6500 slide has many problems. it cuts out very often. it deletes photos and locks the keypad. basically, its a poor example of a nokia phone. it's entirely annoying to live with seeing as it turns off mid conversation and so on. bad choice. sorry.

So had this phone 2 months now...got in the 18 month contract as im a textaholic and was spending £50 a week...anyway...i love the phone, i've always loved Nokias and always loved Slide phones but was less than impressed with the first Nokia Slide a few years back. I like the weight, although i dont think its stupidly heavy and it is very simple to use. Camera and Music player is great quality and i love that the headset and charger have different holes in the phone so i can be listening to my music while charging my phone...also really like the fact the charger hole is at the top...so much easier when texting while charging...however..although the phone can hold upto 2000 messages [i didnt delete my texts to see] once i reach 300 [which is a days worth for me] the phone seriously slows down...also the battery life is really appaulling. every night i charge it for 8 hours and i can gurantee that by 7pm the next day its dead!! Also has a tendancy to crash for no appa rent reason and the screen sometimes blacks out. the battery doesnt bother me too much as i charge my phones everynight anyway but the slowness is very frustrating at times. considering taking it back if it doesn pick up. if they sorted these these things out..it would be a fab phone!! so off you go to the shop =]

Buy this phone at your peril!! Having waited a week because o2 didnt have any in stock, I was looking forward to getting what seemed to be a popular phone. However I soon discovered that the reviews I read are true: the phone does not remember settings you put on it, e.g. photo as wallpaper or new ring tone, so resorts within minutes to the factory settings. Very annoying. Especially when a phone starts ringing and you dont even realise it's yours because you thought you'd changed the ringtone! I tried to send it back to o2. The first time they didnt collect it so I put my sim back in my phone to discover that it hadnt remembered any of my contacts, nor when I added a new contact would it remember any of these. It just said empty when I went to my list of contacts. Also, the phone does feel like a brick, and I didnt think I'd be bothered about this but it was also annoying! So stay away from this phone!!

I'm in two minds about this phone. One minute I love it, the next, I hate it! It occasionally freezes, this usually happens when typing a text, and then sometimes when sliding the phone upwards it fails to unlock. Recently when calling my phone bank etc the keypad freezes leaving me unable to press for menu options. Those are times i hate this phone. Yet most of the time I love it. Loads of people have commented on how good it looks, and I put the camera to good use on a recent trip to Scotland. Those pictures came out fantastic! I get much better reception than with my old phone, and the 3G services run smoothly. Overall I'm giving this a 4*'s as the pros easily outweigh the cons, but not quite enough to make this a perfect 5!

THE BATTERY IS TERRIBLE, IT FREEZES ALL THE TIME AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T ACTUALLY LET ME UNLOCK IT. I'VE ALWAYS HAD GOOD LUCK WITH EVERY SONY BRAND IN THE PAST, DECIDED TO CHANGE TO NOKIA AS I STUPIDLY TRUSTED THE PERSON ON THE PHONE, AND LOW AND BEHOLD, I NOW OWN THE WORLD'S WORST PHONE. MAYBE I'VE BEEN UNLUCKY, BUT I'M JUST WARNING YOU, I'M HAVING A BAD TIME WITH THIS PHONE, AND I WOULD HATE IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO HAVE SUCH A TIME TOO. REALLY GUTTED, REALLY REALLY GUTTED. WOULD GIVE IT NO STARS, BUT I'M NOT ALLOWED.

I've only had the phone for a couple of days, but I love it. The design is great, holding it feels very good. Keys have a great tactile response. The phone is fast, camera takes good pictures, the only thing that bugs me a little is that the slider part is about half a milimeter wider than the back part (it's very hard to see it, but you can feel it on the right side), seems to be a design fault. So far I can't say anything about software problems, although it seems to be working fine. I've heard people say the phone has lots of bugs, and other people say that their phone works great, so I guess it's a matter of luck... About the battery life..I've only recharged it twice so far. Battery lasted me 1 day of playing with it A LOT. I don't tend to play on the phone much, so I guess once my excitement passes, on a regular use it would last about 4-5 days...

bought the phone and am very impressed, honestly thought it was going to be rubbish! runs on series 40 platform so is very quick compared to the s60 series in terms of browsing through menus and waiting for texts and images to load. camera is pretty good and slide is sturdy (although the phone could be a lot slimmer!). battery life is slightly above average with about 4-5 days usage with regular texting and occasional play with games, listen to a few songs. overall, phone is really good and much better than its Classic brother. recommended!

