to get it fixed so i guess i will be on my third 6500s very soon... Phone IS durable but the memory card turns itself off and the phone seems to be controlled by a ghost. What i mean is that it changes settings such as wallpaper and ring tone all the time... Text message storage is fantastic, i got over 6000 texts all together on my first phone. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

However, upon signing up and feeling really happy I came home and decided to look at the reviews!!!! My jaw dropped to the floor when I read the catalogue of problems: batter life, freezing, reverting back to factory settings! I wanted to ring up the call centre in Mumbai and tell the forget it! But the phone was on its way. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the phone is amazing! Does everything it says in the manual and feels sturdy and secure. I don't think you can take every review as the truth because like mine, it might not be the same for you. Perhaps they had a faulty production line. Might I add it's stainless steel so it will not scratch.

I have had this phone since jan 08 at first i thought it was great but then i soon changed my mind about it. Three weeks into getting the phone it crashed on occasions, then when people were ringing or txting me the ringtone wasn't working, so i phoned up 3 and they sent me an upgrade and told me that it would fix it. couple of months down the line it starts happening again. But wait for it.... yes more problems occurred the phone started heating up and the battery wasn't lasting more then 24 hours. Then the phone started freezing. So I took it to the shop where they sent it off to be repaired. When I got it back i thought great no more problems. But within 2 hours of getting it back it started again. Now I've got to take it back again. This phone is poorly made and I've also been told that some of the 6500 slides need updating regularly. So be warned about this phone.

I did ask the sales person the 3 shop i got the phone and he advised to turn the phone on as soon as i got in and let the battery run out before applying the first charge of 12 hours, this seems to have worked. I might be in the minority but i actually think the camera is a bit better than my last phone K800i. I would say my only slight disapointments are the music player sound quality is not that great, once you take a picture it seems to take forever to save it and i dont like not being able to adjust the brightness of the screen. Had this mobile for about a week now, and had problems with it freezing and resetting itself back to factory settings i.e. back to nokia wallpaper and nokia ringtone, this is due to bad contacts from the memory card. However...this is easily overcome by saving your wallpaper and ringtone that you choose in the phone and not the memory card!! By doing this the wallpaper and ringtone will not be changed if the back of the phone moves about! Pretty good phone apart from that! I upgraded from a much loved Sony Erricson thinking that I should have a change as I have had 3 Sony Ericsons. I have owned my Nokia 6500 slide for just over a month now and made the mistake of buying it before reading the reviews. It was fine and I was very pleased with it UNTIL a week ago. I am experiencing problems with the memory card - it keeps saying its been removed when of course it hasnt. This causes problems in that it wont let me see photos etc and also access ringtones that I have downloaded. The phone also goes off on and does its own thing and happily goes through the options while all I can do is sit and watch it. When I do manage to get into the card and access a picture for the screensaver it then defaults itself back to the Nokia settings. I took it back and had the software updated today - but when I got it home am experiencing the same problems. Looks like another trip to Carphone Warehouse - however from reading lots of reviews looks like I am not going to get much satisfaction with this phone. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr - so far so good with the battery though. Have to say I wish I had stuck with the Sony Erricson.

And when you go into your text messages, it displays the time and date when it was received at the bottom of the screen. In all the other mobiles I have had (and that's been a fair few!!!)
