Considering that 10 year-old boys tend to be heavy handed the joystick is still in one piece; all the buttons are there; and he gets alot of usage out of the camera which in my opinion takes much better quality pictures than the newer RAZR phones!!! Reviewed by Jake on 24/06/2007 I recieved my Motorola phone last October as a present, and it's still in good use. It has a few good points but many bad points about it. I like the way that how ever many times you drop it, it won't break and still works fine. But it's way too big for my pockets and the joystick gets stuck when it's in my pocket for too long, so i have to use my teeth to pull it back out again! Which isn't very good, as people wonder why i'm standing there eating my phone. I also like the internal camera, so i can take pictures of me and my friends without using a small little mirror on the back. The buttons are hard to push after a few months of use, and the screen often freezes. (It's only done it about 2 or 3 times so far!) The sound is pretty good, but the storage space is limited. My memory card only holds up to about 5 or 6 songs. The camera is very clear, so I can take excellent pictures with it. It's a shame it doesn't have Bluetooth on it so I can't share them with my friends! Rating:

Reviewed by nick on 13/05/2007 Disastrous phone, wish I hadn't considered it. First saw a 3G phone advertised for a very small price, cheap is certainly NOT chearful here. Battery life maximum 2 days without even being used, mobile phone tools software doesnt know what phone is plugged in, and it won't transfer any files to/from the pc. weight is a BIG problem, like carrying round the phone book everywhere you go, except you need big jeans to fit this in the pockets. 3 absolutely rip you off for your money. there are no games, or bluetooth, or infared. Reviewed by DFawkes on 28/03/2007 The build quality of this phone is outstanding - with day-to-day usage you'll never get so much as a scratch unless you hate phones and live to see them damaged. It does everything thats asked of it to an acceptable level, with the games working particularly well compared to some phones I've used. With the memory cards coming in sizes of upwards of 1GB, I use mine as an MP3 player frequently, whcih it does fine although the Java application built-in does tend to not see some folders. The thumb stick does kill your thumb tip when used a lot - it is a stupid design but you can get used to it. The battery life is also poor. Overall, I'd recommend this phone completely. I got it for free anyway, which makes it fantastic value for money by default, but it just works - like a toaster just toasts. Rating:

Reviewed by jburton on 14/03/2007 AVOID THIS PHONE -HERE's WHY: Undeveloped primitive phone. It promises all sorts of pointless novelties, but cant do the basics, such as recieve calls whilst charging, or in the case of mine even switch on. It has two modes: off and charging. Charging holds it paralysed and connected to the wall socket, so off is a more useful mode, at least then it's portable and I can take it to place it up the 3 salesmans rear end. Yes it's a brick and people are saying the joystick breaks. The menu system is poor too. It prioritises internet browsing over basics like text messaging and your contacts list. It may be cheap if you're buying, but the message is clear; it's a false economy and you can get much better. Given this mobile as a 'loan phone' whilst my normal mobile was being repaired. I have the most frustrating problem of all, the thing keeps dying and failing to work, even after 12 hours of recharge. All I wanted was a mobile phone which could send and recieve calls. I may have a duff example, but that's not good enough, they should all be good. I suggest to anyone, get a nokia, get it on o2 network, and get it pay as you. (Unless you really do use it a lot, and you never use your landline at home) My opinion of 3: it's all smoke and mirrors, they want to sell you gimmicks for teenagers so they can spend it on redesigning their logo again. Not on giving you a cheap and efficient mobile service. AVOID THE MOTOROLA C975: ITS RETARDED Rating:

Reviewed by > on 12-03-2006 Hi,
I have had this phone for 11 months and it is been quite annoying. I can't
tell for sure whether its 3G's network or the phone itself that is the
real problem.
Battery life is poor as mentioned, sometimes the phone doesn't ring at
all, it crashed about once every 2 weeks - if i didn't catch on I would not get any calls till switched off, etc., and so on.
this after 3 attempts to repair the phone which meant no phone for 1 week each.
One of the 3G engineer outright said I am wrong and insisted on this.
I paid every month £35-40. Yetmy phone got disconnected without any
information or even recourse after going abroad and making £160 of phone calls.
So my experience was sour however I do know friends who had much better experience. Rating:

Reviewed by Thomas on 06-03-2006 Although the handset is relatively chunky compared to other models, size is not an issue (particularly if you have been an owner of the nokia 8800!). The phone does not feature Bluetooth or IRDA, but does however support TransFlash memory which only works out at about £20 for a 512mb chip. Included in the phone's preloaded firmware is a Java-based Motorola media player allowing you to manage and play your music in a stylish and simple interface.
The joystick is a little clumsy, but you get used to it after about a day.
On the '3' network, the handset enables you to manage up to five simultanious calls, which support conferencing but unfortunately not call transfer. The handset allows you to be in one or more calls and still use
the phone at the same time, including scrolling through your phone book,
browsing the web (although video features are disabled whilst in an active call), sending/receiving SMS messages and emails and managing your active calls.
The hands-free kit is a decent quality and has a well-calibrated gain on the microphone. Calls are all carried at a decent quality on the '3' network due to the higher bandwidth on '3' transmitters. Any complains about poor call quality probably relates to the network the phone is using (note that '3' will roam to the O2 network, even though it is still branded as '3', when out of service). Video calls are surpsingly good quality with an impressive frame rate, and very easy to use. The handset is a little quiet, but this is corrected in noisy areas by plugging in the supplied earpiece/microphone and taking the volume up to full.
Preloaded to the handset is a Java-based Motorola Media Player. The player
is simple and stylish allowing you to manage playlists, albums and songs in an ipod-style manner. An adapter can be plugged into the earpiece
socket on the handset allowing you to plug in a normal pair of stereo
headphones, since the supplied hands-free is only 1 earpiece. You can get
one of these adapters for about £8 from The Link or about £5 from eBay.
The phone battery life is frankly appalling and does not last a full day, but undoubtedly motorola's excuse would be the fact that the handset maintains a constant connection to the 3G/GPRS network which is a significant drain on battery life. However, all is not lost. You can purchase 2 batteries and a desktop charger for £10 from eBay, which is probably a better option to the shops as they charge around £25 for a single official Motorola Original battery supplied with no charger.
The firmware is a substantial improvement over phones such as the Motorola V500, as any annoyances have been worked out (such as the slow menus).
Texting is particularly efficient on these handsets for previous Motorola users but will most certainly take some getting used to for Nokia users and such.
In conclusion, this handset will cost you about £40 on '3' with £30 credit included and is a fantastic deal. So far I have not experienced any physical faults with the handset or anything to make me regret my purchase. Indeed, the phone isn't going to be the best build quality in the world for a £10 handset, but considering the price - what are you waiting for?!
(p.s. I'd grab one of these phones before '3' start gluing in the SIM cards as they plan to do with future models!) Rating:

Reviewed by Bluff Tony on 05-02-2006 What a horrible horrible phone. I've never had any problems with mobiles
until I got this one. Within 3 days the joystick under no pressure came off, wasn't a problem because navigation using the joystick was a
knightmare anyway. Ok, a few months in and I stop receiving the odd text, the odd call drops... Not such a problem seeing as though it was free and if I stayed within my minutes it didn't cost me anything... Anyway i'm now
6 months down the line and not receiving texts or phone calls would be a luxury! The abomination won't even switch on.. It stays on for about 5
seconds and fades.... It did work for 2 weeks when constantly connected to the charger but now after 3 attempted to fix it, all it'll do is ask for my Sim card.... If its pressed in hard it'll turn on but you can't stand there for 5 minutes until it finally connects to 3's deplorable network with your thumb turning red due to the pressure... Move your thumb and off it goes.... It also has to be in the charger too... Anyway stay away from this phone even if its the last phone available! Rating:
Reviewed by David McMillan on 30-01-2006 I first got this brick of a phone last June & reviewed it on here in July.
Since then I've persevered with it as I can't get rid of it without it costing me, but it's got worse. Battery life still abysmal, & now if I use it without the hands-free kit the person on the other end can't hear me for static. £ & Motorola won't change it, they want to fix it which will take a week - I reckon I'll fix it myself, with a hammer, in seconds. This phone is the pits, the worst ever! Rating:

1) missing card holder for transflash card, so i had to return in to get

2) dead pixels had lcd replace (at same time as fixing transflash card
3) after a few drops (yes i did drop it a few times at work) the phone
made a fuzzy noise when calling, so then i got a new phone the k806i
hopefully never to drop it this phone
4) three cusomter service - stay away if you can although some people can be very helpful, some people can be rude and uniformative

The worst things for me, though are firstly that the coverage is patchy - on trips across Central Scotland between Glasgow & Edinburgh I can have it lose the connection several times, which is very annoying; whether this is down to the phone or to "3" I don't know but I never had that problem with Orange & Nokia. Secondly, and worst of all, the battery life is APPALLING. Even on standby, with no calls coming in, the battery is dead in less than two days, and when I'm using the phone I find it's flat after about FIFTY MINUTES of talktime. That wasn't acceptable five years ago, never mind now!! My Nokia 6110 was smaller and could last a week on standby and give me hours of talktime. I'm getting rid of this phone and going back to Nokia! Rating:

Reviewed by Kay on 27-03-2005 Gud phone, nothing particularly special bout it. Nice features but heavy and battery's rubbish. Shame it's on 3 cos they stink. Rating:
