This phone is honestly one of the worst phones I've ever used. The volume for radio, music has suddenly become extremely quiet - and I've adjusted it so it's on level 7 but I can't hear anything. I've also made sure that the call volume is not the issue - nothing works; you're pretty much better off not listening to music or the radio because the frustration in trying to hear anything, and being drowned out by noise (just normal noise, traffic, etc.) outside of the headphones is just excruciating. In addition, battery life is extremely, extremely poor - that is however, something I can deal with - I simply bought another recharger which I keep with me at work. THe other thing that drives me insane about this phone is the insanely poor signal strength. I'm talking about calls that repeatedly drop out within 30 seconds of picking up; or picking up a receiving call and not being able to hear the other side. I've tried re-starting my phone when this occurs, and nothing works - you are pretty much left with ZERO bars of reception until the stupid phone decides to kick in. Actually, another thing that is pretty annoynig about this phone is the fact that whenever you insert the headset receiver thing (what u listen to for music), the phone turns off! THis is also the case for the recharger. No idea what is happening here; sometimes I see a small spark (more like a light - which lasts for less than 1 second) and it turns off. It doesn't even turn on when u press the red button - instead you have to adjust the battery before turning it on. AGain, no idea what is happening here. All these things make me hate this phone and I am so tempted to smash it into pieces, however, I'm on a stupid phone plan and have at least 1 more year to go before I can get a different phone. NEVER LG that's for sure. I was warned, but was persuaded by the nice look of this phone; which I admit it is. But that is pretty much all the phone is - nice to look at; terrible - honestly just terrible to use. maybe other LG phones are better - but honestly, save yourself the trouble and avoid the Secret. I feel the need to explain that I never write reviews, but I actually came on this site because I was googling how to adjust the stupid volume on this phone - as per first complaint :)

Worst phone I have ever had. On my 3rd new battery, life goes from 24 hours to about 3 hrs withina month. Now it only switches on when plugged in to the charger, so I have to be careful not to switch it off when away from home. Which is a problem due to the number of times it crashes every day. Cant seeem to lock the touch screen, so the phone randomly does stuff whilst closed or whilst you are speaking on it. Touch screen slow to respond. ( I had been warned that LG is just a rebrand for Lucky Goldstar, that dirt cheap TV manufacturer) A huge dissapointment all in all. Am going back to Samsung.

Had this phone for a year and the back touch button has not worked for the last 3/4 months. The phone randomley scrolls through menu screens by itself and the worst thing is half way through writing any long text message it decides to delete it on me which can be quiet annoying to say the least. On the plus side the phone looks nice but for the price I paid the faults with this phone are not acceptable. I would suggest people avoid this phone.

well i was happy when i first got this in jan 08 BUT it has terrible battery life after about 10 months it keeps turning off in or when making calls, sending or receiving texts. if you managed to keep it working for 10 months anyway, you will know how terribly slow it is, takes so long to do anything. this makes most of its features a no go zone because i simply dont have the time to wait. response in menus can be slow, and you will find yourself pressing the back button on the touch pad, waiting and pressing it again, only for it to go back twice, which is very frustrating. camera is poor and flash delivers photos that makes you and your friends look undead, which is cool i suppose, if you like white washed faces with plenty of noise, to re-create that nice old looking film grain effect. all bark, very little bite

do NOT buy this phone. LG is a terrible brand when it comes to phone, any lg phone I know of has broken. I am disappointed in this phone, it was expensive yet after a few months of owning it the touch buttons stop working propperly, they are very tempremental, and you will have difficulty doing the most basic of tasks. It also has a terrible battery. You'd think that with one out of three bars left there'd be a third of the battery left, your wrong. You'd be lucky to get an hour out it. Typically, a full charge lasts a day and a half, which gives you an idea on how unreiable the phones idea of showing you how much battery is left is. Another fault with this phone is the camera. With 5MP and flash function you'd expect decent quality photos but you won't get that. The flash overexposes everything, and without the flash the images are very noisey. On the contrary when you first buy this phone and the buttons function correctly, you can put up with the faults. The music player is adequate and the fm radio a bonus. If you are looking to buy this phone and use it for less that 4 months, I would reccomend it, however, in the longrun this is a phone I would never recommend to anyone.

After two months of light usage: Touchscreen lights failed, toughscreen touch failed, central button failed. After a further month: Phone would not make calls. A few days later and the phone GUI decided the English language, in fact all known languages were boring, so instead decided to display all text in an elaborate array of symbols and nonsensical characters, a hard reset fixed this, for an hour at least. Then the phone decided to die, no life at all; at first I though maybe the battery life had just reached an all time low and there was now a usable period of ~0 seconds between charges, but even when plugged in the phone failed to show the smallest hint of life. Quite frankly this is the worst phone I have ever owned, I had it on contract with Orange, who were utterly unforgivable with regards to the manner in which they dealt with my case. (another saga for another day). In short buy this phone at your peril; terrible battery life and a massive compromise in build quality and usability, in short; all in the name of a piece of functionless carbon. fibre

I have to say more recently i have had problems with the touch screen pads (Neon Touch) it doesnt always respond and at times the screen freezes. This is very poor as you cant then use the phone as you require the usage of the navigation buttons. To resolve I have to turn the phone off and back on again to whip it into action.

A good phone when it works, although it is annoying that they made a touchscreen phone that is barely supported by software. The touch-sensitive buttons on my phone broke, and now I have to restart the phone periodically to restore functionality. The text message limit is 1000, and there seems to be no way to actually save them as a backup to the computer (I can only view sms messages on the computer using the PC suite, not save them). The phone is very pretty, but will annoy the hell out of you...pick a different phone if you value your sanity.

In case I make a call longer than 20 min, the battery life shortens down to 8 hours... I though the problem was a battery so bought the new one, however, the problem is exactly the same. It is fun to use and has a fantastic camera - I have not found any reception problems with it although I would agree that with a lot of touch screen phones it can be hard to read the screen in bright sun light. The battery life is short but you expect that with a slim phone. On the plus side it is a very easy to use phone and you dont need to carry a manual around with you just to navigate the menu. On the whole I would say it is a very good little phone of it's type and the bonus is it is very chic and stylish.

I dropped my Secret onto a carpet from a very low height, and the chrome surrounding the phone simple snapped. Now I have to put up with it bugging me. About 3 weeks after buying this phone on the Neon Touchpad the top button has gone supremely dim whilst all other buttons are okay. Dissappointing!

The additional features are brilliant and for the first few days just playing the games gives hours of entertaiment which I should mention are motion controlled. The music quality is a lot better than my previous phone however it should be said that it isn't exeptionally loud. I have put this phone through its paces quite litterally with a beating and so far it has survived exeptionally. I would recomend this phone to anybody... unless you are a very VERY heavy caller as I have been on the phone for 4 or 5 hours twice a day very rare for me I should point out, and the phone died on the second call. overall a very good phone.

Very nice phone from a looks standpoint. Had it for just over a month. Battery didn't seem to be an issue for me, but there were times of poor reception (as others have mentioned). My issue is that like most people, I occasionally drop my phone, no matter how careful I am. First time dropping my LG Secret and the entire front piece of glass shattered. So much for tempered glass. The spread of cracks seems to be coming from the hard button on the bottom. iPhone and BB Storm have taken many a drops, and aside from some scratches, they both have come out well....the Secret, not so much. If you never drop your phone, this is a good phone to get, but the quality of materials on this seems to be more for appearance than actual real world usage. Zro

The touch screen function ends up pretty useless as it is very unpredictable, the phone has a tiny on board memory, the camera is great outside but terrible indoors at any light, controls and options are fiddly. It can be a good phone with its features but it freezes very often and the touchpad stops working so i press it more than once and it starts working again and all the previous actions happen, usually means ive exited what i was doing. The battery is very small but i deal with that but it the warnings dont come with much notice. Signal strength is average but the same as my other phone. The bluetooth is slow and the turning on and off takes ages. All these problems happened with a brand new phone. I dropped the phone recently and it is totally gone mad, button doesnt work, doesn't turn on except with a charger and turns off randomly, the chargers needs to be held in. It is not very strong as this one drop of phone has ruined it.

I would have preferred to give two stars, but since one is the only 'below average' score available I have no choice. It's a beautiful looking device, no doubt about it, so if all you ever want to do is look at it you'll be fine. Trying to use it, on the other hand, is - well, trying. First of all, it's difficult to press the raised silver 'OK' button without brushing the touch screen either above or below first; you can forget casual thumb-based operation unless you really don't mind who you end up talking to. Secondly, it's a touch-screen phone without a touch-screen interface. Well, there IS one hidden away, but only for a gimmicky subset of the phone's features. Why? It's like building a car where the stereo only works in first gear. Thirdly, it's SLOW. Painfully, teeth-grindingly slow. Quite why the interface should be so unbearably sluggish on a phone capable of high quality multimedia playback I have no idea. I can only assume it's deliberate, to minimise the navigational chaos caused by the absurdly fiddly 'ok' button. Fourthly, the reception is rubbish compared to every other phone I've had. The most annoying thing is that it *could* be great. It's sleek, tough, and powerful enough to watch DVD-quality movies - but it's so god-awful to use that you'll never want to. It's so bad that I've actually gone back to using my previous phone until my contract runs out at the end of this year.

This phone has great potential to be an excellent phone for its price range, however it really isn't that great. If you're after a touch screen phone, then don't buy this. The touch screen only controls certain aspects of the phone such as media player, photo search and games. The novelty of this wears off within about a week. The touch screen is also very unresponsive. I could go on and on about how I don't like this phone (I am about to try and send it back and get something else) but i'll try my best to give the other side of the coin too. Here's a brief list of pros and cons. Pros: *Great slider *Great for texting - keypad feels great *Good clarity from speaker *Video camera is excellent - but see cons for image quality *Glass doesnt scratch *very slim phone Cons *touch screen may as well not be there as you have to turn it on to use it, and its usage is limited to only games photos and media player *battery life is crap *battery indicator tells you battery is low and then a minute later the phone switches off *camera is terrible for images - it's a 5 mega pixel camera but images blur *touch screen lacks responsiveness - sometimes you have to press the same touch screen button 5 or 6 times to get it to work *bluetooth doesn't connect well to other devices

This phone has got to be one of the most visually stunning phones ever made with its shiney exterior and blue-glow lighting effects. But as the saying goes "with beauty comes a price" and I'm not just talking about how much this phone costs. The Secret feels very nice to hold but that is basically the only asset on practicality that it would get a mark for. The touch-screen and nav buttons are very unresponsive which only adds to the phones lack of speed. Yes it's jam packed with applications and a lovely 5MP camera but to use them takes far to long for what you'd expect in modern technology. But as I said the camera is wonderful in both it's photo taking but also video capturing abilities. The quality is amazing but the on-phone editing is not as good as it is made out to be. Now we move onto the Secrets biggest let down; connectivity. Firstly I found I lose signal constantly for no reason even if I'm in a top reception area which proves to be very annoying for se nding texts or calls but more so recieving them. Futhermore if you are hoping to connect your phone to your PC or Mac through USB don't get your hopes up, the LG PC suite that is supplied to help sync and access your phone on a PC is very unreliable and slow with no update or download available so be sure no to lose your disk (I did this and spent along time looking on the LG site but thankfully late found my disk). Bluetooth connectivity seems fine from what little of it I've used for phone-to-phone use. Another little annoyance that I found was that whilst the music player is open as the top screen it cannot be locked even after closing the slide, this proves to be very frustrating whilst moving the phone whilst playing music as the slightest touch skips or stops a track. All in all after time I have become farely annoyed with this phone but it isn't the worst model ever made. if your looking for a more stylish than practical phone and you are very patient then go for the Secret but if not stay well away from it and maybe even the brand LG as I have heard they all carry similar problems. Hope this helps for the future.

If I buy an item that turns out to be faulty I return it to the retailer for replacement or repair, I don't write reviews of it all over the net stating what a dreadful product it is (why do 80% of people only write reviews of things they have bought which fall into the inevitable but small percentage of faulty goods?). As my Secret ISN'T faulty I can tell you that as with any feature laden gadget you need to do two things: 1 - read the instructions thoroughly, and 2 - play around with it until you get used to it. For me this phone is style and substance in equal parts. The haptic feedback is effective, the menus are a doddle to get around, the construction is superb and solid (unlike the ubiquitous N95/6 which creaks like the plastic brick that it is), the screen is crystal clear and so is the speech clarity. The complaints about reception should always be treated with dubiousness - where do you live? What network are you on? I'm on Orange and live in London - I have a full 5 bars of reception practically everywhere I go, so I won't accept that this phone has issues with reception particularly as I get a better signal than most of my mates who are on various networks with various phones. The battery life is not good. Batteries that are millimetres thin never are. I like slim phones so I always make a point of investing the huge sum of around £6 to get a spare, whatever phone I have. Deploy the Power Saving mode, try not to play games and shoot videos all day (unfortunately they haven't invented petrol engined 11mm thick mobiles yet), and carry a fully charged spare battery if you're going to go out for four days to a place without any electricity. This is by far one of the most attractive phones around, and it works. If yours doesn't work take it back. What would you do if you bought an LCD TV that was defective, keep it and write bad reviews of it?

I didn't find the reception toooo bad but it definitely improved when I tried the paper over the copper pin trick. Fantastic!! Had the phone three weeks now and haven't had a single problem with it. Frustrating that people are listing "problems" with the phone when they just don't know how to use it. For one thing YES you can delete more than one message at a time and YES there is loudspeaker. Read the manual or at least play around with it for a bit before deciding it's flawed. Best phone I've had.

There are a couple of issues I have with this phone : when you slide the phone down it doesn't quit the operation, and you have to delete texts one by one, on occasions my phone will turn off for no reason - usually when I am editing photos -, the touch screen isn't great, kind of fiddly. But other than those reasons the phone is great, its handy and stylish!

Have to admit that it was the worst handset i have ever owned! During the 12 months of my contract, i have had the handset replaced 4 times underr my Orange Care insurance and ecah handset had niggly faults. Battery life is shocking, a days use if i was lucky, pc suite would not work with any of the 4 handsets, freezing and powering off at random, dropping calls and squeeling in the earpiece while on calls with the last handset. Upgraded today to a Nokia N96, hopefully it will be more reliable.

Hiya, READ THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS TURNING PHONE ON. If you take the back cover off of your phone you will see a little gold microswitch near the top right hand corner. This stops the phone being switched on when the cover is off. Sometimes the gap is between phone and cover is too big for the cover to depress the switch. Fold a bit of paper in two and place over the switch. Put the cover back on and it SHOULD switch on no problem. Hope that does the trick for you..!! Cheers D :)

Writing text messages is slick, quick and fun. If I could find one fault, it's that this phone doesn't allow the deletion of several old text messages at once. Unless I'm doign something wrong, I find I have to delete each message one at a time, which is mind numbingly boring. Other than that, an excellent phone.

For people who can't find things out in the first 5 seconds of trying and then panic:- Deleting messages If you want to delete all your text messages at once, then use the "mark" in the message options to "Mark all" then when you delete you get the option to "delete all marked". Job done. "Backspace key" To delete a single letter in a text message press the C key right under the screen. Symbols When texting, pressing 1 cycles through every day symbols. For say, a percent symbol (% for those that can't work a phone), when texting press options, then insert, then symbols. First 9 are displayed, scroll down to reveal next 9. And so on. Speaker mode during a call Press the big central button during a call above which is a speaker symbol, you can then turn speaker on. I am sure you can figure out how to turn it off (i take that abck you probably can't - try pressing the same button again .. go on!) Silent mode. Easiest way - hold down the hash symbol Cool way - disable the homescreen - configure your own then hold right touch pad for a series of profile options - including flight mode. Ring volume. Turn it up to seven. If that is too quiet for you, you shouldn't spend all day listening to music on headphones, you have wrecked your hearing because that ring is too loud when cranked up. Touchpad sensitivty. There is a setting. However if you have only had the phone a few days - have you thought about practising? It isn't like your previous phone you dolt. Vibration Then edit your profile and crank it up. Smashes when dropped Don't drop it you idiot. It's a phone not a basketball. Why on earth did you hold broken glass to your face? Hope you don't have kids - they don't bounce either. Expanding memory £7 at Argos gets you an SD card. Phone goes slow If you open the browser, the media player and so on, the CPU is knackered trying to play everything that you aren't using. This also drains your battery. Close stuff down (press middle button on right side of case to see list of running tasks). Battery problems Don't run stuff you don't need (see above). If you use the media player / radio a lot it will drain the battery quickly. If you want music 24/7 get an iPod. If you are in a poor signal area your phone has to shout to the transmitter using more battery. Consider getting a less sophisticated phone - since they have less emans of consuming battery power. Battery is Lithium Ion - google is your friend - however this means there is no trickle charging - charge frequently not for long periods. Have to plug headphones in to listen to radio on speaker. That's cos the headphones are the FM aerial - you cannot change the laws of physics, look up wavelength on wikipedia or simply pay attention in school. Vista compatibility. Vista isn't compatible with anything apart from a house brick thrown at it at speed. www.surrealscoop.oom

Another issue i have is that when i try and save settings for my camera it resets them everytime i take a new picture which is annoying, also you cant turn the sound off when u take a picture even if the phone is on silent, despite all of these the phone is visually very nice, and overall the phone isnt that bad.

Yes the battery doesnt last that long but just charge it up every night. Most phones these days have so much stuff on it that they run out of battery easily! Is it that hard to charge it? Anyway the motion sensor games are great and all my family and friends love playing on them. The camera is amazing! It's a little slow but most phones are, for example the samsungs! Bluetooth is great! I would advise you get the Sandisk Micro SD Memory Card because it doesnt have much memory. Its like under £7 for a 4GB one on play.com very cheap and that way you can put on all your fave songs on it xD. The texting and calling system works prett y well and the phone also comes with a phone charm, its used as a screen wipe for all those greasy fingerprints! What an overhyped phone! I like to keep up to date with mobile technology and I should have known better than to opt for a phone that had only been given 4 stars, but after owning this phone for a week (6 days longer than I'd wanted to) I'm afraid I couldn't even give it 2 stars. Don't get me wrong, the phone is very aesthetically appealing without a doubt. But i've had a trusty, reliable sony ericsson for the last 4 years, which hasn't let me down once, and it's light years ahead of this phone. The battery is soo awful that it makes the phone utterly useless. With my SE I could use it a week without charging (even after 4 years) and when the battery was on it's final bar, you could still use it for another day. This phone will die on you, mid phonecall and you don't even get a chance to tell your caller that you may run out of battery! Appalling. I won't go into detail, but this phone lacks so much of the functionality that I think even my last-generation phone is m ore capable of providing. LG are so obsessed with looks that they can't be bothered to think things through; what is the user likely to use a given menu for, what would be the next steps... The options offered on many menus are pointless and the ones you need are absent. May be I'm lucky as I've always had reliable phones. Or may be I just chose badly on this occasion. It's definitely going back. I've tried my best to live with it butI can't.

More seriously tho, for some reason it stopped receiving text messages - I had to turn it off and on again to find 8 messages waiting for me. I got the phone as an upgrade from my LG Viewty and this is the first time I've felt the need to write a review about a phone. After reading the reviews, I thought I'd give it a chance, really wished I hadn't. In the past I've had nokia, sony ericsson, samsung and motorola handsets and can safely say that this is the worst phone I've ever owned. Good points - the phone itself looks fantastic, feels solid, good camera. Now the bad points - my phone is on Vodafone and if I use the phone for calls (very short calls - <10 mins) or vodafone live (checking footie score), then I'm lucky if the battery lasts a day. The battery was fully charged and ran out after 2 ten minute calls and sending 10 text messages! Battery indicator falls very quickly from 3 bars to 1 bar and only get a warning seconds before the battery runs out. The phone loses signal very easily, I also have a work phone (a very basic Nokia) which is also Vodafone and can have a full signal on it, but no signal on the Secret. My handset turns itself off when you slide it closed. I loved my Viewty, but after this I don't think I'll ever get an LG again. Basically due to the terrible battery life which means you can't actually use the phone for it's main purpose - to call people - and the fact that it keeps switchig itself off I have to give the phone 1 star. I might have just been very unlucky with my handset, but I won't be keeping mine and am going to be sending it back and changing it for a Nokia or Sony Ericsson.

I got this phone 2 days ago, and I'm in love with it. I read a few reviews and watched a few videos on the phone, before buying, and a few people complained about fingerprints on the screen, and slow internet, and the poor response from the touch screen? I'm having none of that problems. When you recieve the phone, it's in a classy box - goes with the classy phone. As with EVERY new phone you get, your phone has protective plastic sheets over the screen, buttons, etc. I took all mine off, except on the screen and I don't notice it. So the fingerprints doesn't really affect me, plus you get a little keyring to hang on your phone, which is for cleaning your screen and is very good! My internet reception is very good, it's fairly fast and effective. The touch-media is excellent. It's responsive, and sensitive so i don't have to sit there tapping it 5 times before I get anywhere. When it comes to looking at photo's, and zooming in.. 99% of people said it was very unresponsive and not good at all - mine is wonderful! Fast & effective. If you're a texter, and use predictive like me, you'll find the T9 function really good! Usually with new phones, you have to train it to accept words, etc. But with this one, it has ALL the "txt-language" words you could want, already built in. With a 5MP camera, it just finishes the phone off. I'll agree, it does take a while to take a picture, but I think that's just while it gets the correct focus & lighting. Vibration is really good! But I'm a student, and i'm the type to take my phone to school, with it on silent ( my school allows this ) so when you're sitting in class, and everyone's working away, you're phone goes off. You may think "big deal?" Yeah! It is! The vibration lasts for like 10 seconds, and as i said before, it's excellent in terms of power. You can feel it in any type of clothing. But when i'm not in school, it's useful. Battery life is fairly good, and i'm a heavy user of my phone. So i personally think it's quite good considering how often i use it! Definitely recommend this phone, if you want; class, good quality camera, addictive wii style games, easy to text, good battery life.

I was recomended the secret and at 1st thought it was a very good phone but soon found a lot of problems. The battery life is terrible, from 3 bars to 2 bars lasts a couple of days in standby but the last 2 bars can last anything from 30 mins to 2 days!! The flash will go off when it wants to regardless of whether set to 'on' 'off' or auto and the quality of the pictures is average. Takes ages to load up pictures and the software is not user friendly. Good to text on (until you need a symbol!) and does look very nice. Won't be touching LG again!

I absolutely detest this phone. The touch screen technology is really crude, which means doing anything other than make a simple call can take forever because it misreads what you're touching. Especially when browsing the web it has a mind of its own, which is very frustrating especially when you're checking email on the move. And most of all, not only is the batter life dreadful (I charge mine pretty much daily as it won't last a full second day), it only gives you about a half hour low batter warning. Grrrr!!

Well, I've bought this phone four days ago and have test it. - About battery: I've charged the battery till it was full than disconnect the charge cable and reconnect it few minutes later till the phone indicates again that the battery was full. I repeat that three times. During these four days I've played a lot with phone, also watched entire Matrix movie (the first one) in divx format, tried out every single program and setting. Connected via bluetooth with pc, made a lot of phone calls... Still with the same first charge. I won't recharge till the battery indicator lost one "cell block". And it still run on the same charge (and I don't swith off it at night). Don't forget of course to set the auto light mode. And it will help to chose the black theme. -Regarding photo quality: remember to clean up the lens before taking a shot! No more blur pictures... I agree that the noise reduction software is too strong with ripetitive pattern subjects. Also the falsh at short distance is uncontrolled. About ISO settings: forgive the auto iso setting, it will boost up the sensibility to 800 ISO in a normal light indoor condition. Set the ISO at 100 ISO in daylight and max 400 ISO in a room. -Regarding signal strenght I suggest that you force the phone in GSM mode instead automatic (UMTS/3g) simply because the auto mode can cause problems when the phone "jumps" between one and other protocol. -Music player: gorgeus. It works very well with cristall clear sound if you set the equi. -Divx player: astonishing! It works, really! -Gmail: it is better to download the gmail for mobile (it is faster) instead of using the default program. sTouch buttons: if LG have left out the "down" touch button under the "phisical" central button, it would be a better idea. Incidental press-buttons happens only with the "down" touch... Well, finally I can say that I like this phone.

I had this phone on contract 2 months ago, and I can honestly say its the most irritating phone I have had, and I have had a lot! Yes it looks great - until you touch it, but thats why they have added the little dangly thing to clean the screen with, but this can be a downside as I am constantly holding it out of the way whilst trying to take a photo. The lens is in a bad place and I have lots of photos of my fingers.. The battery life is the worst I have ever known, charge it all day and I can guarantee after an hour or two of playing about with it you will need to charge it again. The touch screen is really annoying, rarely taking me where I wanted to go and quite often the screen freezes until the battery is removed and then put back in again. This phone does look stunningly beautiful but I would only recommend for people who have bags of patience, and definately not for serious heavy use.

Stylish and strong. Scratchproof and you could probably do some damage with it as a weapon (not that you would) The only issue is the flash lite OS. Slow and awkward. The file manager shows the memory card files as one merged list, unless you are only viewing the card data only (last option on the list). So you can't navigate around a folder structure very well. They've got a few similar features and layouts to the OS on SE phones. But the load time is so annoying, watching that damn flash loading thing. And it doesn't even play normal swf content. Only special flash lite ones of which there is very little of. If anyone finds some half decent software or flash lite stuff for this, please let me know. Opera downloads and works but i couldn't get a proper signed version on it so downloading files you have to allow it access to your phone about 5-10 times for one file. Haven't really felt the full force of hsdpa yet either, my SE k800i was as good on the web. Probably down to my provider and coverage. But it's good enough i suppose. Touchscreen is no more than a gimmick. You'll also notice that the video camera has difficulty in low light when using the different frame rates. Almost like a threshold, when there is enough light it's suddenly brilliant. I think it may be an issue with the auto-brightness. I've had two of these so i don't think it's just a faulty phone. Anyone else had this issue? Looks good, feels good, great for phoning and the T9 isn't too bad. OS needs a lot of work though and this is what could make a good phone a great phone. Still worth a 4 stars but could so easily have been a 5+ stars. LG- i hate to say it but learn from the iphone.

Loved the 'phone, BUT for 2 things... The battery life is OK (about 3 days on standby with maybe an hour's calls and an hour receiving all the contacts over Bluetooth, with Bluetooth & 3G turned on all the time), but there's little or no warning when the battery's about to expire - it goes from 3 blobs to dead in no time at all... Secondly, reception is patchy to say the least. On Orange, my old Sony gets at least 2 bars of signal all round the house, with the LG it spends all of its time either on "Emergency Calls Only" or no service at all. Strangely almost everywhere else, the signal seems fine. Unfortunately, the whole point of a mobile phone is to make calls which you can't do if there's no signal. Sorry LG - a lovely phone let down by its sensitivity - only 2 stars.

OMG, If you are going to write a review commenting on poor reception etc, at least state which network you are on and where you live, because if you are on orange and live in the countryside, reception is going to be poor for certain. With most new phones its a trade off between looks/functionality and practicality/reliability. If you buy an IPOD how long does the battery last if you use it all day?? 10 hours? Its the same with a phone so if you want a phone that you can use for 24hrs a day without having to charge it for 3-4 days at a time you should go and buy one with a car battery attached to it! The fact is, the more physical features a phone has (ie slide, touchscreen, camera) the more battery power is required in order for it to function. Its quite simple really!

Sent this one back, and recieved a replacement handset from Orange within a week. This handset improved and text messages started flowing in, then it started playing up again, this time with my blue tooth and once again connecting to the computer. Bluetooth would send to other phones, but wouldn't recieve with this in mind i rang the Orange services and they sent out another replacement handset. This time my LGsecret will not charge at all, bearing this in mind the battery life of this phone is appauling meaning i have to charge it every 2days. However, if you're having problems with battery life it might be worth trying this...you should not be charging a new handset for longer than it takes to fill the battery up. On old handsets you had to charge for about 10 hours for the first charge. This is no longer the case-if you charge your battery for too long it will overload it and ruin your battery life. Just charge it for an hour or until it says that it is full. This may help those of you experiencing poor battery life.

