charges you for downloading pics ect but fails. you get charged anyway. network coverage useless..cuts out. refuses to go on internet..camera really bad with no color.disapointed although purchased second hand it was only used twice ...i now know why!!!! WOULD RATHER HAVE A 3210...ALWAYS STICK TO NOKIA.

fed up from west sussex..i put a memory card in and cant format ..wont even allow me to access memory card.. wont allow me to multimedia text message...followed the instructions in book to the letter but no luck...like the flashing lights but i knew there was some reason i stick to nokia

even though this phone is like 5 years old, it works great for me, very cheap to use for the internet, and i get tv on my phone for just 49p a day! the good thing is, if you drop this phone, it doesn't break, even though i once left it out in the rain and snow and everything for 3 days it still worked fine, i can even get emails off this for free, as well as voicemails, no problems with this phone for me

I have had my NEC e616V for a couple of years, with no problems at all. I accidentally broke the screen when i fell off my pushbike several years ago. I bought my friend's phone, which was luckily the same one, and it has lasted me for 5 years and given me no problems apart from the main speaker going. Which i didnt need anyway, as i can transfer any video/audio files onto my PC and play them on there. Calling and SMS works perfectly, as does the camera and sound recorder. There is nothing wrong with slightly older technology that does the job fine. Thank you.

This is a moblie phone for calling other phones and sending sms. Its not a teleporter for a space ship or a TV or a laptop. Its simple, easy to use and ant rocket science. Step 1, open phone. Step 2, key in the number. Step 3, speak and so on..DOH

this phone is awasome even though it is old i have 2 of thease phones and they work perfectly but the bluetooth took ages till i figured out to do it i have loads on it i love it i have 8 mobiles all together but this is the best

whats all the fuss about its just a phone and all phones are for is makeing phone calls on 2 your m8s. iff i what the (internet) or (e.mials) i use my p.c. not a phone as for music like mp3 get a mp3 player. i give this phone by nec 7/10.

i personally don't want to give any stars to this piece of junk.i love this phone as it was a gift but this is seriously as heavy as a cordless in your pocket, poor battery, no bluetooth (only headset). only 128mb expandable this is some serious bad material. i don't no how have people voted for it.

its kind of heavy but very durable, i dropped i several times on a concrete floor and besides scratches its always been working fine. i imported it from UK, and had to upload lower firmware to be able to unlock it. I just want to say this one more time, this phone feels extremely well built, i have never seen such build quality of other phones, even other Necs. I even heard that primarily Nec developed this model for the American army, and they ;ve been using it in Iraq and Afghanistan but they were in khaki color.

Hey. I would say don't buy it, my battery always run out in less than a day from the start. I loved it cos of it's lights tho - lol, which were good but the phone wasn't so good. Also, phones are a lot better now ! It's 2008 now! This phone's like 5 years old. Still have mine but rarely used!

I bought the phone last january, its a sturdy phone, I must say, very functional , the video and sound is not bad It has a large screen and has 3g, its the most affordable 3g phone I can think off. All the negative comments about the phone are grossly exagerated

The nece616v is a big brick.i wouldn`t recamend it to any one.the bluethooth is RUBBISH and dont work.they dont sell the usb any more.the battary is only about 2 days.ya can`t put songs on it because it dont connect to the network is also rubbish.the camera is only vga it is not a megapixal rubbish.the good thing about it is you can down load football vidios for free by just pressing the second button on the right hand side.IT IS A OTHER RUBBISH ABBISMAL PHONE BY NEC AND 3 DON`T BY IT IT IS RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had this phone and it was poor. No wonder i couldn't recieve or send data via bluetooth from other mobiles which is why i got the phone. The additional memory stick feature, the mp3 player, camera etc they were okay but I've never bought such a poor phone. I can't make calls on it now, not even to the 3 company. I also expected the bluetooth to let me send and recieve data from other phones. Overall I was very dissapointed with it.

A masterpiece of trash. A waste of money. The ideal phone for people who 'rite lik dis an liv in ingland an think itz da best ppl.' A phone bought by chavs because it's £30 at Woolworths. My partner's brother found one in a skip and bought it home. Next day it was pulverized at work in a hobart mincer!

overall its an alright phone, the contract price is too expensive and a bad deal but u can search the internet for free thre isnt much you can do on the internet without paying. The video and camera quality are very good but u can only record for up to 60 secs. i wouldnt recomend buying it

this phone is not as bad as everyone makes out. it does everything any other phone does, just doesnt have bluetooth. you can easily put pics on the computer and its a nice phone. it would be much better if it could be on different networks though.

