Had 2 of these phones and had to return both to the Carphone warehouse!! Try these 2 things on your LG Cookie, 1) Try to copy all your contacts or any multiple items (i.e several pictures, songs) to the memory card or vice-versa, both the phones we had turned themselves off and restarted. 2) Put your contacts into groups and set your phone up with your favourite pic as a wallpaper and then turn your phone off overnight, when my boyfriend did this and put both phones on in the morning the phones had reset and had the default picture on, the contact group were lost, basically anything that YOU have set up gets defaulted back. Also on some occasions when switching it back on it would ask to re-calibrate the stylus. I an LG Viewty and when mine has been switched off then back on it doesn't reset or ask for a re-calibration. My boyfriend liked the phone, hence trying another after returning the first but couldn't put up with it resetting after doing a task that most other phones do with ease. The LG Cookie has some lovely features but the crashing lets it down. We'd give it 5* for looks and features and 1 for the overall performance of the phone!

well reading the reviews here it seems you either get a good one or a bad one. i have had mine 3 weeks it has turned of onced and reset 2 times but not as bad as some others overall i would say its good for the money. battery life is very good. screen very good. and has enough gadgets on it who needs 3g video calling ? or if you want a good camera then buy a camera. i use a phone as a phone so the camera doesnt bother me but its handy should you need it quality is pretty good. and all them people who say the iphone is better well your paying big pounds for it and if you read the reviews there not that good. due to the buggy firmware i would rate the cookie at 3 good

anyone looking for downloads for this phone should look for "touch screen enabled" on google , you will find a load of games that are compatable with the phone , anyway a review , the phones UI is slow but no where near as slow as the lg viewty , the camera is awful , i would have made do with a 1 mega pixel as long as it had a flash , the gallery sometimes shows as empty until you reboot the phone , music player takes nearly 20 seconds to load from the front screen , the phone has no 3d java like on nokia and erricson phones so you are stuck with 2d puzzle games , or if you want to play 3d games they look like rubbish on the phone the slot for the charger is a nightmare to locate in low light and is very difficult to slot in , the headphones are terrible , the flash support is limited to flash lite only and files of under 100k, the phone reboots a lot , this is a firmware issue so hopefully that will be sorted , plus points , its cheap and it has a touch screen , wish I would have waited and bought a windows mobile device instead of this , not recomended unless you have never owned a touch screen mobile before , you can get phones much better than this from ebay with built in analogue tv receivers touch screens nintendo emulation and all kinds of gadgets for less than 60 quid

No reset/shutdown problems so far. positive: - sound is good - touchscreen is good and allows for fun handling - screen quality is good with clears colours - very light and the size is just right - price is very good. I paid 120 ¤ on E-bay (maybe too much if :-S) don't expect a full smart phone for this price - Camera is good although I haven't used it very much. A little slow to react though negative: - in contact list the phone numbers are not shown and the font is large so you get only a limited amount. scrolling here is very sensitive - you need to get used to the screen locking all the time but you can't get around this - data transmission is very slow over the USB cable - haven't been able to play .avi movies yet

to put it in a simple and yet very effective phrase of what i think about this phone (having had it since christmas), i have come up with the following: WWWWWOOOOOOOOWWWWWW !!!!!!!!! this phone is by far the best i have ever purchased, and, i have purchased many as the orange TR1 model's screen kept breaking and i had to get it replaced with numerous other models from prett much every manufacturer. the camera, despite what the majprity of these people are saying is great and very very reliable. 3 megapixels, despite the lack of flash/ autofocus, is a great acheivement for a phone in this price braket. the touchscreeen interface is very precise, clear, friendly and easy to use, LG's freetouch systems work great and the overall feel of the phone make it a winner with the croud. i give this phone a whopping 5*/5* because it is just so good, by far the best thing on the market in this price range. well done LG uve done it again!

I've recently got the LG Cookie (KP500) and i am very impressed with the phone overall, but I have noticed that it does have some faults. The faults I have noticed so far are that the phone will randomly turn itself off, resulting in all the setings having to be re-done to your own prefferences, and also the 'profiles' such as silent mode etc, they do change themselves and your prefferenced occasionaly without any warning, so things such as your wallpaper & ringtone would change. Im not sure if these problems are just just with my phone or thay are a manufactural problem. Overall I would recomend buying the LG Cookie as it is an amazing phone for the money you pay for it.

