Nokia 6300 ReviewRating: Date: 02/06/2007 The Nokia 6300 is one of the most popular and highly-rated Nokia phones for several years. It's an attractive slimline phone with a stainless steel finish, and contains all of the features that most people want from a phone: a high quality camera with video recording capability, a stereo MP3 player, built-in FM radio, wireless Bluetooth connectivity and a slot for a memory card. The camera isn't as good as the cameras in Nokia's high-end smartphones: it's rated at 2 megapixels and doesn't have autofocus, so it won't replace a dedicated digital camera, but is good enough for taking casual pics. One of the main selling points of the 6300 is its user-friendliness: it's as easy to use as the Nokias of old, and it does what most people need without the complications of Nokia's high-end Nseries phones. Its only weakness is battery life, which is to be expected as the size of the phone doesn't allow for a larger battery to be fitted. If you can live with this one flaw, then we recommend the Nokia 6300 to you.
Features of the Nokia 6300 include:
- Camera:2 megapixels with 8x digital zoom
- Video Camera: 176 x 144 pixels
- Display: TFT, 16.7 million colours, 240 x 320 pixels (2 inches)
- Music Player: MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, H.263, H.264 formats / FM stereo radio with Visual Radio
- Ringtones: 64-voice polyphonic ringtones, MP3 ringtones, Video ringtones

- Memory: 7.8 Mbytes plus microSD card slot (expandable up to 2 Gbytes)
- Messaging: SMS, MMS, email, Instant messaging, Nokia Xpress audio messaging
- Internet: WAP, GPRS Class 10, EDGE, XHTML web browser

- Standby: Up to350 hours
- Operating Frequency: GSM Triband 900/1800/1900 MHz

Then use good quality headphones such as Sonys HPM 70 or Koss. You will be blown away by the sound, trust me.I only give it four stars coz camera could have been better. Sid Rating:

My very first phone was a Nokia but I didnt rate many of the recent handsets. The 6300 has totally changed my mind & I must say that Nokia have definately released a fantastic handset. The battery life is also a bit dissapointing although it is nice to look at it is not easy to use. Beware Phones 4U Uxbridge. Although I tried to exchainge it within the 14 days they refused because they said it had been used! er ? However after going direct to their head office, they cpould not be more helpful and changed the phone, which was un-marked emmediately for a soni ericsson 810i. Rating:

No way, so used an eraser for grip and finally released it, but was not happy at amount of pressure exerted on keypad throughout all this. Spoke to Nokia who say this is a common problem but is not a fault????? Sent it back for some other unsuspecting consumer to waste time on. Rating:

Cheaper than an upgrade or the £200 handset offline! Had the phone for a day, well easy to use, has all the features i'm use to apart from the "wallet" where you can put all your pins & passwords etc. But other than that - great phone, def. would reccommend! Reviewed by Evey on 18/05/2007 Had this phone 2 weeks now. Love the styling and functionality. It syncs perfectly with my pc and has a great back-up facility. It was a free upgrade from my Razr which was pretty, basic and had lasted over a year before I got bored, which is very good for me. Word of warning, I upgraded in a Vodafone shop to make sure I was set up properly as I had never managed to get the Razr to send emails. In the shop they told me setting up email was easy - "just go to the Nokia website and they'll send the details to your phone". Don't do it. Go via your mobile phone operator! Doing it via Nokia has caused me endless problems. Vodafone have supplied their own software with this and the settings aren't straightforward. It's taken me over two hours (3 calls) to get this sorted out. 20 mins on premium rate! I eventually got tech support to phone me back, which they did and it took them over an hour to sort out by deleting everything and starting again. The phone is great, some a dvice is wrotten, Vodafone tech support is excellent. My warning is be very careful before you tamper with the settings. Great solution if you don't want a full-on PDA but want to keep an electronic diary, want to take reasonable photos and tiny video clips and can't be bothered carrying an mp3 player/radio as well as your phone. Oh yeh and you can make calls on it too! Rating:

Reviewed by Chris on 17/05/2007 Had the 6300 for about a month after retiring my good old 6310i. It's good looking and pleasant to use with the usual Nokia excellent software. However, it has several flaws that spoil it. I am a business user and have been on a stand at a conference trying to talk to colleagues at the office for the last few days. There is something strange with the voice enhancement that causes clipping of words when there is a lot of background noise. The phone gets too hot to keep against your ear after 5 or 6 minutes. The battery life is poor but I can live with that. I have a parrot handsfree in the car and a Jabra JX10 earpiece that connect to the phone no problem, but people I have called say it sounds like I have my head in a bucket. V3 and 6310 are fine with this gear. Anyone else suffered these problems Rating:

Reviewed by Abraham on 13/05/2007 I have compared the features and prices of various phone, couldn't find anything closer to 6300. The response is very good. Its because Nokia has used Nokia OS (40 series) rather than symbian, therefore it will not support multitasking. This is the biggest disadvantage for people who are used to switch between multiple applications. e.g while you are connected to internet you cannot access any other application, you will have to close the browser and open another application. Radio is the only application which can run in the background while you are working on a different application. Its an asset to have, and display!!! Rating:

Reviewed by Vanessa on 12/05/2007 I've had this phone for just over a month and I love it. I've noticed that it has a quirk, and I'm wondering if anyone else out there has noticed the same thing. I have not included 'Answer Phone' in my 'Go To' menu. However, whenever I lock and unlock my keypad or enter my Pin, when I next access the 'Go To' menu, 'Answer Phone' will be the last item in the list. I've had 3 handsets now (as they thought it was a faulty handset first) and they all do the same thing. It could do with a better headset, but all Nokia phones have substandard headsets. The back case can be a bit tricky to get off. You need to have the bottom of the phone touching a flat surface and then press quite hard just under the bit that says megapixel with both thumbs. I thought at first by using that much pressure I was going to break the phone, but no, apparently this is what it needs. Apart from that I love this phone. It looks very sleek. The screen size and clarity is excellent. When you get a missed call or text message, a blue light on the side of the phone flashes until you notice it. I've had no problem with the battery charger falling out, as other people have reported, and I probably charge the phone about every six days (talktime about 2 hours and no browsing). I'm not sure how this compares to other manufacturers, but for Nokia this is a vast improvement. But, they do need to do more. The camera produces excellent pictures, not that it is a feature I will use a lot, and I haven't tried the video camera, the media player, voice calling or the internet browser as these are features I'm not interested in. The radio isn't too bad either. In fact, these are features I would quite happily give up for a smaller phone with a slightly better battery life. Texting is simple and I love the fact that I can now send smileys. It is a sturdy phone. I haven't had a problem with fingerprints on the silver case either. This phone may not be perfect, but it is definitely outstanding. Rating:

Reviewed by Matt on 12/05/2007 I use a mobile almost constantly for work and due to how hoard I hammer them, I can kill one in weeks. I've tried most models of basic and smart phones. After a while, all you need is a good, reliable phone that calls, texts and can take the occasional non-serious pic in the pub. Battery life means very little as I charge mine each night anyway. The 6300 has (so far) shown itself to be awesome. Looks great in an understated, subtle way and the software is a similar, yet slightly improved version of the OS on the 6280. I'd recommend this phone to any serious phone user who also likes a handset to look good. Rating:

I've never had anything other than a Nokia for the last 8 years, good and bad, and I can say that this is easily the best by a long way! It's asthetically pleasing for starters. It feels solid in your hand and is a nice weight. It's slim too. It turns on fast, and operates fast, unlike the more high spec smart phones. The camera, although not having a flash or auto focus, is quite sufficient for snaps. The interface of the phone is very user-friendly and intuitive, like most Nokias. It really is an excellent phone. No frills, just a good solid phone with the features that people want. Rating:

I'm a nokia fan and had the 3310 before i bought this phone (can you beleiveit? in this day and age?), and i'm well impressed. Reviewed by Rob on 04/05/2007 Ive replaced a higher spec Samsung with this Nokia, and Im glad I have! Its a beautiful phone to look at and in the hand. It feels very solid and is straightforward to use. The screen is great and sound quality is excellent. If you want a mid-spec phone with top of the range quality and looks this is the phone for you.
