Nokia 6080 Review

Rating:
Date: 07/12/2006
The Nokia 6080 is a very basic entry level camera phone. It is a simple straight design weighing 91g and is a reasonable size. The phone has a standard VGA camera and has video capabilities, which is typical for a phone within this price range.
The display is also quite poor supporting only 65k colours and a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The display is also quite hard to see in bright sunshine as it is not a TFT.
The 6080 supports MP3 ringtones with a 24-voice sound but disappointingly does not have an MP3 music player; it does however have an FM radio.
The memory is below average for a phone within this price range as there is only 4.3 MB of user memory, leaving very little room for storing images and other files.
Connectivity is also extremely poor as it has no Bluetooth and only has infrared. Compared to other entry level phones, this is the least functional in terms of connectivity as many of them have at least USB if not Bluetooth as well.
The 6080 has excellent data transfer rates as it connects to the internet via EDGE. This is has very fast speeds and gives three times faster connection rate then GPRS.
It has a good battery life with 300 hours of standby time. The operating frequency is tri-band which means that it will work in Europe and America.
Overall, we would not recommend this phone as it is very simple with average or below average features and is overpriced costing around 100. There are much better entry level camera phones that offer much more such as the LG U300, the Motorola L6 or the Sony Ericsson K600i.

I've had it for a year, and have had no key[ad problems at all...the buttons took some getting used to, but now it's fine...It's pretty sturdy - I'm such a butterfingers and a clumsy person...I've dropped it countless times and it's survived them all. The camera quality isn't amazing, but to be honest, I don't particularly care...as long as it texts and phones people, I'm happy. Would like a larger memory, but it's a standard cheapish phone...can't really expect more from it to be honest...If you want a flash phone, then don't go for it, but if your happy to settle for something that just phones and texts, then it's ideal really.

there's a lot to like about this phone and I"ll be keeping mine, hopefully for a long time. But the thing that I absolutely hate about this phone is that the screen is too dark. I cannot read it in the sunshine - I have to shade it with my hand and hold it very close to my face in order to see what's on the screen if I"m outside. That really sucks.

I bought the phone from rogers. The phone is great, and so far I have not had a problem with the keypad. For the price I paid ($65) I dont believe you can get a better phone. Who really needs blue tooth or additional memory? Is that how pathetic your life is? The phone is just that - to make and receive calls. Nokia sell other phones with expandable memory and 5 megapixel cameras, if that would make your self-worth go up, then feel free to buy those more expensive phones, just pay the price.

This phone is perfect if you are a buisness guy. But if you like playing on things like bluetooth and your camera this would not be the phone for you. Firstly, this phone has no bluetooth or a good quality camera. You can't see the screen when you are in the sun, i have restored the factory settings to get some more memory but i only end up getting 3mb, it says on nokia.co.uk that it has 16mb. Secondly, the basic wallpaper is terrible quality and their are rubbish themes! Nevertheless, the phone battery is amazing. it can last for up to 300 hours on standby! Overall this phone is ok.

Dreadful phone. The keypad problem makes my 6080 unuseable. Nokia should have done a product recall long ago.

Alan from Folkingham Lincs. Very interested to read Jessicas experience with the 6080. My wife has one and it works perfectly. So I bought one from a well known outlet on High Street Grantham. I like the phone, nice to handle and easy to use but mine had the self same fault as Jessica's, bleeping with random numbers appearing on a white screen. Each time it bleeped I was cut off so to the receiver of the call it sounded as though the signal was breaking up. On retuning three times to the outlet I was made to look like an idiot in front of a shop full of people saying it is the way you old people hold a phone. They would never accept that there was anything wrong. However by contacting the appropriate office in London, I had much better treatment, I was given a credit to collect a new phone. I was not going to go back to Grantham so collected my new 6080 from Spalding. I could not believe it when I got home and it had the same fault. I thought it must be me until a friend suggested looking at this site a nd lo I was not the only one. I rang the Spalding Shop and without hesitation they said they will replace it, what a difference in attitude. Many thanks for the chance to share experiences.

Good features, it's a phone phone not a media phone and costs thirty quid. BUT if the phone can't phone then it's no use to me. The keys press themselves all the time, especially while I'm calling. And this is the replacement phone, since my previous 6080 did exactly the same!