Needed a new phone, so thought I'd go for this cheaper touch screen model. Took a little getting used to after using a phone with hard keys. No problems once I'd played with it for a few days. Nice looking light unit. Easy to use. It has got a lot of options crammed in, so there are lots of menus/sub menus (manual has 129 pages). I have not had a problem with the touch screen, re large fingers, but there in a "pen" included that works well. There is a fraction delay on detection, but nothing serious. Sound quality/clarity is good. It doesn't come with much memory, but for £10ish you can add a micro SD card upto 8Mb, so that's easily solved for photo, video, music storage. Camera takes good photos (first switch to large size & high quality in options). As for other reviews mentioning "resetting/switching off". I have not had this problem (yet?). The only thing I have found slightly disconcerting is that when switched on, after a time (that you can set/alter), it goes into a power saving/stand-by mode, when the backlight/screen goes black. This is to save battery power, but since the power light also goes off, you think the phone is off, when actually it's asleep - waiting for a call, or you to wake it!. I would have liked some indication that the phone was still on/alive. Anyway, small gripe aside, this seems like a nice phone, and for £100ish, it's not expensive compared with a lot of other phones. We'll see how it holds up against my works Nokia. I'll review again in a few weeks if I find anything to report.

This phone is the best sub-£100 phone I have ever come accross. a year ago this phone would have set you back over £400. i actually ran into this phone because i was considering buying an 8gb ipod touch for £160, or a cheaper alternative 8gb ipod nano for £110, but then saw this phone in a magazine and realised i would be wasting money on both the ipods when i could get the closest thing to a 8gb iphone for £110 (plus £10 8gb memory card). this was great due to the fact that you can simply drag-and-drop your music onto this phone rather than use itunes (which is what i have always hated about ipods). i was initially extremely skeptical even to the last minute before i bought it, constantly thinking the phone would look good on the posters but be very rubbish when you actually tried it out but i was very, VERY amazed when i got it up and running. PROS AND CONS: COSMETIC - great size and shape, LG have trimmed this phone to the max, it is suprisingly slim and very light for a touch-phone. the edges of the phone are smooth which means long calls are not uncomfortable. the screen is very bright and vivid, it takes up about 80% of the face of the phone, which looks great. the only cosmetic downside of the phone is the matt-plastic case which in my opinion does not look bad at all. FUNCTION - excellent touch screen operation, there have been alot of complaints about text messages using it but i have had no problems apart from getting used to using virtual buttons rather than physical buttons. using T9 input is fast and easy, it could probably be faster than a conventional phone in all honesty. if you cannot use T9 then the next best thing is to turn the screen sideways to access the virtual QWERTY keyboard which is also quick and easy to use. i am a 6ft tall male with large hands and i do not have problems using the touch screen with my fingers, even down to the smallest of virtual buttons i.e. the scroll bars FUN - you can set up the phone just like most other phones so you can have your own personal screen saver and ringtones, you can have a different ring tone and picture for each person in your phone book, the picture viewer is very similar to the ipod touch, and the music player is also just as good as the ipod or walkman interface. the built in games are fun for all! you can also edit pictures and even edit videos! the camera is very good for the price, i had a sony walkman touch screen phone a year and a half ago it cost me over £350 and had no camera what so ever which makes the 3.2MP camera on this phone a blessing. it takes good enough pictures and videos. OTHERS - there are other little nice touches to this phone like widgets and vibration pulse-touch DOWNSIDES - the first thing i noticed before i even turned on the phone was that the earphones/handsfree that comes with the phone does not allow you to connect your own earphones (like sony walkman phones). the first thing i noticed after i turned the phone on was that the accelerometer is a little bit slow. i found it very hard to switch from horizontal view to vertical view. but after a bit of practice i found that if you tilt the phone slowly then it works fine every time so in a way this isnt actually a technical problem.the second thing i noticed was that you can set a security code for the phone but it can only be 4 digits long and you cannot set it to the key lock. With all the budget-busting features on this phone, i would have expected a flash for the camera. i cannot understand the point of having a camera on a phone without a flash, but like i have said already, to get a camera with the phone is a blessing! VERDICT: this phone is the best thing you could possibly buy for £100. it simply is a steal! if you want an ipod you might as well just go ahead and buy this phone, it has everything an ipod has plus more, AND it will probably last a little longer before breaking lol

Got mine today, like it so far although im not to impressed with the built in games so i decided to go on the internet and try and find some for download - came across none (even the LG Site had none), i then thought lets try themes, again, "Themes are not available on the KP500". Although this was a bit frustrating i still like the phone and enjoy it for the price. Good Features: Touchscreen Accelerometer (Phone rotates photographs automatically depending upon the position of phone) The ability to shake the phone to get responces from it (re-arrange your icons) Camera - Great quality (3mp) although when its dark it does let it down, but i tend to take pics in the day so i find this not an issue. Video quality is great, as phones normally lack video quality, having had many top phones before, this seems to hold the gold medal for video quality. Radio - Great Feature Sound Quality - Very good Nice compact department for me to hide away my stylus - very neet Drawpad - Little pad that u can draw in, change color of your pens, background... pretty neat feature, can come up with good pictures. Bad Points. Not having ability to change themes, no games available for download Although camera is good, there is a bit of a delay in the actual image and image on screen, but photos do come out in great quality. Other than that, great phone, I have gave this a 4 purely for lack of games/themes - if this wasn't an issue, i'd give it a 5, this is a 5* phone if you don't use games and wish to change themes. I just got the Lg cookie for Christmas yesterday and i love it ! It amazing! I got it from the carphone warehouse for about £100. It has so much to offer for that price. the games are fun, the editing is v. good also little details like when you writing a message you turn the screen a different keypad comes into view. The speakers are really good. plus the browser is outstanding, there was a little technical hitch though, when i went on the browser i had to register to go on any things such as bebo and youtube, i had to be 18, which I'm not. But thats the only bad thing so far. The phone memory by itself is ok, its better with a huge 8gb. Also an impressive 2 wallpapers both with 2 settings, one for calls the other for menus. Overall this phone is amazing and i would recommend everyone to buy it !

The phone is very interactive with users. Lots of Flash Ui(s) to put on your main screen which could be useful. eg. Music player on main screen as well as memo pad and world time. Very easy to use, although lacks flash on the camera, but still 3.2 megapixels without flash is okay. The auto screen turning ability is very good so you can look at things wide screen or just like any other phones. LG cookie has many features which is convenient for active users. It's plastic, but big deal. You may think most other touchscreen phones is made out of better materials, but actually, some companies put gloss finishes to the phones to make it look non-plastic. Video and picture editing is very fun and easy to use. Price wise is also average like many other touchscreens. I would definately replace my Samsung Blast for the LG Cookie and recommend you to get the LG Cookie if you are looking for a new phone.

I got this phone for Christmas and absolutely love it. It is really worth the money - a touch screen that does a lot of what the apple does, for a fraction of the cost. Although at first it was a bit daunting coming from a background of keypads, I have now had it for a day and have mastered it! (Including texting - which if fine even if you have 'chubby' fingers thanks to the neat stylus). It is a great size and nice and slim. It's also very light which I wasn't expecting! The features are really good, such as the drawing pad and the muvee maker. The camera is decent and the videos are of a good quality. The battery life is also very long-lasting, and this is even when i've been playing with it all the time! The only downfall is the software - for some reason it's refusing to install onto my windows xp. However despite this i'm still giving this phone 5* as the software is not a necessity to it. Brilliant phone, thanks LG. :)

Great phone! yes, it reboots whenever i try to multitask, the camera and the mp3 player audio quality is bad, scrolling through long lists is a hit-and miss affair. But signal strengh in difficult spots is good (except in elevators), voice clarity during calls is good, the homescreen widgets and 9 favorite contacts screen is great. Same problem with all touchscreen phones: you have to constantly be looking at the screen when you are entering commands or typing, which makes me miss hardware keys. After owning the HTC Touch and Moto Ming, this one is far better. No themes to download. Are there widgets to download?

I have had this phone a month now. For the price it is fab! It has little extras like the drawing pad and a photo editing package. Texting takes getting used to but it does with any phone. 2 faults I've found in a month - the phone has a habit of turning itself off/freezing on occasions. There is no pattern to this and its not doing it everyday but it definately does do it. The other fault is that the screen turns round even when you don't move sometimes! Neither of these faults are major - just annoying more than anything. For what I want it for - texting etc, it does the job.

Im 13, from Herefordshire. I was origonally going to get this phone on PAYG but the men in the shop (CPW) persuaded my mum to go on contract. Its a good deal. £15 pm unlimited texts 100 mins The phone is ment for christmas, but I have had a good play on it. Its a great phone, very fun. Lots of great features including 3.2mp camera, great games and good memory (well reasonable). I handed my old handset into CPW and got £20 back, not quite sure how it works, but I bought a memory card from it. Cant wait till i get it all set up and going. Although CPW rang yesturday and told my mum they had given the wrong phone out, they said it was a demo phone!! :O I was pretty shocked they could make that mistake. But nothing really seemed different. Anyhow, they swapped it today and told me to give it a good charge, so earlier I put it on charge and it said ‘no sim inserted’. Im going back tomorrow to get it sorted. But I know its the sim because me and my sister tried each others sims in each others phones and her sim worked in both phones, whereas mine didnt. Not very happy with it. Another thing, Ive read LOADS of reviews and some of them say the phone reboots itself (turns itself off). I asked a friend about it because her best mate has this phone and it did it to her. I asked what did she do, and she said it happened for about a week, but has been fine ever since. It hasnt happened to me while ive played on the phone but if it does, I will probably go back to CPW. Some people have said the touch screen is hard to get used to, but its not. I got an iPod touch earlier this year as a bday present and that was really quick to get used to. Also when messaging, the Cookie has: -handwriting recognition -predictive text -normal which I think is really good. :)

Just bought this yesterday and I have been busy customizing it since. I will have to say this review will be with a stint, as I bought this to replace my two iPhones (first generation) that I decided to sell. You will need to upgrade the memory (done by buying a MicroSD - I recommend buying a 4GB or better still 8GB) as it\'s built-in 48MB is not sufficent for most of what you wish to use it for. This presents a problem to a previous iPhone owner, as the Cookie sees the microSD card as external memory and does not group the two (external & internal) together. What this means is that there are duplicate folder structures and you have to specify where files go - not that easy because there is no easy access file manager mode within the phone itself to move files. While the GUI is good and allows you to selectively place certain applets onto the screen (ala iPhone/Windows Vista sidebar-style) it only allows you to place just a small number of preselected ones the desktop. This is a shame. I would love to put the calculator or movie player on the screen for quick launch but you cannot. Also, if you are a Mac user, then I would suggest you invest in Parallels or similar PC emulation software to allow you to move files (ie songs, etc.) The included software (including drivers) is Windows only. Speaking of Mac, the Mac will open up iPhoto and show the Cookie in a disk mode (which sadly only access the built-in 48MB portion of internal memory). There are certain USB-modes that allow the PC Suite to be used (a bit out-of-date by todays standard but does sync contacts pretty well) like Mass Storage, Music Sync, PC internet and PC suite. PC internet allows the phone to work as a modem (provided you have the USB cable at hand) for your laptop. But at EDGE/GPRS speeds, which is better than nothing. Music sync allows you to choose internal or external memory locations to place your music files. Music sync will only work with WinXP SP2 with WMP 11 or higher installed, which I eventually figured out. Works in Vista just fine though. Thankfully, music files included MP4 (AAC) which means all my iTunes music was able to be ported over without issues. The browser is good as for loading the content. The same websites and speed as a 1st gen iPhone but it sucks for navigating. You cannot simple scroll around the screen - the touchscreen will resist it, but eventually will give in if you pester it and let you do so. Also placing too much pressure with your fingures while navigating and it will magnify the screen to preset values instead of moving around. Links can only be opened within the webpage once you magnify them. Finally, if you change orientation during page loading then it will change the orientation once it gets the chance (not immediately like the iPhone). The stylus included does not really help you browsing much either. You cannot help but get the feeling that its web-browsing capabilites are painful at best and should be generally avoided if you can (unlike the iPhone which is a breeze in comparison). Sound quality is great and what you would expect. The built-in headphones are the ear bud type (ala iPod) and plug into the same plug where one would charge it. That is a bit of a shame as well, although you can buy (and I would recommend) a headphone adapter off Ebay which allows you to plug regular headphones in. It will play your music with its built-in speaker which sounds decent, should you wish to. I have not configured email yet, as it only supports POP3. I use Yahoo Mail and as a work around, I set a favorite to wap.yahoo.com which loads quickly and lets me check my mail using the web interface instead. No big deal. Loaded my photos onto the phone and the photo viewer is decent, and does let you flick through the pictures ala iPhone (drag accross to the next pic). There are other features, including the Java based games, but I miss the App Store on the iPhone. In short, this is no iPhone replacement, but for £100 you would be foolish to think it was. What you get is a phone which gives you the minimum of what you would expect from a proper touchscreen phone without horrible clunky-overbearing Windows Mobile. Worth buying in my opinion, but if you can, try an iPhone first. It will set the bar for what you think of Touchscreen phones in general and the iPhone is worth the £250 premium over this phone, but the Cookie is a good comprimise provided you can stomach it's hiccups.

Posted my initial review a few weeks back - now not so impressed with the phone. Restarts itself 2 or 3 times per day, and I find web access (and MMS access) is functional about 30% of the time. Have spoken to both Orange and LG who obviously both claim the other is to blame. I only bought this phone as a stop-gap until the 3rd generation iPhone is launched summer 2009, that can't come soon enough. The Cookie is a great phone but LG needs to roll-out a firmware update ASAP to correct the many, many annoying bugs of the thing!
