Well, after much thought I decided to go for the LG Viewty, after being burnt with so many rubbish phones over the years I wanted something that was gonna stand the test of time. I've had it now for 4 days and I am really impressed so far. The camera is just amazing, I still haven't played with all of it yet but wot I have done has really impressed me and my Husband!!! The interface is really easy, I looked at the manual but kinda figured it out really quickly. The scrolling does take a bit of getting use to and it was a bit fustrating at first but stick with it, it does get easier once you know how. The touch screen is really good, I was abit worried as I've never had one before but I find it very responsive. Texting is good, I love the keyboard version you can choose, it does speed it up as I am use to a keyboard. I admit that when I get a phone I usually only use it for calling, texting and photo's which this phone does amazingly, the look of it is cool and it kinda has a bit of class about it too. The battery life so far I find is pretty good, what phone has a good battery life these days anyhow!!! I charged it on the 1st day for 2 hours and it lasted me 3 days which I thought was quite good!!!! So far I love this phone, maybe the best phone I have had? Yea I definantly think so!!!!

This isn't a review, however I do think the phone is good. I came across this site while trying to find the answer to: How do you delete all the text messages on a LG KU990 at once? The answer is select Mark/UnMark while in the inbox options menu. You can then tap the box at the top to select all messages (similar to an e-mail inbox) and press delete at the bottom on the page. Hope this is helpful to anyone that has had the same problem!

I've had my Viewty for nearly a year now and it is a superb phone. The camera is fantastic, I have managed to find games (at long last) on the web which are especially for a touchscreen, and overall it's a beautiful phone. Yes there are a few things that annoy me: you have to delete your text messages one by one, rather than by aging, the reception for 02 is very poor where I live - or may be it's the phone, all I know is that no-one can hear me!

I'm afraid I don't agree with your review one bit! I am a Nokia fan but thought I'd venture out and try something new...big mistake...sending it back and ordered the N96! Scrolling is a total mare- if u type a long text, if you haven't stamped on it out of frustration from hitting the wrong keys, try reviewing your message by scrolling up...good luck! Also, if you have to call a number where there's an answer system and you have to type in options, that's a pain...first find where your phone key pad is as it disappears once you've made an initial call, then it will apply a lock. Other things...no soft backspace key, just a hard one, and a soft one that looks like a backspace but isn't and takes you completely out of the message you are typing.... there is a pen with it too, but you can't slot it neatly into your phone, you just have to carry it round with you and it looks like some deformed lipstick....and to top it all, battery life is unbelievably short! Buy at your peril!

I've had a Viewty now for a couple of months. It's good in so many ways but it was a mistake for me. I'm a heavy smartphone user - contacts, calendar, to do list, etc - and an even heavier texter. I help to run a rugby club and need to text out to 50 to 60 players three times every week and the Viewty is not the world's best text phone. Although you can create groups of almost any size (1st team, 2nd team etc.) you can only pick ten names from a group at a time to send a text to and you have to go through the group to add the names manually to the text list. The screen shows only 3 lines of text with the bulk of the display making way for the on-screen buttons. for short texts that's ok but navigating several lines of texts is very difficult. The jog wheel helps but inserting or deleting the odd word or character is still very difficult. In all other respects it's a lovely phone, beautifully made, looks great, feels good, great camera, great internet, pretty good at synching with Outlook but oh for the ability to send a single text to 50 or so people like my old Nokia 6680.

I completly disagree with anyone who thinks this is a rubish phone. If your thinking of buying this phone, just go for it, I promise you wont regret it

Had this phone a week now and lets just say i cannot put the thing down. It looks great, feels great and the features are amazing. Like some have said, it does help if you read the manual to know what it is capable of. I thought i would be able to pick the phone up and have play around to see what its capable of...how wrong i was! Not finding the scrolling and touch screen difficult to use at all and navigation is really easy too...i was a bit afraid coming away from a nokia's ease of use...but this ticks all the boxes...everything is where you would imagine it to be. I previously had the E61 and I am so glad that this doesnt have the same clunky software that made sending messages a nightmare. The camera is pretty good too, has made my camera redundant. you actually feel quite involved with this phone. it responds with a subtle vibration when you touch a key... any gripes??? nope...i know i have only had it a week but i literally havent put the thing down...and the best part is that i have only had to charge it once in the week i have had it. my opinion, get this if you like a flashy gadget phone that is also practical. Does everything you want it to without clunky software and most of all it looks great. a must for any gadget seeker.

There is a lot to learn about this phone as it is so feature rich. I have not had any problems setting it up for email or connecting to my PC via bluetooth. The camera is good but the video functionality is fantastic. All in all it is a great piece of convergent technology!

come on. this phone cannot be compared with iphone. i had lg prada before, it was very very good until i used the iphone. I also had the chance to view this phone an upper level of lg prada its nice too with manuel auto focus 5mp camera touch screen also good, you can get used to it ina couple of days. But no wifi (the biggest minus for this phone). I also used the omnia but none of the touchscreens of the phones can beat iphone's (very sensitive and easy). So as a conclusion if you haven't used iphone yet this phone can make you very happy. Otherwise keep on with iphone.

When i went for a new phone i wasnt looking to have this one at all, i thought it looked "like a brick" compared to some of the others. However, the woman in the shop let me have a play about with it and within minutes i fell in love with it. The touch screen is brilliant, altho i think it will scratch over time. I have read reviews which say it is impossible to text on, it isnt. It is slightly slower than your normal key pad but because of the vibration on touching a letter, it is more than quick enough for me (and i'm a texter. The battery life is excellent, i have only have to charge it over perhaps once every 3 days. Transferring files such as music etc from your PC is a doddle. If i had one gripe it would be the camera. My previous phone was a Sony K800i on which the camera is amazing and although this has a 5 mega pixel camera they arent as clear. I have tried all different settings. Overall though i would recommend this phone. Excellent!!

Rubbish! I had a really old BT Jet breeze block that I replaced with the Viewty. Big mistake. The Viewty has suffered 3 screen failures, absolutely useless in the sun as you cant see the screen and dodgy software. Alright for gimmicks and things you'll never use. It has nothing that the Jet hasn't got except for the camera that I hardly ever use. Its a case of its comes out you must have one...why! You will also need a small nuclear power station to drive the battery as it goes flat every 2 days compared to the Jet that I recharge every week! In other words don't bother, leave the hype behind!

okies, lets see if we can set a few things straight. I've worked for 20/20 and dextra in Crewe uk on mobile phone repairs / returns, and also for a Master Photographer so I understand both phones and cameras pretty well. Firstly, the touch screen interface : Excellent. Works like a charm and easy to get used to. The menus are reasonable too, and nifty shortcuts for camera and video and pictures. However.. No short cut for the mp3 player. Secondly.. and still relating to the mp3.. the speaker sound on the phone is frankly poor. I have owned a Motorola Rokr for a few years now and have found no other phone that comes close to the sound quality given out by that. The Viewty has a sound that puts me in mind of an old analogue B n W tv. I use my phone for music in the bathroom / loo but this just isn't cutting the mustard when trying to overpower the sound of running water from the shower. The headphone quality of music is ok, but then how can it not be, its a digital representation and as long as you have decent headphones you get good music quality. Third.. the video... excellent. Sat at the Amsterdam tournament yesterday I was luck enough to capture a goal on "film". Was able to reply it at good quality while people all around viewed to establish "Was it off side?!". The capacity to play divx is brilliant, and the bundled divx converter, a smart move. Watching video on the move? This is ideal. Simple to use and with only one issue, but that probably linked to the camera lens / firmware which is point 4.. Fourth.. The camera. Supposedly the highpoint of the phone. Its... ummm... Its difficult to explain about. One massive flaw... not one that people might even notice in day to day situations, but one which I picked up on after a few days.. the camera is incapable of reproducing a vibrant red. It's pink! Pink every time. It's not the contrast, all the settings tweeked / fiddled with etc and still, with both camera and video, red comes out pink. You don't wear/photograph red? Fine... but if you do... its grimmer than grim death on a grim day! As it happens, my wife has the G800 and we ran comparisons, and the end result was she said, "well if you want to record/play video use your Viewty, if you want to take pics you can borrow mine.", which is great, but thats not what this phone should be about. In truth, there is a lag on the camera too, and the focus can be a little suspect at times, the flash wont light a room, and the iso at a high rate generates noise. One last little niggle too... you will, without doubt, have to keep the plastic covering over the screen and the lens for this phone not to be scratched to death, and that means bubbles and peeling and generally a nasty appearance from what would be (if it were practical to remove the covering) a good looking phone! Advice. Given the choice, get a G800 for the camera, the viewty for video playback, an old motorola rokr for the sound and mp3 representation. You want all in the same package? Ah.. you may have a problem! From my own point of view, for what this phone is supposed to deliver, when correlated against the price and expectation, I am about to return the phone to the shop, continue to lug around my impractical canon 350d, and wait a little longer for something that does what it's supposed to, rather than making me see red (or pink as the case may be) at the frustrations surrounding this phone.

I have read alot of reviews on this phone before i got it, and they all sounded pretty good. I previously have the Sony Ericsson V630i which was an average phone with 2mp camera. I had experienced lots of probs with it so decided to get this one. I was very impressed when i heard it have 120fps. When i recieved this phone, i checked out the camera. It was pretty good, maybe not AS good as i thought, but better than my other one, and thats what mattered. You have to alter the settings i guess to make it better quality. The 120fps Video Is Excellent ! the quality of it aswell is amazing. The touch screen responds pretty fast, i havent tried it with the stylus, at the set didnt come with one ;| Texting can be difficult to press the right letters on the qwerty keyboard, but i guess you have to get used to it. Using A stylus would be easier as the letters are small. Sound quality is Pretty Good i must admit. Theres Only 4 themes on the phone, and i want more, but dont have a clue how to get them on it and install them, so if ANYBODY KNOWS, PLEASE TELL ME =) THANKS. overall, i would give this 4/5. im happy with it, but not 100% impressed.

Phone sets a great first impression but i have owned this phone for approximately 8months now and there are several things that frustrate me: 1. You can not save pictures or any content from the phone's internet browser 2. The 5MP camera produces identical quality to the k800 3.2MP but the flash is aweful meaning photos at night/dark do not turn out at all.(If like me you take most of your photos out on an evening with friends then this is not the phone for you) 3. The touch sensitive vibration you get from the screen to make the virtual buttons feel better only works when the phone's sound is turned on meaning if you keep the phone on silent or vibrate for most of the time there is no touch feedback from the screen. 4. The touch screen technology is miles away from other touch phones meaning that when small buttons are near the corners of the screen it will take 2 or 3 stabs at it to get it, also for the same reason if typing a txt msg and you screw a word up you can not simply "go back" to that word without deleting everything you have written up to that point because if you try to use the touch screen it is not advanced enough to know which word you are trying to correct. 5. No Space for stylus so you need to carry it around with you or use your fingers thus making the above issues worse. With all that said the phone has a v.impressive video capability and the music player and radio is top notch. A good phone with just a few niggles which become extremely frustrating over time.

I absolutely love the viewty as its simple to use and easy to navigate around. The camera is great and the 120 fps video is fantastic for mucking around with!! The only downside is that Im actually on my 4th phone from Orange due to the first three having major battery issues. The one I have now still wont last past 24 hours on a full charge even with all the low power settings and I've even had a day where I left it on and used my old phone instead to see how long it lasted not using it at all! I'd agree with everyone else (pretty much) that this is still the best phone on the market in the UK at the moment. I'd give the Nokia 6220 a go if touchscreen is not your thing but for style and substance it has to be the Viewty...

Bought a Viewty last week, and would consider myself to be well versed in phone mods, pro's and con's. Firstly, it is a sleek, nice and light phone. However it is NOT, I repeat NOT, an i-phone rival! I also have a gripe about the call quality of the earphone. It is "tinny", distorts easily and is in no way as good as Nokia or Sony. I thought this may have been a fault with my headset, and even exchanged it at the shop...only to find the replacement was exactly the same. I also found the external speaker poor. On the plus side, it is easy to use, and does have some good features. Thanks.

if you are considering an iphone or the Omnia you should buy this phone. it is extremely stable and it hasnt crashed on me yet, even though ive had it for 6 months now. the camera is excellent, the interface easy to use, the media player bit is very good, and so is the video. texting is quick and easy, especially when you get used to using 2 thumbs on the QWERTY keyboard. the battery life is excellent for a screen of that size. it is also a damn near indestructable phone: i have given it 1 hour in the washing machine (accidental) whilst the phone was on, i have dropped it out my bedroom window (accidental again) and i accidentally left it in my freezer for 3 days (dont ask) and it still worked :D. i had it replaced anyway for £70 as the camera was a bit buggered, and the microphone a bit static-y. but the point is it still worked. my last phone completely died (samsung e720) because i dropped it in a glass of water. i cant fault this phone at all, except maybe the fact it doesnt have a lens cover but that doesnt matter too much. and you can use more than 2 GB of memory aswell if you do a bit of tweaking and use google ;)

I read reviews about this phone from all over the internet; from cnet uk, reevoo, here, mobile choice and alike and lots of people made negative comments including 1) Texting being difficult 2) camera quality 3) uploading file to the phone. Now texting does take getting used to, but im a fast texter and I have NO issues using this phone just as fast as I did my k800i, the camera quality is great but the photos are best viewed on a computer and uploading files is FAST when using the phone in mass storage format. This is a VERY good phone, but its NOT a smart phone and its NOT trying to be an iphone killer. This is just a very simple to use, extremely attractive, functional phone that does what you need it do. I would recommend this to both tech junkies and non-tech junkies alike. The internet access is fast, and it gives you a lot more space to view websites then a smaller phone like the k800i, and everything about it is just simply neat and impressive. Granted I hav e only had this phone for two days and maybe issues will apear later on like battery life but so far I have NO real issues. How ever its not a perfect phone despite the 5 stars... the scroll wheel being at the back of the phone is pointless and should be at the side as two buttons to navigate menus and zoom in and out, but its not a huge issue. Scrolling menus is a bit slow and the scroll bars arent that easy to activate, but again its not frustrating. The only larger issue is that inability to set alarm volumes and camera sounds seperate from the profile settings. I have mine set up perfectly to be silent and still give me vibration feedback, but I cant find a way to make the alarm sound on a morning? I also cant find a way to make the camera shutter noice or recording noise be silent at all? But despite those issues, those are NO reason not to check this phone out. With a 5meg camera and good quality video, easy navigation and texting and alike its perfect for those who wa nt a simple to use phone.

I bought the Viewty solely on account of your review. I don't deny all the positives you listed about this phone are indeed true. However, I'm amazed you don't mention the numerous flaws that this phone has (and I've since found out, if you look at ku990 forums, that there's a hell of a lot of them!). For example, predictive text. For some reason, it is not possible to clear any words from the dictionary. This means it's impossible to write a text message without it reading Hoy instead of 'how', HP instead of 'is' or 46 instead of 'in'. Yes, this phone has tons of fancy gadgets - but it's very frustrating when just trying to type a simple text message! Can we go back to focusing on the functionality of the phones, please?

Only beef would be the battery, if you use some of the feartures alot as I do (camera, MP3, internet) it will need charging by the end of the second day LATEST. So Kev from Midlands saying ignore reviews that say different to his?! Does he not realise that everyone and I mean EVERYONE is entitled to their own views? My own reaction to this phone is this: I too loved the Viewty when I first got it, but after that one and next 3 going wrong, I'm sorry but no, I wouldn't recommend it at all. The touch screen is a tadge slow in responding and trying to correct texting typos-forget it! we aren't perfect in typing and this phone doesn't help as its too hard to place the curser where you want it-even using the stylus doesn't help. Scrolling is hard too as the screen can shoot up too fast. There's the zoom part of the camera which is mutimoded so can be used to go one name at a time when using the directory, but its very fiddly. On the plus side-it takes excellent photos and vids-play back is superb too. The battery isn't bad at all and last a few days. I'll end by saying I had a very interesting talk with someone from a mobile company and was told LG ackowledge there has been problems with this phone, infact they even took it off the market! After reading my review you think again about buying the Viewty, but by all means try it for yourself. My mate's had two, loved it, but is now looking to change. I think its each to their own-and the Viewtys not my choice now.