I really wanted this phone to be good, but have just arranged to return the third one to Orange, to be replaced with a SE C902. If the 6500s was built instead of thrown together, it would be a cracker. But it is unfortunately close to junk, so much so that Orange said I should keep it when my replacement arrives - they don't even want it back! On the plus side, the camera is OK, except in bright light when you cannot see a thing on the screen. Given that it is a phone though, and not a camera, I suppose that's to be expected to some extent. Battery life is OK if you turn off 3G. Otherwise, a big disappointment:- on all of mine the slider was either off-centre and/or bigger than the phone body; the slider wobbles when open, especially while writing texts; the back of the phone is so thin it bends - all of mine were bent when I got them (I do know how to remove the back properly; as a result of the dodgy back, the memory card keeps 'disappearing' due to a dodgy connection, so settings like wallpaper and ringtones reset to defaults; because of the bendy back it gets full of dust and presumably moisture would have no problem finding a way in there as well. It generally gives the impression that it won't last a couple of months, never mind the 18mnths of my contract. Credit to Orange for agreeing to replace it with a new model SE, although they did take some persuading. Hopefully the new C902 will be as good as my old W810i which is still going strong for my son 36 months after I got it. That was a good phone!

had this phone on upgrade - nice looking phone, but quite heavy (compared to my old SE w850i). the camera isn't as good as it should be and takes too long to process pictures, so if you're in low light or subject is moving then it gets a bit blurry. other than that its easy to navigate, texting is easy and the menus are all quite intuitive. sound quality is good. the mem card you get with it is pretty small so you have to keep deleting messages and photos. not a bad phone, but not brilliant - thus i'm giving it 4 stars....

Now, theres been alot of discussion about themes, ring tones and such reseting themselves every so often, now i recently discovered why the phone does this. whenever the back plate housing the battery, sim card and memory card comes off, the phone resets most of its settings to factory default, so if you don't take the plate off your settings are fine. Now people have been saying that the phone freezes mostly all the time, in my case the phone is absoloutely fine, no problems whatsoever. Now in my opinion the sound quality on this phone is amazing, but if its on full blast in an enclosed space its no wonder why the sound quality is a bit blured. Now the camera quality again is brillinat, but people saying that its not 3.2 megapixels is not the case. after comparing quality from both the n73 and the 6500 the picture quality is near enough the same, but as i recently found out the 6500 photo sizes are a bit big which will make them blured, so all you have to do is change that. now the battery, well isnt as good as i would hope, lasts 2 days on average for me, but it might just be me. now people reporting that when they phone people, the guy on the other end can't hear them, with me that isn't the case, i talk all the time on this phone and have not ran into any problems whatsoever so far. so all in all this is a great phone does eveything you need and looks amazing 5/5 from me guys :)

I have had the phone for over two months and would not recommend it to anyone. There is a known fault with the phone which reverts back to the factory settings. Therefore the standardize ringtone and wallpaper. After speaking to my mobile operator Orange I was told this was known fault and there was nothing that can be done other than sticking cello tape around the battery. I'm not impressed as I'm now stuck with this phone for a further 14 months. Apart from that a good phone.

This phone is everything you would want in a phone. Decent camera, decent memory (can hold 4gb memory cards!) and the sound is also decent, (it goes very loud) I've had it for 4 days, an im very impressed, its nice aesthetically, got a nice weight-age if you no what i mean (not to light/not to heavy). Sending text messages takes no time at all. The LED flash for the camera is brilliant, and the video recording is also brilliant due to quick frames per second. The battery; well when you first get it, on full charge it will last a day, but i've found a way to improve it ;) 1st. use up all the battery. 2nd. charge over night for 8hours+ 3rd. repeat this process 2 more times. AND BAM.. u get 3 days of charge :) so dont listen to anymore complaining about the battery life. I would highly recommend this to anyone!!! :D brilliant phone!

I'm sorry to all the people who like the phone, dont get me wrong it is very easy to use and it looks very sleek, but am I the only one having problems with the silent button? When I press the # key the phone doesnt turn on silent and its so frustrating because it has the little silent symbol there!! Also, I dropped it yesterday (ON CARPET) and the screen cracked?? Ok, maybe thats the real reason why Im sending the phone back but there are other flaws such as whenever I set the ringtone to a tune of my choice it seems to change back to the default Nokia tune after about 3 calls?? Don't get me wrong the phone has its up sides (maybe its just my one that was a throwback when they were making them?) the camera quality is excellent, much better than the Sony w910i which I had previously, and the music quality is better which is saying alot. I reckon its a good phone, the battery life is great, lasts me for about 3 days and thats with me being a chatterbox, so if you want, you can take a chance, hopefully you wont get a throwback phone like I did!!

After having my Nokia 6500 slide phone for only 2 weeks I was very disappointed to find that the push bar slide strip has come off halfway across. I went into the Three shop on Monday 2 June 08 to complain and was told to "superglue" it after they said that they could not fix it or send me a replacement as it would be classed as "wear and tear". This I find not acceptable at all, after only using the phone for a couple of weeks. If the strip came off which it would eventually it would spoil the appearance of the phone.I have also sent an e mail to Three.co.uk to complain as I expect them to replace this phone, which I do like, or fix it correctly.

Had the phone for about a month now. Love the camera and video quality both are very good for a mobile phone and a TV link lead comes in the box which is great. As with all Nokia's I find the menu system second to none. Plus the metal body gives a very high build quality. Minor niggles include: Average battery life I get about a days heavy use out of the phone, but I do work in a poor signal area and have bluetooth turned on, so not too bad. You lose a shortdial number (number 2) is video calling rather than voice and this does tend to prolong dialling your favourite number. Texting is also a little long winded. Rather than just going straight to your contacts, once you finish composing your text you are given four options including favourites, recently used, groups and contacts..not sure if your can change this in the settings. My biggest niggle is the blasted thing pulls at my hair when I just use the hand set. I think the slide design must have a slight gap between case and the screen which keeps trapping my locks! I would seriously recommend this phone.

After owning the 6500 slide for 6 months now I have found it to be generally excellent, and I'm pretty hard to please! On the down side, keypad does suffer light scratches and these are impossible to avoid. "Scratch-proof" casing is anything but, my silver cover is covered with, again, light scratches. This may be due to my lack of care but I doubt it. Occasionally the wallpaper I have selected reverts back to the standard Nokia one but this matter disappears when the image is moved from my memory card to the phone memory. On the positive side, battery life is faultless, the navigation is a pleasure and very instinctive, music player and sound quality is excellent, the phone is weighty and feels well built and the screen quality is superb (the screen itself is extremely durable) Trust me on this, anybody who rates this any less than 4* has just had bad personal experiences. If the keypad didn't scratch (which initially is a big issue) this phone would be a genuine classic. Very, very happy.

Took it to the local nokia repairer who reinstalled the software f.o.c.(they bill nokia).. now it has never locked when using the camera but will, on occasion, not unlock from the standby keylock mode. The battery life is appalling, it rarely lasts more than a day.I am not a heavy user. I bought a 'spare' higher capacity battery off ebay which is no better. As mentioned in other posts it gets extremley hot after not too many minutes use. Like most I have had a number of 'phones in my life, predominatley nokia..but this ranks as the worst performing phone I have ever owned. Looks great but would not reccommend it to a friend !