Also the carbon back is really unique. 2: The 5 MP camera is excelent, you can add a lot of extra effecst while shooting the photo or video. You can also manually or autmaticlly sharpen the photos. The red light is also cool. 3: Touch navigation (buttons) is really fast i didn't expect so fast on the menu and other things. The phone doesn't freeze or turn off or anything. 4: Touch media is a really great and also fast tool. If you want to have fun with the M-Toy games. You can also browse photos/documents/mp3's. You can zoom in or out on photos/documents while you are on touch modus. 5: Phone calling is really quality and loud when your talking (much better then other phones). The Mp3 player is also loud but not as SE or Nokia. 6: The battery is perfect till now i have been using it today whole day playing, calling etc.. and my battery is still full. 7: You have a lot of things in the phone like Movie maker (making your own videos with sound on background, special effects...) While your browsing on net you can use the Tab browsing functions wich is really handy. It supports also RSS feed reading. 8: Video functions is the best, you can record in fast and slow motion wich is really funny. The recoreded video will be saved in .avi format on your phone memory or external memory. 9: You can play DviX videos, mp3, mp4, rm, aac, mpeg-4, 4gp and much more... 10: The phone is really excellent and you wont get bored on it. Press the silver button when on a call and a little speaker appears. press it again and wollah you have a speaker. Only problem is the phone keeps turning itself off. I have called orange today and another is being deliverd to me tomorrow evening to swap. Fingers crossed this one will be ok as i do love the phone. I even got a free 8mb memory card and a little screen cleaner that can be attached to the fine its great. Fingers crossed new one will work fine

I luuurrrvvee it xD Seriously though, this phone is sexy and has pretty much every feature conceivable!! The battery life isn't bad if you turn off all the extra bits added as defaults (Keytone; which pisses me off anyway, Bright Backlight; unnecessary a la max). Oh and the reception is pretty damn good (no idea what the review's talking about) I'm on Orange by the way. PS- Ollie, unless your particular phone is messed up, the phone is probably locking itself and "switching off". My internet is actually remarkably fast!! I was pleasantly surprised. What more you can connect it to your laptop and surf the internet there. Did I mention, it's sexy as hell? Oh and check out a few Youtube videos; some guy sets the thing on fire and runs it over. The phone comes out with neither scratch nor burn xD All in all, I'm sure this phone'll give you a good number of years of excellence, if not 18 months xP Take Care!!

Got mine last week after much deliberation. It worked fantastically apart from the 'end call' button was a bit flimsy. Then after 3 days one of the blue touch buttons started to flicker and turn off when you press the end button and then disappeared. This did not amuse me after paying £35 for the phone. I took it back to Vodafone and was given another one with a much better end call button - but I quickly found that the slide mechanism didn't work so the keys wouldn't lock at all, the phone wouldn't light up when opened and I couldn't answer calls either that way! That was 2 brand new phones that were faulty so I didn't want another one (although they were willing to give me a new one) The phone itself is fantastic, nice touch screen option for us ones who prefer texting with the T9 but like a bit of technology. The wii technology games are great. Although the ring is a bit quiet, and the tones are a bit limited for someone who likes a simple ring. Scratch proof is great. Easy open back panel to get to the battery (unlike most phones) Video calling is good too. Unless you are unlucky to get a faulty one, then definitely get this phone. Im going to get the Samsung Tocco myself after my luck with the Secret.

Also a little tip for people if you want to delete all the text messages in your inbox you have to select 'mark/unmark' then 'mark all' then 'delete all marked items' - this saves alot of messing about!!!

I find the signal perfect and love the automatic search feature when you put in a number. The bad points though are starting to annoy me. The battery life is poor, and when the battery is dying it uses the last bits of power to flash and vibrate as a warning it's dying. The mp3 player delivers clear, crisp sound and is great to listen to music through the earphones. The buttons are confotable and easy to use, and the navigation is nice and simple. My wife's had this phone for a couple weeks, got it free from Orange as an upgrade on 700mins and unlimited txts...for 25mnth! Just to keep her from going to T-Mobile...which she's glad she didn't, T-Mob are charging for voicemail now?! Thats just sooooo 90's! Anyway, to the phone, she is not a v savvy user but has got to grips with this phone v well (went from a Sony W800i), the camera is v good (but not better than Sony C902 in my opinion) and the touchscreen works v well. She is scared of going full touchscreen aka iphone, tocco, htc diamond etc and has found this has been a v good compromise. Call quality is a particular highlight, v clear with a 'make even clearer' option. Battery life, again, most phones don't last longer than a couple of days due to their power but if you have a charger at home and in-car, this shouldn't be a major issue really (nothing will ever beat my legendary Nokia 6210, 5 days stuck in Switzerland without a charger, no prob!) Overall, she is a happy user who has got used to the menu system v quickly, no reception problems as reported in other comments, maybe a s/w update has been issued since then. Can't believe people were moaning about not being able to turn off keypad tones?! Have you never used a phone before?!

The battery was charged when I got it and after transferring all my contacts, taking loads of pictures etc, the battery was still full and haven't had to charge it again. I've returned it to my network within a week - no questions asked by them either which said it all as far as I was concerned. I would advise anyone considering this phone to give it a wide berth unless you are controlled by an urge to charge it every day and see your electricity meter spin round really quickly! Phone looks great but battery life is a real issue - packed in on me twice within first week despite being fully charged overnight both times. Went totally flat with very little use as well which was even more annoying! Touch screen functions were also a bit fiddly, kept connecting to the internet when trying to do other things and reactions were a bit slow. Not impressed at all. LG should stick to TVs and other stuff which are meant to be plugged in to work - doesn't really suit a mobile!

If only I knew then what I know now, I definitely wouldn't have picked this mobile. It looks very nice and stylish, but it only has to be in your pocket to lose signal and go onto the 'Emergency Calls Only' screen. The battery life is terrible and it can go from showing a high charge, to switching itself off without any warning at all. This is what I find the most frustrating, as it always happens when you are somewhere that you can't recharge it! There is also a disappointing lack of emoticons, not a major problem, but it's nice to have some animation. Battery life is average but my phone is used all day so needs to be charged every day. Im not sure why people are having trouble. My phone must be one of the first batches as I received it on only the second day that the secret was released in the UK and it came straight from Orange. Was there subsequent "Dodgy" batches released?? I dont know. Only LG will know and they aint gonna say either way!! I am staggered by the comments that this phone is full of bugs!! They aint on my secret thats for sure. I have read all of the comments and my secret does not suffer any. OK ... so the camera is a bit crap in low light and yes, it doesnt respond well to movement. But its a phone camera ... not a £450 digital SLR!!!! Hold it still outside in good light and the pics are great with amazing definition if you zoom in after the shot is saved. I have NO menu probs, NO booting up probs, NO sd card probs, NO battery probs, NO browsing probs, NO connection probs. The only thing that is vunerable is the carbon back which scratches when you just look at it!! Ok now I shouldn't really complain as I got this phone for free but it is awfully disappointing. I've owned Sony's for a long time now and have come to expect a level of functionality and usability which isn't there with this phone. It's a classic case of style over substance. I know there are many people who buy phones based purely on looks and if you're one of them...great - go and buy it. You'll love the fact it's carbon fibre...WOW. Anyway, here are the key problems with this handset 1)It turns itself off for no reason several times a day. Highly furstrating problem. Reminds me of the early days of Nokias I used to own a few years ago. It's not good enough. 2)Reception. When the phone is in my pocket, it doesn't get reception so people have been asking me why my phone is always off. Uh, I didn't think it was, oh it's not, it's just crap 3)Sensitivity of buttons. When having a conversation, if you put your face up to the screen (which is highly probably when using a phone) it seems to set off a whole load of the buttons which invariably scuppers the call you're on. 4)Battery life. Totally inadequate. One 30 min call seems to sap it of half of its juice. 5)Syncing. It's a really poor engine and really difficult to use. I've been syncing my Sonys with my PC for several years and it generally works fine. Outlook and the LG software don't get on at all. There is also a ridiculous limit to the amount of calender entries one can have on the phone i.e. 100. I've just put in a 2gb card thinking it would up the capacity. Not the case 6)Touch screen. Pointless on this device. Don't be sold on this basis as it's highly poor. Anyway. Those were my top points. I really wouldn't recommend spening any money on this device. Very poor all round

Basically since the weather is so hot at the moment in the summer and I am using my handset alot, I have found that after a while, for some reason (whether it is to do with the sweat on my touchpad or not), the touchpad keys up and down do not work unless I wait for a few hours and for some reason, after switching it on and off a few times they kick back in.. I don't know the real solution but this is the only solution I have come up with so far. What's puzzling is that the left and right touchpad keys work so I don't think it can be the sweat on the phone? And I am also taking this phone to a country that is even hotter than England in a few weeks and I am worried the touchpad will die on me. Is there anyone else with this problem? And if so, is there an official solution to this, or should I just get a new handset???? The camera is terrible also, for some reason it is too bright or too dark, no in-between and the colours are washed up! Is there any way to have some decent settings and also for the settings to save (not have to change my settings every time I take a new picture?) Thanks