The majority of things people are whining about in regard to this phone are down to user error or ignorrance! A) If you have an SD memory card you can buy an adaptor to insert the memory card directly into your computer regardless of the operating system as it will just appear as a mass storage device. Its also a much faster way to transfer any files! (You can also connect via bluetooth! a blutetooth receiver for your computer only costs about £5) B) The blurry pictures are usually a result of not setting the ISO to a decent speed i.e. 800 C) You can create a short cut on the mani screen for your MP3 player D) The battery life is going to last a lot less time if you are playing music or video on it as it is processing a lot more information and having to amplify sound, just like any battery operated mutlimedia device! E) The person who said they could not delete a letter whilst texting ???? Try the "C" button between your send and hangup buttons! jesus! read the manual! F) People whining about the screen getting scratched or cracked! its a delicate piece of electronics! if you leave it in a pocket with keys or change, it will get scratched! If you apply excessive pressure it will crack like most glass! best to use your common sense I would have thought G) People whining about poor network reception? guess what? its down to your network provider! I am with O2 and I get perfect reception! The fact is it is one of the best designed phones on the market both aesthetically and functionally! and as one reviewer said it does attract attention so best not use it in a bad area of town ;-) It will inevitably be swiped from your hand! I have had countless people ask if they could see my phone n they love it! As per most LG products it looks great and works great so stop you're moaning you technically inept people n read the manual!

Also the camera lens cover has cracked the pointer pen no longer clicks into position and the silver finish is wearing off. However to top it all it no longer accepts a charge and will not accept the usb cable so it is now completely defunct. I cannot recommend this phone and would suggest that you lok for something with a better build quality. LG are my preferred phone manufacturer and I have owned a few of their phones before. This is the first with such a low life. I am told the LG secret is a far better alternative and when I return to the UK I will be changing my handset. But keeping the simcard!Thank you.

At least with my previous lovely phone, Nokia N73, you could use it whilst recharging. Also the Nokia battery life was amazingly long. The scroll on the Viewty is pathetic and often you enter an application you did not want to. No case is any good due to the scroll wheel/zoom wheel being on the back and any case covers it. If you don't use a case, as I did for 2 days, the casing scratches easily and scuffs even in a pocket. All in all, I made a mistake leaving Nokia.....

I have had this phone for a few months now so I feel that I have worked out what I like and dislike. Firstly I think it looks stunning. It still gets comments when you use it and people can not work out if it is a camera or a phone. The phone is clear and easy to use. The voice sounds is loud enough to hear and it seems to have a good signal in most places. Battery is very good and does seem to last a long time. The touch screen seems to work well, although scrolling can be a bit tricky. Sometimes you need to use the screen to scroll and sometimes the wheel. Texting seems ok, although do not expect to learn to use it straight away. It is slightly different and may take a few days / weeks to get used to it (this is not a negative – just a fact of using a new phone). Radio also sounds good through the standard supplied headphones and the hands free is clear and easy to use (yes you still look like you are talking to yourself though) However there are a few issues with it that you should be aware if you are thinking of this phone. The camera is not at all good in dark conditions. In fact it is very poor. I have played around with the settings and can not improve it at all. It is certainly no where near as good the camera than my old SE K800i. This is a huge shame for me, as was one of the main reasons I chose this one. I like having a camera with me when out at night, but in truth is not worth taking any pictures with this phone in darker conditions (pub etc). The video seems to give good results in good light, but have not bothered to try it at night. The syncing up with my outlook calendar seems to work to a degree. Not always sure all the appointments have transferred over, so not always 100% confident that I have the information in my phone. I am looking at the settings to work out the best way to ensure it works better, but think it may be a glitch in the software. Moving contacts about works well though, so I have been able to back up my entire phone book onto my PC quickly and easily. Overall this is a nice phone and works very well as a phone with a few ‘features’ to keep it interesting. The only real down side is the camera, which I feel is very poor. However if this is not important to you, then go for it.

Well it would seem I am slightly lagging behind the previous reviers as I have only just got the Viewty August 2008, first to make clear I am one those people that reads every review out on the internet before taking taking the plunge and the three phones I short listed were the Tocco, Viewty, Secret,I decided on the Viewty based on the overall ratings. And let me say I am so pleased I did because the Viewty is indeed a Beauty not only in looks but performance as well, the screen size and images are truly delicous and eye catching, the scrolling and menu system a breeze to use, I love the feedback the screen gives you wehn tapping it, the camera and video superb with slow motion and lots of editing options as well. At first the texting was a little tricky to get used to but I now find it easy, I find if you type really quickly the phone will keep up with you better. I have read reports such as the battery life is rubbish, I think this has to do with the way you initialy charge the phone, I am getting over 4 to 5 days standby on mine, I dare say some people that inpatient charge it quickly thus not giving it a full charge , all this does is confuse the poor battery, I can only echo previous reviewers comments be patient, read the manual, take the trouble to get to know the phone and the technology and you will truly love this phone, I know I am

okies, lets see if we can set a few things straight.

Great phone, only 2 problems, the first being the camera, most pictures come out blurred but lots come out perfect so that is ok. The other problem is that it will no longer let me set a song as my ring tone, instead, when i click it, it comes up with an error message saying "invalid file." Apart from these issues the lg viewty has been a perfect phone.

Don't buy this phone if you have a Mac!! - I loved the thing when I took it out of the box, only to find I wouldnt be able to upload any photos (camera is great, by the way!), so I'm gutted as I will have to take it back tomorrow. would have given it 5, but the incompatibility with Mac is a major flaw, and lets face it they are missing a huge market.

I wasn;t sure at first, but after a little play n fiddle it's FAB. The only thing that is bothering me is the stylus is a magnet for the kids.

Let's get one thing straight; this is not a smart phone. I suppose it's not priced as a smart phone and so it's forgiven a little, but there are some basic things that I wanted that were not present and some annoyances that made me return it for a refund (thanks to phones4u who do a 14 days money back trial). As most have said the camera is great, the music player adequate and the user interface (touch screen) is very good. Now the annoyances; 1) I wanted to add an event to the calendar so that on the day the main screen/page would show me what I was up to that day(appointment, gig whatever) but I could not do it, maybe it was me, but the guy in P4U couldn't do it either. 2) I wanted to write a short note or two (or lots in fact) and then transfer them to my PC- nope, (possibly with bluetooth, but I didn't have the facility) not with USB. 3) I transferred a text file (notepad) to the phone (over USB using mass storage mode) but the phone cannot read simple text, it has to be MS word. 4) I could not read my TXT messages from my PC with the included software only email. 5) When I chose to view documents or photos or whatever, the phone scans the entire memory storage, including my 2Gb micro flash and lists everything it finds (except text files and anything else it doesn't understand) making is difficult to locate things. These things are probably not a worry for most people, but these are things I need or things that annoyed me. It's a very capable phone/camera/music&video player and the touch screen is very good (the scrolling takes a bit of practice), but it's not for me.

Message to Sammy - did you find an answer to your question regarding putting a security code on messages, pictures, etc? I have had my viewty for 2 weeks and I love it, it does take a while to get used to the touch screen but once you do its ace! Sound quality is really good and photo quality is amazing. The battery life could be better but is not as bad as what others have stated - mine last for 2/3 days with general usage. If you are looking for something a bit different from the norm then go for this phone!

I loved the looks of this phone. Very easy to navigate too. I would be completely in love with it and would give it a 10 stars. However, I'm on my second handset because the first one had problems with camera. It used to freeze after 2 or 3 shots and the only way to get the phone back to work was by opening the cover, taking the battery off and putting it back again. I complained to Orange and they sent me a new handset. The camera this time is working well and actually it's a very good camera. But let's be honest: i need a phone mostly because I want to talk and txt to friends and family. LG signal strength is RUBBISH!!! I had the same problem with the 2 hand
