From a performance perspective, this is a very poor phone and definately not worth buying. Long term issues I have had with the V600: * Charging often doesn't work. If it does, it's beause the wire is plugged in at a certain angle; * Tones randomly don't work sometimes; * The phone freezes at random. This might be during a call, typing a message or whatever. Often it needs to be turned off by removing the battery. * The phone sometimes behaves completely randomly, and not to your instruction. Multiple 'page' refreshes that cannot be stopped without resetting, an inability to access certain pages (e.g. messages) at certain times (you are just returned to the index) etc. * Many other annoying glitches. Every now and again I need to reset the date and time, again, this is needed completely at random. In sum: the phone doesn't always work as it should. This is not what you want! There are far more reliable phones out there.

Anyone and I MEAN anyone that has a bad review of this phone, is an idiot. This was my 1st contract phone (after owning only Nokia for yrs) and I have to say, that even though Motorola have reputation for making bad phones, this is one of the most robust I have ever owned. Mine died, only after being 'washed' by my gf and to this day (4yrs later) I have still to find a phone as reliable and as user friendly as this was (next best thing has been Sony Ericsson). Don't forget, without Motorola, we wouldn't have mobiles. as far as I can tell, all of the problems detailed above are in the minds of the user, or are down to user error. Don't blame technology for your inability to use it. I feel priviledged to have owned this phone and so should everyone else.

I don't understand why everyone else hates this phone! :S I've never had any troubles with mine. The camera takes pretty decent pics for vga, the weight is just right - not too heavy, not too light - the screen is clear and bright, the buttons are small enough to keep the phone small and large enough to be seen, the hinge is still just right, even after a few year's use... what's to hate? Bluetooth connectivity is reliable, I can almost always get a signal (I'm on a rare network), it's cute enough for a girly phone and stylish enough for a butch phone, etcetera. I've only had one "hang", and that was due to an accidental setting I entered. The only problem I might cite is that I can't store many text messages, but I'm unusual in that I don't use it for calls, just texts, so I need more than most. I give it 4 stars! :)

The basics - charging, speaker phone and response time are not at all reliable and will go off any time and again start working if they feel like.

Also messages can take forever to come through. It has a bad habit of changing ring styles and going into silent mode, it switches itself of randomly, menu system feels slow and i dont think the set up is all that user friendly either. I've had the V600 for 15 months now. It looks good and is packed full of features (albeit lacking video recording) - which are listed on numerous web sites, so no point in repeating them here. However I do find the side-button for volume control/ring style irritating, as it can easily be caught and change itself to something not wanted. I also find the memory quite limiting. Furthermore, my USB data suite doesn't even recognise the inbox (to transfer texts, e-mails, etc. to PC), which I have been told by the USB manufacturer is common to many Motorola 'phones. Anyway, 3/5 for features. That's the good news. Now for the bad news, which mostly centres around reliability. (1) My first V600 was purchased just before a two week holiday in the US. I was struggling after 5 days and by 10 I'd given up - some internal problem caused the battery to short out. It got to the point that it would not hold a recharge even for a minute of operation. It became effectively unuseable for the second of the two weeks, putting me out of contact. The handset problem confirmed by the shop and replaced free of charge. (2) After 8 months of use, the second set needed an internal chip that controlled dialling etc. replacing, after signal strength would drop totally and for no apparent reason. Calls failed and texts would be held in the outbox. (3?) Also, when writing a text at the same time as receiving a text caused the phone to power off and back on again, losing the text being written. I'm not sure if this is related to the chip problem or not. Four months after having that chip replaced, the same problem is rearing its head again. I'll get it reparied and hang on in there for a month or two more but will upgrade later this summer to something with video recording, MP3 playback and expandable memory capability. It would be wrong to judge Motorola on the basis of one person's experience of one 'phone but it's safe to say that I'm not soley looking at Motorola for my upgrade. My old Nokia "house-brick" from the mid-1990s, which the V600 replaced, has proven far more reliable (if lacking in features)!!

