Reviewed by Ian G on 31/07/2011 It's an absolute DOG of a phone, I have to use one for work and I hate it intensely, i've actually never come across anything so utterly useless. My profitability is based on wether I receive calls and information through an app that deals with multiple service calls and scheduled tasks and in 6 months i've not had one day where it's worked from start of work to finish. It crashes regularly, it can't be cradled on the shoulder as it disconnects, it freezes more than it crashes and the tones and notifications are total TRIPE...if I could drop it in a bath of water "Accidentally on Purpose" and get a decent phone right away, you'd be hearing the splash right about 5 months ago... Reviewed by Basher on 08/06/2011 This mobile phone is pretty good. The longest Ive kept a mobile phone (from launch (dec 2009 until I recently upgraded). Phone is really customisable and has a nice big screen which is great for viewing videos and the youtube app is also of good quality. The weight isnt a problem for me as I prefer my handsets like this as it has a more premium feel. It did occassionally crash on me which required a soft reset and the only other downside is that the marketplace for windows 6.5 is pretty rubbish. However with a bit of know how you can get android and windows phone 7 running on this. Overall a good phone and probably ahead of its time considering the Desire HD and HD7 have almost the same specifications as this Rating:
Reviewed by Dan on 06/06/2011 I've had this phone for about 15 months now so have probably had to deal with it the most of any user here. DO NOT BUY IT. Honestly, if I knew you personally I'd give you a fiver just to not buy it. Like so many have said, this phone freezes all the time. Do not be naive enough to think that this phone will work for you when you get it and we're unlucky, because almost every review I've seen from someone who's owned the phone 6 months or more has at least commented on the problem. My phone has got to the point where it: 1. Freezes on texting. 2. Freezes on opening messages. 3. Freezes on calling. 4. Doesn't receive calls because of FREEZING. 5. Can't access the homescreen cos it FREEZES. 6. Turning sound up or down takes 5 minutes. 7. If the phone does it, it freezes for 10 minutes first, basically. The only good aspects of this phone are its screen - which, by the way, comes at the cost of a battery life of 1.5 HOURS USAGE!, that's probably a day for most people - and the internet works nicely on it. Well, the internet is fast at least WHEN it works, which is about half the time. And fortunately it's one of the things resetting the phone for actually affects. About the battery time, the fact it has a big screen is really only good for watching movies, I find it quite funny how, now the battery is a fair way into the phone's contract, it won't be able to watch an entire movie. Yet another thing I've had a problem with is roaming. When you set the phone to roaming, and tell it not to download any updates, you'd think that, you know, the phone wouldn't ever access the internet. Well, in this case, you'd be wrong. When the phone starts up, because the internet actually works alright but everything else FREEZES, it proceeds to download all your updates and then turn on roaming - which is pretty bad when your phone runs out of battery all the time so you have to turn it back on once or twice a day. This costs me about £20 each time when I go on holiday - so there's an excuse to upgrade to a different contact right there. I could go on, and I will. Being that this is supposed to be a business phone, the screen size is an immensely negative issue because it makes typing messages and emails really quite uncomfortable. On top of that, the keyboard is seriously inaccurate, so typing something takes about twice as long as it would on a freaking nokia 3310. It's a joke really. On top of that, good luck getting your emails to sync with your phone. For one of my three emails it worked, so it could be pretty bad for you if you have a single business email and you find it doesn't work - not worth making an alternate email either, because odds are that's not going to work too! I guess that's enough to deter you from buying this. If you read this and still want to buy it, you're an idiot and I'm glad you wasted the money. If you don't but it now, I'm glad you dodged the bullet I sadly never did thanks to jumping on the bandwagon and buying it at release. Here's a funny point, I wrote this in the time it took my phone to unfreeze! We won't count the 80 minutes (yes 80) I just spent trying to call my family and failing. I gave up that call eventually and used my friend's blackberry torch instead (that's a good phone with a bit screen for business as well as multimedia, buy that!). Sadly this is routine and has been since I changed to this phone. God damn contract better let me upgrade soon. Rating:
Reviewed by Darren from UK on 15/03/2011 I recently used one of these phones for work and found them to freeze up and crash. But i was made redundant and liked the phone so much i went a bought one. I flashed it with Android 2.2.1 and its been 150% better since then.. Does not Crash no more .. no freezing, Gps works always. The only thing i miss is the call name shout out when someone calls you. seems to be standard on Samsung galaxy S handsets and is very loud. Where as the apps on this phone seem to be quiet.. HTC should make a better maH battery to cure the poor life. but on a good day i get 5 hours of use. Can fall back on the Incar charge for more help if need be. Camera quality is good over the Blackberry torch 9800 i also own.. the picture give a very true high quality glossy photo highly recommended. the only let down is the battery as for speed and quality 10/10 Rating:

Reviewed by Peter on 25/01/2011 Few basic problems so far(bought in october 2010) nothing a soft reset couldn't cure! Just downloaded the software update and have yet had to do a soft reset. This phone is a great phone although I am not a big fan of a windows based phone, but it's doing what I bought it for, serf the web w/ease, listen to music, text almost all at the same time! I'm 95% happy I bought it! Rating:
Reviewed by todd billet on 15/12/2010 I've had it a month and i hate it. shocking: battery life, screen invisible in sunlight, typing slow and error ridden, confusing interfaces, if you read messages in inbox mode the text and tiny and cannot be resized. Browsing slow, occasional freezing, have to hit it to get screen to rotate, battery runs down overnight. This is not the future of phones. Luckily its a work freebee, but so annoying and clunky to use, never sure when its online or not, cant use a stylus with it, so a nightmare when browsing, try and click a button on a webpage, no chance... ITS RUBBISH !! 1 star is too high Rating:
Reviewed by Jessica on 14/11/2010 This is the worst phone i've ever had. Lured in by its large screen and sleek display, it was really disappointing. The clock has repeatedly put itself an hour forward without me knowing so i think i'm late. It freezes repeatedly. It decides that facebook is the only screen it will show, and insists on showing it at every given moment. texting is a nightmare, takes a lot of concentration, and i'm not a bad texter! Don't even get me started on the lack of signal everywhere i go... Incredibly awful. Rating:
Reviewed by Ianko on 11/11/2010 I've had a HD2 since April 2010 and only recently have I had problems with freezing. Notably this happens when I'm charging the wee beastie. This has also coincided with a notable decrease in battery performance - it now needs to be charged daily. I have read many threads from different forums and found people blaming also sorts of different aspects of the phone for the freezing etc. Most seem to blame the OS. For me, I take out the battery, stick it outside in the cold to cool down (thankfully its November)and then reboot. This seems to work. If I try the same indoors, it takes more reboots to get it going. Seems to me like an overheating battery. This is backed up by other users. Several have suggested putting paper in between the cover and the battery. Well, this didn't work for me. Oddly enough, when I do succesfully reboot, the time jumps forward a couple of hours. There has also been mention of ending tasks in Task Manager - I do this regularly an yway and it makes no difference to the freezing problems. I'm considering a new battery and wandering into the unknown world of the XDA developers sites. I'm not a geek and consider this last option a risky move. Rating:
Reviewed by Liz Reynolds on 09/11/2010 I bought this phone after reading lots of positive reviews - I particularly likes the big screen. I started to have a number of irritating problems which meant I had to soft reset or take out the battery (not easy on this phone). Eventually I took it to the vodoaphone shop to send it back for a soft ware upgrade (cant do this in the shop for HTC's)I was told it had water damage!. Be warned - if you might want to use this phone in the kitchen; bathroom or gym - or even make a phone call in the rain! - condensation will render your warrenty usless. Either get another phone or pay for insurance. Ill never buy another HTC again - and once my contact runs out - I wont be using vodaphone again either. Rating:
Reviewed by jonny on 02/11/2010 this phone was built up to be huge and the "iPhone killer" i will tell you now it doesn't even compare to the iPhone. this phone does not deserve its huge price tag it has. i have a whole bunch of problems with my phone. first of all i got the phone i thought great but straight away it turns itself off ad wont turn back on until its plugged into the socket and then it keeps turning off. i then got a new handset from virgin and the next one started fine for about a week and to this day the phone constantly freezes (its frozen more than working) the touchscreen is amazing when it rarely works properly and the whole operating system is rubbish. the web on this phone is great when the touchscreen works and everything else just messes up the whole time. IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE NO STARS DO NOT BUY !!!!!!!!! Rating:
Reviewed by chris on 02/11/2010 I must admit that this phone is not all that great with the original ROM, but pop over to XDA developers and there are plenty of great ROM's available which turns this into the phone it should have been, no freezes or crashes. What has really set this up as the best phone I have ever had is the fact that the Android system can now be used on it, meaning you get the best of both worlds. For me I only really use Android on it now, very rarely use windows, but nice to know its there if I want it. Android has all the apps you want unlike the poor show from windows, and this phone for me kicks the Iphone into touch, but thats just my opinion. Why not try running android on it, its perfectly safe and a doddle to set up, I think you will see this phone in a very different light. Rating:
Reviewed by vince on 30/10/2010 i've used it with windows and used it with android, with android it's not too bad, but at the end of the day you have to change the operating system to make it better and with windows it is literally a really crappy phone, i wouldn't consider buying it Rating:
