LG Venus ReviewRating: Date: 06/03/2008 The LG Venus KF600 is a new concept in touchscreen phones. In fact it's a hybrid phone, using context-sensitive virtual keys in combination with a more conventional numeric keypad that slides out when in use. The official name for this new concept is the InteractPad.
The aim of this dual-display user interface is to give the benefits of context-sensitive virtual controls, whilst avoiding the problems associated with full touchscreen-driven phones such as the LG Viewty. In particular, writing long text messages can be a chore with touchscreen phones. The Venus gets around this problem by giving the user a conventional numeric keypad for entering text and numbers. To access menus, the user presses virtual buttons on the upper touchscreen interface. The virtual buttons change depending on what the user is doing, for example, when using the music player they become buttons such as play, pause, etc. This user interface design works very well, thanks to the attention to detail that LG have put into the design. There are some nice touches, such as the various themes that you can choose. And, if you turn the phone on its side, the screen and buttons turn too, and you can view them in landscape mode. Cool!
The Venus is a well-specified phone, although it sits below the LG Viewty in the LG range. It has a high quality TFT screen with 262,000 colours. The screen is split into two parts - the lower part being the touchscreen - and the overall screen size is pretty huge. The Venus has a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and digital zoom and can also record video.
The Venus has an excellent music player with a loud speaker. Whilst the internal memory of 64 MB is more than many of the Venus' competitors, it isn't enough for storing music. Fortunately the Venus can accept microSD cards up to 8GB, which gives it one of the highest storage capacities currently available.
Connectivity is good, with full Bluetooth support (including support for stereo Bluetooth headsets) and USB too. Battery life is average with 300 hours standby and up to 3 hours talktime.
Overall we rate the Venus very highly, and this is definitely a recommended phone.

Reviewed by Lon on 21/05/2008 I just got this phone! everything works fine except when everyone called me, the phone just shown the number but not the names, eventho they are all save in the contact list. all the contact list is in the phone not the sim card, but it shouldn't make any different should it?. thanks in advance! Reviewed by Marc on 13/05/2008 I had the phone for about 4 months now and the top lcd screen had mysteriously cracked. I keep it in the pocket of my hoody so it was really weird. The top layer is just a thin layer of plastic so any pressure on it will be sure to crack the screen. Not a recommended phone choice. They want $200 for an upgrade [which is in a few months] or $370 for a new one. I just ended up ordering the LG EnV2 today. They had good reviews for that phone on CNET. Rating:
