Reviewed by Nandhini on 28/06/2008I luv my mobile, its my pet..overall features are rocking (lol) but i have a problem with my mobile from the beginning. screen hangs or freezes while typing fast. then for 30 secs it stands like that, screen will go black then it recovers it self.. do any one have this problem? pls help me... Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by gnaneshwar on 28/06/2008 simply fantastic.... Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by razr on 24/06/2008 Pros: 1)Slim, fits almost anywhere 2)Decent enough camera resolution 3)Easy to use interface, once you get used to it 4)Great for texting, keypad and T9 mode are better than any mobile I have used. Cons: 1)Battery life not too good. Other phones like Nokia or Samsung would probably do better 2)Very low memory for messages (Inbox+Outbox+Drafts can not hold more than about 95 texts) 3)Gets scratched easily and conspicuously if dropped, but I suppose that is to be expected 4)Transfer of songs through Bluetooth not possible because of iTunes restriction 5)Call Register not very well designed. For example, number of missed calls, received calls, made calls not specified and Missed calls are in the same category as Received calls. Overall: A good phone, value for money. 7.5/10 Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Calisa on 15/06/2008 Let me start with the positive before going to the negative. The phone is a sexy looking phone, love the design and i am envied for it, other than that, the phone is total rubbish. This phone seems to have a mind of its own, The screen blanks out by itself, the battery life is 12 hrs. having to be charged every night, turns on and off by itself, don't talk about speaker volume, there is none. I have only had the phone two months now and it is not comming on anymore so i'll have to get it checked to see what is wrong with it. I am definitely going back to my Nokia, they are the best. If you want to be envied, get the V3I, if you want a quality phone seek out other options. this one is just for show. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by salman on 15/06/2008 the worst fone i have ever used.............slow bluetooth....poor battery time......poor camera quality......and its just good 4 nothing Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ellie on 15/06/2008 After avoiding the brand for several years - always thought they had dated designs and bulky phones I decided to give the V3i (Red) a go. I was pleased with the phone initially, however quite quickly it developed a fault - either freezing or shutting off. Which was a real pain mid-conversation or text. However, I did persevere for 18 mths. and decided against purchasing another Motorola - the main reasons being, the problem I had with function, reasonably poor build quality (in relation to past phones - but this seems to be a more prevalent problem as phone technology develops!) and dated software. Also, after having a Sony-E the camera & screen quality was rubbish! I've had many makes over the years and shall not be returning to Motorola in a hurry as it just doesn't compare with the software and range of functionality of some other phones. Rating: ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Scott on 04/06/2008 I've had this phone for 2 years now and I've only just started looking for a new phone. I love this phone! It looks fantastic, it's nearly indestructable, the mp3 players good, and its generally just an amazing phone. The only problem I had with this phone is the camera - it's not brilliant. The phone had been out ages now and doesn't compare to top of the range phones on the market at the minute, but that doesn't stop it from being such an excellent phone. It turns off randomly, most of the time when texting or receiving a message. It turns off, eliciting a bright white light before shutting off. It has problems turning on; I have to press the on button five or six times before it will turn on. It has a weak battery, not even lasting six hours. The phone won't make calls unless it has more than three bars - if it does make a call with three or less, it will hang up every five minutes or so. I haven't had any of those rust/scratch marks yet, although that may be because I put it in a silicon case for four out of the six months that I've had it and because I'm very careful when I handle it. That's one "con" right there. It's a bit TOO thin that I have to be careful when I use it. This is my first non-Nokia phone so I don't throw it around that much. THE GOOD STUFF: - It looks really, really nice. It was kind of my main reason for buying the phone. - Good enough music player. - Outer screen lights up when you press the smart key. - You can use the camera while the flip is closed. - There are lock codes. You can lock your messages, gallery, etc. and activate them again with a number code. THE BAD STUFF: - Fingerprint marks on the outer screen. - Bluetooth is really slow. Sometimes it says that an image or file is too large to open. I barely even use my memory card! - The rubber ridges on the keypad mark on the glass. - Not that avid texter-friendly. - My phone no longer connects to the computer. - Battery life. I charge it every other day. - Hangs quite a bit. My phone hung twice the other day. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Richard on 07/05/2008 I'm coming to the length of my 18 month contract and am on my third phone. I didn't use my first phone for a few weeks as I was waiting to transfer my number over to my new contract. When I tried to turn it on, it failed to work. I had to replace my second phone a few months ago as the teeth connecting to the charger had become so bent that the phone became unable to charge. This may have been down to my carelessness, however, you should expect a phone to be sufficiently robust to last the duration of that contract. That said, it is extremely user-friender and hopefully the latest model has improved, but if you opt for this one at least I would recommend getting some insurance. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Layla on 03/05/2008 Ive had a few of these phones,i really liked it it has good texting and it holds average memory the keys are nice and easy to use i like the fact that you can set up the keys exactly how you want them. i strongly reccomend it bur if you are looking for a much newer phone go for the Samsung u600 Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by jay on 27/04/2008 realy cool :) Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Matt on 22/04/2008 I've read a lot of the review below and feel I need to SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT on this phone. Some of the comments below are laughable. I have used my phone daily for well over 2 years now. The main advantage to this phone is the very large, and extremely clear screen. This makes it a fantastic phone for anyone who has trouble coping with the much smaller screens on some mobiles. It is build reasonably well, and I would no way call it fragile. It would, however, proably break if given to a teenager who treats it like a Star Trek communicator and flips it open with a sharp flick of the wrist. It is a flip phone by design, meaning you open it up in a normal fashion, not treat it like a kids toy. This is made by Motorola, not Fisher Price. Call quality is very good, both handheld and hands-free. The speakerphone is the clearest I've heard on a mobile, but not suitable for use while driving as it simply isn't loud enough. I can get a signal on this phone where other phones have failed, so I regard this as being one of it's main strengths. It is a phone, and it performs extremely well as a phone. The camera isn't the best, as there's no flash and the colours are somewhat over-saturated. But.. it's a phone. You just don't get good quality images from any phone, because they only put cheap digital cameras in them. You wsant good photos, get a proper digital camera. However, the photo I took in Portsmouth UK was featured in a newspaper, and many refused to believe I'd taken it with this phone, so it can, and does, provide a reasonable camera. You will, however, want to process images a bit before printing, to improve the contrast. This phone will playback MP3's at high quality, and it sounds great through good headphones. Unfortunately, those are not supplied and good USB type headphones are hard to come by (I made mine). The internal speaker in the phone is very good and has auto-compression, so that even quiet MP3 files playback at the required volume (something a lot of MP3 players lack). It does not playback VBR MP3 files, and I much prefer my 20Gb MP3 player for entertainment. Video playback is poor, as it is on all mobile phones. Simply too small for anything other than entertaining bored teenagers who want to make you-tube movies of friends being silly. I'll be sticking with my Canon camcorder for that. It does, however, provide a useful tool if you just want a quick "mental note" of something, which I do by recording a movie clip with a voiceover. Games - I don't really play games, so I can't comment much. It is what I would expect from a phone - a few simple games to keep you amused waiting for a doctors appointment or a bus, but don't throw away your GameBoy Advance just yet. Overall, a superb phone with excellent features. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by MJX on 23/03/2008 I see that some people say this phone is fragile, well to set the record straight, its not. I've bounced and dropped mine against the floor and apart from a little chip and a scratch its sturdy. There are two negatives to this phone. One negative is the operating system in that it uses. Its not as user friendly as a Nokia but it can still most, if not all of what a Nokia can. Once you get to know the phone though, it gets easier. Its not that big of a deal. The second thing was what annoys me most. There is a limit on the size of video and song that you can play on the phone. The is very annoying when you can see the file but can't play it. Simirally, one can only play .mp3 format songs that are below 192kb/s. For me this is a big con as I like quality music and most of the tunes in my libriary are in .wmp format. Also when playing the mp3 player one can't do anything else with the phone. Oh and the earphones that come with the phone have a life expectancy of three weeks. Bama The phone itself is stylish and classic looking. When I first saw this phone I said "wow", and it is a wow phone, sleek and stylish. Its an alright phone, there are better on the market and Motorola will have to do a bit to improve the system to make it up to Nokia Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by FU on 21/03/2008 lol just got a v3i and now im thinking of selling it already. how come that you cant change your sms alert tone? Sure my current phone has more memory and better mp3 playback but the v3i always felt sturdier, more well made. It fits nicely in your pocket, it's easy enough to use (I love gadgets but there's nothing worse than texting from an awkward fiddly keypad-no such problems here). This phone did break in the very last week of my contract, unfortunate, but I won't blame the manufacturer. I had a whole year with zero problems despite the number of times I dropped the phone, lost it down the back of the sofa or shoved it in my handbag with the ridiculous amount of junk i insist on carrying around! Only one small thing that irritated me a little, the button on the side means the camera can activate whilst the phone is closed, great for quick pics, but it means you get a lot of pics of the inside of ur pocket! I have had my current v3i for 2.5 years and its only just packed up, and before that i had a v3, same problems, but due to their indestructibility they last (in my hands) 10 times longer than any other fone ever made. who gives a toss about camera or mp3, buy a digital camera and mp3 player if you want those features, as a "phone" this one is truly iconic. Very efficient at what it does and it actually does do a lot more than i thought it would...the picture quality could be slightly better, but for me it was good enough to be honest. I had a little trouble towards the end of owning the phone where the phone's memory started to decrease gradually over time. One thing I must add however, is that I keep reading that it can be upped to up to 512MB but mine running a 2MB MicroSD Card and has full access to all the music and pictures on it, so why everywhere only says 512MB I dont know? I would charge it overnight and then would use it throughout the day with some light photo taking and music listening and it would be dead before the end of the day. the bluetooth was sooooooooooooo slow. sending was slow but recieving was ridiculous. it took an hour to send a 4mb file once which was outragous. The camera took sharp pictures for the small module that it was but the colours were washed out and if it was even a bit dark, there was no light so you couldn;t see anything in the picture. The interface is typical motorola, with everything working the opposite of where you would expect and everything in the wrong place. I had to break out the manual several times and it took me almost two months to work out everything. and finally the mp3 player. i had the non itunes one and dap takes about 5 minutes to load if you have a decent amount of songs on the memory card and does not run in the background. of course, sounds does but you cannot organise the songs by artists or albums in that so there really is no point. also, the volume, on both the headset and the speaker is not very loud, the bottom volume isn't really that quiet and the loudest volume isn't really that loud. To be fair, though, the phone does have its ups. I like the screen and while is not qvga, its large and bright and vibrant. the slimmness of the phone is impressive as well. its manages to be slim without being too too wide and tall like the new razr2. also, i like the keypad. it is large and tactile with a nice click to it Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Sam r on 26/08/2007 The phone is a exelent aditon to the motorola series,Ive had mine sience xmas and it still works as well as when i bought it,It has a brill 1.2 mega pixal camera,The sound quality is perfect! Anyway, I went to my Mobile phone company and they gave me a V3. 1st time with Motorola for me.. and honestly i was not that impressed. The V3 has a poor memory and it was not an easy phone to deal with at fisrt.. BUT, like everything in life, once you do know you way around.. I was ok. 3 months ago, I won a V3i. and There, I really enjoy it . The memory card gives me a chance to store what I need. mainly some MP3s and favorites pics. The camera is quite poor compared to the Samsung, not convenient at all when you try to do a self portrait.. and there's no picture editing at all.(a feature that it's Samsung counterpart, Z400V does have).. BUT, after all, It's a phone.. and I don t expect it to give me great pics quality, not to provide me with a Bang and Olufsen sound quality when i listen to MP3s.. I LIKE the fact that the keypad is wide, thus, easy to use, and you don t need a magnifying glass to see what you re keying. The sms predictive texting is better than on the Samsung and yes, I admit .. that phone does look great and is pleasant to use.
