Reviewed by jane on 30/06/2008i had a nokia 6111 2 years ago. in between i had sony ericsson phones, but i've ended up buying yet another nokia 6111 because i liked it so much. yes the memory is small but i think over all the phone is brilliant and i have never had any problems with it. Rating: Reviewed by Sarah on 29/06/2008 Well I haven't had any issues with the phone's slide action or it freezing and in the 1 and a half years i've had it don't think i've had any technical difficulties and i've dropped it a good few times. How ever. So not worth the money I spent. At the time I got it for just over £100, ridiculous waste of money. The camera's ok for still images but not for movement and the video's not great. The memory is the worst thing, i've got 2 songs on my phone and it's taken up half the memory. Definitely getting a new phone soon. The camera view is very unclear and there are much better phones out that this one. Overall though you do have the appliances but there is no point. This phone is also thick which makes it harder to hold. It doesnt have codes for every catagory and when it says lock, as soon as you slide it up it unlocks-no point if you ask me!!!!!!!!! Rating: Reviewed by ali on 09/06/2008 Look I don't mind about the lack of number of songs it can hold seeing that i have an ipod shuffle, but the screen freezes and just turns the phone off by itself, with full battery etc, it's been sent off for this reason before to have a software update or what ever but it still does it, the keys have worn out rapidly! the battery doesn't last long which is fine if the powe cable hadn't stopped working! Now I ave to twizle it round and round till it finally connects (or pay £30 to get a new one!) and I'm not the only one with this issue 2 of my friends also have this phone and they both experience these issues, really you can do better then this phone! DO NOT BUY!! i was so excited because i was getting what i though would be a better phone than my first(nokia1100) but now i wish i kept that one!! it has hardly any memory i could only fit 3 sngs on and hardly any pics!! the battery life is really terrible, the night i got it i was playin with it for 1 hour then it just cut out because it was out of battery!!! 1 hour!! Now i realized that it was faulty and am going to take it back to the shop after only 11 months!! as sometimes when i try to switch it on, well it just doesnt! take my advice get a better phone than this!! Rating: Reviewed by David on 06/06/2008 I have had this phone for just under 2 years now and I really cannot see any of the problems people said about it. This phone has been a loyal friend and worked everytime no problem. The slider was fine for most of the time, only now starting to become slightly hard. The buttons feel like the day I bought it and the battery is still working for up to 8 days on standby. Only problem is the small memory which let me down at a party :( The connectivity is also not good having never used the browser. Apart from that, best phone I have ever had. I'd just like to say my nokia 6111 is still alive and working properly till now(except when it freezes during talking time) It's an alright mobile phone :) Rating: Reviewed by Jess on 14/04/2008 I got this phone just under a year ago, I had a few problems, occasionally the keypad locks rather than unlocks when you slide it up and sometimes it takes a few attempts before it actually turns on (I've had a few Nokia's this is a common problem). Other than that its been a great phone, when I bought it I didn't want a phone for music or photos, I wanted one that worked properly, called and sent texts (my old Pebl have problems doing that). Pictures are difficult to see on the screen but once on a computer are usually good, I have space for 3 or 4 of my favourite songs (I change them as my taste changes). All in all I love this phone, its been useful and easy to use and now its fairly cheap I'd recommend it if you don't want all the amazing features of more expensive phones. Its a good first phone for young teens or if you just want something basic. The memory is terrible and the screen quality is very dissapointing. The camera doesn't look good on the actual phone but if you put them on the computer they are actually quite good. But I put them on with a seperate device because you don't get a USB cable with the phone. I reccomend this phone to first time buyers but NOT to people that have had other phones in the past. This low memory lets down the whole phone and that is why I think it is rubbish. The only slight annoyance that I have encountered is that it does occasionally decide to turn itself off.. but thats hardly a big deal and obviously all you have to do is turn it back on again and you're good to go. The camera isn't anything amazing but what do you expect? It is only 1 megapixel so its not as if it's unexpected! But I dont see why people are complaining about it because it is perfectly adequate. Also some people are saying that on video mode, the screen is only the size of a stamp..? Erm, you go on to settings and change the screen size, fools! Altogether really happy with this phone and will continue to use it until it officially dies on me, but I could be waiting a while! I do agree that the memory is small, but getting a memory card really will help! It's really easy to use, and very comfortable to hold. I think there is a good selection of colours, and love my phone! The pictures are good, along with the films. Even though it can't hold many, the songs I have are nice and clear! It was in repair after 2 months and since the Carphone Warhouse is SO unrelabile it was in repair for the rest of the year. Rating: Reviewed by buddy on 08/03/2008 i love me fone but it has no memory is there a place to put a memory stick in? can you tell me where to get them Rating: Reviewed by Alex on 08/03/2008 it does what a phone needs to do-call and text! the camera is reasonable and the voice recorder is good. some of the ringtones are rubbbish, but some are excellent. mine does turn off sometimes but i have *****!TIP!**** solved that by putting a piece of paper between the battery and the cover on the back. now it doesn't shut down much anymore. good features and the side works well for me. i would reccomend it to people, although many people won't get it as it is older. After I had had it for about 7 months it froze completely, went blank white then shut down and I couldn't turn it back on. My advice is don't even think about buying it. It isnt the best music phone for music lovers, so I would suggest getting a Sony Ericsson W810i Walkman or a Nokia 5300 XpressMusic. They are much better for people who want to listen to music PLUS text and talk. I think at the end of the day though it is very rubbish because my one has died. The sim card holder broke and the screen goes blank so now doesnt work! I am highly disoppointed with this phone as other Nokia's are much better than this one. For your main display if u have a sparkling image it sparkles for the first few seconds then freezes and stops. Sure it's not got a lot of memory and freezes sometimes, the camera is OK but it's perfect for a teenage or someone's first phone. Petite, cute, simple to use, lots of features like a radio, bluetooth. I thought that Nokia would release something slightly better but I actually like my phone. Wife got an identical phone and both shut down without warning and I have to take my battery out wait a couple of minutes, put it back in and only then will it switch on. I was tied into a contract so bought a pay as you go on the same network and stuck my contract sim in that and works fine. Its true the memory is poor but if you dont want it to for music it is fine. The camera is fine and the pictures come out spot on. Rating: Reviewed by Dee on 21/01/2008 Ok, i will try to give this phone a fair review, discussing the negatives and positives. I fell in love with the pink nokia 6111 when i saw an advertisement on tv for it. I waited about a year for it to drop down to a reasonable price. I paid £140 (it started at £400). £140 1 year and about 2 weeks and its dead as a doornail. The problems began when the phone began to pause when u asked it to open a text message. Then it would come up with a message something to the effect of 'operation failed' and it would freeze. The only way to get out of this would be too switch your phone off and on again. This began to get frustrating when it was occuring on a daily basis but i lived with it. After about 8 months, the battery began to be slightly tempremental, i'd have it on charge overnight and it would still say battery low. Again, switching the phone off and on again seemed to fix this. Then a week ago, one evening, my phone died and i got a white screen. I hadn't dropped it, had it near water, sat on it or applied any more pressure than normal so i figured the battery had died. I took it to the shop, they said it was the ribbon and they could fix it for £15. After examination its not the ribbon nor the screen and all they could put it down to was the phone being tempremental and advised me to invest in a new phone. 2 weeks out of guarentee, not good. On the other hand, the phone is sleek and trendy, most certainly for the time it was released. The voice recorder was pretty good and clear. The camera clear ish but it doesn't hold many photos, about 6. Reducing the image size doesn't work because the pictures are then unclear. MP3 player is ok and a good selection of ringtones as standard. It is quite simple to use and never came unlocked easily. I don't think i ever accidently rang anyone or anything like that. Slide mechanism is good. This phone is now around £60, in hindsight i would pay that but definatly no more, its just not worth it. Battery lasts about 4-5 days without a charge, slide mechanism is as perfect as the day i got it, it's very simple and easy to use and has been 100% reliable, so i guess either the people on here have either been unlucky or they treat their phones badly! Rating: Reviewed by Shelby on 19/01/2008 i purchased this phone under a year ago. when i first got it they said if anything goes wrong in 3 months they will give my money back. in 2 months on having the phone everytime i viewed my saved messages it would turn off. so i took it back they refused to give my money back as they said this is fixable i got it back after 2 weeks and the problem was still there so i went without it. i cant even fit 3 whole songs on the god dam phone. Recently its broke by closing it and placing it on my knee i have tried