Decided to go onto contract a week ago and chose the Nokia 6500 slide in silver as my phone (was using a trusty Nokia 3510i before). Apart from my 6500 freezing on me the day after I had it and I had to remove the battery to get it working again, I have to say I am really pleased with my phone. A number of users seem to worry about the weight of the phone, but this is something that I like, it's great to have a something that feels sturdy. So many of the phones on the market feel flimsy and look like they would break easily. I found it took me a few days to get used to texting (this is because I've been used to much larger keys that are all separate), but I am up to speed again now. Screen resolution is great, battery life is adequate - am a textaholic, so it's lasting about 3 days. I realise it is relatively early days of me using my new phone, but I have to say that I am really chuffed with it and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I've had this phone for a couple of months now on the 3 network. It's a great looking phone with solid build quality and a good sized screen. Although it's a little bigger than a lot of the slimline phones out there, it's still small enough and light enough to carry around in your pocket. It has all the features you'd expect, great camera, great music player etc.Although Nokia's have a reputation for being easy to use with straightforward menu's, having used this phone for 2 months now, I actually prefer the Sony Ericsson menu system. The major faults with this phone are the lousy battery and signal reception. Nokia claim it has over 300 hours standby and 6 hours talktime but even when I don't use it very often I'm still having to charge it every couple of days. Although it does give you a couple of warnings when the battery is low, it tends to die suddenly. The battery on my previous Sony Ericsson used to cling on for ages, even when it was down to just 5% power and with average use I would only have to charge it once every 5 or 6 days. What's even worse is the reception. The signal constantly fluctuates between weak and absolutely nothing. Call quality is extremely poor. Callers sound echo-ey and there's usually a faint buzzing sound. Often callers struggle to hear what I'm saying. At first I thought it was a network problem but having spoken to 3, they say it's a common problem with this phone. How on earth can a major player like Nokia, who you would think know a thing or two about mobile phones, create such a gorgeous looking phone but forget to actually make it useable?! Surely the main purpose of a mobile PHONE is to be able to make and receive PHONEcalls!! If you're thinking of getting one of these.....think again.

I've had this phone for roughly 6-8 weeks, and to be completely honest, I've found no major problems with it. I upgraded from an LG KG225, so this was a huge thing for me. A $90 phone to a $500 odd phone. You really notice the difference. The camera is great, there's nice clear sound with a nice big screen and biggish buttons (I can use my fingers and not my nails to press them! :D). It's got a nice, simple layout that's also simple to use, even my nan would be able to navigate it! I just have 2 small things to mention about it though. It will sometimes lag up. Not a complete freeze, but you just have to give it a second or so to catch up with what you're trying to do. The other is that because of it's finish and slidey nature, a lot of marks appear on it (Fingerprints mainly and scratches from sliding on the keypad). Nothing too major though. The battery life is an improvement from my previous phone, so no complaints there and it's weight, although making my pants heavier, I can actually tell if the phone is still in my pocket or not. Makes it harder to lose. 4 stars because it's not perfect, but what is?