I've had this phone since Chiristmas 205 now and up until about July last year I was very impressed. The camera is brilliant the games a good and bluetooth is easy to start up. But since July the handset has stopped charging completly. That maybe because it used to be my dads though. When it did work the camera was amazing (Can't video record though) the light on the front stands out and flashes when it rings. The oly bad point about this phone is memory. It comes with 5.5 MB which is just enough to hold 1 song and there is no slot for a memory card. In the reviews lots of them say that the battery life is poor but I didn't think so. All in all this phone looks good (not as nice as the v500) and is not much of an improvement as the v500. I am looking for another phone now but I'm not going to spend much on 1 as I did not use this for calls but mainly for features. The motorola c975 is £40 in carephone warehouse and comes with £30 airtime!!! I would recommend that more than the motorola v600

The speaker has broken so when you talk to people you can't hear them much and when you recieve a txt or call you can only hear vibration. I told my dad that the speaker doesn't work and he said the buttons on the side turn it up, I tried that a million times and it is on full volume and it still doesn't go louder. I bought my Motorola V600 from used at Compact Phones in Bradford in May last year, and I loved the phone from the start as it was a motorola flip phone which meant that it made a promise of style. It didn't dissapoint - two tone with silver and black, and some chrome on the outside of the flip, and on the keypad. My phone was unlocked to all networks so I was able to put my Orange SIM card in and play straight away. This phone's feature set was good for £50, with a VGA camera that is very clear, Bluetooth and MP3 Ringtones, I was very pleased with this phone, as it was a modern replacement for my deceased Sony Ericsson T630. I use Bluetooth to connect my laptop PC to the Internet, and although a 9.6K internet connection is nothing to get excited over, it's an Internet connection that I wouldn't normally have - I can connect in the middle of a caravan site, on the cliff tops at Withernsea on the east coast, and on the Dale peninsula in south Wales at the Dale Fort centre. This phone comes with silver metal covers that make it feel expensive but they are wobbly, but you can change both the back cover and the cover on the clamshell to suit your mood. The only downs I have with this phone is that first, I am visually impaired and with all motorola phones, I find it hard to read numbers in my phone book. I cannot record video on the V600 but I can play it, and the memory is not that abundant (Only 5 megs). i would have liked Motorola to include PIM synchronisation so I could synchronize my phone book with Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 quickly and easily but I can still do it, just one entry at a time. In summary, I believe that we should give Motorola the contempt they deserve as too many people seem to talk about problems they have with their phones. Out of all the phones I have bought last year, this one is the best. I went back to O2 with it in July and have had problems with not being able to make or recieve calls or text messagbes, but by going back to Orange, I have ironed out these problems

As the phone was under warranty, I sent it back to motorola workshop (on the advice of my supplier) only to be told that nothing could be done because fault caused by 'water damage'. This is rubbish! Last year I had problems with motorola V500. On that occasion, screen packed in after 10 months. It freezes quite often, and seems to lack some of the more basic features of models lower down the range. In this case more was certainly less.wouldnt bother

This phone is ok in terms of functionality, but in terms of battery life, I think the batteries in Jenna Jameson's vibrator last longer than the battery on this phone. And for some reason, some clever fool at Motorola thought it would be a great idea to put a volume button on the outside that makes the most horrendous noise when pressed... and it often goes of in your pocket when you are walking up stairs. I think the phone actually knows when your in a place where phones are not allowed on e.g. a library or a cinema and then decides to go off with the use of the helpfully placed volume button on the side of the phone!! And don't even get me started on the memory on this phone, I think my gold fish has a greater memory capacity than this phone...Apart from the above, the phone is useable and generally ok.

Oh, and I'm a computer nerd. Pros: You can configure ALL the buttons on the Home screen, so it makes performing common tasks very easy. Good, solid design. I dropped mine in the sewer, and after opening it up, soaking it in alcohol, and drying it thoroughly, everything works (camera, bluetooth, speakerphone, connectivity still good) Great camera for being integrated into a phone (640x480 w. brightness adjustment and 4x digital zoom) Nice main color screen, very visible blue LED external screen. Oodles of ringtones. Easily change customizable ring styles from Loud, Soft, Vibrate, Vibe then ring, Silent. Cons: It's a little hard to figure out at first due to all the features. Voice recognition doesn't work for me. It could be my voice, however. Bottom Line: An attractive, effective phone with possibly too many features. I would highly recommend it.