everything to get it up and going again but nothing has seemed to work and when i turn it on i just see a white blank screen. the camera takes very few photos unless you place it on the smallest size then it will take many but using them for a backround it has to big white lines above and below the picture. do not purchase this phone as it is ridiculas amount of money for a 1 star phone Rating: Reviewed by laura on 19/01/2008 i hate this phone! ive had mine since april 07 and now its got the volume flashing at me and it also flashes up saying no voice tags saved when no buttons are pressed meaning my phone is useless. this phone is a complete waste of money and i wouldnt recommend it to any one! I've had it 6 months, and in that time I've put up with all sorts of problems. The time has come that it definitely needs replacing. It keeps switching itself off, 50% of the time when I turn it on it doesn't recognise the SIM card, the back plate has gradually broken to the point that it no longer stays on (so the battery won't stay in), and the cap on the top (covering the charger point) has also broken. I can deal with the short battery life and all the other minor complaints- but there are much bigger issues with this phone. Recently it has been switching off automatically or the screen fades out and when i restart it again it tells me that the phone is restricted. It still slides smoothly after a year, barely any scratches at all, etc. My only complaint is that the camera isn't amazing; only 1 megapixel, and when I first got it, it kept turning itself off for no reason. Memory isnt bad, but not brilliant, and nowhere 4 a memory card. Nothing really stands out about the phone to be honest, you can probably get a lot more for the price. Get it if you're not fussy about features, otherwise try something else. Yes it was really expensive in russia, especially when it just came out. I was satisfied for months, but then i understood that it didnt have that much memory, and could only hold 2 songs with all of the photos and videos i had. About 5 times out of the pperiod i've had this phone, It would just switch off randomly. It also gets scratched easily. But i think that the looks of it i a 4.5 rating. It has a nice design and i love the slide. Mine is in a pink color, and i really like the looks, but the inside of the phone it self is a 2.5 star to me. If u love the design just like i do, and u want a nokia slider i reccomend nokia 5300 my freind has it, and i love it. Also i'd like to add something: The place where the sim card is kept broke of completley, so i had to stuff it back in and i could barley put it in by making it work. At first it was really ok but after 1 week the screen just got scratched and it was in a special sock i can't understand why, but a couple of friends told me that the glazing of the screen isn't very good because same happened to them. I changed 3 battries so far in 5 months time. Now its always switching on and off and PTT is always wanting to switch on and theres no way of making the menu displayed go away (PTT menu) i just have to switch it off, i can't send sms's coz PTT menu appears, the software freezez and the slide is not smooth as underneath it the mobile is all scratched. Camera is nb although pictures sometimes come really unclear. I love the phone but it's not worth just broken down in a few months. It has a good camera and I have got 7 full length songs on it and around 25 pictures. I have also filmed around 15 mins on it and all seems ok. I don't understand why people have problems with texting as mine is fine, no problems and simple to use. I think the people who have complaints about keys getting stuck and problems with sliding it have a faulty handset. I can even recieve very high quality pictures from others and view them clearly and save them seperatly. There is absolutly nothing wrong with this phone and maybe people should buy MP3 phones rather than complaining that this isn't one!! At first i though it was great as it was a vast improvement on the phone i had before (motorola V220), within days i wished i had gone for the Samsung D500. I could cope with and my only major criticism was that the MP3 player only listed the songs, not any other category. But about 4 months ago it started turning off, whether i be taking photos, writing a text or in the middle of a call. It sometimes can't register my sim when it had been 2 seconds before hand and it says it is T-Mobile when it is Virgin??? I am now having to replace this phone after only 12 months which really isn't satisfactory for the price i spent on it. I am happy to see it has now been taken off the market- due mainly to its lack of features and poor camera. But if you think of buying it second hand or getting it as a hand-me down, refuse- it has caused me many problems! For starters, the speaker is so soft that you need to be in total silence to hear the person you are talking to; the predictive text capitalises words that it shouldn't; the battery life is terrible; if a text message is more than 160 characters it has a nervous breakdown; it always unlocks itself when sitting in my pocket (and then - of course! - switches the camera on) and it will only deliver a text message if the recipient's phone is actually switched on at the time.