1. Nokia 6500 Slide is the only slider that does not wear out or grind when opening and closing it, all other model’s sliders ruin in short time periods thus rendering the phone useless and aggravating to operate. 2.It is 123 grams and feels good and is solid. 3.Amazingly after EMT transmission testing it generates far far less than any other 3 and 3.5 generation mobile phone meaning: NO CANCER and reception is very good. 4.The 4GB micro SD memory card from Sandisk works wonders with the Nokia 6500S and allows 4.5 hours of video high quality filming with zoom in/out, you must manually adjust the phone settings to your personal settings preference. I hid my phone behind books with the camera lens facing my work station, I caught who had been stealing my graphic ideas and customer listings while I was on lunch break 1hr, to do this you must remember to set your phone to flight so it doesn’t “RING” while filming. 5.It is quick to respond when key depressing and has many many adjustment settings, discover the phone fully. 6.NOTE: The 6500 slider has 1 major fault in my opinion, the “loud speaker is terribly low when listening to incoming calls on it, the music plays loudly and with fine quality and has many adjustments for sound quality. Summary: Over all the 6500S is a high quality mobile phone with much to offer and is more than enough for most users, it is priced fairly and I feel I received my moneys worth. Thank You Nokia! Firstly I would like to state something I have noticed about the reviews process, there are those who seem to hate something and put one star then there are those whos world is never perfect and put four, then there are those people who will put up with anything and put five! - I should be in the four star category writing this review but.... This phone is junk, there is no other way to say it, Nokia...well what can I say, I have had 7 phones in my life and all of them have been Nokia. I have always been a Nokia person and always thought I would be although that may change next time. Starting with battery life: okay okay you may argue that if i do watch video clips on my phone my battery life will be greatly reduced but this is a 3G phone!!! its design is mainly for functions such as video and music. I watch the weather on my phone every morning which seems to start the issue of battery life, The phone allows the user to add a 4gb memory card which is something I have done although it doesnt make sense when you realise you can only listen to about 100mb of that music before the battery life is yet again greatly affected. The worst bit about the memory card is because of the type of holder, everytime the phone is banged it comes out of place and the phone then has to redetect all of the music on the memory card which slows the whole phone down so much it cannot open games or use the internet, this normally takes about 5 minutes to complete. 3G overheating: everytime i use the 3G for more than around 5 minutes i get a nice warm sensation on my hand, it is a very nice warmth - especially in winter but it should not happen - it is not energy efficient and causes the phone to lock up. Returns: the phone has been returned 7 times (I am actually on my 3rd phone) initially the navigation buttons squeaked when the phone was open, the problem was then the phone locking up and the latest problem has been the 3G, while this phone has been in for repair I decided to get my good ol' 6230i unlocked and started using it again, it really made me miss it!!! I have no personal hate for this phone like many people, I just think it was built in a rush, great design, shame about the lack of stamina!

Great phone. For a 'mid-range' phone it's got loads of good kit on it and the camera, with the Carl Zeiss lense is very good. People seem to argue that it's heavy or chunky; I would completely disagree. It's metal(effect?) casing and general weight lend a reliable, reassuring feeling to the phone. It is by no means a big phone; especially when the slide is closed. It isn't the most slim mobile on the market, but it is by no means too chunky. As I say, I feel it has a reassuringly heavy feel to it, like something valuable. Overall, very easy to use, great features and really good looking/feeling.

The camera is really good, not as good as my old phone (Nokia N73). It's a very stylish phone with a great professional look, the slider isn't flimsy. As for the sound, it's good, but Nokia could have put some more work on the MP3 interface. The TV-out is a great function that not many phones have...it's useful for those nights where family reunions gather up to watch the holiday videos! All in all, I do not regret having bought this phone...I would recommend it without a shadow of a doubt. Thanks Nokia ;)!

I'm on my first replacement, got the phone on contract two months ago, buttons on the first phone began to stop functioning, then the inside of the screen seized up... Second phone, turned the phone back on about three hours ago and it turned itself back off after the Nokia Welcome Screen, it's dodgy and rather annoying... Haven't been able to get it fixed so i guess i will be on my third 6500s very soon... Phone IS durable but the memory card turns itself off and the phone seems to be controlled by a ghost. What i mean is that it changes settings such as wallpaper and ring tone all the time... Text message storage is fantastic, i got over 6000 texts all together on my first phone. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

I bought my nokia 6500 slide in jan 2008 and i've had it replaced 3 times and the 4th replacement is coming on monday. I love the phone but i just would like one that works. I had nothing but faults with them. Speaker is crackling, switches nitself on & off, re-sets itself, buttons don't work, basically has a mind of its own. I'll give it one more chance and then im gonna move til samsung or something else.

i have had this phone for a month and to be honest, im pretty happy with it :) its very easy to text with, stores looooads of msgs (so far i have over 600) and automatically saves sent txts (awsome if you go out alot, get drunk and forget what you have said and who to). its also very durable (a positive for me as im quite clumsy), dropped the phone 6 feet to what i assumed would be its doom (a hard wooden floor) and the phone didnt even have a scratch on it... how is that even possible?! i dont always get the best signal but i guess thats to do with what network your on (3). takes great pictures and the features are relativly easy to use once u get the hang of it. not had any faults with it thus far (much to my surprise from some of the reviews i've read) n the battery life seems pretty awsome too :D better than my previous phone hands down (samsung d840). hope this helps