After being the owner of several Nokia's (From back in the day of the 3210, to the 3330 and 6510), and more recently the Samsung SGH-S300, I decided to opt for the Motorola v600.. ..I sent it back within a week of receiving it. I found it extremely bulky, big and heavy. One thing I have found absolutely mystifying, is WHY O WHY Motorola did you put the 'Call' and 'Hang up' buttons on the opposite side to every other phone in existence???! It stumped me, and I lost count of the amount of times I pressed call by mistake instead of the red hang up button, to cancel an operation. The menu's also are extremely complicated, within one menu are several sub-menu's, call me stupid, but it took me about 5 days to find the games. Another gripe I had with the v600 was the fact that when you go to open the flip, there is a blank screen for several seconds before anything actually appears, which I found frustrating. The same also applied when you shut the phone, there's a delay to the time/date appearing on the external screen of the phone. The video facility also got me, you can download and watch video but not record your own - what is the point?! I've now gone ahead with ordering the Samsung E800.. After my S300, I'm sticking to what I know!

I bought the v600 3 months ago, brand new on orange, Within the first month the black plastic on the front is cracked and also the silver bit around the black plastic, Then recently the speaker where the sounds came out of has become really quiet, not the ear piece just where the ringtone sound comes out of. does anyone no if its a fault or just im unfortunante?? Please email me at danmartin_buzz@hotmail.com, other than those i think the phone is fine except that you cant store many mp3s and it slows down the phone.

Nice looking little phone, wasnt overly impressed with the quality of the casing though, especially the back, its quite flimbsy and although the flashing lights on the front look really good, i find the plastic is quite easily scratched i like the fact that you can download mp3's onto it, but i thought the sound quailty was quite poor, and especially when your actually speaking on the phone, not like the samsung t100 i used to have, good for predictive texting and easy to use menus but when finding phone numbers you have to scroll down the whole list instead of typing part of the name in and it bringing it up, (not great if your in a rush) also i find it quite slow and it has crashed a couple of times, battery life is quite poor too. overall i'd say its a nice phone to impress your mates with, looks really good but i'd say it was more of a toy than a great phone for making calls.

Overall the phone is great, however, the sound quality is clearly deficient. The sound is tinny and muffled on the handset as well as the supplied earbud. I have never experienced quality this poor.

Excellent phone with fantastic features. I found the menu text and sms text very small and not easy to read. The predictive text input is superb once you get used to it and it learns special words and throws these up as your first option. One big downside was that you can't get sms text receipts back to confirm a text has been received. The back casing is a bit flimsy. I have not found battery life too bad compared to my old Samsung V200 which was appalling. The ring tones are great and the audio very good. Voice dialling and Bluetooth headset facility are well worth having. Camera is excellent quality and has 2 zoom settings although the picture is not that clever on max zoom. The screen and display quality is the best I have seen. Its very programable via short cut keys so even the most obscure menu option can be accessed via a short cut key. Games are great, Monopoly is quite additive and the graphics are great. Downside: quite chunky and heavy. The "9" key sticks but this may loosen up. Overall I am extremely pleased with it

Pretty good phone overall. Battery life isn't great, but then thats what you expect from a phone with a colour screen/games/video (playback only)/mp3. It's good....but not amazing. I get cheesed off when it keeps telling me the battery is running down, a beep every 2 mins is a bit much. Not had any other problems with it...it works, does more than a phone really needs to...takes pictures that are bearable...ie...worth taking, but don't expect to be able to print them out. Above all it's quite an attractive phone!! If that's what rocks your boat.

Wonderful machine. Don't look for help with getting it running, though. Motorola go to great lengths to avoid helping you and the manual is one of the worst by any company. If you are a mobile phone anarack you will be delighted with this phone but if you are just wanting a good phone which delivers - forget this one... Accessories are either not available or very hard to come by. Will sync with a PC very well - better than Sony Erricson - but you will need to know how to do it without assistance from Motorola or the manual - and they keep quiet about the extra charges for the software to do it!