I had this phone for nearly 2 years and altho 3 used to be terrible I stuck by them and since they have improved soooo much, I got this phone
when it dropped from £200 to £45. It only ever reset on me when I messed about with it to fast and hardly ever dropped calls but the battery done my head in. I recently upgraded to an NEC e338 as I wanted to stay on 3. I was gonna put my NEC e616v to one side but my girl asked if she cud have it so i gave it to her and she loves it more than her Sony Ericsson k700i which I also have and hate cos the keys r so small. But overall I think this is a good fone and for 2 years it served me well. Thank you 3 and NEC

Yup. I have had this phone too. To be perfectly honest, it is a great phone, with excelent features. The only bad points being that it is HUGE and that the bluetooth is for PC Sync only. The biggest down is the actual service provider, 3. The fact that they are as good as stealing your credit if you haven't used it by the end of the month is bad, real bad. Oh well, i bought this phone brand new from the link for £30. Then i sold it on ebay for £47! I'm not complaining!

4 words sums it all up for this phone and the 3G network: Absolute piece of junk.
An absolutely horrible year for me stuck on this 3G contract, with this silver door stopper.
It cuts off during calls within 5 mins, battery life lasts about as long as a virgin on heat i.e. 5 minutes, and 3 customer service are now on a par with AOL. Both are now based in India and it takes 15 minutes just to supply them with your personal details before stating the problem, finally resulting with 3 trying to fob you off the phone.
If they finally admit to this piece of **** excuse for a phone to having problems, (maybe they should do a search on google on problems with the NEC 616) then you have to send it to them for repairs! (Thats just after they say, try your sim card on a friends phone for a few days, it might just be the sim card, call us back in 3/4 days.)
I changed my contract today in a phone shop for an Orange contract, a Nokia 8910i and a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm now back in the mobile world and can feel proud with my Nokia.
I dont feel any need for stupid ringtones, a rubbish camera and voice recorder etc, I'm not 14 years old and I want a RELIABLE PHONE THATS WORKS AND LOOKS GREAT.
Buy into the 3G network at your peril.

when i see this set i surprised and set a very good image about this mobile i am from pakistan and in my country the nec mobiles are not available in pin packed condition i bought this mobile from a small shop where this mobile phone was lying on the table without any packing and now i am very happy to get this mobile. ha ha ha

I got it second hand for #20 and for that it is amazing. Ok, the mp3 memory is rubbish but already have an mp3 player and the phone is quite large but the screen is amazing and all the other features are excellent. The big battery is bulky but lasts for two weeks which is good. Also the screen flickers sometimes but it's no big problem. I don't know what you other are complaining about. Whatever you do don't get on 3 cos it's a rip off. I got mine unlocked and run it on orange. The only problem is that the internet doesn't work anymore but i think orange might be able to reprogramme the software for orange world.

This phone is one of the most frustrating phones you could possibly buy. The camera element of it is absolutely superb, but it has many faults. Occasionally it doesn't received text messages, or it claims to have received them, but hasn't put them in the in-box. It frequently resets in the middle of a call and takes ages to set itself up again.i haven't even mentioned 3 yet. aside from the rude customer service, and the lack of coverage, they screwed me out of my warrenty. i had a problem with the phone not charging, so sent it back to them, having been assured that it was a regular problem with my phone and i needn't send the charger. 3 weeks, and many phone calls later, i got the phone back, after having had to pay #55 because i'd invalidated my warrenty, although they could not tell me why i had invalidated it, just that i couldn't get the phone back unless i paid. but when the phone came back it was still broken! turned out it was the charger that was broken, which my local 3 shop replaced for free, and the manager even printed me out some sheets of what they'd done, including the line 'does not show evidence of customer abuse'! so how had i invalidated my warrenty? they don't know. a few of their advisers even put the phone down on me when hearing about how many times i'd called before without avail. in the end i cancelled my contract as soon as i could. hopefully vodafone will be better. they certainly have a better reputation. STAY AWAY FROM 3!!

This fone is totally rubbish in terms of what was originally advertised. Team up constant resetting itself with software freezes, drop of microphone in the middle of a call but the minutes still keep ticking away (AND charging you!) and you have a recipe for disaster! People who got this fone on contract should be given some kinda compensation! Can't even sell d fone on because no-one wants it!!!! Gotta be the worst buy I've ver made in terms of fones!!!!!

this fone rocks! im using this here on the philippines but this fone works like a dream! i never experienced any problems related by some of the reviews, even if my fone is a year old! the camera is fantastic, call quality is good and the video is good for film shorties! I swapped my t610 with my aussie uncle and had it converted to local settings. the only downside is,compared to what most people here are using, this fone is too damn bulky. I may look stupid holding a wireles landline unit, but owning a fone other than nokia or SN makes it worthwhile...

i got this phone for x-mas and i think it is brill the camera and the video is brill and the battery life seems to last forever i would recommend it to anyone the only downside is blue tooth (synchronisation code) and the size of the phone.

Well,I am writing to point out a thing alot of people may not have realised.There is a NEC e616, and a more updated with better battery life and VGA camera NEC e616v. It has come to my attention that alot of people may have the older phone when in fact they wanted the newer model,or thought that they were buying it.My advice is to first check your recipts,and the outer sleeve of box.if your recipt (most important) says you have purchased an NEC e616V it will also say it on your phone.If it doesn't tally up,the take your phone back.The NEC e616v is a better phone..in fact different with a better camera.(CONFIRMED BY THE MANUFACTURERS).I am in the middle of trying to get satisfaction with a mobile phone shop and I am confident that I will get a result.

Have had my phone 4 weeks. I got it unlocked so I could use it with my 02 sim card (because 3 is such a bad network) but it will not unlock fully so cannot use multimedia messaging etc. Camera ok, battery life shocking!

Fascinating to read so many contrasting reviews. I bought this phone , e616, from a colleague who found it complex. I enjoyed the challenge and mastered it in a few hours of continuous use. Furthermore I am impressed with the battery life and ease of use. Excellent screen, camera, sound recorder etc Compared with a number of other offerings I have owned over the years this one has a comfortable chunky feel and is easy to hold and operate one handed. I live on the iow and coverage can be problematical with most networks at home but out in town etc it performs admirably just like other non 3g phones. I like it. Incidentally 4/5 is my top rating. Nothing is perfect.

what a load of junk this phone is cheap and had loads of cool stuff like bluetooth//camera//video etc. i thought it would be a good value for money phone. BUT IVE NEVER BEEN SO WRONG IN MY LIFE. ITS HEAVY NO SIGNAL BATTERY LIFE=RUBBISH.......dont by this and any other phone on the '3' network cos its all junk and there just trying to get loads of customers without caring for them...so stay away please

Ive not got this phone yet, but I will be getting it tomorrow, ive read the reviews - come on people its 45 quid, plays mp3s, has a camera, looks the business what more do you want. Im with o2 at the moment and the signal is utter rubbish which is why ill be buying this then unlocking it. ;)

3 are the worst phone network ever. You could have the best phone ever, but if the coverage is bad then the phones bad. The only reason the phones are so cheap is the service and coverage is really bad. They are trying to get as many customers as possible regardless of use, and after the 14 day cool of period if you have a problem three will not let you go even if you can't get a signal I have a contract phone and 70% of my calls drop and people who phone me go direct to answer machine. 3 said I will have to wait till February for the signal upgrade and that they are not prepared to do anything more. I'm trying to get out of it. By complaining to http://www.otelo.org.uk/content.php?menuID=25&pageID=10 Three are holding on trying to get as much money out of me before they have to cancel my contract. The early contract cancellation fee is #225 foe each phone you have. I'm a truck driver and travel all over Briton and the coverage is bad all over with a few small pockets of good signal. The phone is not just locked to 3 but all the services are locked to 3. If you want to use wap you can only uses 3 sites. You want to download games and ring tones you can only uses 3. You can't even load then onto your phone via USB. Or Bluetooth. 3 have put a block on the phone so you have to pay three for what you want. Up to #5 a game. Try not to get tempted into buying a phone full of features from 3 because they are really really bad. None of the other phone networks have had as many complaints as 3 put together, as shown on the bbcs watchdog.

Not a bad phone. Waiting to get it 'un-locked' to all networks. 128mb memory stick duo from Miller Brothers Electrical...#39.99 ***Best price anywhere. Can get Sandisk for #29.99 but not sure how phone will like it ? As we know, 3G mobiles tend to be very finacky !!! Battery life generally good, bluetooth works well, good pics and vids... annoying lack of file share with other mobiles, frustrating that you cannot upload Java games to memory card or phone unless you pay #5 each from 3...

THIS IS THE WORST PHONE IN THE WORLD MY FRIEND DAN GOT 1 OF THESE PHONES AND WHEN U SEND HIM TEXT MESSAGES HE EITHER DOESNT RECIEVE THEM OR WHEN HE OPENS THEM 2 SECONDS LATER IT AUTOMATICLY DELETES IT AND IT IS BIG AND HEAVY AND VERY UGLY I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PHONE TO ANYONE AND THIS IS BAD COZ I WORK IN THE CAR PHONE WAREHOUSE THIS PHONE IS A RIP OF SO DONT BUY IT!!!!!

This phone is great it has two cameras one on the outside and one facing you for video calling another greatfeature is that there is so much to download like clike clips games and ringtones.Note to all buyers if you go to argos or dixons you can get this phone for 45 quid

ive had this phone for about 1 and a half weeks and the novelty has already worn off. its to heavy, battery life is shocking, comes with no games and limeted ringtones and i can not download any music from my computer on to it. also i am having trouble finding a memory stick. WARNING, DO NOT BUY!!!!!! ESPECIALLY ON THE 3 NETWORK.

Had this phone a couple of months now and it just gets worse and worse. I cant manage to have a conversation with anyone for longer than about 50 secs before it cuts me off. It takes me 5 dials before it manages to connect to who im ringing then shortly after gets cut off again. Im am using on average 40 mins of my free 500 mins per month, because of the connection problems. Now the phone has broke and no one can hear me I speak. I am at present ringing INDIA trying to get someone to repair it, i have been on hold for 17 mins now, waiting to be put through to a repair centre. I cant wait for the contract to be up to get rid of it, its absolutly useless.

This phone is rubbish. Battery life is truly appalling. The phone is as heavy as a brick, software has problems like shutting down at random, deleting messages, freezing, etc. The 3 network is poor and the customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with EVER! The call centres are in India, which always leads to language and communication difficulties whenever you call them. Not to mention the time waiting for your call to be answered and the fact that they NEVER ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING USEFUL ANYWAY!!! Do not buy this phone.

Battery life is about 1 day if you DONT use the phone at all. Currently I'm having to charge mine about twice a day, and that is with the extended battery - which sticks out the back of the phone. This is my third phone, and it still regularly crashes, tells you it has signal when it doesnt, screen fades out etc... Blue tooth is not compatible with majority of bluetooth headsets - so beware of this! Oh and you cant upload anything to it except via 3's service... In short, if you have a choice - AVOID!!

I have had this phone for about 3 weeks and i hate it. It is a brick. The features are good but the sofware on the phone has many ristrictions, like you cant set MP3s and recordings as ringtones and things that you download cant be sent to others. Also the battery time is a disgrace it take 2 hours for it to charge, and then the battery doesnt even last for a day. The handset comes with a extended life battery but this battery was doubble the size of the original battery and the battery makes the phone even bigger. I have been using it with my optus sim card and the service always drops out, also when i have the optus sim card in it i can't go on the net or send MMS. The handsets reception is poor and sometime it takes a 20-30 seconds to send a SMS. I do like a few things about the E616, its camera and screen are good quality. I am selling mine and i will be getting the nokia 6230.

Bit of a disapointment really, video quality isnt very good, the key pad is very stiff and low raised so its difficult to dial and if you text lots then you'll get very annoyed because it is slow and just stiff! The ringtones how ever are excellent, and loud, would of been better though if more ring tones were included. As for the sound it is very loud, you could here the other persons voice on the other end of line if you were sat across the room. The reception is awfull, it is up and down lots. One major problem i have with the phone and many others with the same phone habve this problem is that it switches its self off, when the battery is full! really irritating, to be honest i wouldent recommend buying this phone, its overrated and without the budget video camera feature its basically just a large mobile phone, many better ones on the market

been in possesion of this phone now for over a month ,its small and very user freindly the pictures it takes are very good quality but the video could be better,i am finding it very difficult to get hold of a duo memory stick for it and also i do not have the right software on my pc to play the videos as they will not open in windows media or real player which i find very annoying also they dont provide you with free games which i feel cheated out off.the music is ok but i think they should have made the ear phone jack a universal fitting so we could use better headphones.