I've had this phone for a week. Very attractive, great internal display, good camera (providing lighting is good), lots of features although iTap predictive tect is not as good as T9 - not enough short cuts. Provision for external aerial is good when installing in a vehical. Found there are too many steps for enabling your Bluetooth device even though I reprogrammed the external smartkey as a Bluetooth shortcut. Receive audio is good and transmit audio seems to be the same. The major downfall of this phone is the extremely poor battery life! Doesn't get anywhere near Motorola's claims. If your a serious phone user don't bother with this one. I charge the phone daily and only use it for calls i.e. no games, pictures, or text, and the battery will only last about 12 hours before indicating low. My old T39 would go at least 48 hours. You can have all the features in the world, but they're of no use if the phone is dead in your pocket! So close, yet so far

I havent got this phone yet, should be getting it in a couple days from o2 the contract looks reasonable, but i have to say the features look really good and it kicks samsung's ass at the moment, the only thing that isnt as good as Samsungs phone is the easy compatibility to Pc's by the looks of it, and the colour basically but i'm not sure if thats true i will find out when i get it and post back. xxx

I\'ve had this phone for over a month and I will say I am more than pleased with the phone. It has every function you need from a modern phone, the bluetooth feature kicks butt with the added feature of MP3 ringtones. Also brought a bluetooth dongle which works well with the phone I have uploaded 50cent, Nelly and Punjabi MC as my ringtones PURE CLASS!!! The texting does take some time to get used to, camera quality is crystal clear for a cam phone and last but not least the look of the phone is slick \'n stylish. If you want a flip phone that looks expensive and has all the features then choose the Motorola v600!!

My capsule review is _do not_ buy this phone if audio quality is important to you. I\'ve tried handsets from two different stores and in each case the audio was tinny and distorted even at half volume. A guy in the Orange store said I was not the first to complain about this and that there had been returns. I\'m going to stick with my trusty 3688 and see what happens. Matt

Although I agree this phone has great features, is solid and looks good I was very disappointed with the sound quality during calls. The sound was very tinny unless the volume was turned right down and as soon as reception dropped below maximum I experienced sound break up. I had a 2nd handset with simular results and have since returned the phone.

I\'ve had the V600 for a few days on O2 Online(#69.99 @ #25.00 p/m - 500 Off-peak cross net minutes, 500 text/125 MMS text & 500 WAP minutes) and I must say it is one of the most stylish and functional phones on the market, in its class. It\'s got everything and it feels solid. I was going to buy the Panasonic X70 until a friend of mine told me he\'d had two replacemenets of it (from Orange) as it was so flimsy. I got a free HS800 bluetooth headset which is great, but I bought the HS810 too. I\'m so conscious about taking it anywhere though as it is so precious! I\'m looking for a quality colourless PVC case for it now. I would have given the phone 5 stars but I was unable to do file transer with my Bluetooth adapter, meaning I can\'t change anything on it at the moment :( I\'m considering buying the Motorola Official PhoneTools PC620, but at another 30 squid, I\'m beginning to feel ripped off! If someone could let me know how to do file transfer properly, via Bluetooth, I\'! d be chuffed!

Great phone, got it from 02 for #70 as an upgrade. Nice quality camera plus all the trimmings you would expect. Looks good, feels good and has a nice radiating ring light on the front. Only thing with this (and lots of other phones) is the texting is hard work (Ihad an ericsson before and they just whizz through the letters) too slow and keeps changing between text and numbers really irritating but other than that well worth getting if you like flip phones.

The functions are awesome as well MP3 ringtones, bluetooth, video playback and a very clear camera for taking pics. Overall this has to be the strongest phone on the market and value for money it is well worth it, the material is good as well slick metal not any of that rubbishhy plastic stuff you get with other phones!!! 10/10

bought it 2 weeks ago from 02..(free phones + free bluetooth ---motorola hs810--..excellent!!! 02 200 deal-#30 a month).. all i can is, comparing the deals curently available, i think i got myself a bargain.. now , the phone: definitely much better than v525/v500. its changeable metal cover is awesome, the circular lights in front makes you feel that you own a very good mobile. overall, the design is slick, good camera, VIDEO PLAYBACK CAPABILITY, and i can\'t think of a better phone in the market today .. i think the closest rival would be the new samsung (not out yet). Nokia will have to step up a gear to compete with this phone (they have been producing c### mobile in the pastyears - except 8910 probably).. My advice is : if you got #30 a month for your mobile, go to 02 stores right now (all phones free until 1 feb,if i\'m not mistaken) and buy yourself the v600!!

Bluetooth excellent. I swithed the phone off overnight and in the morning the blue light was on on the front display (no time displayed). Basicalli it had crashed.
